Where we live now, and have for 20 years; the Ohio was within about 4 blocks
of this house, and we are several miles from the river. They were using boats almost
to Churchill Downs at that time.
The L & N and other railroads that ran in here, put relief trains on viaducts that were
already here, and the highest ground they could find.
Amazing how many of the city's viaducts now bear the build date of 1937.
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!

Some years ago we were on a boat ride from Madison down to Lousiville for an overnight stay and went back the next day....Someone pointed out up on some structure of the high water mark during the '37 flood and it was pretty shockingly high...

Mook, You don't like that "Green Stuff" either?! Actually, it should be "Banned"!
Not sure I like the way you divvy up those Curly Fries 'tho!!!
Q, we will be watcthing any precip we get, but it's going to have to get over
1937 levels to reach this house.
(although we might not be able to go other places here.)

Mookie
One order of curly fries coming right up!
Today was my fifth day of work. It also finished my first week. I worked the fry station Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Today. Yesterday I worked as the order taker/cashier at the front counter. I had a total of 30 hours at $6.75 an hour this week, so not too bad. Now I have tomorrow and Monday off before I go back on Tuesday.
And thank you all for being honest about the waving thread. It is never my intent to create bad feelings in this forum, so that's why I was rather shocked when I got up this morning and checked that thread. Hopefully it will die soon so that I can leave it behind and move on.

....A little weather / flooding update in our area: South of indy in some areas have received 9 plus inches of rain....!! Just was watching via Indy TV helicopter remote, of the area.....People stranded.....I-70 closed....I-65 closed.....massive flooding down in the area south of Indy. The news helicopter flew over a large area and the water was up to the eves of the houses. Just heard of a lady in labor and people trying to get to her to get her out and to the hospital....Power lines down...{even in our area}, many without power....and I'm amazed we continue{d}, to have power. 3 semi's were blowned over and off I -69 just northwest of us.....{last evening}. My rain gauge {from last evening}, is minor compared with all I've mentioned above...1.45".
Walt....You can be glad all this precip is not entering upstream from you.....

Mook, glad you "popped in"; reckon you would help with the decorating?
(Think Curly Fries would go well with other things?)
Joe, glad everything seems to be alright up there. Hopefully you could stick around and help us decorate the Cafe for a Birthday today.
Haven't said anything about this one before, as we sort of wanted to keep
certain things (people) "In The Dark"!!
afternoon
we are all safe and sound.had some leaves and branches to pick up this morning. The ball diamonds had some dugout damage as well but nothing serious. It came in fast last night and left just as quickly.Matt was able to get his ballgame in and did a good job.Got some chores and lunch to make.be back later for the pizza.
stay safe

.....The precip that we recieve here Walt and from northeast of us...and between here and Indy for the most part, I believe flows into the White River and hence, then heads over to the Walbash....and of course then on into the Ohio down stream from you.
And the wide area south of Indy....Columbus, Seymour,Greensburg, etc.....will be flowing into the {east branch of the White River}, and also enter the Walbash south of Vincennes and on down to the Ohio, again down river of you....I suppose just the area in south east Indiana {Madison, etc...}, enters the Ohio upriver to you....Before taking a closer look at it, I was thinking you would see more of our runoff from these storms but seems just a small % of it does....

Q, seems most of the "Weather" (according to the maps) has been between Louisville
and Muncie. (north of the River, but south of everything else.)
Wouldn't most of your alls precip. run off before Lou., instead of the Evansville, Owensboro
and Henderson area?
Willy, I went back and glanced at that thread, don't believe you did anything
wrong at all....don't worry about it....people are just being people;
just remember that not everyone agrees with everyone else.
Hi everyone. Sorry about being so late this morning. Just had to go back to bed for more sleep.
Coffee, tea, juices are ready to go. On the warmer bar this morning: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes & waffles with syrups, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, sliced pineapple, cinnamon rolls, bagels and bear claws.
Willy, it's been a couple of days since I read that thread; but will now go back, and catch up on reading it. I doubt that you did anything wrong.
It's very cloudy out right now. Current temp is 79 degrees. This is Crusade Saturday, with all the firefighters out on roadblocks, collecting for the children. They're usually burning in the sun, or getting soaked due to rain showers/thunder showers.
You all have a good morning, and I'll see you all later, for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.
Willy, I agree with what Quentin just said. And in my opinion, you haven't done anything wrong, so if I were you, I would not be overly concerned about what others are saying in the waving thread.

.....Only in the 70's now....Haven't open any window or door, but I'll bet the humidity is sky high. Lots of weather systems over Indiana last night again....Once again, we lucked out. It went past here but was very tame. We're looking at hot temps again today according of TV report a few min. ago from Indy.
Appears {from radar and TV}, lots of flooding headed down thru southern Indiana from last night.....Watch out there in Louisville....Walt and CW. I believe most of our precip in the river from here exits by Evansville but there was massive rain all thru southern Indiana last night....and more storm damage...Trees down thru house roofs, etc....Don't know all details of it yet.
Am I the first in here this morning......Saturday morning sleepers I suppose.

rolled out the gatorade, put out the seed. All I got was a roadrunner......
I think he is hiding.....
What year was that Plymouth Roadrunner?
Are you absolutely sure that it was the "ACME" Brand?!
(or was that the reason coyote could never catch that bird?!)
Joe, how about we make that two coolers full of Gatorade? Maybe that will really lure in the mudchicken!! Glad your dad and neighbors are all doing all right.
Just finished frying more fish for tonight. On tonight's menu:
1. Icelandic Cod
2. Hallibut
3. Flounder
4. Perch
5. Jumbo Shrimp
Side dishes: corn on the cob, baked beans, fries, hushpuppies, cole slaw, and the following pies: apple, cherry, peach, pecan, and two cobblers: blueberry and strawberry.
Quentin, it's really been very hot here this afternoon. Not sure if we broke the record for today, but I believe it's very close. The record high for this date, if I remember what they said earlier, is 94. Our thermometer is reading 91 right now. And we have at least another hour or two before it even starts to cool down.
Cw thanks for supper. We had an appointment scheduled for our ac tune-up this afternoon but they were tied up at another house. We are re-booked for monday.Been checking in on our neighboors and my Dad.everyone is keeping their cool.hey mook set out a cooler full of gatorade and see what comes by.
CW....Now have all the items taken care of that I mentioned this morning except the mowing but I'll wait until the sun is lower. No use to work in that heat now. I can do the mowing in an hour...Just went to fill my gas can for the tractor....Guess that's really the hard part....Never dreamed it would cost that much to fill a 2 1/2 gal can. But I can mow almost 5 times with it.....{.65 of an acre}, so really that is pretty good on the tractor's part. But....we're going to wait until it backs off the heat a bit....92.1 now and of course very humid.
Eveyone be careful of that heat out there.....
Quentin, went outside this morning, and cleared the stuff growing up the front fence. It was nice, as I was working in the shade, for most of it. But when I got to the end of the fence, the sun was shining very brightly. Will do the inside on that section tomorrow morning, before the sun starts shining too brightly.
I've got our Friday Fish Fry ready and on the warmer bar. All the regular kinds of fish, and side dishes. Also our regular dessert menu of cake, pies and cobblers.
.....Warm, warm, warm......88.5 now with high humidity. Lots of sunshine. Jean and I have been catching up on stuff around the outside here this morning and it's time to back off a bit. So we're headed overtown to do some errands. Air in the Xtreme will feel good.
Yard mowing to do yet today too.....lunch somewhere in the middle.

Still thunderbumpers in the forecast. Radar isn't showing anything right now, but they do nicely popping up all by themselves.
Same forecast for tomorrow - might be a wet day on the railroad.
