Dan and Misty - Congrats.  It's a new journey!

Picked up some candy today, so I'm ready for the rabble.  Did pick out all the dark chocolate for myself.

Hadn't been doing the housekeeping on my cell phone, so I didn't get the text messages that granddaughter is in the hospital for a little shortness of breath.  She's doing OK, but needs to be in for observation for another night.  Knowing her dad (he is my son), he's a nervous wreck.

Here she is hanging out with my bud, Smokey (one of their miniature doxies) a few days ago:

Larry, is that Evie?  She sure is growing.

Tried to get some candy for the "Trick or Treaters" we don't have; but it didn't work.

(ate it all on the way home from where ever.)

We don't usually have that many "Trick or Treaters" anymore, and do select the candy;

but don't usually go through that process

(if we did, our weight might change to where we wouldn't like.)

Had to go to the Library today, on the way home I tried to take a picture with

the cell phone camera; bus bounces too much, no pic.; would have been a good

one if I could have caught it.

(please excusemy edits, this new" Forum Format" and me are not getting

along very well!)

This does not sound good to me. I hope that he is not on the verge of having a stroke or something and I hope the doctors in the E R can do something for him.

Wellll, I was seen by an old time country doctor who knows his stuff. It turns out I have pink eye and shingles on my face. Apparently, it is not all that serious, only painful, which it is very much indeed. Three doctors had looked at it previously and told me it was just a headache, which should shortly pass. This afternoon, I knew better, and finally I can get some treatment for the stuff. Thanks for the kind wishes.

Tom, I'm glad to hear that you finally got a "handle" on this. While I have never had shingles, it is my understanding that it can be very painful. I've had pink eye a couple times before and based on my experience with it, I can tell you that it can be downright miserable. At any rate I am glad that you saw a doctor who knows what he's dealing with when he sees it!

Good photo of activity with granddaughter at home.....And the little wiener dog...We had miniature Doxie dogs for 33 years....One at a time, but just two of them.  They are almost human too.

Haven't been down to see them since July, but I can tell she's really starting to develop some personality.  Should be fun at Thanksgiving.

She's still a tiny thing, though, a point brought home by comparing her to the pup.

Tom - If a shingles and pink-eye can be good news, they certainly are.  I recently attended a seminar on stroke - they're starting to get a handle on them, much as they have with heart attacks, and prompt treatment can make all the difference in the world.  I'm sure you'll get it all under control soon, now that you know what's going on.

Well Tom; why is it that we know more than the doctors that

supposedly treat us?  'Cause we know what bothers us most!

Hope that doctor got the remedy correct; and hope you don't

have to go throught stuff you shouldn't have too.

Our Thoughts and Prayers are still out there for you and others

that need them.

(FYI, for what it's worth; I HATE Drs. and won't go unless it's

totally serious.)(define serious.)

I like my doctor, but I will not go see him unless I absolutely have to. I am without health insurance and it's $80.00 up front for an office visit, even if I am only having his nurse check my blood pressure.

I've got the coffee brewing and I've mixed a fresh batch of orange juice. Pancake batter is ready for pouring on the grill, and I've got the bacon frying, and I am about to scramble some eggs. There is also french toast with hot maple syrup for anyone who wants it. Chef

It's a cold morning here in South Dakota, 29 degrees. Although I suppose it will eventually get colder than that.

I hope everyone out there has a good day!

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  Sun is coming up, looks like it's going to be a very good day today!

Tom, I hope you are doing a little better this morning.  Also hope that the ER doctors will find out what is causing all those headaches!  I know you are very tired of having those headaches, and hope they can find a way to not only relieve them, but find out what is causing them.  I'll be praying for you, Buddy!  Get better soon!!!!

Had kind of a rough night, so didn't wake up until after 7:30 this morning.  But coffee is ready, and so is juice, hot water for tea, and on the warmer bar this morning:  pancakes, syrup, bacon, sausage, eggs, tater tots, bagels, bear claws, cinnamon rolls, and cantaloupe.

Everyone have a great day, and be careful out there, whatever you have lined up to do today!

CW, if you go back and read one of Tom's last posts (7:01 Pm last night), you will find out that the doctor he saw told him he has two things, pink eye and the shingles. I've never had shingles before, but it is my understanding that it can be very painful. I've had pink eye a couple times, and it can be downright miserable. Anyway, I for one, sure hope that Tom makes a quick recovery.

Guess it's about time for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.  On tonight's menu:

1.  Anchovie

2.  Cheese w/extra cheese

3.  Chicago style

4.  Goetta

5.  Hawaiian

6.  Pepperoni/mushroom

7.  Supreme

8.  Calzones

There are three extra large of each of the 7 pizzas, and about 2 dozen calzones.  So there should be enough of everything for everyone.

You all enjoy  your pizzas, have a great evening, and DON'T FORGET TO SET YOUR CLOCKS BACK ONE HOUR, AND CHECK/CHANGE YOUR SMOKE DETECTOR BATTERIES!!!!!

I've looked at the menu for tonight's pizza fest which CW had posted earlier. Can someone tell this ignorant guy from South Dakota just what the heck a "calzone" is?? Many Thanks!

Now I think I'll grab a couple slices of the Hawaiian pizza while I am in here. I just got home from work and I am starving!

Okay, seems this "New Forum" format doesn't recognize passwords that

have been used for about 5 years;

took me awhile to log on due to what I just mentioned.

Ray; a Calzone is: "a baked or fried turnover of pizza dough stuffed with

various fillings, usually including cheese".

Everybody; Please check your Smoke Detector this evening before you go to bed.

Replace batteries if you need too, put a detector  up if you don't have one.

If you don't have a smoke detector, you might not wind up enjoying that extra hour

of sleep; instead of just the extra hour, it might become permanent.

(don't forget to set your watches and clocks back an hour also!)

.....53 degrees now and looks like a really nice day shaping up....

But boy it will get dark early this evening.  Not used to that.  And darker, earlier each day until about the 15th of December when we turn that around with a later sunset....

Halloween over now and didn't see any evidence that we even had the holiday in this neighborhood.  {Except some displays in windows, etc.}

Good morning!

My "inner" clock got me up this morning at 4:30, and the clock on my livingroom wall was still showing 5:30. I am up, being that I am unable to sleep beyond that point.

Joe, thanks for fixing breakfast for the rest of us. I think I'll grab some pancakes, bacon and eggs while I am in here. Gotta get ready to go into work for my other part-time employer, which I do not mind doing.

The December issue of Trains arrived in my mail on Friday and the piece about the Canadian Pacific Railway fighting snowstorms in in the Canadian Rockies looks interesting, and I will probably settle down to read it tonight.

I hope the rest of you folks out there all have a good day!

Nice fall day.  Nov 2nd and 78 degrees with warm sun and low humidity.  Is this possible in the true midwest?

Spent the day out frolicking in the leaves.

Ok - we went to the bookstore and had some coffee and then watched a couple of trains.  But there were leaves around us.

CW & Mutt accidently got themselves locked in the diner closet and can't get out.  We have the locksmith on his way to try and get the lock undone.  So dinner will be whatever you can cook or order in.  Don't look at me....I'm busy checking my eyelids for holes in the corner.

Found some leftover barbequed chicken in the freezer.   MMMMMMM!

Took in the CNYRHS train show in Syracuse yesterday, then worked a murder mystery train last night.  Rode up to the restaurant on the engine (an F).  Haven't done any over-the-road on either of our F's up until then.  Nice ride.  I still don't know whodunnit.

Nice sunny day today, if cool.  Mowed the lawn one last time, then put the mower away and got out the snow blower.  Still have to pull the pull cord on it, but the electric start works...

I wonder if my coach key will open the closet door.
