As I was driving north from Maryland, my son texted me that a tornado had touched down about two miles from his house, resulting in a removed roof and other damage, and possibly an injury.  The Washington area in general was very hard hit.  While I don't wish damage or injury to anyone, I am mildly disappointed that I missed it....

On the other hand, I've got a box of Air Force One M&M's.   Not very many to share, however.  Neat airplane.  Wish I could have gotten a picture of moi sitting in the big man's seat.  They won't let you take much more than yourself on the airplane, however (much less a camera), and you even have to put booties on whilst on board.

Already miss the little one.  What a cutie!

Congratulations to Willy in his new job with Arby's. Much of the kind of work that he has described doing is similar to what I am doing in my part time job with Wendy's. Within the last couple months Arby's had announced their intention to purchase the entire Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburger chain. I have yet to find out if this will have any effect on my present employment, probably not, I suspect. I do wonder if any of the menu items at Wendy's will be changed after the Wendy's chain has been purchased by Arby's.

My family gathered at my sister's house for a cookout on Memorial day, and I volunteered to work that day if I could have the following Tuesday off. When I was at my sister's house, one of my other sister's, Renee,  who had come home from Lincoln, Nebraska, remarked to me that I smelled like hamburgers. In that kind of an environment, anytime you are working behind a grill, or working with a "henney penny", which is used in cooking french fries in deep fat, or you are dropping breaded chicken into a deep fat fryer, you are going to end up smelling like the cooking oil that you are using.

I have an application in with one of our HY-VEE supermarkets for full time employment, working in the produce department, and I filed my application online this past Sunday. A couple guys I know quite well, who have also worked for HY-VEE at one time or another, have both assured me that HY-VEE will eventually call me for an interview. Having the job with Wendy's was something of a godsend, as when I took this job, I was unemployed for roughly five or six months. But the current manager doesn't seem to want to give me enough hours, and it is proving very difficult for me to get by on what I am earning. I know that if  I can go to work full time for HY-VEE, there will be some pretty good benefits, including health insurance. I am confidently hoping that the manager and the assistant managers at Wendy's will give prospective employers a good plug for me, as I have demonstrated that I have a work ethic that a lot of others much younger than I don't have, having proven that I am dependable and reliable.

We have a 90% chance of thundrstorms in this area tonight, and in fact, there has been a flash flood advisory issued for Minnehaha County where I live tonight. Late Monday night we had gotten an inch and two thirds of rain in a thunderstorm that swept through this area. Right now we have a temp of 77 degrees and the humidity is sitting at 54%. It's been a little sticky here, and when I got up at 6:45 this morning, the humidity was much highter, at 90% I think.

Oh Willy!  I am so pleased!  You are following in Aunt Mookie and Uncle Driver's footsteps.  Big Smile [:D]

You will always smell like a tall french fry, your feet will remind you that they really are down there and you will never have to worry about nothing to do - that's when they send you home!

Will keep a close eye on the weather.  Could get interesting.

....Walt, the sunshine is bright and the sky is mostly blue now and has been for several hours.  We did have a bit of light rain this morning but nothing of any severity.

Rain gauge did show we had quite a bit of rain over night though.  River is up and muddy too.

Just within the last hour as we returned to home here, the TV was showing bad weather stuff over in D C....and Ohio and Ky.

But the really warm stuff is to be around tomorrow.  Humidity, to my surprise is down this afternoon here....

Looks like we're shaping up with a nasty tornado season.  Another little town south of Indy was hit over night....Moscow, In....Rather bad damage.

Q, besides Hot and Humid, how's your all's weather today? I saw the National weather

map this morning and it was showing all the "Nasty Stuff" to the North of us, looked

like it was in your neighborhood. Drizzle this morning here, Sunny, Hot and Humid now.

Mookie, yellow cake w/chocolate icing is very good!  Of course, I like chocolate icing on just about any cake!  As a matter of fact, just got baking quite a few cakes:  chocolate, yellow with both caramel icing and chocolate icing (both icings not on the same cake, though), white cake w/coconut icing, carrot cake, German chocolate w/the coconut/pecan icing, and several pies, also.

Strawberries around here are ready, and the you pick farms will be doing a brisk business this weekend, I think.   The entertainment section of our paper today, had recipes for several things with fresh strawberries, including strawberry pies.  Anyone ready to have strawberry shortcake?

Decided to make lunch today with the leftovers from yesterday's Mexican Fiesta.  We've got tacos, beef burritos, beef burritos enchilada style, and we also have some pork chop abracadabra left from Monday.

Desserts today:  chocolate cake, carrot cake w/cream cheese icing, and apple, peach and strawberry pies.

And we've got plenty of iced tea, sweet & unsweetened; lemonade and there's plenty of Gatorade on hand, even with what we keep on hand for mudchicken.  Speaking of Sir Mud, where's he been lately?  Guess he's out traveling for work.

Headline in the paper's entertainment/food section - all I saw was CAKE and a picture of a yellow cake with gobs of chocolate frosting!  There's 10 min I will never see again.  Ah......

Tree - keep us posted.

Cloudy, maybe rainy today.  Guess the strawberry season has been delayed a week due to moisture.  We have pick your own and they are still berrying.  Hard to ripen with no sun.

Going to go to hammock - one of those days.

Good Wednesday morning to one and all!  Very muggy here this morning, with a temp about 71 degrees.   Possibility of more showers and storms for later today.  The northern part of our are under a Tornado Watch until about 11:00.

Larry, hope your son is all right this morning.  Definitely no fun, going to the ER.  Have a very safe trip back to New York.  Looking forward to hearing about your tour this morning.  Glad you had some very good quality time with Baby Evie.

Coffee and juices are ready, along with breakfast:  turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, sliced pineapple slices, buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, bagels & bear claws.

After Sarah got home from work yesterday, we went across the street to see our neighbor:  she turned 92 yesterday.  Walt cut one of his red Soldier's Prayer roses for her, and we had a birthday card we all signed and took over to her.  Her neice invited us over for a Birthday supper tomorrow night, when they will celebrate her birthday.  Should be interesting and fun.

Jess, I imagine your wife will be very happy to have a date night out with you tonight!

You all have a great morning, and if any of you have a request for lunch and supper today, please let me know.

Good morning all,

We received the satistics on the long weekend and I'm happy to say that there are no fatalities to report in our area...Yahooooo, The memorial week end is known for its high deadly crash rate but this one surprised EMS workers all over NH.

I can't remember a more boring holiday week end in a long time, hey I still get paid to show up so if my services are not needed then that is just a plus for me.

I hope everyone here had a safe one as well.

I have to rush home so I don't have time for breakfast but I will take a cup of coffee to go, I've been at work for 48 hours in a row and today I'm heading home to ask my wife out on a date tonight.

Happy Rails my Friends!

Looking forward to a damp trip home tomorrow, after a special tour I'll tell y'all about later.  Wet here on the Chesapeake Bay tonight, with some thunderbumpers in the area and more possibly to come.

Got plenty of quality time with granddaughter tonight.  Unfortunately it was because her mom had to take her dad to the ER, probably with a bug of some sort.  I'm on late shift to go pick him up so mom can rest up for work tomorrow.

Starting to rain harder again...  It'll be like this all night.

Joe, CONGRATS on being an "Uncle" again!!

We've already had a couple of "Thunderboomers" today, and are expecting some more.

Unfortunately, we've been put into the moderate risk category again.

(thus far, doesn't seem to have been any "major" damage anywhere in this area;

although a lightning strike to a transformer at a business caused several dozen cookies

to "burn", seems they couldn't get them out of the ovens until power came back on.)

(so if anybody buys "Mother's Cookies" at the store, one shipment might be late!)

Joe, congratulations on becoming a Great Uncle!  I've lost count of how many great neices and great nephews I have ( there's probably a few I don't even know about, since I don't see or hear much from my nephew an neices from New Mexico.  Wish I did, too.

On today's lunch menu:  Tuesday Mexican Fiesta will include the following:

cheesy quesadillas, beef & bean burritos, beef burritos enchilada style, fresh tomato salsa, fajitas, tamales, spanish rice, tostadas, cheesy beef nachos, tacos.

Joe - Coffee and nap in the same sentence.

Need both this morning - too humid overnite to sleep comfortably.  Even with fan and central air.  Fan was cooling the corner and wall instead of me and thermostat downstairs - bedrooms upstairs - cooler downstairs, of course.  Reset that puppy this morning - down 1 degree for overnite.

CW -  Had to work really hard not to be face down in my own wedding cake, which was carrot cake.  Guess it just depends on the day of the week whether it is chocolate or carrot - so far each day shows both.....Dinner [dinner]

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!  Getting a nice rain right now.  Have been having thunder & lightning, since a little after 4 this morning.

Joe, glad your brother is doing so much better!

So, Mookie likes carrot cake!!  Will have to remember that!

Coffee is ready, have Mookie's mug waiting for her on the counter.  Just need to put coffee into it, when she gets in.

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  BLTs, hash browns, scrambled eggs, bagels, bear claws and blueberry muffins.

You all have a good morning, and I'll see you after Produce.

I am posting this new message from my NEW computer running Windows Vista Home Premium Edition. Gawd, the feel of Windows Vista is quite different, to say the least.

By the way, thanks for the roast and taters! Dinner [dinner]

Well  - Been busy spending time with granddaughter - as soon as I can get a shot online I'll share.  Right now she'd giving her dad fits as she doesn't want to settle down and go to sleep.

Forgot to mention a pleasant surprise on the way down.  After leaving the Inner Harbor area I was headed down 695 to 97 and came up on a CSX overpass just as two units rolled over it northbound - with the Tropicana Juice Train trailing happily behind.  A first for me!  Unfortunately, short notice and freeway speeds are not conducive to digging out the camera for a pic.

Time for bed.  Nothing on the schedule tomorrow, so it's hard to say what I'll be up to.

Found some carrot cake - it's short a slice now....
