Really good chili is normally allowed to simmer on the stove for about 4 hours, that's the way we do it at Wendy's. Therefore my pot of chili should be ready to serve by about 5:00 PM, CST. And my bread dough is going through it's first rising. If it were really possible for anyone of you folks to come knocking on my front door, you would be able to smell the aroma of freshly baked bread even before I open my door!  Chef

Joe, thanks for bringing the crackers. That is something I never thought of!

I'll get the coffee going this morning.  Mook should like her mug topped off and ready to go.  Donuts, beagles, bearclaws, and fruit are out as that's all the stuff I've got time for as of now.  Running late (hard to fathom at 4:23 AM)!

Has anyone heard from Ed Benton lately? He was talking serious surgery last time he came aboard and nothing since.

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  We have a current temp in the low 50s, supposed to get up to about 75.  Then, the rain comes in sometime tonight, as the cold front approaches.

Dan, thank you very much for breakfast this morning!

Tom, I'm also wondering as Ed Benton is doing.  Hopefully, someone around here can provide us with an update, maybe Ed himself.

Have a good morning, everyone, and see you all later.

Good morning!

Dan, thanks for serving breakfast this morning! I think I'll pour myself a cup of coffee and grab a roll while I am in here.

Currently here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota we have a grey, cloudy, overcast sky and a temp of 40 degrees. We have a 70% chance of getting some rain at some point today and a 70% chance of snow for tomorrow. I still haven't cleaned out my gutters yet!Banged Head

I hope the rest of you out there all have a good day!

......Mid morning here finds 62 plus degrees and partly sunny skies.  Should warm into the low 70's by afternoon.

Believe I'll try to make a pass over the lawn while weather is so nice and do a mowing and mulch what leaves have blown over from nieghbors.  Not too bad in that respect now.

Cooler this weekend and some light rain possible.

Weekend coming fast.

Looks like we've been kind of slow in here this morning.  I've warmed up Ray's chili and the beef stew he made yesterday, and made some fresh cornbread for the beef stew.  It's ready and on the warmer bar.  Got some sandwiches made up to go with the chili:  PB&J and grilled cheeseRay, looks like you made enough, so there'll probably be enough of both for supper tonight, as well.  Thank you, one again, for fixing both yesterday afternoon.

Everyone take care, and have a very good afternoon.

EDIT:  I'm really glad that Ray fixed enough yesterday, that we could have leftovers today.  A semi pulled up out front earlier, and took a  couple of big branches out of our pine tree in the front yard.  So, we'll be out most of the afternoon, getting that cut up, and carried to the back.

Let me check the calendar here.  Yep, November 6th and it's 70 degrees in the wilds of northern New York.

Gonna bail out of work a little early today so I can go get a flu shot (mixed blessing?).  Then it's off to put our pumper back together after some repairs and then the fire meeting.  Bed's gonna feel good tonight!

My own bed is going to feel good tonight, considering what I have been dealing with for the last two or three hours. I have been having some problems with my neck and shoulders to the point where I have been very uncomfortable at work. I came very close to blacking out and collapsing in the Kitchen where I work within the last couple hours. Enough with all that! I have booked an appointment with my chiropractor tomorrow morning. And on top of all this, I lost the left lens out of my glasses. I figured I'm due for an eye exam and new glasses. The numb feeling in my shoulders does not respond very well to heat, and I only get temporary relief with an ice pack.

I may drop out of sight for a few days because of all this, but at least the rest of you folks know what's going on.

Busy afternoon and evening here also; those "branches" the semi took

out of our Pine Tree this morning were much bigger than what we lost in

the Sep. Windstorm.

Good Friday morning, everyone.  I hope you all had a very enjoyable evening.

Coffee, hot chocolate, hot water for tea, cider, and juices are ready.

Chocolate covered doughnuts, long johns w/cream filling, chocolate covered, cream filled doughnuts, apple danish, raspberry danish, peach danish, regular cake doughnuts, bagels, muffins and bear claws are on the counter.

Most of the 'rain' is east of us this morning.  If we got any overnight, it must have just been sprinkles, because street, sidewalks, are dry.  The morning paper wasn't even in a plastic bag this morning.

Mookie, your coffee mug is down and ready for you.  You all have a good day, and if anybody wants to join me, I'll be out in the garden, enjoying my coffee and a couple of cream filled long john doughnuts.

Good morning, it's Friday. 48 degrees and clear in Carolina, on the way to 80 today. I wish I had a deck on this house, or a screened in porch. I would like to sit there watching the squirrels, rabbits and birds. My girls chase them all off when they see them, so it is a moot point I guess. It is funny to see them chase a squirrel up a tree and then sit there guarding the tree long after the squirrel has long since snuck away..... Everybody have a great day

Good morning.....

It started snowing here last night, and so far we've gotten barely a half an inch. We have a snow advisory for later this afternoon and we could get another two inches of snow out of this system. Right now we have a temp of 32.5 degrees. The Black Hills of South Dakota and Rapid City, which is about 400 miles west of here, got hit much harder with a snow storm in the last 24 to 72 hours, with drifts 4 and 5 feet deep.

I will board a bus for my chiropractor's office in less than 3 hours, and for the most part right now I am doing O.K., but I still need to have some adjustments with my neck and shoulders. I went to bed last night at 7:00 and managed to sleep until 4:00 this morning. And I slept fairly well.

I will try to report back in later this afternoon. I hope the rest of you out there all have a good day.

I'm sitting here listening to my radio and it's been announced that I-90 from Mitchell, South Dakota (about 75 miles west of Sioux Falls) has been closed all the way out to the Wyoming border due to the snow storm out in the western end of this state, and our state highway authorities are advising "NO TRAVEL".

Tom, the entertainment value in watching the wild life near your home is well taken....Here joining our back yard is a local golf course and a mature line of trees lines up across the fairway....{left over from 45 years ago when it was a farm fence row....}, and it is a home for many squirrels.  Such agile ability is not seen in many living creatures.  They can jump from limb to limb and tree to tree with confidence as I would walk across the yard.  Their "play time"  action  almost defies gravity.  Their claws allow them to assend and decend a verticle branch like it has steps on it....

So any pups waiting for a squirrel that might have assended a tree will have a long wait if they think they will be coming down the same path.

Weather...Almost a broken record.....Clear skies and blazing sunshine.  Temps moderating again this morning.  High 50's and about to head into the 60's again.  What a string of such weather we've had.

Perhaps a bit of yard work again today.  Wind has settled and  we'll try to mow and mulch leaves.  The shorter grass then, allows the leaves to blow on thru...

I see the nasty stuff in the upper mid west...3 and 4' of snow, ugh....Thankfully not here yet.  Not even the rain last evening they were speaking of.

Best wishes to all for a good week end.  Just don't look at the financial programs on TV.....Terrible and getting worse....

Sounds like a good dinner!

Still rain in the forecast for the weekend.  Shouldn't be a major issue on the train as long as I don't have to spend too much time outside.  I've got plenty of indoor stuff I can do on Sunday.

Tuesday is Veterans Day, so I'm off work.  I'm thinking of trekking over to the George Eastman House in Rochester to take a look at their "Railroad" presentation.  They have one exhibition of Link, one of stuff from their collection (with photos by Plowden, Hine, Coburn, Jackson, and Freres), and one of video by Andrew Cross.  Might just be interesting!

Howdy. At present, 67 degrees and clear in Carolina. Feel free to send some of that white stuff here if you wish. It would finally get rid of the pollen and moskeeters that currently plague us. Just don't overdo it. Several inches will do just fine. It looks like a nice weekend is in store for us, but wish it would cool down some so that the winter conditions for the wireless would kick in. Yall have a good weekend

I think that one was/is part of the one that was supposed to give us our rain this weekend.

Looks like it's sort of fizzled out for now. (cooler temps though, highs in the 50s, not 70s.)

You guys have a good trip, Great weekend and be safe.

Meant it!

Would like to have some decent weather for tomorrow, but guess I'll have to

Good Saturday morning! Breakfast is served!

For breakfast this morning we have coffee, orange juice, cinnamon rolls which just came out of the oven, banana nut bread, made using a recipe that originally came from the Northern Pacific Railway, cream filled rolls and bear claws, and of course we also have buttermilk pancakes topped with pineapple and strawberries, waffles, hot maple syrup,  scrambled eggs, bacon and pork sausage links. Chef Enjoy!!

I saw my chiropractor yesterday morning, and I am doing a lot better, and was a lot more comfortable working my shift at Wendy's yesterday afternoon. I am not totally out of the woods yet, I still have two more appointments with my chiropractor ahead of me next week. I am not in constant pain and I guess that's a good thing.

I hope the rest of you out there all have a good day!
