Nice to see some folks in here for a change.  I'll fire up the grill and get some burgers, dogs, and brats going for lunch.  Chips are inside!

Happy B-Day [bday] Larry!!  Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday] Happy B-Day [bday]

Hope your day today is going better than yesterday.

Thanks for letting me know your preferred birthday menu Larry!!  Here is the BIRTHDAY DINNER FOR TODAY:

Pot roast, mashed taters, lima beans, cole slaw.  Annnnndd, for DESSERT:

GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE (actually,  two  whole sheet cakes have been made).

Thank goodness I had plenty of help with the decorating!  I am definitely not up to being on a ladder yet!!  It takes me a half hour to walk two blocks!!  But, the good news for you all is:  as of today, I will resume full cooking/baking duties here in the Diner.  Hope that pleases you all!!  (Of course, it'll take me all morning, after I get breakfast going, to work on the lunch menu, and then all afternoon, for the supper menu.  But I'll enjoy getting back into the swing of things.)

And Larry, once again:  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

This poor soul's example is a sobering reminder of the importance of practicing safety in all arenas of life as we know it, particularly when it comes to driving. Safety begins with each of us.

Well, life's just been nuts.  Fortunately, things are winding down a bit at work, and the regular RR season is about over, leaving only "Polar Express."

And I haven't even gotten any of the work done around the house I promised myself I'd do.

Soup and cornbread - comfort food.  I'm in.

Hello everyone.  Sorry I haven't been in today; been feeling a little bit under the weather today.  Nothing serious, probably have caught a  virus.  Just a general sick feeling in the tum-tum.

I made two things for supper tonight:

1.  pork chop abracadbra and
2.  vegetable beef soup w/cornbread

Think I'll  fix myself a bowl of soup, and then take it easy the rest of the evening.  You all take care.

Good Morning - did a little train watching this weekend.  Nothing too spectacular.  Went out in the rural areas to check out a few tracks and as most of you know - The Driver doesn't like it when I want to drive (even for practice).

We saw a rural mailman driving from the middle of the front seat so he could reach the boxes on the right.  The Driver made the mistake of saying they should order their cars with right-side drive....................You can see this coming can't you................I will be ordering a right-side drive vehicle very soon.   Evil [}:)]

Notice to be posted on bulletin board in diner:  "The City of Lincoln will have their population reduced by about 84,000 due to losing the one tourist attraction the city can lay claim to - Husker Football.  The stadium will be replanted into a still viable product - corn."

Coffee, please!

Good Sunday afternoon.  Couldn't say morning, because the powers that be,wouldn't let me log in.

Joe, hope you and Momma are feeling better this afternoon!!

Since we couldn't  have our PIZZA FEST last night, I've taken the  liberty of fixing pizzas for this afternoon/evening.  All the regular pizzas are on  the warmer bar (one extra large of each kind), and two more extra large are waiting in the fridge.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!!

It's been raining here in Sioux Falls and we have a temperature of 51 degrees. The Yawn Patrol is out, and I kind of wish I could go back to bed and sleep for a while longer, but I have to work this morning, at least I'll be earning a pay check.

The coffee is about finished brewing and I've mixed a fresh batch of orange juice. I brought in a generous assortment of rolls and donuts from the Sunshine Bakery. If anyone else wants something more elaborate for breakfast this morning, I will let them volunteer to do the cooking.

Have a great day folks!

Ray

Good Afternoon!

Tried to do some train watching this afternoon at the Amtrak station. However, unfortunately, some not so pleasant/rather suspicious people have been hanging out around the Amtrak station lately and I ended up leaving fairly quickly after arriving. Today's crowd included a drunk guy and a group of criminal looking teenage boys probably a year or two older than me. I just didn't feel it was safe to stay around. Fortunately, I have a few backup train watching spots that I can go to in the future.

No news other than that, today. Hope everyone enjoys the remainder of the weekend.

Thanks Modelcar. I've been a ham for 43 years now, and it's an integral part of my life. Love that peanut butter too and have a couple of fresh jars to open yet. That stuff doesn't last long around here. It may be Chinese tonight instead of the BBQ. Want me to get you a take out?
