The roast, taters & carrots are on the warmer bar.  To go along with that, we have:  shellie beans, corn, cole slaw, and fresh-from-the oven homemade buttermilk biscuits.

Desserts for today:  chocolate cake, apple pie, and peach cobbler; along with several different flavors of ice cream.

Larry, could that detective be one who lives in the lower corner of California?

Mookie, enjoy your Chinese lunch, and hope you find some activity at your local railyard!

Chinese was delicious as usual.

I was right!  The parade started just before 1 and went until 2:30.  Saw mostly coal, but also an EMDX engine, a GP60 and some freight of all shapes and sizes.  Had both south tracks tied up at one time and lots headed Joe's way.  Think one of those "regular" coal runs is headed for Alabama.  Need to find someone down there that would know the car marks.

Beautiful afternoon - breezy, but blue and cotton ball sky.  Perfect late summer day - not too warm and low humidity.  Had to come home and do a little home barbering.  4 ears see light again.

Off to paw through the fridge, then Bridezilla on tv tonite....Mischief [:-,]  Those ladies should be totally embarrassed!  And some of the men, too!

Wonder if Sir Chicken saw the Weiner Race in Cincinnati?  Da Boyz would have loved it.  Real hot dogs!

No sign of RWM yet (plenty of others from his outfit) or the others. Dissappointed that the outdoor REMSA show did not happen. Mooks would love to see the tonka toys that got inside along with the other displays. Joe woulda had fun with da sheep-jump frog right inside the door - looks kinda strange, like a flangeway is missing. We saw the weinerdog races in Cincy, .....da boyz would have eaten the bunz and scattered in the other three cardinal directions (being the stubborn scottish dogs they are, it would be beneath them to comply with racing rules, and they would investigate other directions)

.....A new week with a start of {now}, 62 plus degrees.  Bright sky over in the east.....Sun will soon peek at us.  Looks like a rather warm one for today.

All the RR machinery M C is relating to being in an exhibit hall sounds interesting....including the chrome laden 1958 Pontiac.

Good Monday morning everyone.  Sounds like mudchicken is enjoying the conference, and Mookie is enjoying her new shoes boxes. Wink [;)]

When I awoke at 6:00, we had a temp of 60 degrees, but it has probably dropped a couple of degrees now, since the sun is coming up.  Fall officially starts at 11:44 a.m. ET this morning.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready; and on the warmer bar this morning:  oatmeal, toast, bacon, eggs, sausage, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy.  Along with the prerequisite bagels and bear claws.  Can't forget them, now, can we.

Hey, Mook:  want to join me out in the garden for a cup of coffee??That's where I'll be for the next little bit.

Cw - little late this morning, but maybe brunch on the patio?

Joe - chocolate cake?  Please e-mail some.

MC - How did you get west - you usually always go east?  We had a big crane tonka toy go right down O street Sunday and I nearly jerked the steering wheel out of Driver's hand to try and follow it.  No clue where he was headed - since viaduct pretty much completed.  Maybe going to stand by the new arena by the old CBQ depot that hasn't been approved yet.

Geometry car moved on.  Need something new to take its place.

Mookie, chocolate cake?!?!  Hmmm, that's sounds very, very good right now.

For our 'patio brunch', we'll have:  BLTs, tuna salad sandwiches, tater tots,  some cantaloupe chunks and pineapple slices,  and whatever else anyone would like to have.

For supper tonight, got some beef stroganoff in the Crock Pot, and we'll have garden salad and cooked rice to go with the stroganoff.

Desserts to today:  homemade brownies, chocolate cake and strawberry cheese cake.

The guy coming to measure me for the knee brace called earlier, and he'll be here about a half hour or so earlier than planned.  That's fine with me.  Forgot to ask him, though, if I just get measured for the thing today, or get measured and receive the brace today.

Guess that's about all the news I have for now.  Not too much going on around here yet, today.

....A beautiful day here at the noon hour....Beautiful sunshine and moderate temps with low humidity.  Perfect.

And I just returned from the dentist...{5 min. away}, and we had a lost filling replaced.....It only took 10 min. in the chair.  But, it's not surprising, this dentist has a great group of professionals {female}, and they really know what they are doing.

Seems to be lots of train activity on the Frankfort line of NS this morning.....Quite a few trains coming in from the west.

Fixed Chinese for tonight:

1.  Chop Suey

2.  Chow Mein:  beef, chicken and shrimp

3.  Won ton soup

4.  Special fried rice

5.  Pepper steak

Got measured for the knee brace; now, have to wait for insurance to approve it.  Wonder how long that will take.   Especially since a prescription was written for the brace.

You all enjoy your supper, and have a nice evening.

Evening all.....

And the boogity boogity parade keeps going, parked for the night near Ashtabula, OH, on my way to Ohio's largest brewery in Trenton.  Just wishing the idiot next to me would shut off his truck, it's a beautiful night to sleep with the windows open.

Jay, great to see you around, hope to see more of you.

Mudslinger Chicken, have seen some of those items flying down the interstate, those oversize boys take the cake sometimes, always interesting to see what comes down the road sometimes (once saw a hopper car on it's side on a flatbed trailer, only thing missing was trucks).

Larry, I see the color is starting to pop on I-81, in two weeks it should look stunning in that area.  Since I started driving, love the color in New York, PA, and West Virginia in the fall.

Time to snuggle under the covers, temp is already in the 50s here, should be great sleeping weather.....

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Pleasant morning here, with a temp of 67 degrees.  Going to be a rather warm day, with a high in the mid to upper 80s.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are ready; on the breakfast bar this morning:  cereal, toast, bagels, bear claws, sausage & biscuit sandwiches and toasted BLTs.

For all you photographers who come in, how about, since Autumn is here, posting some of your autumn shots (with or without trains in them).  And, since it's early in the season, autumn shots from previous years are more than welcome to be posted in here.

Have a good morning, everyone, and I'll see you after I get through with Tuesday Produce.

Update: Have been found by RWM and Matt within about 5 minutes of each other yesterday. (About 17 college students in yesterday's "Meet the Next Generation" presentation with various flavors of engineering students getting an eyeful of how much is possible as the current crowd of railroaders start retiring/ leaving in the next 5 years....Havre, MT's Chamber of Commerce would not have been happy about some of the jokes made at its expense, but beyond that it was a good show. Far more industry recruiters in the room than available students looking at a railroad career.)- Hope Matt saw some of this.

Cool and clear here this morning - I don't think there's a cloud for miles!

Randy - I haven't checked the "color charts," but it is definitely getting bright up this way.  Maybe we'll be spared any storms until well after the colors peak.  All too often, just as things are getting really colorful, we'll get a windy, rainy storm that blows all the leaves right off the trees...

Kinda late, but that bearclaw still sounds good...

Yeah, the trees are beginning to show more color around here, also.  Especially the ones that started turning colors back in July.  That's one thing I miss, when we had the oak tree in the back yard.  But, last week, I we were really glad that it was no longer in the back yard!  We would have probably had a nice size hole in our roof.

The lunch part of our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta is now on the warmer bar:

1.  Tacos (hard & soft shells); 2.  burritos (beef, beef & bean, beef enchilada style), enchiladas, chimichangas, Spanish rice, fajitas

When Dare to Care showed up today, with the produce, we didn't get any potatoes or watermelons today.  They brought us:  green beans, corn, romaine lettuce and cabbage.

During the past week, Dare to Care has set up several stations around the metro area, and handed out a lot of potatoes and watermelons, along with other canned & boxed goods, for the people who had no power in their homes.  So none of the ones who usually complain about what is brought to us, did any complaining today.  It was really nice, not to have people complain about what was or wasn't delivered.

You all have a good afternoon, and I'll be back in later on this afternoon.

Only 43 right now, but looking to be a beautiful day!

Filling in a staffing gap on Saturday, as conductor.  Could have worked a couple days this week on the railroad but couldn't get away from work.  This gas thing isn't helping any.

Bearclaw and some tea...

Cold front went through.  I think.  Trinkle of rain.  Cool overnite.  80's today and rest of week.  Guess it was a cold only at nite front.

Been playing Mrs. Domestic.  Think I am getting the hang of it.  Fridge leaking water.  Call landlord.  Drip pan needs replacing.  Kitchen sink leaking.  Call landlord.  Replace entire faucet system.  Bathroom sink elbow dripping into wastebasket.  Call landlord.  Replace fitting around faucet unit - not properly installed by last landlord when new sink and vanity installed.  When sink gets good cleaning, water splashes around base of faucet unit and drips down underneath.

See how domestic I have become!  Approve [^]

Need a cup of coffee so I can figure out some more domestic items that I need to fix!

Tree - since I quit working, Millie hardly uses any gas at all.  I think there is a trade-off in there somewhere - no income, less gas - but want to ponder that a little more. Must factor in less train watching after work, too!

Greetings to CW & Diner friends,  a lot has happned the last 3wks. Got new med card and reenlisted in CDL club. There seems to be a ( Big Brother is watching Ariz.) thing. Something bout border crossing trucks.~~~ Any hoo cant' stay off the slab , so signed on the ( extra board ) for week end line haul.  Not for the money , ( incureable wanderlust ) . It wont' interfere with rail trip in Oct.  We get to see the road from the rails for a change . Tea & crumpets  for a snack here in the Diner please.  Respectfully, Cannonball
