It's their 4th post Stateside.  Fort Leonard Wood (Lost in the Woods), MO; Fort Sam Houston, TX; Fort Lewis, WA, and now Fort Knox, KY.  I like Knox better than the others.  Although Leonard Wood was kinda pretty the surrounding area was kinda...interesting.

In a hurry, here guys:  forgot about my appointment with the cardiologist.  So, I've put out cold cuts for sandwiches, and bags of chips for lunch.  I'll make it up to everyone with supper tonight!

I've been to McChord AFB a couple of times (my son was stationed there, and I paid the place a brief visit on a tech assist when I was USAF), and Ft Leavenworth (another tech assist while USAF), as well as Ft Huachuca, Ft Indiantown Gap, Ft Drum, and a very brief touch of Ft Dix.

On the AF side, Sheesh.  Lackland, Chanute (three times - one a tech assist), Tinker, Vandenberg, Griffiss, TDY's to Dover, Grand Forks, Minot, Hanscom.  Visited Andrews with the new granddaughter (checkup at the hospital) - that's where the DIL is stationed now.  Passed through Hickam several times, once on the way to a year on a coral atoll.

Heck, I've even got Navy - San Diego (with the ex), Port Heuneme (sailed out for a week on a research ship), and even Pearl Harbor (sailed out for a summer on a research ship).

Yes, I am a shellback....

Finally made it home from the doctor's office.  He apparently was very busy, reading through several patients' test results, so we backed up in the waiting room.  It was a full today.  My appointment was for 1:45, and I didn't see him until 3:45.  The tests they did on my legs, showed one artery in the right leg, that is clogged a little bit.  Very little, so no particular treatment yet.  He said that if I have any trouble at all, walking, to call him so I can get back in to see him.   Otherwise, I don't have to go back to him until November.

On the warmer bar tonight:  Beef and noodles with mixed veggies and/or broccoli in cheese sauce;  or, country fried steak w/your choice of:  steak fries, mashed taters w/gravy, homemade biscuits, applesauce, corn, baked beans, slaw or garden salad, and there's some more sliced tomatoes for tonight.

Good Thursday morning, all.  Kind of nice out right now; no rain (but may have some later, towards afternoon).

Coffee is ready, fresh juices are in the cooler, and hot water is heating for hot tea.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  bagels, bear claws, cinnamon rolls and pecan rolls, along with turkey bacon, sausage patties and links, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, hash browns, fresh cantaloupe chunks and fresh pineapple slices.

Looking around the Cafe:  thought I saw Mookie coming in, but now I don't see her.  Oh well, I've got her coffee mug down, and ready to fill it, when she does show up.

......52 degrees now and overcast.  This pattern is lasting just a bit too long.  Possibility of some rain today but should not be all day with it.

.....Wondering if we'll hear from Jen this morning.......?

She stopped in, but it didn't sound promising.

Grey and gloomy here this morning, but a promise of sun for the afternoon.

Bearclaw and tea.

Larry, it's cloudy and gloomy, here as well.  Rain to be back in sometime this afternoon.

Since it's such a day, I've got two things simmering on the stove for today:

1.  Beef Stew and

2.  Vegetable beef soup.

Going ahead and making up the cornbread, but won't be putting it in the oven, for about another half hour.

The first question they asked me and my box of tissues was whether I had a strong support group.  I nodded yes, so they let me go pack my office.  I couldn't tell them just how good the group is.....

It will all work out for the best.

Thank you all for your good thoughts.

I am so sorry, Jen. I know how you feel. I got riffed once. We had a special project that turned out very well. Management was very happy and called a meeting to tell us so. According to the vice president, we were the best the company had, each of us was special etc and they were proud to have us as employees. Next day we got the pink slip. I survived that and you will survive this too. Like the old saying THIS TOO WILL PASS. Love ya

My mother is still dealing with the fact that, at 82, she is now fully retired.  It comes as the result of her injury last Thanksgiving and her employer was kind enough to let her retire as opposed to just "letting her go."  They had really gone out of their way to keep a productive employee, moving her around into work she could handle.

Every end is the chance for a new beginning.  Their loss will be someone else's gain.

We're with you all the way!

Tree.

.....Jen, like Tom said....This too shall pass.  If you decide to continue in the work force, I'll bet the next employment will be a better one.

Jen,

I too, have been through the experience of having lost a job, and it's happened to me more than once. And I as well, have been through a wide range of emotions over having lost a job. But hang in there, kid. If your trust is in God, He will place you where he wants you. All of us are standing behind you, we support you!

I will keep you in my prayers, and I will bet you anything that God your Heavenly Father has plans for you and your future. Angel [angel]
