Good afternoon, everyone!  Had a  nice, little nap after I finished with Produce this morning.  Only had about 60 people, so wasn't too bad today.  Got some taters, and red sweet peppers.  That was about it, except for some romaine lettuce, and green onions, which were already getting sprouts on them, so I didn't get any of them.

For our meals this afternoon and tonight, I have decided we'll do Mexican Fiesta Day.

On the menu:  tacos, burritos (beef, beef & bean, and beef enchilada style), Spanish Fried rice, tamales, quasadillas.

Desserts:  the regular cake menu, pies and cobblers, with plenty of ice cream to go on top.

Joe, will have containers ready and in the fridge, for you, for work tonight.

Adrain, glad you could make it back in earlier.  Got a picture of the new truck to show us?

Mookie must be piled up in paperwork today; haven't seen her in yet.  Maybe she'll get a break, and can pop in for a few.

Adrian, very nice looking truck!

I've replenished the warmer bar, for tonight's Mexican Fiesta.  Think I'll take a couple of beef burritos enchilada style, some Spanish Rice, and some lettuce, onion and tomato, and pour a little bit of Kraft Tomato & Bacon salad dressing over it and head out to the Patio and a picnic table.  Anyone care to join me?!?!  Plenty of room!

If I wanted to use the gas, I could take a ride just seven miles up the road and see $4.029...

.....Larry, the mid brand is over 4 bucks a gallon here too. With Memorial Day just around the corner....It will be a breeze for the oil fellows to rake it {non leaded reg.}, over 4 bucks.  No problem at all.

Just in time to catch me making my eastern trip of 400 mi. one way.

But our automobile does very well producing decent mileage.  At least that's going for us.

....And Joe....It's not just competition of China, etc....driving up the price, it's speculators and they have pushed it way beyond it's real value.  Something is going to have to change....We can't let that group of people wherever they are to ruin the free world economy.  At these prices, it's coming fast....I have faith our free world leaders can do something to effect it, but will they....Not yet very much.

PS:  Russia has plenty of oll and is an exporter.

I think I'll be getting less than I originally thought and it's all still spent on the wedding.  It's still extra that I wasn't counting on so it's good in that respect, I guess.

SoapBox [soapbox]

I think that the leadership of this country is working against the 'common folk' being financially stable.  All the big oil companies are posting record profits 'suddenly' and oil has jumped in price.  Somewhere, someone decided "Screw 'em...raise the price" and we're getting the shaft.  Nothing will change about that unless a powerful bunch of people start to not like making money hand over fist.  It'd be nice if they at least pretended to care but IMNSHO they won't and don't.

The check was right on the advertised, but it was deposited directly into my account and I didn't even know it until I checked my online checking account.....  It's all going into the guest room - paint, new bed, etc.

That $4.029 was for regular, I think.  Some of the premium grades have been over four bucks for a few weeks now.

....Yes, our check{s}, were deposited without us knowing when too....until we checked our account on the computer here.

We then {after wading thru many touch 1, touch 2, etc...}, talked to the IRS and questioned the amount and they actually told us the rules are changing daily....!  ??

Thankful what we received, but it was not what was being broadcast in newscasts, etc.....

Here's an idea I just received via e-mail- worth considering!

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT  WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive.  It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton.  If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy gas on a certain day'  campaign that was going around last April or May!
It's worth your consideration.  Join the resistance!!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!!  Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action.

The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to 'hurt' ourselves by refusing to buy gas .

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work.  Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap.  Me too!  It is currently $3.49 for regular unleaded in my town, Seattle.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit

someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas!  And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How?  Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.   If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers.  It's really simple to do!  Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people.  If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ...  and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers .
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it.....  THREE HUNDRED MILLION

 PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.  That's all!

(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people....  Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician.  But I am, so trust me on this one.

How long would all that take?  If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!
Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.  I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.  THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

Good question- I suppose there are markets in the country where that's all you'll find is Exxon/Mobil stations?

.....They are a big one....Believe those two companies were together as one way back when.  That is Exxon/Mobil....

It's all changed around now from years ago.  My family had an ESSO {Eastern States Standard Oil}, station for 45 years and our dealings with them was decent and the products were first class.  Don't know about now.

First sign I remember seeing was "6 gal. for 1 dollar"....!!!  {1938}.

No, that won't work at all.

Fuel once refined isn't really "owned" or "seperate" by brand, and all the station companies buy and sell from each other based on the easiest way to distribute.

Stop goin' to one dealer? Demand at other dealers will increase driving up prices higher. Follow that with the extra costs of the boycotted dealer having to sell it's share of fuel to the other dealers giving one more reason for prices to climb even more.

Straight up the only and only way to drop fuel prices is decrese demand of a super growing world (basicly no chance) or increase supply with more refineries (which the same people complaining about fuel prices don't want in their neighborhood).

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Rain is coming down very lightly right now.  Supposed to be raining/storming, until at least around 11 a.m. locally.  Just what we need:  more rain.Sad [:(]

Coffee has finished brewing, and fresh juices are made:  orange, orange/tangerine, pineapple, grape, and apple juice are all available this morning.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, buttermilk pancakes w/syrup, fresh tomato slices, fresh pineapple slices, bagels and bear claws and cinnamon rolls.

If anyone has any requests for lunch and supper menus, please let me know by about 9 a.m. EDT, so I can get everything going, o.k.?  Appreciate any and all suggestions!!

Long as I'm in here I may as well get breakfast going.  Steak, ham steak, eggs, homefries (thick hashbrowns), and corned beef hash are set to go.  The usual liquid goodness is ready: what needs to be hot is and what should be cold is.  Mookie's mug is down and ready for fillin'...dig in folks.

Lauren Rene was born on the 8th at 2:37 AM.  19" and 7lbs, 1 oz.  Mom and 'squirt' are doing fine.  All fingers and toes are accounted for and supposedly she's got quite a pair of lungs on her!

Dan, congrats on the big event. Give her a kiss for ol grampaw. Mookie, I am praying that the rif will pass you by. I know how hard it is to get a job this day and age. CW, I will have a helping of everything except the tomato slices along with a mug of grape juice. Currently 47 degrees and clear in Carolina this morning. No chance of rain for the next few days, so say the weather boffins. Better get out the umbrella. Everybody stay safe

59.5 degrees here and light rain and of course overcast, to start our day.  Grass growing like wild fire now.

And Jen, not sure what you are speaking of but it sounds like a bit of downsizing is happening just reading between the lines....{must have missed previous comments}.  Whatever it is...we hope you have a good day and your good services will continue.

Quentin it's my 'little' sister's 3rd daughter.  She lives close to CW and Mutt at Ft. Knox, KY.  I'll be sure and pass on the well-wishes from everyone.

We've got rain today...glad I cut the lawn the other day.  My neighbors on both sides work for the city and both haven't cut their lawns yet this year.  What a surprise...

Dan - Congrats!  I know exactly where you're at with that!  I'll be headed down to see mine again at the end of the month.

Mook - best of luck to everyone there.  I know how that kind of thing goes - we've done it a couple of times, although I've managed to escape each time.

Sunny and warm today - possible showers tonight, but that won't hurt anything.  The lawn gets mowed this weekend, even if it is ready now.  Gotta work on remodelling the guest room - paint and cleanout mostly - it's sort of a warehouse right now.  Christmas decorations anyone?
