Quentin, have a great birthday and keep doing it. I had one two weeks ago and in response to friendly greetings about hold old I had become I said it is certainly preferable to the alternative.

I do believe that Tom finished all the butter beans and fatback, so all that's left for supper is Mutt's Italian spaghetti casserole w/garlic bread or your can have garlic Texas toast.  Plenty of desserts still around, also.

Quentin, we're still getting freezing rain.  Didn't see that many snow flurries before it turned into the freezing rain.  Actually, I'm not too certain that there wasn't a little bit of sleet mixed in with it this morning, when I was out for my walk, trying to beat the bad weather.

You all take care this evening; stay inside where you're warm and dry.

....CW:

With a little luck we're not going to see that round of freezing rain, etc. as it's to stay just south of Indy and move east.  Now if that's the way it happens, we'll be fine.  They are saying this area could see 1 to 3" of the white stuff by tomorrow.  That, I can handle.  Many years ago while still "home" in Pennsylvania, 3" of snow was hardly a blip on the Winter scene...Didn't even slow us young fellows down much.  Now I don't need to go out in it to challange it...{the weather}, it's time for younger ones to do that.  I'll enjoy the comfort in here, for example.

Dinningcar:

You are certainly correct, the alternative is not promising if one cares to stay here a bit longer.

We're thankful we've made it this far.  Don't know where all the time escaped to....

Quentin, all the best and many more. My optometrist is an ugly hardside, but his assistant, Cindy, is a beautiful blonde and makes up for his deficiencies. CW, thanks for the butterbeans and fatback. Made my day. Currently 41 and rain in Carolina

Good Friday morning, everyone.  Well, our temp is up to and hovering at 33 degrees F, and we're only getting rain this morning.  I am hearing about some areas with trees down on a few roads.

Chad and Dale, glad to see you guys were in last night.  Hope to see you both come in a little bit more often!!  And Cannonball, good to see you in here last night!!

The following liquids are ready:  coffee, hot chocolate, hot cider, hot tea, and oj/oj/tangerine, apple, grape and pineapple juices.

On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausages (patties & links, pork & turkey), homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, hash browns, scrambled eggs, oatmeal & toast.  (Tomorrow, I'll add grits to the menu.)

Everyone have a great morning, stay warm, and anyone getting the freezing rain, as it goes north of us, be careful  and take it slow and easy out there!!

Dare I say it.....we may have a train watching weekend!  YEA!  Maybe all the way up to 40 on Sunday - and sunny.....

Chad - welcome back.  Doghouse - sure - I share all chocolate cake, but sometimes it looks a little mauled.  But, hey, we are all friends in here, so if it is a little licked it is ok.

Q - I have a male eye doctor - tall, lanky Texan - with an adorable drawl.  Yummy.....And my dentist is female - cute, perky and married.  Then there is my personal physician - Dr. Dummy.  I keep him around cuz he knows better than to argue with me.  Well, someone had to graduate at the bottom of their class......

Sir Chicken is roaming again.  Whenever he is loose it makes my work load harder - I think he was within my net reach, but net was asleep....

Good morning, it's Friday. Quentin, Cindy is real too. Blonde, pretty and divorced. Misfortunately, I am bald, ugly and hopelessly married.... CW, I will have a go at some cold grapejuice and some sausage links for a start. Currently rain and 37 degrees in Carolina this morning. Everybody stay warm and safe

....24.1 for our mid morning report on how much "heat" is making it thru the overcast this morning.  Looks like about an inch of snow fell over night.  And once again, we can live with that.

Our little around town "toy" has Winter tires and 2 special sealed "sand bags" of 70# each behind each fender well in the bed and positraction and for flat country, we get around rather well in this stuff....Even with the wide tires it has.  The front wheel drive automoblle gets thru it great too but like to keep it inside in this stuff when we really need not to be using it.

Jen.....Our dentist has about 10 gals "manning" the place and they are really great....Know what they are doing very well.  They don't hurt the scenery either.  Dentist office is all the way of 5 min. from us.  Eye Dr., perhaps about 15 min. in distance.

Not sure if we'll see any more of this Winter stuff today or not....If any, believe it will be minimum.  Not snowing now.

In 45 min. we'll head out to our new Bob Evans and have some breakfast....It's about 15 min. distance from home here.....Don't have far to go right into town to reach it all....Kind of handy.

Even a railroad passes about a mile away...{hear a train horn right now}, an east bound I believe on NS, Frankfort line.

This is TGIF for the working folks so that should make it pretty easy.

37 in Carolina.....thats quite a bit warmer than we here....Perhaps Spring is working it's way north.

I have a question maybe someone on here can give me information about....(is that proper sentence structure?)

We drove Ford Focus a few years ago - a loaner.  Then we got Millie (2002 Buick), but I just loved that Focus for darting around town.  Anyone own(ed ) one and if so, what did you think of it?

Mookie, I haven't driven a Ford Focus; but know of someone who rented one back in the summer, and she really liked driving it.  Other than that, I haven't heard anyone say anything about the Focus, one way or the other.  Really would be interesting to hear others' opinions on it.

Now it is time for our Friday Fish Fry.  On today's menu:

1.  Cod
2.  Flounder
3.  Haddock
4.  Hallibut
5.  Perch
6.  Breaded oysters
7.  Shrimp
8.  Salmon patties

Side dishes:  fries, hushpuppies, corn on the cob, baked beans, cornbread, and cole slaw.

Desserts:  apple, blueberry, cherry, chocolate, peach and pecan pies; chocolate cake, and yellow cake w/caramel icing.

Mookie, I'm glad that you'll be able to go watch trains this weekend!  Wish I could join you!!  Wishing you and Driver a very good weekend!!

....Of course, the Focus is a smaller car and wil be easier to skit around in a metro area.  Most smaller vehicles are.  I'm not a Ford person so can't comment on the driving of one.  Reports one can read generally give it a mediocre report.  It's front wheel drive too.

I dunno...my opinion of the Focus is a bit blurry...Big Smile [:D]

Neat cars, relatively low maintenance (if the necessary is kept up with), and halfway decent on gas.  I was a tad surprised at the room but I wouldn't call it overly spacious.

How'd you enjoy your cake?  I've kept the door shut-hope it's helping, but I hear we're due for another round of white fun Mon/Tues of next week.  One estimate called for another foot!

Dan - I can't manage the 2 feet I have now and you want to give me another one?  Laugh [(-D]

I personally have been a Plymouth person - did a Chevy a couple of times and had a couple of Fords forced on me.  Fords seem to be more problematic, Plymouth was wonderful (a Valiant slant 6) Roadrunner - ok - but the Buick has been a dream - albeit a cheaper dream.  Would like Millie with the old LTD's bench seats instead of her bucket seats.

Wonder what the old people will drive if the Buicks aren't available?

Dan,

Have you seen or heard of any plow trains operating in central Wisconsin?

Snow in the AZ mountains today but not accumulating as it is almost warm enough to be rain, in fact the sun is breaking through now (noon).

Enjoy your day everyone

Mookie:
Why hog all the 'fun'?  I believe in sharing!!Laugh [(-D]  I've been a GM guy for years until I got my Ranger.  I have to say the little truck has impressed me with it's quiet and comfort.  It's been pretty reliable.  I suspect that after Buick heads the way of CNW the 'well seasoned' crowd will probably drive the 'less seasoned' crowd nuts!Evil [}:)]Cool [8D]

Dale:
Yes, WSOR, CN, and CP have all run them recently.  However I haven't personally been able to go and see them to get pics.  That little frustrating thing called work...Sigh [sigh]Banged Head [banghead].  We'll see about next week and month.  I know that there's some great pics of them on Fuzzy's chat room (www.fuzzyworld3.com and click on 3um).

Joe:
How'd you fare with the last go-round of liquid/frozen sunshine?  I heard that there was a fair amount of ice down that way.

CW:
Som perch sounds great right about now...so if any's ready I'll grab a plate.  How'd you and the family fare with the weather?

.....Jen:

You can be comfortable for a while yet.....Buick isn't going anyplace soon.  Looks like they are changing the product, but their new SUV is getting brisk attention.  Of course it's all relative....The whole industry is in trouble right now economically, and so are many other industries.

Quentin - just paid off Millie, so like Joe - will probably wait awhile.  I really like the reliability of Buicks and we follow Consumer Reports pretty close on what is the best in their opinion.  As for an SUV - I would have to throw myself across the front seat and have The Driver push from behind to get me in one.

might have to look into buying one....  Evil [}:)]

Test drive a Toyota Matrix (or a Pontiac Vibe). Easy to enter & exit. Great for old people. Zippy and gets 35mph on leisurely trips.

Our daughter and son-in-law recently traded in his Ford Explorer for a Pontiac Vibe.  They love it.  I've had the opportunity to drive it a couple of times- nice little vehicle.

Personally I'd take a 2500/250 or bigger class truck with crew cab, 4x4, and a diesel.
