Dennis, very glad to see you back in here, don't stay away so long!

Tom, glad visit with the quack went well.  Hope all is going to stay that way.

Mook, Tom, have to very much agree about the "simpler life" when you didn't have

to worry so much about "things".  We don't have that much crime in our area, but

seemingly the way things are, we have to make very sure the front door is closed

and locked before we go out the back. As far as air conditioning goes, it's only on the

second floor, we generally don't leave first floor windows open.

(especially if no one is home)

Dan, quit sitting on those Ice Cubes to stay Cool! Everything WILL be fine.

(that's the only reason I can see that you're jittery!) (?)

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!  Yes, Dennis, welcome back!  Been a long time since you've been in.

Coffee, juices, teas and lemonade are all freshly made this morning and ready; on the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy and buttermilk pancakes w/syrup.

I would like to get some meal suggestions from you all this morning, for lunch and supper tonight.  Both meals could be the same, or you can suggest several items that you'd like to see on today's lunch and supper menus.

Hot beef and hot turkey sandwiches sound good....  Smashed 'taters, veggie of choice.

'Nother day.  Managed to get a door sanded down and some paint on it last night.  I was able to use chemical strippers on it, since I was refinishing both sides.  I've got another door to do, but I have to save one side, so it'll be a little tougher.  I think I can take the heat gun to it...

Daughter found an ad in the Sunday paper for bedding while she was here (I probably wouldn't have even looked at the ads), so that piece of the redecorated guest room is complete.  Now I just have to finish painting it.

We will never go back to that kinder, gentler time.  The genie is out of the bottle.  That makes me sad.  But I am glad that I did get to see both sides and wonder if there will be a 3rd side to see?

Agreed, Mook. But I do feel that, speaking from this side of the pond, behaviour as depicted by the media has had some effect. A popular soap opera over here seems to have characters perpetually shouting at one another, behaviour which is emulated by many of the, shall we say, less intellectually gifted, who assume it is real life. We need to stop and talk to one another more, what about is not important, but personal relations are important.

Anyway, enough of the nostalgia ! What's on the menu today ?

Best regards to you all, and thank you for the welcome back - it is very gratifying and much appreciated.

....This will be a warm one.  First look at our temp. instrument earlier was 76.  If storms don't cool us down today, this will be  up there in the 90's.

Larry, going with your suggestion for today.  Today's menu:

1.  Hot roast beef and turkey sandwiches (you can have a regular sandwich, or open-face) w/mashed taters, gravy, and other veggies for you to choose from:  baked potato, green beans, spinach , spinach salad, garden salad, Caesar salad, cole slaw, sliced tomatoes, etc.

Got some fresh peaches from Produce today, so tonight at supper time, we'll have fresh peach pie and peach cobbler:  w/plenty of vanilla ice cream, or whatever flavor of ice cream you wish to have on your dessert.

Along with the peaches today, we got:  potatoes, diced green onions, romaine lettuce hearts, and teeny tiny tomatoes.

The next round of roast beef and turkey sandwiches and side dishes are ready and on the warmer /cold bar.   Plus, there's still plenty of the peach cobblers and peach pies left, and whichever favorite flavor of ice cream you prefer.

Joe, your containers are ready, and in the fridge for you.

I'll try to get back in later on this evening, provided we don't get the predicted thunderstorms for later on this evening/night.

Evening all....

Unloaded in Binghamton this morning, ran up to Baldwinsville for Budweiser, and back in Perrysburg, OH, tonight.  Not bad for 544 miles.....

Was 90+ all along the thruway, then hit Pennsylvania, and rain.  Temp dropped 20 degrees, and not too bad here, other than the air is really thick.

One trucker found out why you should slow down when the weather gets bad, he came up on a cloudburst, couldn't stop for the traffic in front, so took to the ditch, and promptly got stuck in the median.  Don't need to see that wrecker bill (and ticket, and the rescheduling of his load).

Will take roast beef sandwiches, then into the bunk.  See everyone later.....

Randy in Perrysburg, OH

P.S. almost forgot, the first one to touch those back doors of my trailer will be in a whole lotta hurt before the athorities put him in jail for grand theft and liquor tax violations.  I take hauling this stuff seriously.....

Just got back from a short shift at Arby's (6:00 PM - 8:00 PM). Working over 30 hours per week, my first two paychecks were pretty healthy. Hopefully that trend will continue! Earlier today, I got a call from Summer Kitchen Cafe. I submitted a job application there during late May and they just got around to calling and asking if I'm still looking for work. I took great pleasure in saying "No, I got a job already, thank you." Big Smile [:D]

We got the nicest rain last night. It came down real gentle and slow and added up to three-quarters of an inch. I like big thunderstorms, but sometimes a gentle rain is nice too. On the other end of the weather spectrum, I've been watching Hurricane Bertha in the Atlantic. She was the sixth strongest hurricane ever to occur in the Atlantic Ocean before August 30th. Peak winds were 120 mph yesterday, but have fallen to 85 mph this evening.

Back to work at 11:00 AM tomorrow, so off to bed early tonight.

Well, we're getting the thunderstorms now.  The wind started gusting strongly, and now it's

pouring down rain.  This is round two, and due for round three later on during the night.

I think I might need/should get off from here before the lightening gets any worse.

Good Wednesday morning to everyone.  Looking for another storm to be in, in about 2 1/2 hours.  We didn't lose power last night in our area, but heard on the morning news that the ones who lost power last night, only two hundred are still without power this morning.  Looks like it's going to be one of those days around here.

Coffee, juices, teas and lemonade are all freshly made this morning.

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  cantaloupe & watermelon cubes, turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, bagels and bear claws are on the warmer bar, and ready for you all.

Mookie, got your mug down, and I'm ready to pour, if you're ready for a cup of coffee.

Everyone have a good morning, and take care.

.....We had a little red spot {on radar}, pass by, and over us last night but no storming that I noted.  Must check the rain gauge.

Edit: {.7" of rain}

Today....We have overcast and 72 degrees to start out with here, so that means close to 90 again today.

Another mini blind to install...{replacing verticals in one bedroom},  and a yard mowing if no rain passes by us today.

Mid week already....Summer passes so fast.  Everyone have a good day.

Ouch - forgot about mowing the yard.  Been concentrating on the guest room.  The doors are a work in progress right now.  Had to strip them to bare wood - too many layers of paint on them already.  The trim will be a challenge in that respect.  Can't exactly brush on paint remover and then wash it with the hose....

Several threats of showers last night and this morning, but nothing substantial.  Wouldn't mind a good rain.

Supposed to be a hot weekend.  I'm on the railroad Friday and Sunday, with Saturday consumed by the French Festival.  20,000 people eating pastry, shopping at the flea market, and watching the parade in 91 degree heat.  Should make for an interesting day.

Mornin. How yall? Mookie, you are so clever, and smart too! My good looks make up for any deficiencies that I have in that dept, although I can't think of any at present. Currently 79 degrees and sunny in Carolina with another 90+ and thunderstorms again. It has been a good day on the wireless so far, so lemme run. Everybody stay cool and safe

Well, we've had light rain off and on this morning; and will continue throughout the afternoon, but nothing too serious is supposed to be coming in.  Our high today should top out in the low 80s, with a low tonight/tomorrow morning, in the 60s.  Not bad sleeping weather!

For those  who come in here in this afternoon, here is the menu for today:

1.  Chicken fried rice

2.  Vegetable beef soup w/cornbread

3.  Pork chop abracadbra w/potatoes & onion cooked together

Everyone have a good afternoon, stay as dry as possible, and I'll see you all later:  getting ready make a trip to the Library.

Mookie, The 'M' names for this year through 2013 for the Atlantic Ocean are: Marco, Mindy, Matthew, Maria, Michael, and Melissa. For the East Pacific Ocean, the 'M' names are: Marie, Marty, Madeline, Max, Miriam, and Manuel.

The 'W' names for this year through 2013 for the Atlantic Ocean are: Wilfred, Wanda, Walter, Whitney, William, and Wendy. For the East Pacific Ocean, the 'W' names are: Winnie, Waldo, Winifred, Wiley, Willa, and Wallis.

All of the other names can be found here: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutnames.shtml

Sometimes I wonder where they come up with some of these names. In the event that any of the names get retired, a replacement name will be needed, so I will be sure to recommend Mookie and Willy, when the time comes. There are usually one or two names that get retired each year, but an 'M' name is much more likely to be retired than a 'W' name, since it is rare to get all the way to W.
