Good Monday morning, everyone.  Pleasant 54 degrees F here this morning, going for a high around 67 or so.  Going to be a nice, cool day.  Rain seems to be out of here until Wednesday evening, then rain through the rest of the week.

Coffee is ready to pour, fresh juices made, and in the cooler, and hot water is ready for tea.  Also have some milk heating for hot chocolate.  On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes & syrup, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy and hash browns, and fresh pineapple slices.

Think I'll fix myself a plate of sausage, biscuits & gravy, then head out to the garden, and wait for company.  Mookie, got you coffee mug down, and will pour your coffee, as soon as I see you coming through the door.

Good morning! It looks like I'm the first one in here this morning, so I will take charge of serving breakfast. I just pulled a pan of cinnamon rolls out of the oven, now all I need to do is add some frosting to them. Chef [C=:-)] The coffee is about done brewing and I've mixed up a fresh batch of orange juice. There is also some pineapple juice here too. Breakfast this morning will consist of buttermilk pancakes, belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon and pork sausage links and there is also an assortment of donuts, rolls and "beagles" from our local Sunshine Bakery. Chef [C=:-)]

It's supposed to hit 70 degrees here in Sioux Falls this afternoon, and even though it's expected to be kind of windy today, it's shaping up to be a pretty nice day otherwise. I hope the rest of  you out there have a good day!

What a mess in here today - CW and Ray collided at the door and knocked each other over.  Then as they were just getting up, I came in at my usual lady-like speed (about 3 knots) and bowled them both over again.  Well, nothing gets between me and my only cup of coffee for the day!  Smile [:)]

And standing on Ray's foot, I can just reach the goodies...sorry Ray!  Thanx for help, tho!

Tom - 3 knots reserved for food and coffee only!

Brian/Willy/Tree - that middle object on those weather pictures looks suspiciously like a cup of coffee - is that what powers the whole thing?

.....A cool start here.....45 degrees but it's to get to mid 60's today and warmer tomorrow.  We do have bright sunshine though.

Reading of the wind speeds out there on the plains and beyond....I'm sure if I install a wind speed indicator here we'll have no problem exceeding the roughly 30 mph range....That happens almost weekly here this time of the year.  Flat territory and 937' elevation.  But this is wind country.   And they are starting some wind generating power units in the State now.

Q - I had to laugh when you talk about the wind on the plains:  Our backyard neighbors across the fence put up one of those small, mostly ornamental windmills that would show the direction and the wind speed.  It lasted about 3 weeks.  I am sure going to miss it!  They tied it down to keep it still and just show wind speed and next thing I knew, it disappeared.  I figure it is sitting by Toto right now!

Nope, that would be the battery-powered wireless rain gauge!Big Smile [:D]

Both it and the anemometer (wind gauge on the right) are linked to the display on the left via radio signals (in my set-up, anyway- the anemometer can be tied in via cable if the operator so desires).

Ditto, only my rain gauge is rectangular and wired into the temp/humidity sensor (as is the wind sensor).  Then it's wireless to the receiver in the house, which in turn is connected to the computer via a serial cable.

Can that coffee cup thing measure inches of snow (like what we are to get tomorrow morning?)??? Figures, I brought on the bad weather by turning on the irrigation system, cutting grass for the first time and staining the patio furniture over the weekend.

Bad enough walking da' boyz on Saturday morning at about 65 degrees and getting caught in corn snow.

Off to points east on the prairie for two days and then New Jersey, via Sarahtown later this week.

....Yes Jen, the 30 mph figure for your area and farther west that the fellows mentioned surprised me of being that low for strong gusts....

I do have a hand held wind speed indicator and I've witnessed it to read 40 plus mph without much trouble.

Since we built this house back in '71 we've had, right here at Muncie airport an official reading of 82 mph at least once that I remember of and many windy periods besides that figure.

Of  course that is straight line winds we're discussing....Those that are at ground zero or near by a tornado...{and anyone that pays attention, knows this is in that area}, all bets are off on those wind speeds.

Laugh [(-D]Now I know why I went back to sleep so fast this morning:  knocked down by Ray, while heading outside to the garden, and then knocked back down by Mookie coming in!!  Must have been some sight to see earlier!!  Wish I could remember it all happening.  That would have been so funny to see, if I hadn't been knocked out!!!!  Going to have to start looking up, and watching out for you tall people!

Got leftover beef stew for lunch today, along with a fresh batch of cornbread to go with it.  Just getting ready to put it on the warmer bar, along with the leftovers from breakfast (since both Ray and I cooked this morning, there's definitely plenty to go around!!

You all have a great afternoon, and let me know what you'd like to have for supper.

Adrian, good to see you come in!  Been awhile.  Hope we'll see you again, real soon!!

I still seem to be suffering from sleep deprivation, so supper is on the light side tonight.   On the warmer bar, you will find:  burgers and hot dogs, fries or onion rings, and garden salad in the cooler.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!  Looks like a beutiful, gorgeous day on tap today.  We're even to warm up to the mid to upper 70s today, before the next weather front comes in tonight.  Our current temp is 53 degrees.

Coffee is on, and fresh juices are made and in the cooler.

On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, toast, pancakes, homemade buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy.

Guess I'll start back at Tuesday Produce this morning.  Hopefully, they'll bring something really good, like maybe fresh strawberries, or corn, or maybe some nice lettuce and tomatoes.

And, on my way out the door, I'm going to look very hard, that no one is coming in!!Wink [;)]Blush [:I]

Eggs, bacon, and toast sure sound great right about now.  I've been biking to work for a while now and it was a tad chilly at 39 this morning...brr!

Caught a DMIR SD40-3 (#410) on Sunday as it was heading south on the CaNoodle.  I've heard it was retired and will be scrapped.  Sad because it seemed to be in better shape than the widecabbed SD40-2s it was behind!

.....Nice morning....believe it's the start of a nice sunny day.  To be in mid 70's.  {Our start here this morning is 49 degrees}.

Just read a letter from sis in law over in our home area of Pennsylvania {Somerset Co.}, and she was complaining of the nasty cold weather yesterday.  Said a lady that came in from Buckstown {That's on rt. 30 and elevation somewhat above  2,000' and she said her front yard had snow on it in the morning.  {That's near where Flight 93 went down}....Just a few miles away.

What a contrast from here.

That's the area Carl's headed to on vacation perhaps this week to visit around the Altoona / Johnstown area....{not quite as high}.  Hope he finds better weather.
