Keeping my fingers crossed related to the weather...raining here now and about 33F.

Going down to St. Louis tomorrow for the day to attend an important customer meeting so hoping the weather does not interfere with flights...too short a trip to consider Amtrak (darn it).

It just changed over from rain to snow about an hour ago- now they're saying 2 to 4" for us, and it won't be getting below zero after this one.  I guess I can live with that.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.   Hope you all had a very good night.  Coffee is ready, and fresh juices are in the cooler.  Also have the hot chocolate, hot cider, hot tea ready for this morning.

Breakfast this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits, gravy, etc., are on the warmer bar.

I won't be around this morning, and not sure I'll be back in time for lunch.  Have a doctor's appointment this morning at 10.  I've not seen this doctor since I was in the hospital back in September;  So, along with not being in here, I won't even to taking care of Tuesday Produce today.

Everyone take care, and I'll see you all later on this afternoon.

Good morning all...we ended up with about five inches of really heavy wet snow last night.  I went out with a sweep broom and the snow easily slid off of my car.  I will be heading for the airport in about an hour to catch my 8:35 flight to St. Louis.  I will report back on my trip tomorrow morning as I will be home late tonight.

Jingle Bells....well, we only got "snice"....and our great street dept put down salt water before it started, so the streets are clear.  Driveway crunched, but I can live with crunch.

Sniffles is home again today with a bug.  He went to bed at 5:30 pm last nite - sez he doesn't ache quite as much today.  Ah - winter bugs.... Sounds like warmer weather is on its way.  Must move the beach chairs outside for today's patrons....

Coffee anyone?

Woo-hoo!!!

We ended up with less than an inch, not enough to bother with the snow blower- replacing those parts paid off!  And they've modified today's forecast alittle, bumped the projected high temp up a few degrees... c'mon, Spring!

6:30 AM greetings from AZ. It will be fruit, shredded wheat and toast with OJ and coffee this morning. In AZ we get more fresh fruit than when I lived in CHGO or KCMO. Closer to CA with strawberries and citrus, and southern AZ has fruit trees.

Sorry to keep doing this to my fellow railroaders but it will be 60+ here today with bright sunshine. Keep em rolling you midwesterners, spring will be here soon.

....Wet snow started a couple of hours ago....So far not too much to show for it, as it's a bit above freezing.  Last night we had very large snow flakes....{half dollar size}, and then the 1/2" it put down, melted.

Looks like a massive band stretching from out there on the Plains to across us and upper Ohio Valley and on up into New England will be it's path.  Some in the east can expect up to 10" to a foot according to what is being described on reports here.

Us....To see 1 to 3" of the stuff.

Morning paper has a pic of a Robin perched on a limb sporting red berries and the bird has one in it's beak....Lucky photographer.  Just in the last day or so, I've mentioned to Jean, "bet we'll soon see some Robins", and looks like the unlucky few have started to arrive.

Had a busy Town Council meeting last night here in our little berg of Yorktown....Just outside of Muncie.

Edit:  Now at a bit past noon the wet snow has made little progress.  Main roads are just wet.  So I'm beginning to wonder how much of the reported snow we'll really get.  It's 37 degrees now and really bright.\

....What's even more difficult to believe....Heard some sounds out side several hours ago and couldn't believe what we saw when looking out a front window.  Our town crews were patching some pot holes in our street....!!!  Slush all over and water standing.....and they were found throwing patching material in some pot holes....I don't know how they found them.  But on a day like today....!

Up at Oh-dark-thirty to open up our social hall for the elections people - we have a special election today.  I voted, too.

Light snow then, heavier now, although the winter storm warning is for "only" 3-5" - hardly anything over the 30 hours they've warned us about.

My usual, I'll be over in the corner.

Larry, got room for another over there? I need a cup of coffe and relax after this mornings excitement!

Was in the back of the house, heard a very loud "Thump", went to front door,

and this is what I got to see. Have NO idea how that Dud(e) wound up in the southbound

lane when the (his) northbound was clear. As you can see, there was enough of an impact

to inflate driver's airbag; plus after the Police reports, etc., they had to pull the bumper out

on the bus so it could leave.

Handfull of youngsters on board, called another bus to get them to their destination.

Temps in the 40s, daylight, very light drizzle.

Any 'eclairs left? I think I could eat a couple!

Oops!  How do you not see a big yellow bus?

Plenty of room in the booth - come on over.  I've got some eclairs stashed away here, too (Don't tell Madam la Mook!).

That wasn't the wind at 9:30 pm that Mooks heard last night. That was me with a big sigh of relief that I had survived I-80 in Iowa and Mook's net was frozen in place. Watched two rollovers happen in front of me at MM180-182 near Kellogg, IA.  Got blown sideways off the road at 5MPH near Atlantic.

Got home at 5am ...staggering around now

Well, I'm back home now.   Dr. visit went semi o.k. Sad [:(](if anyone wants more info, just email me).  This visit was not for the knee or hip.

Joe,  grilled cheese and a bowl of soup sounds good to me, right now.

By having a doctor's appointment so early this morning, looks like I missed some excitement right out my front window!!  Oh well, I've seen plenty of them, in the past 20 years.

Does everyone want soup & grilled cheese tonight, or do you want our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta?  I'll leave the decision up to all of you!

After last week, they might be running out of the stuff.

EDIT: Be very glad you didn't have to drive across the state a week ago- I-80 had an uneven, crusty, bumpy, solid, impregnable layer of compacted snow and ice zero to three inches thick on it.  You would have gone through two sets of shocks negotiating that mess.  I didn't personally experience it, but I saw news videos and Cedar Rapids city streets are STILL like that.

You shoulda called me and taken a relatively short detour to our guest room...

The City of Oshkosh just bought $2M worth of salt from some place in MN.  It's supposedly serviced somehow by rail and the city could have had it shipped that way cheaper and delivered to town on the CN.  So...they chose trucks which cost more, which got stuck on a road that wasn't (ironically enough) salted.  Smart planning there!  Black Eye [B)]

Cold day and I'm kinda spoiling for trouble today it seems.  Off to go find some...Evil [}:)]

Davenport IA just received 4 rr cars of salt from Canada. Twas on the news. Now if D'port can buy some pothole filling, that would be great.
Grilled cheese and soup is perfect for tonight.

I've got soup on the warmer bar (veg. beef and cream of broccoli) and grilled cheese sandwiches are just now coming off the grill.

Our weather today has been off & on light rain showers, and snow flurries.  The snow flurries will continue thru tonight, not supposed to be much of a problem.

You all have a good evening!

Soup and sandwich is a winner!  Still snowing here.  Not hard, but consistent, and it just dropped below freezing.  And the wind is blowing pretty good.  Hard to say what the morning will bring.  Wouldn't mind a day off, but I have folks here to work on my systems at work, and they wouldn't appreciate an extra day off.

One of the members of that team hasn't seen snow in around 17 years (back when he was in single digits).  He's getting his money's worth this week.

.....Appears once again, the storm system didn't leave much for us.  For one thing it got in the upper 30's today and any wet stuff it did put down melted.  Believe the Low system is getting too far east to be much of a problem for us overnight, even on the wrap around from the Lakes.  But it will be down in the teens by morning.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Well, we are currently at 21 or 22 degrees, and our high today will be 30.  Just a coating of snow on the ground, streets are in good shape.  With the wind chill, it feels like and will continue to feel like the temp is in the teens.  Thank goodness, March 1st is just three days away (not counting today)!

Coffee, oj/oj-tangerine, pineapple juice and grape juice are all freshly made this morning.

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, oatmeal, toast, scrambled eggs, sausage patties & links, and the usual bagels and bear claws.

Everyone have a good morning, and if there are any meal requests for today, let me know, please.
