Ok, I'm back with pictures of my attempt at creativity. Most of you probably are aware that I am an HO scale modeler. On my section of the layout I have decided to kitbash a cafe: this one! It'll have a kitchen added to the backside and there will be a sign outside.
Here it is pre-kitbashing. I'll update folks as time warrants.
A closer view, it's an ex-SP coach that I had no plans for.
Dan
Need to vent the kitchen. Get a health permit. Paint it a bright color. Hire a good cook and wait staff and work them to death.
Go to bank at least once a day!

Dan I can see the sign out front now.the snow is going right up I-71.Latest guess is 2-4 inches of snow.My niece came home from dayton today on spring break.Cw thanks for supper.mamma got some extra popcorn at the store this morning.she also has some strawberries too.time to go see what matt is up to.larry have a safe trip.

Dan, like the looks of you Diner for your layout! Joe, thank Stacey for us for getting extra popcorn, and the extra strawberries. Thinking about pancakes tomorrow morning, with fresh strawberries. And with what I've got, maybe some strawberry muffins. But for right now, I've replenished the warmer bar with fish for tonight's Fish Fry.
Reports on the weather here: the heavy snow should be starting somewhere around 7:30 to 8:30 tonight, continuing on into tomorrow morning, possibly early afternoon. They already closed at least one of the local malls, and the others are closing early.
You all have a good evening, stay inside, and stay warm and safe.
Larry, have a safe trip, and hug the baby for all of us.
.....So far, this "storm" moving thru has provided what I have to call just a "trace" of snow here so far today. Cincinnati and Columbus, Oh and points northeast, are in line to get some really nasty stuff. Blizzard conditions with lot of snow.
Quentin
Larry, have a very safe trip, and what CW said.
Dan, very curious to see what the sign says.
Snowing rather heavily here now, maybe we will get that large total they
keep talking about.
Looks like a very good evening to stay inside, sit next to the fire, watch a movie
and munch on popcorn.

good morning
well mother nature is blowing and drifting some snow here.juice coffee tea and hot chocolate are ready to go.we also have strawberries to go with some pancakes too.hey Mutt do you have the batteries for the smoke detectors? I'll get the big clock tonight before I go to bed and spring it ahead.
Good snowy Saturday morning, everyone! Joe, thanks for making the beverages for this morning. I'll help you with breakfast preparations. I do believe Mutt has batteries for the smoke detectors, but I'll check with him, after he wakes up!
Our thermometer is showing 30, 31 degrees outside, but in the outlying areas, they have said the temp is in the mid to upper 20s, with windchills right around zero. Currently the snow totals are ranging anywhere from 6 to 9 inches; and they say that when the snow ends later this morning, we could see at least a foot of snow. And it is very windy, so the snow is drifting in some areas.
They are rolling a lot of closings at the bottom of the morning newscast, mostly churches that have cancelled Saturday music practices, meetings, etc., along with the college Saturday classes. I know I'm not going anywhere, staying right here inside!
Everyone have a good morning, stay in if you can, and if you have to go out, be careful out there!!
....Overnight the system provided perhaps a good strong 3" and it's not quite stopped yet. It is to wind down this morning and slide off to the east. Low 20's here now.
I am off to Phoenix for the weekend - seeing family that are 'snowbirds' from Minnesota. We will see some spring training games today and tomorrow. Will be back for breakfast Monday.
All of you who have to be out in the winter weather please be safe, whether driving or walking.
Jack
Joe, Mutt said he's already checked the smoke detectors here at the Cafe: everything's good to go, he replaced the batteries, and he's got extra batteries on hand. Here at home, we have the detectors that are good for ten years, and we've got a couple years to go on them. Then, we'll have to replace the detectors.
I'm busy making up the pizzas for tonight, Sarah's shoveling the steps and sidewalks around the house, and Mutt's trying to get over a very bad headache he woke up with this morning. That's why no one has seen him in here this morning.
....Sarah seems to have lost interest in the forum. Perhaps the work schedule has influnced that. Just don't see her on here much anymore.
It is getting so bright here now so the cloud layer must be moving on....The snow has stopped. We might have {overnight and this morning}, a total of 4 to 5" of the stuff....It seems like a very light, dry snow....But still that much, is too much....anytime. 25.3 degrees now.....Even being below freezing, neighbor across the street had just finished shoveling his driveway and now already it is half melted right down to the concrete. Sun {even thru the light clouds}, now has power...
here cw I'll help you with the pizzas.the snow has stopped here in nw ohio but we still have a foot drift in our back yard. That is just with about 2 inches of snow.we got lucky this time.can't wait to spring ahead tonight.
Joe, got the pizza cutters out, here's one for you. Thanks for helping, Joe! As you can see, I made four extra large pizzas of each of the following:
1. Anchovie2. Cheese3. Goetta4. Hawaiian5. Pepperoni/mushroom6. Pepperoni/sausage/mushroom7. Supreme8. Calzones
We'll slice up two of each kind, and put out on the warmer bar. Leave the other two of each kind and see if we need to pop them in the oven later on tonight.
Quentin, between Sarah working, and other activities, she hasn't had time to get in here. Hopefully, one of these days, things might slow up a little bit, and she'll be able to drop by.
Has anyone seen or heard from the following: Jay, Ray and Tom?!?! They seem to have been MIA lately.
Good afternoon everyone. Thanks for the calzone!
Weather is getting much better now--it's 71 degrees outside and sunny as I type this.
Cw I have moved the clocks ahead in here for the time change.hope Mutt is feeling better.the snow has moved eastward.A lot of church services east of I-75 are cancelled.the girls state basketball tournament is postponed until monday.going to get cold tonight.
The Blue Ridge or the gulfsteam seem to have shielded us in DC from all the rough weather this winter. I saw crocuses last week! I keep longing for my Reading PA childhood winters, when battling the snow and walking in the vehicle-less streets to school or Mass was a frequent event.
I'm not ready to move to Buffalo but Hagerstown Md has a certain appeal.
RIX
rixflix aka Captain Video. Blessed be Jean Shepherd and all His works!!! Hooray for 1939, the all time movie year!!! I took that ride on the Reading but my Baby caught the Katy and left me a mule to ride.
Good Sunday morning, folks! Hope everyone remembered to set their clocks up an hour. We did (well, a couple still need to be done).
Coffee, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot tea are ready, and I'm getting breakfast ready: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits, sausage gravy, your choice of hash browns or home fries; or, you can have oatmeal & toast with a couple strips of bacon.
I only know of two local churches that are having services this morning: one out in the east end area, and the church across the street from us. Have a great day, and if anyone has any suggestions for Sunday Dinner this afternoon, please let me know, so I can get started on it.
Well after a mostly wet ride (with some snow on the north end) I arrived in MD to sunny skies and got to my son's place before they got home with the baby. That worked out well, as I took care of the dogs before they arrived.
She's a little sweetie, and I've gotten plenty of "hold time" in with her (and plenty of hugs!). Even got to give her a bottle for a little bit.
I'll get a picture or two out when I get back to my other computer - I don't think the 6 Mb files would set well here on forum.
Time to check the clocks - everybody is on "flex time" in this house right now.
.....Congrats to G'pa.....Muncie has low 20's temps right now and this upcoming week, it is to get waaaaay warmer.
Streets and roads are mostly dry now.
Cherry bloosoms can't be far behind around the Potomac and DC.
Almost all clocks are set properly in this house....3 of them set themselves, including my wristwatch. Have 2 or so to set manually yet, and then that is finished for some months.
Since no one has made any meal requests for today, guess I decide. Hmmm, what to have today in the Cafe?!?! Let's see now. . . . . okay, here goes:
Pork chop abacadababra, w/onion and your choice of rice, or poatoes, brussels sprouts, spinach, cream style corn and fresh baked cornbread or crescent rolls.
Beverages: coffee, hot tea, iced tea, hot or cold cider, RC Cola, Big Red, Coca Cola, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sprite, etc.
Desserts: chocolate cake, spice cake, yellow cake w/caramel icing, white cake w/coconut cream icing, and the following cobblers: apple, cherry, peach and strawberry.
Can you believe that Easter Sunday is two weeks from today?!?! Where has the time gone?!?!?!?!

An hour of it disappeared in an instant last night...

Sleep? What's that? Actually, I'm doing fine, but the new parents are taking a beating already. Something about those every-two-hour feedings... Gramp's staying an extra day to help out (when helping out is holding the little sweetheart, how can I miss?).
Another major springtime event happens next weekend - my fire department's annual St Patty's Day Chicken Barbeque. It's on Sunday, and there's plenty of chicken reserved for the Cafe.
Good Monday morning. Larry, even as an aunt, I remember those every two hour feedings with one of my nephews. You hardly get anything else done, and Little Mama is wiped out! Good thing they have Gramps staying an extra day. And we'll look forward to the Chicken Dinner next Sunday!
Coffee, and all the other beverages are ready to go this morning. On the warmer bar: turkey bacon, oatmeal, toast, scrambled eggs, sausage, turkey sausage, tater tots, bear claws and bagels.
Hope everyone is able to make it back in today, and that you all had a very good weekend.
morning
cool morning but no extra snow.Cw thanks for breakfast.time to get a nap while matt goes to school.
...Bright sunshine in my window here and temps climbing a bit. Above freezing so snow is retreating. See some grass sticking up thru it in the back yard. Streets wet or dry, but free of any snow. Tomorrow is to be really nice into the 40's.
