Zardoz - I appreciate the information.  Our landlord has a no pet policy since we lost Mookie shortly after he took over.  So dogs and cats are verboten.  But I think I could still have a gerbil or hamster.  Just not sure I want to hear something on a wheel all nite - in 405 sq ft up and 405 sq ft down, noise travels really fast!  And not sure I want grief every 2 years or so.

Meanwhile, I will continue to enjoy the squirrels that are very close to learning how to ring the doorbell for their peanuts.

Wonder if Furminator would help with all the hair on the bathroom floor (mostly mine as people who have met the Driver will attest!)

Amazingly, it doesn't seem to do too well on furniture and such, as it snags fabric easily. It only works on the pet.

Mooks, time to get a new landlaird! My girls are stubborn and aggravating, but they are a part of my my life. If I had to give them up, I would move. There are other places....

I  have a special comb my daughter acquired for the Dal.  That, combined with a special shampoo, is supposed to render him "shedless" for a while at least.  Considering the amount of hair I get off him with just the comb, I suppose that if I spent long enough going over him from stem to stern, he wouldn't have enough loose hair to shed.

The problem with the other dog is worst in late summer, which seems to be when she sheds her under-fur.  In clumps...

Or, I can just vacuum a little more often.

Actually, the Dal doesn't mind the vacuum.  I take the hose right to him...

Mookie, I thoroughly enjoyed our down time today!  Thanks, I think I needed that today.

But, need Dan to explain the three birthday cakes.  All three sound yummy!

For supper tonight, you all will find on the warmer bar:

1.  Homemade vegetable beef soup

2.  Leftover pork chop abracadabra w/mashed taters, gravy, and and garden salad

3.  Beef stew w/cornbread (and there's plenty of cornbread, in case anyone wants cornbread with your bowl of veg. beef soup)

Everyone enjoy your supper, and have a good evening!!

Good Friday morning, everyone.  And Dan, please accept my sincerest apologies for missing your birthday yesterday.  But, your birthday is now on the Birthday Calendar, so that won't happen again.  So, anyway, Happy Birthday, Dan!!!  Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday], even though I'm a day late with the wishes!!

The following beverages are ready to go this morning:  coffee, juice, hot chocolate, hot cider, hot water for tea, and plain ole white milk.

Our Friday Doughnuts, Danishes, Bagels, Bear claws, and muffins are on the counter.  I'm going to grab a chocolate covered, cream filled long john, and an apple danish, and will be over in one of the booths.

Going to be out and about around lunch time, so would one of you please take over for me, on our Friday Fish Fry?

....East central Indiana has partly sunny skies this morning and a bit cool...54 degrees right now.

Just can't admit we're heading into the cooler stuff....Avg. high here right now is 70 degrees.  Still not bad and the next 4 or 5 days are to be somewhat warmer here....Mid 70's at least.  That's better.

Now if someone can wave a magic wand and resuscitate the economy....Sure hope the H of R's pass the "rescue" bill today to give our economic situation a chance to even begin to improve....it might be too late.....Hope not.

Anyway, it's Friday but that doesn't make much difference to a retiree.  Our street seems to be ready for the new pavement so we'll be watching for that to happen.

Good weekend to all.

It's a little past 9:00 AM here in Sioux Falls and we have a temp of 50 degrees. It's supposed to warm up here to about 73 later this afternoon. I have the day off and I should use my free time to do some long overdue house cleaning here. I must do a load of laundry and shop for groceries. My neighborhood Sunshine grocery store has my employment application on file and I should let the store's manager know that I am still interested.

Happy birthday to Dan! Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday], I hope your day will be a GOOD one!

No apoligies needed but thanks anyway!  I think I'll see if there's some left-over cake to help jump-start me today.  Can't seem to get all cylinders firing.

Okay, we didn't get out as soon as planned.  So, I've gone ahead and fixed lunch.  On today's fish menu:

catfish, cod, perch, bass, halibut, flounder, scallops, clams, jumbo butterly shrimp, corn on the cob, cole slaw, hushpuppies, fries and baked beans.

And for dessert, we have:  fresh-from-the-oven chocolate cake, yellow cake w/caramel icing, and peach cobbler.  That oven's really gotten a workout this morning!

Getting ready to head out, so see everyone sometime later this afternoon or early evening.

Last night, it was Botswana and a passle of Europeans, so this morning should see some asian activity. Everybody take care.

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  Sorry I didn't make it back in last night.  I was so tired when we got home, that all I wanted to do was collapse into my chair, and SIT.  Sarah, Walt & I went to the Stewart Flea Market yesterday afternoon.  It was in a different section, than it's been the last couple of times we've went.

Joe, thank you for getting breakfast ready this morning.  I'll have some orange/pineapple juice, a cup of coffee, and a couple of cinnamon rolls.  I hope you and Stacey enjoy your anniversary night out, and Happy Anniversary to you both.

Everyone have a good day, and I'll see the rest of you all later.

Joe, all the best and a very happy anniversary to you and the young lady. You might consider an apple pie(or peach or whatever) as a relief package to all us economically challenged folk here in Carolina.... Take care

Good morning folks, we have partly cloudy skys here in Sioux Falls and a temp of 46 degrees. I am wondering how long I can go here without resorting to turning up my thermostat for heat here. It's supposed to warm up to about 75 degrees here this afternoon and then it is supposed to start cooling down here bit by bit throughout the coming week.

I offer my congratulations to Joe and his wife as they celebrate their wedding anniversary this weekend, and I hope the two of you have a great weekend!

Jen, think kyou've had a busy day?  For the last 30 hours or so I have been trying to get around to say hello to 75-100 high school class mates, most of whom I have not seen for the last 50 years.  Trying to catch up on everything with everybody has been a real test of the ear drums and vocal cords.

I suggested we get together a little more often.

Back to the grind tomorrow.  Four weeks to a trip on the CZ to California and back.

Busy month.

Joe - an almost belated Happy Anniversary from sunny Buffalo!

Decent day at the conference - several great speakers (and one not-so-great).  Went to the banquet tonight and got our award.   The plaque is headed back to headquarters with the crew that came down on a bus just for the banquet.

More sessions tomorrow, including a talk by a police chief from Minneapolis about the bridge collapse.

Haven't seen any trains except the tram that runs up and down what used to be Main Street...
