Sing along, now -

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,

Cars in ditches aren't delighful,

So you better not need to go

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

I am kinda hoping they'll delay opening work in the morning, though....

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Nice chilly morning here; temp is in the mid 30s, w/a windchill in the low to mid 20s.

Coffee and other hot beverages and juices are ready.

You'll find all kinds of things on the breakfast/warmer bar this morning, ranging from turkey bacon to hot cereal to bagels and bear claws, and everything in between.

Have a good day, you all.

Good morning, it's Wednesday. 33 and clear 15 minutes before sunrise in Carolina this morning. I've had a headache for several days now, so I won't be up too awful long this morning. Everybody stay warm and safe

Tom, do you suffer from sinus infections?  I do, and I've had a headache like that for a week now.  Usually, later in the day, it will ease up, so that I hardly even realize I have the headache.

Good morning! This is my first visit here since Trains Magazine made all the changes. Right now we have a temp of 28 degrees here in Sioux Falls, and it had gotten down to 14 or 15 degrees here a couple nights ago. I might grab myself a bear claw to go with my oatmeal for breakfast this morning.

Tom, I too hope that you are able to get rid of your headache soon. I know that it's no fun waking up with one in the morning.

I have the day off today, but I'd rather be working. I've got a few issues of Trains awaiting to be read, so I reckon that is what I will be doing this afternoon.

I hope the rest of you out there all have a good day!

RAY!!!! We were getting concerned about you. It is good to know you are OK. Thanks for the wishes about my headache. I hardly ever get these things, but this one has stuck with me. Seems to be in the area of my left eye. Paula, I don't know if it is sinus or what, but that is normally not an issue with me. Take care Ray, and don't stay away so long anymore, ya heah?

Tom, what you have described sounds like what I was dealing with five years ago. I had a constant, dull ache in my left eye for a long time, I went to see my doctor and he in turn sent me to a specialist........and the specialist could not find anything wrong. I had just gotten back from a cruise-tour of Alaska and this condition almost ruined the trip for me. I have since then had a couple minor flare ups of the same condition. Please go see a doctor if this does not let up!

Good morning everyone.  It will be a bright sunshiny day here in the flatlands.  And a bit warmer to - into low 70's tomorrow.  Will seen it along to you just as soon as I have warmed up.

Tree:  I wondered about your area.  Saw the snow on the morning tv and had to laugh when you answered my quesiton.

Gentlemen - headaches.  They sound like sinus, but also a male form of migraine.  Men get a little different headache than most women, but in either case, when the Driver gets his, I use hot compresses and OTC pain killers.  Put the compresses (as warm as you can stand) over your eyes and nose area.  Or run hot water in the sink and breathe in the warm humid air.  My girlfriend used to make herself some hot tea and then as she was drinking it, would hold the cup next to her forehead.  Just be careful!

Usually the hot compresses will dilate the blood vessels and ease the pain a little.  Also, try rubbing the cords in your neck.  Right at the base of the skull.  Gently.  You sometimes can find a sore spot right there.  None of this should cost you much more than your time, but you might get some relief.

CW - some of the above might be helpful to you also.  And think about changing your pillow.  I went to a straight feather pillow (non-allergenic) and can shape it pretty much the way I want for comfort.  Even a cheap pillow would help, just not for as long.

Off to do mischief.  Maybe antagonize the neighbors and talk to the squirrels.

CW - want to have lunch on the patio?  I will bring my appetite.....maybe a few peanuts.

Well, work delayed opening, as did a lot of schools.  Roads aren't too bad, but the heavy snow has taken down some trees/branches, all too often with wires involved.

Still snowing a little, but temps are above freezing.  Forecast for Friday is 55 degrees, it'll all melt...

Bearclaw and tea.  Got some hot projects to work on.

Wow....That kind of stuff shocks one back into reality.  None of such around here yet...{a blessing}.  Today, right now....it's 42.8 degrees and mostly sunny skies.  Minimal wind.

Want to get a mowing done but it's to be warmer tomorrow so may let it slide another day for the warmer weather.  Think I'll run the truck thru my favorite car wash....already got the haircut accomplished.  Wife shopping down in Indy and I'm to wait for her to get back so we can go to lunch together....No problem with that.

Headaches.....!  That had been a problem with me for many years of my life.  Dr. worked on it years ago and finally a daily med. was prescribed...slight blood thinner.  That was a turning point.  I would get headaches to the point I'd have to be in a darken room and lay down and be quiet along with over the counter headache pills and sometimes it would not cease for many hours.  For years now that problem has been reduced to a very bare minimum.  Not really much of a concern anymore.

I do have a prescription med. available to take if I get the migraine serious type headache, but rarely have to do so anymore.  And I'm thankful for that as serious headaches can be terribly debilitating

Allow me to make the next pot of chili, CW. We serve a lot of chili at Wendy's and I make a good share of what we do serve. Our chili is allowed to cook for four hours before serving and it's really good! Chef

Tom, in and around the area of my left eye is where most of my

headaches (sinus) seem to start. Usually just discomfort and what

feels like pressure building up there. If it gets bad enough, I'll

usually get some O.T.C. sinus stuff; seems to take care of it

reasonably quickly.

Ray, Welcome back in; try not to stay away so long!

Ray - Wendy's chili is a favorite with both of us.  I order that with a chicken sandwich and a milk and savor every minute of it!

Mookie- In the length of time that I have worked for Wendy's, I have seen the same people order our chili time and time again, so I know it's pretty good stuff. I go back to work tomorrow after having had today and yesterday off, and I might ask our new manager if I can take some of the chili home with me to reheat in my microwave for dinner......maybe I can bribe her with a loaf of my homemade bread. Normally I get a 50% discount in meals at Wendy's, providing I order a meal within a half hour before or after I begin working my shift.

Chili - That reminds me, I have to make up a batch of "crock pot chili" for work for tomorrow.  We're having a chili "cook-off."  I make mine fairly plain.  I'd imagine that at least one batch will be in the "four alarm" category.

Gotta make an apple pie for the dessert contest, too.  That'll be more work than the chili.  That's mostly opening containers and dumping things into the pot.  I do have to brown the ground beef, though.

Neither will win awards for originality, but will probably still be quite popular...

Gotta make sure I've got the sharp cheddar to go along with the pie, too.

Tree - I did the Cheddar on Apple Pie thing for the first time when we did lunch at Bennett Lake, BC on the WP&Y. I was a little skeptical at first, but now can't imagine having Apple Pie any other way! Good stuff!

While I've never baked a pie before, I am a self-taught bread baker, and I use all the old fashioned, traditional methods in baking bread where everything is done by hand. I could probably teach myself how to make an apple pie without too much difficulty. Chef

On a side note, when I was a kid and still living underneath my Mom & Dad's roof, we had an apple tree in our back yard and one of our neighbors to the southwest of us was Engine Company #4 of the Sioux Falls Fire Department. I used to fill a large paper grocery sack full of apples and I would trade them to the Fire Department for just a few candy bars. And these fire fighters would take my apples and make homemade apple pies with them! Fire fighters are good cooks and I bet that Larry would agree with me on this.

Thought I would drop by to try out that pie, but alas the place was closed. I was thinking that maybe a slice of lemon icebox pie with some fresh coffee would be good for desert one night.

Take care all

Good morning!

The coffee is about done brewing and I've mixed a fresh batch of orange juice. I've laid out a generous assortmant of rolls, donuts and bear claws from the Sunshine bakery. A bowel of pancake batter is ready for anyone who would like pancakes this morning. French toast is also available along with scrambled eggs and a sliced ham.

We have 46 degrees here in Sioux Falls. Does anyone out there have it colder than us?

I hope everyone has a good day!

Alas, I think our landlord was having some issues.  I couldn't get in last night, either.

The pie and cheese are ready!  (Hope you like 3X cheddar - one step below "bite ya back")

Chili is simmering for lunch, too.
