Well, spent the weekend on the railroad.  Hadn't planned to work on Saturday, but we were short a conductor, and, well, I'm a conductor now...

Talk about a spectacular weekend.  The only thing we were missing was sun.  Jack Frost was very busy with his paintbrush and the Old Forge area is pretty much at peak fall colors.  Words don't describe, and I didn't have my camera on the train with me.  I did take one shot with the camera phone - I'll see if I can get it on-line later.

We did have some rain - made for some damp work at times.

Time to do some get-ready-for-work-tomorrow chores and call it a night.

Hello all, how's everything in the FWC?

Been kinda busy lately, painting and installing ceiling tile, but it's getting close to finished.

Good Monday morning, everyone.  Dan, very nice wedding pictures!

Larry, could you send us some rain?!?!  We haven't had even a drop of rain for three weeks.  We sure could use some rain.

Coffee, juices, hot water for tea, and hot chocolate are all ready.  (Even have some hot cider, just in case Mudchicken comes in and wants a cup or two).

On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, hash brown taters; cereal & toast; bagels and bear claws.

Hope you all have a good morning!!

Well it looks like I am the first one in here this morning, so I will take charge of serving breakfast. The coffee is about done brewing and I've got some fresh orange juice ready to be poured.

This morning's breakfast menu will consist of scrambled eggs & bacon, buttermilk pancakes, pork sausage links and french toast with maple syrup. I also baked a pan of cinnamon rolls. Chef [C=:-)]

Dan, I saw a few of your wedding photos. My congratulations are extended to you and your bride!

Right now we have 50 degrees here in Sioux Falls. We had a bit of a thunderstorm here last night and it's not supposed to get above 65 degrees this afternoon. So it's looking like it will shape up to be a pretty nice day here.

I hope the rest of you out there all have a good day!

Still no rain around here.

Wouldn't you know - the one picture I took with my cell phone was in the middle of a bunch of evergreens...  But if you look up the tracks, you can see what covered all of the mountains up that way (OK, those from Colorado will scoff, but that's what we've got here...)

Nothing short of spectacular.  Talked to a friend who lives there - he said this is the best display he's seen in a while.

And on a humorous note:

I was doing the run-around during our last trip on Saturday (a wine train - and no, I didn't have any), which, of course involves throwing a couple of switches.

One of them not only had a frog, but a toad as well.

He didn't get flattened.

....Not a bad pic from a cell phone.....and the track looks pretty good too.

Unlike our cell phone....{almost new}, don't even know how to take a pic with it...The newer the phone we get, it seems more difficult to operate.  First one we had was the least hassle...{19 years ago}.  But the most expensive too.

Just looked at the current radar weather map for the US and saw that the only rain anywhere is a line of rain fall running through Wisconsin and Illinois.  Figures.  Today a painting crew was supposed to go to work on my the top level of my house.  Oh well.

Starting to see some fall colors here.  Expect to see more on trip up to the farm this weekend.

Got my list in hand:

Dan - such a nice wedding.  Such nice pictures.  I seem to have missed the shot with the little train on the wedding cake?  And the cake doesn't look like chocolate to me?  Someone forgot?

We are having 60' weather - and sunny.  In the 70's all week.  Drip of rain overnite - no more for all week.  Perfect early fall!  And still very green.

Uh - Brian?  Hear on radio that someone in Cedar Rapids had a little more in their morning coffee than was necessary for flavor?  Mr. Bat Coffee?  Turn mah cup over.....

Gonna go play in the sheets!  (time to strip and change the bedding!)

Brian, it's good to see you in here.  You too, Jay!  Both of you need to come in more often.  Larry, you've got about as much color up there, as we do here in Louisville.

Think our low this morning, was about 57, 58 degrees.  But I think we're supposed to get back up to about 79, 80 for today's high.

For our noon and evening meals, I've fixed and put out on the warmer bar:

Roast, taters, carrots, green beans; country fried steak w/mashed taters & gravy;

Other side dishes:  corn, cole slaw, garden salad, apple sauce, macaroni & cheese, potato salad, fruit salad.

Everyone enjoy your meal, and I'll see ya later, alligators!!

Huh?  I heard that story a day or so ago, but didn't catch where it originated.  A search of the local news sites has nary a word on it.  Neither does foxnews.com, and they're usually all over a subject like that.

Brian, et al who want to explore this:  Go to Google News.  I put in "Bat in Coffee" and it came up right away.

Suggest you not do this close to an eating time or....maybe want to try a new recipe?  Just have your bat certified before....

Ugh....

I never followed the DJIA real closely, but obviously heard it regularly on the news even back in my HS days.  Almost seems like I can remember a time when a 700 point drop would have put the index into negative numbers.

How times change.

I saw where someone (erroneously) figured out that the rescue package - if paid out to the taxpayers - would amount to 5 or six figures, with the surmise that it would be better to simply give each of us a check with which to pay off our mortgages, etc, rather than bail out the very folks who got us into this situation to begin with.

Come to find out, the real number was in the mid-three digit range....   Sad [:(]

I agree with you there. Now send out the lifeboat (when Congress wakes up), presenting a very large bill to the bankers for rescuing them. Europe, you may have noticed, has the same problems.

Times do seem to be getting worse for most people, and not just here in the U S of A.

I've got more roast, taters, carrots, country fried steak and all the sides out again on the warmer bar.  And Joe, there's a couple of containers ready for you, in the fridge, for work tonight.

Supposedly, we may see a little bit of rain sometime after midnight.  We could definitely use it.  We are not only below normal rainfall for the month, but also year to date.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Supposedly, we got some rain overnight, and aparently some thundershowers; if we got any in our neighborhood, I slept through it.  Never heard any raindrops, thunder or saw any lightning.

Coffee, juices, hot water for tea, and hot chocolate are ready.

And on the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  oatmeal, toast, bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, hashbrowns.

You all have a good morning, and I'll see you all later.

It is another damp day up here in the Granite State.

As I was driving home from work yesterday morning I noticed some of the most magnificant fall colors that I've ever seen being trapped in the great North East in 15 years.

I guess it has a lot to do with all the rain we received over the last few months, the colors of the trees are so vivid, oh how I love the Fall in New England, it's the winter that I hate to no end.

Well I'm doing well I guess, I got my first blood tests back after being stuck with a dirty needle on the job and everything looks good so far, I'll be tested again at the end of October and then a few more times over the next year.

I managed to get my land ready for winter and hope that we do not see another like the last one.

Just checking in too say hello and wishing everyone a great week.

Well, I'm back from Produce.  Today, they brought:  cabbage (regular and Chinese), carrots, cole slaw mix, shredded lettuce, avacados and corn.   To be the last day of the month, we didn't have too many people:  ended up with only 72 people, total, today.

Anyone ready for Tuesday Mexican Fiesta?  on today's menu:

1.  Burritos (beef, beef & bean, and beef enchilada style); 2.  Tacos (soft and hard shells); 3.  Enchiladas; 4.  Chimichangas; 5.  Spanish rice.

Brian, glad to see you come in this morning!  How are you and Joanie doing?  Hope you are both well.

Jesse, glad to know that everything is still showing o.k., regarding the dirty needle incedent.  Hope everything continues to go all right for you.

Mutt said he saw the lightning, then heard the thunder, around 3 this morning.  Guess I was 'dead to the world' as the old saying goes.

Take care, everyone, and I'll see you later on this afternoon.
