Good Thursday morning to one and all!  Ray, thank you so much for getting everything going in here this morning!  I slept in  this morning, and seem to be moving in slow motion this morning.

We have a current temp of 37.4 at 8:39 a.m., and looks like we had a light frost last night.   Can't remember what I heard our high is to be today, but I believe it's supposed to get up to 60.

Are there any requests for lunch and supper menu?  Roy, I'll be starting to bake some more pies for the Cafe in about a couple of hours.  There'll be lemon icebox, apple, peach, strawberry, cherry, and chocolate.  Next week, I'll probably start fixing the pecan, pumpkin and sweet potato pies, getting a head start on Holiday Baking.

Paula, the weather in Louisville for today is supposed to be fairly nice, according to the information I get from the Weather Underground. You will see a high of 63 degrees this afternoon. It is supposed to get up to about 67 here in Sioux Falls with partly cloudy skys......perfect fall weather if you ask me.

I don't have any suggestions for lunch, but I think when I get home from work this afternoon I will bake a couple batches of cookies to go along with whatever pie is available for our desert tonight. Chef

I have some burgers, cheeseburgers, brats and sloppy joes ready for lunch; also on the menu:  fries, cole slaw or garden salad, or chips.

Still in the process of baking pies, so that's why lunch is on the 'meager' side today.

Paula, how about chicken fried steak for supper this evening, along with peach cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream. Quack sez that I don't have a sinus infection, and writes it off as an old fashioned MKI headache. Well, whatever it is, its the durndest thing I have had for quite some time. It's back to the tylenol 3 again, My blood pressure is acting weird too, 109 over 59. Everybody sez thats wonderful..... Seems low to me.

Whilst in the navy, I heard tell of a guy during WWII who was getting drafted. For 3 days before his physical, he drank cup after cup of coffee, trying to get his blood pressure up. He passed anyway, and went into the navy. In 1944, on Guam, he had a physical. The corpsman took his BP, and looked at it, took it again and looked at it, took it a third time, looked at and it left. A few minutes later, he was back with the doctor who took it a fourth time, and said. "Wow, as low as your blood pressure is, I'm surprised you weren't rejected at your preinduction physical".

WooHoo!  My chili got 2nd place, behind a "Cuban Surf-n-Turf" and ahead of some "4 Alarm" chili.

I have the ribbon at my desk.

A fruit pizza won for most original dessert.  Then again, how original is apple pie?  It is popular, though!

Gotta find a quiet corner to sleep in....

Tom:  My Dad had a physical back in his 50's and the doc said:  "Lay down, Man.  You are dead."  He had an incredibly slow pulse.  Still going strong at 91.

Congrats Tree!  And I am with judges - fruit pizza is just plain delicious!  Nice change of pace!

It is on the lower side of things. I'm generally in the 92/60 bracket which is also low. Because of that, I get temporary blackouts if I get up too quickly after a period of rest or something along those lines. I also tend to get "tunnel vision" and get close to blackouts on really good roller coasters, too.

It's definately better to be on the low side of things, though!

It is high 60's here and a bit of a wind - like enough to mess up a hair-do.  I sat out on the south side of house and had to come in and get a jacket.  Keep telling Driver - remember we are going up to 70, not down from 70.  (shiver)

Chris, you are so right. When I had my stroke, my BP had fallen to about nothing and they pumped me full of saline to get it back up, and then it skyrocketed. Bam-stroke and let's learn to walk again... Normally, I am around 120/74 until this morning. Lower is definitely better, within reason of course.

.....I'd bet it'll melt soon and you will get more chances at that mower Larry.  And yes, Now I'm finished, yard mowed.  Not a bad sunshiny day.

Chicken fried steak w/home fries, green beans, hominy and cornbread now available on the warmer bar.  Along with peach cobbler w/vanilla ice cream for dessert.  Thanks for the suggestion, Tom!!

I can't remember what our high got to today; but, I do know that it was a very pleasant, warm afternoon.  When I took my afternoon walk, I only had to put on a light sweat jacket.  Very comfortable, while walking.

You all enjoy supper, and have a great evening.  Joe, a container is ready for you for work tonight:  it's in the fridge, waiting for you.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready.

For breakfast this morning, we have:  pumpkin shaped cookies, chocolate cupcakes decorated as pumpkins, skeletons, werewolves, witches, ghosts, zombies, etc.  (Bet you all thought I'd have the regular Friday Danish and Doughnuts, right?!?!)

You all have a great morning, and please don't cause too much trouble today. Evil

......Another nice Fall morning here in Indiana....46 plus degrees and going higher for today.  Lots of sunshine.

In fact, for the next 5 or 6 days, we're to have warmer days and quite a bit of sushine.

Morning everyone...and what a great day it is!

How about some news of the good variety...I'd like all of you to know that my wife and I are expecting our first child sometime in early/mid June.  I can't wait to be a father!

Have a great Halloween and be safe!

Dan,

The birth of your first child is certainly something to look forward to. My prayers are with you and your wife, I hope that your first child will be born healthy and without any complications to either the child or your wife.

Dan and Misty:  congratulations!!!!!!  Best wishes to you both, and to the extended family.

Sent birthday greetings to my nephew this morning.  He's  42 today.

Our Friday Fish Fry is now under way.  Any kind of fish you might want, plus fries, hushpuppies, cole slaw, baked beans and macaroni & cheese.

Desserts today:  apple pie, peach pie, pecan pie, apple cobbler, peach cobbler, and plenty of ice cream.  There's also some chocolate cake, for us chocoloholics.

Everyone have a great day, watch out for the little trick or treaters this evening, and enjoy your afternoon.

Dan and Misty - Congrats.  It's a new journey!

Picked up some candy today, so I'm ready for the rabble.  Did pick out all the dark chocolate for myself.

Hadn't been doing the housekeeping on my cell phone, so I didn't get the text messages that granddaughter is in the hospital for a little shortness of breath.  She's doing OK, but needs to be in for observation for another night.  Knowing her dad (he is my son), he's a nervous wreck.

Here she is hanging out with my bud, Smokey (one of their miniature doxies) a few days ago:

This headache is getting worse, and definitely not just a headache. It's off to the emergency room to see what's going on. Wish me well

Tom - Take that headache seriously.  While most headaches are relatively harmless, they can also be a harbinger of bad things, especially with us older folks.
