Dr. today....Dr. Friday....Today to our dermatologist, looks like I got in some poison but question that, but it's serious {left leg}, and some other spots...Hope we can deal with it quickly.

Friday a review of meds.  Former Family Dr. retired {with him 45 years}, and must have new one check them {meds}, out for any updating needed.

We have 51 degrees here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and it rained here all night. We had gotten a little better than 2 and a half inches of rain here since Saturday.

My main employer has given me most of the week off, and I am not really happy with that, I need all the hours I can possibly get in order to make ends meet, pay my utility bills and feed myself. So I'm out looking for additional work. I submitted an application with Burger King yesterday, and today I will be submitting applications with Famous Dave's Barbecue and Dominoes Pizza. My sister is gonna help me run a few errands, so I'd probably better hit the shower and get myself cleaned up and dressed.

I hope the rest of you out there all have a good day.

Getting lots of work done around the house.  Who knew that we had 23 extension cords?  I do, now!  Also found:
-2 broken ceiling fans,
-37 lbs of drywall screws,
-100' of household (3 wire) electrical wire,
-all the missing dog/cat toys.

Time for a break...so I'll see what CN is up to today.

OK, the extension cords, ceiling fans, wire, and dog/cat toys I can understand (and probably find in my house, except the fans).

The 37 pounds of drywall screws has me thinking, though....

Probably either the result of overestimating need, or going to the home improvement store and not being sure if you have enough - "so I'd better grab another..."

MC - Willy is being very cagey about winter forecast.  Looks like NE will be cold and dry.  Colorado, however, is another story.  I have a feeling the politicos will want to shore up some of the economy so will order mucho snow for their skiing constituents.  But will wait to see what the Omaha Oracle Meterologist has to say.  Probably "clear and still" - clear up to your tailfeathers and still snowing.....

Well, we only had 60 people at Produce this morning.  And they brought today:  apples, lettuce, redishes and cucumbers.  They told us we could make salads.

Tom, I'll also be going to the doctor this afternoon.  My new brace was delivered just about an hour ago.  Will be meeting the rep from the ortho. place there.

Our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta is now on the warmer bar:

Tacos

Burritos (beef, beef & bean, beef enchilada style)

Chimichangas

Fajitas

Spanish rice

Tortilla chips w/your choice of picante sauce, salsa, or con queso, green pepper sauce

Now, I will exit from here, and start getting ready to go to the doctor's office.  See you all later, and enjoy your meal.

I agree.  Most of that came from my wife's father (works in construction) and he'll always take home stuff that's useful.  My train of thought (had to get in a RR reference) is that too much of a good thing is a bad thing.  Currently working on insulating pipes and sealing cracks around windows/doors.

Thanks for lunch CW!

Bwahahaha... Is this winter going to be fun or what?

Seriously, although I don't really care to give winter forecasts (they're essentially useless) this winter does look like it has the potential to be snowier and colder than normal for lots of people in the United States. There, now that I said it'll be colder than average, you can count on it being warmer than average!

Had a nice rain yesterday. I measured 0.91" at home and I know that some spots just a couple of miles farther west got over 2 inches of rain. It was an interesting gradient in amounts as amounts fell from around 2 inches to around half an inch in the space of only a couple of miles.

Despite the rain yesterday, I honestly can't remember a nicer fall than this has been. The other shoe will drop eventually.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Currently not raining at our place; but it is still raining in the general Metro area.  According to the weather report this morning, we have received 3/4 of an inch of rain since it started yesterday afternoon.  Some areas to the WNW of us have already gotten 1.5 inches.

Mudchicken, have a safe trip, going and coming back.

Coffee, juice(s), hot water for tea and hot chocolate are all freshly made this morning.  And, you'll also find hot chocolate, and hot cider, if you'd like that.

On the breakfast bar this morning:  turkey bacon, pork sausage, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns, bagels, bear claws.

You all have a good morning, and if you're in an area getting much needed rain, try to stay dry.  Does anyone have any meal requests for today?  If so, let me know, please!

Good morning, CW, Quentin and all. At present, 56 and clear in Carolina, with a good chance of rain tonight. I have been up since 0400 and been messing with the wireless with nothing worthwhile to report. Jimmy Dean dropped by with some biscuits this morning, so will pass on the diner. Right now, I's feelin fine and am thinking about a nap in a while....

mmm - good coffee on cool morning. Thanx Joe. Had one cup with breakfast and then fell asleep in chair watching the no-news on tv.  Lots of things can keep me awake, but coffee doesn't seem to be one of them.

Another gorgeous day here in the true midwest.  Right on Willy!  And we have a new generation (only 1) of the birdy species that has long ears and white, fuzzy tail.  They seem to ignore the corn we put out for them and eat the birdy seed.  Wonder if they will learn to sing or just bring Easter baskets.....

Whatever; it is all good.

For me it is not good.  Found out that last night when I thought I had a Kidney stone which would have been nice at least those pass.  However turns out I ripped a major back muscle loose in my back during a Seizure.  The docs are wondering if I need surgery to reattach it or not.  I hope not I hate surgeons.  For me that is all I need right now.  Give me a cup of coffee to go and I will chase it with 2 Vicadin and my toridal.

....This is the time of the year when it could push a cold spell across us, or....like it's to do this weekend...in the 80's with sunshine.  Transition time.

Most of the leaves are on our trees yet.  But, oh the daylight hours dwindle so....until about the 15th of December when we start to gain more back in the evening.  Then we wait while Winter unfolds for it to increase both in the morning and evening {about the last of the 1st. week in Jan.}, and the daylight hours work their way on towards nice weather....Spring....!  And our good weather cycle starts all over again.  But first, Winter...

Tom, do you have a local club on 2 meter that you converse with on a daily basis.....Like your "hometown group"....?  Locally here, {especially when I was still working}, I'd hear the local fellows chatting on the morning "weather net"....Many of the regulars checking in etc.....{I'd listen with my 200 ch. prog. scanner}.  Not sure if I remember correctly:  146.73mh....Haven't tried to listen for some time now...The club is located here in Muncie.  Repeater is on top of Ball State Un. Teacher College building, a 10 story structure giving them rather wide coverage in our flat country.

.....Ed....Sorry to hear of your latest situation.  Will add you to prayer list so as not to forget.

...Update:  We have attracted Humming birds last Summer as we installed our first feeder on our window in the family room, hence, we get close look at them.  Just removed the feeder for the season.  Noted the last bird at the feeder Oct. 1st.  They migrate, some as far south as Cental America for Winter.

Edit:  Robins {lots of them, back in this area last week after seeing very few for weeks and weeks now.  They must be working their way south.

Greetings from Winston-Salem: Start to a midweek day with something to talk about on almost every subject according to MSNBC.

Presently 58 degrees, overcast, w/ winds SSE @ 5 to 10 mph,  perhaps some showers later in the afternoon.

My only comment is from an old Scotsman I once knew:

"In bad occurrence in the present are the seeds of a good future sown."

Have a great day

Nice sunny day (if cool) here in the north woods.  Looks like that through the weekend, too.

Doing fire prevention for the kids on Friday, working the railroad on Saturday, barbequing chicken on Sunday.  One of these weeks I'll actually have a full weekend off.

Back to the grind.

Well; I'm not sure about the Dog and Cat Toys; they don't seem to be missing anything.

We have a few extra extension cords, probably could use an extra ceiling fan though.

How much does it cost to ship drywall screws from Wi. to Ky.?!

We have cloudy conditions here, at 12:40 EDT.  Looks like the rain has moved on.  Current temp is in the low to mid 60s, and our high today is to be 70.

For today's lunch and supper, how about this menu:

1.  Chicken & dumplings

2.  Leftover tuna noodle casserole

3.  Open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters & gravy, corn, green beans and garden salad

Desserts:  chocolate cake, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, apple cobbler and peach cobbler.

Mudchicken, give Happy B-Day [bday] wishes to BossHen from all of us here at the Flatwheel Cafe!!

You all have a good afternoon, and take care!

Quentin, we have a local club that I helped found in 1975 and it has three repeaters. One on 146.85, 146.97 and 444.100 (I think). There is not a lot of activity on them at present. The repeater you listened to was likely 146.73 or 146.745 output frequency. These days, there are such strange splits that it's hard to determine base frequencies at times. I just spent some time on high frequency (HF) and talked to folks in Israel, France, Italy, South Cook Islands, Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands. It was an interesting opening.

Ed, what can I say.... You are in my prayers and I hope your discomfort is minimal. It would be best to expedite your surgery to make this thing past tense. Be blessed and take care
