Good Friday morning to one and all.  Very muggy here this morning. Temps are in the mid to upper 70s, and humidity is at 78%.  You sure can tell it's Crusade for Children time around Kentuckiana.

Coffee, tea and juices are ready, and our Friday Morning doughnuts, danishes, bagels and bear claws are on the counter.

Guess I'd better get a couple more blueberry pies out of the freezer, and put into the oven.  Then, I'm going to head right outside the door, and watch the trains go by.

Good Morning People!

Just dropping in for a cup of coffee and a whole blue berry pie....I'm in a hurry and will eat it on the way to work!!!

Today is drug testing day at the ambulance company, I had a pregnant friend drop by last night to loan me some (rymes with tea) and boy is the lab going to be scratching their head when they get to testing that Whistling [:-^]

Have a great day, oh ya, I'll be picking up some 18 gage wire on the way home tomorrow morning, I learn so much by getting it wrong the first time!

Hope everyone has a grand day!!!

see you all down the line!!!

Well, 2 AM and I just got back from a tree and wires down call, plus hanging around in case somebody discovered something else.  While we were out on that one, another department covered two other tree/wire calls at the other end of our district.  Oddly, we were the only district to get any calls from that particular storm.

Another round is coming through - hopefully without the wind.  They are promising lots of rain, however, and the weather station is already carrying a high rainfall of .63" in an hour.  Might beat it yet tonight.

Time for bed.

Supposedly(?) a quiet night here weather wise. Think maybe the batteries in the NWS

Radio are thankful for a break.(at least not a recharge anyway)

Jess, if any of that wire is going to your track, it should be 12-14 gauge; the 22 gauge

for building lighting is okay, but  18 gauge is better.

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

I'm at the end of a two day rest from the job and wouldn't it figure, it rained for both days, the temps were nice but everything is wet and soggy.

Well since all my chores were outside work I let the wife know that I'd be working on my Train layout and that I was not to be disturbed by phone calls unless it was a dire emergency!!!

I finally purchased the project box, 22 gage wire (Blk & Red) and 7 micro toggel switches.

I spent the day soldiering the wires from the 30 structures to the switch box.

Any day I can work on my layout is a day well spent, I heard the wife tell a few people that called me that I couldn't come to the phone and that was a blessing, I hate to be deep into a project then have to leave it and come back only to find that I forgot exactly were I left off!!

Have a great 24 hours my friends, I start another 24 hr shift tomorrow so I should be off to bed, "now where did the wife put my choo choo PJ's"?????

Night All!!!

Just had .02" of rain in a brief downpour, but my walk home from the fire meeting was dry.

If any of you live in between Omaha and Oklahoma City, now might be a good time to get your Weather Radio on and in Alert mode.

Be careful out there:

Flooding {must have been massive rain north east of us overnight}....Highest water we've seen here in Muncie for some years.  River out of channel and well up on the flood plane.  All of our public park and several ball diamonds here at Yorktown are totally under water.  Road from here over to old part of Yorktown looks like a causeway.

Lots of damage in our state during these passing storms producing tornados this past week.  I must say we have been lucky here.  My rain gauge had 2.5" of rainfall for previous 36 hrs.  I know much more than that fell northeast of us to make our White River overflow as it is right now....Watch out Walt.

Q, not sure if the Ohio will come up much more than it is now; according to todays paper, the lower gauge is at 13' and upper at 31', well below flood levels.

(Flood levels here for the Ohio; are 23' upper gauge, and 55' lower gauge.)

[At certain times, Steamboats have been noted to lower their stacks in order to pass under both

the highway and railroad bridges.]

For a change, we're NOT supposed to get any rain for about 36 hours.

Bit unusual for this time of year, especially since it's the 55th Annual Crusade

For Children weekend; it almost always rains one day of that. (there is a chance

of rain Sat.)

According to our  thermometer, it's 92 right now and feels like the humidity is

that high also, even though it's not.

Hi Murray - We are due for a pounding again in about 2 hours - but will probably just be those usual straight line winds and lots and lots of rain.

Would stay and visit, but have some hugging to do on another thread.

Its been hot, windy and very dry down here in South Texas.  Its almost a repeat of 2 years ago when we got next to no rain.

You guys in the upper midwest sure have been taking a pounding.

Be careful up there...and be sure to keep your weather radio on and in the alert mode!!!!!

She's not into solid food yet, so no M&M's.

I did pour myself a bit of soda the other day, though, and just brushed her lips with a bit of it.  She was definitely curious about that.

She's gramps little sweetheart...

Larry, Baby Evie is adorable!  She is going to be a real charmer when she gets older!!  Of course, she's probably already got Grandpa twisted around her little finger.  Definitely an adorable little girl.

Our current temp at 11:52 a.m. is 85.5 degrees.  At least there's a nice breeze blowing outside.

For lunch today, I've fixed cold cut sandwiches (roast beef, turkey, bologna & cheese, tuna salad, and BLTs.  And there's plenty of chips to have with your sandwiches:  regular, salt & vinegar, hickory flavor, ranch, etc.

Plenty of ice cold beverages:  Gatorade, lemonade, tea, and for anyone who likes it, iced coffee (can't stand itmyself, even though I do drink coffee at room temperature) and milk.

I've been past the places hit by the storm a number of times.   They area has taken a beating.  The storm they had last Saturday did a bit of damage, including ~$200k worth on the house of one of my son's friends.

As promised, a few pics of the grand-baby:

Love the wry smile....

"Chatting" with their neighbor after dinner on the deck.

All dressed up for "school" (day care) the morning I left.

Mook we get that break up thing here too.  One local weather guesser attributed it to the presence of Lakes Winnebago & Butte des Morts.  If a storm is strong enough it'll go overhead but sometimes a storm will 'split' and hit Appleton or Fond du Lac and we won't get much.

Everybody in their places this morning.

I was in at 4 am, but no one here, so went puttering.  We had tornados west of Lincoln last nite.  They sounded our sirens, but the storms never did get all that close to us.  (him and me) Lincoln is becoming so sprawled out that the fringes are always in danger, but the storm did the usual thing - drove up close to Lincoln and then went north.  That was bedtime.  Then at 3 am, the real storm hit us - high wind and sideways rain.  I heard it over a noisy fan and central air, so got up to check it out.

Tree - heard about the tornado in MD - thought about where you and family were.  Glad you are all ok.

CW - bring along a really big cup of coffee - I am a little water logged this morning.  Starting to grow rust on my north side.

Willy - have a college dissertation for you - Lincoln weather.  I think you know what I mean.  We don't have tornados, but have EF1 straight line winds.  Huge storms fall apart just as the get to us.  Or go around us and then reform in Omaha and Iowa.  Is it our lack of "real" water?

Sun out now.

Well - back at work.  Rather be in MD.....

No weather on tap here that I know of.  Temps are mild.  That front is hanging around, though, and the mid-Atlantic region and west of there looks to get hit again.

Good Thursday morning to one and all! Slept in this morning, but I'm here, and have breakfast and beverages ready.  Plenty of coffee for us coffee drinkers, hot water for our tea drinkers, iced tea, and Joe's oj .

On the breakfast bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage, buttermilk pancakes w/your choice of maple syrup, blueberry syrup, or strawberries to go on top; bagels w/cream cheese and bear claws.

Very warm and muggy this morning.  Temp is in the mid 70s (our thermometer is showing 77 degrees outside).

Ray, hope your job plans work out for you!

Tom, if you or anyone else wants, you may have a slice of strawberry pie for breakfast!

Mookie, how's about meeting me out in the garden this morning?  Seems like a very nice morning to visit the garden.
