Improving day by day.  It's been 10 days since the operation now, and she's starting to get brave without the walker- she even ventured down into the basement last night without it (and then made me go up and bring it down).  Still taking the Loritabs, though.  Can't wait to get her off of those...

...Almost anyone knows more about B. Spears than I do, but with all the latest media attention, etc....it sure looks like the girl has dropped over the medical edge and really needs some kind of serious help.

Hello everyone!

It's been a long while since I've visited the forums as I've had a lot of personal things keeping me away.  I'm glad to finally be able to be back and hope to contribute again as I did before.  All I know it's really great to see a lot of the same familiar names (and faces too!) and I'm looking forward to chatting with you guys and gals!

 Sincerely,

Mike Vanlandingham

Mike and Dennis, welcome back!  Now, we need to get a few of our other patrons back in here:  Nance69, Kozzie, Canadian Kevin, Chad, Mark, Tina, and, of course, our illustrious owner, Jim (JHH).  I am sure I'm forgetting a few others, but:  COME BACK!!

Joe, got some beef stew and cornbread all ready for you and Lance (if he comes in, that is; need to add his name to above list).  Looks like the chili was cleaned up at lunch today; so guess it was a pretty good idea for me to make more beef stew and cornbread today!  That's all right:  this cook likes to see lots and lots of patrons in here!!

Sure do hope that this winter mess that's going to hit most of us tonight, early tomorrow morning, will lose it's bite, before hitting any of us.  At some point, we're supposed to be getting a wintry mix of snow, freezing rain.

Brian, glad to hear that Joanie is doing so well.  I don't remember if it was Loritab I was on after I came home; but, I sure felt pretty good while I was on it.  (Which was only about three weeks, and he switched me to something else.  And I think I threw out the bottles, so can't even look up and see what it was that I was taking.  Just know that I had no problem whatsoever, going to sleep (as a matter of fact, my problem was trying to stay awake!)

Take care, everyone and stay warm and as dry as possible tonight.

Good evening everyone. Thanks for the beef stew and cornbread! Dinner [dinner]

We're going to have on and off rain for the next four days. We could use the rain but please, I'd like to see some sunshine for a change!

Like Quentin said, the girl is in dire need and also in great danger. It is not easy living one's life under a microscope, and stronger people than her have cracked. Instead of making fun of her predicament, we should be showing concern and praying for her safety. Nuff sed.

Good Friday morning, to all!  Mike, Joe works Sunday thru Thursday.  That's why he refers to Thursday as his Friday, because that's the last day he works:  Friday and Saturday are his weekends away from work.

Coffee, tea, cider, hot chocolate and juice are ready, and waitin' to be poured!  On the warmer bar this morning:  along with the regular Friday doughnuts, bagels, bear claws and danish, we have muffins,  turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs and hash browns.

Mookie, I've got your mug and eating utensils down off the shelf, and ready to fill for you, when you give me your breakfast order!!

Have a great morning, everyone, and take care and stay safe and warm!!

Q - just for today, I am going to reassign the Midwest back to you and Joe and the rest in that area.  We didn't have a speck of snow, the temps are cold, but the wind is down, so since the radio sez the Midwest is making a scraping sound - I will relinquish it to you for today only.

Tomorrow we are back to the True Midwest!

Gentlemen, I agree that Brittany Spears needs help, and I for one honestly hope she gets it and that the help she would get would put her on the "right track" where she belongs. There was a time when I thought I was depressed, and all I needed was a competant therapist to help me sort things out. I was taking life much too seriously and I was not being good to myself. Furthermore, I had a crush on a young lady who was married to someone else, and I finally realized that if I really loved her, I would allow her the freedom to be just a good friend and nothing more than that. Until I had made this decision, I was absolutely miserable with life and was constantly having crying spells. Because I saught counseling and because I changed my attitude toward "Linda", she remains one of my dearest and closest friends.

I've got the coffee brewing, the grille is hot and  I am ready to start pouring pancake batter. And I have mixed a fresh batch of orange juice. I am going to throw some french toast on the grille too. The maple syrup is hot and ready for pouring, and there is lots of butter here. Chef [C=:-)]

I am not picking on Brit, per se.  She hasn't been rational for some time and yet it takes an act of Congress to get her some help.  Most of the stars have problems and don't make this kind of commotion.

But I am saying that our wonderful media just picks at something until it dies! And the celebs keep performing for them.

And why did it take a dozen police officers to get her to the hospital.  Here in the true midwest, we can do it with 2 paramedics and maybe 1 or 2 officers.

I was listening to KELO AM this morning and it was reported that the reason why so many police officers were required to escourt miss Spears to the hospital was the presence of the local paparazzi, who descended on the scene like vultures.

LOL I assume you meant Matt's school is closed Joe.  Hard to imagine lock and key on the Fry Master!

Supposed to get more snow this weekend and next week.  Sounds good to me!  Off to work...yechy.

Mookie,

A typical welcome back from you, and much appreciated. You are, I trust, well and healthy ?

Regarding our weather, of course, one would never believe, judging from the news bulletins, that we'd ever had snow before. Actually, so far, our winter in the South of England has been relatively mild, and even in the more northerly parts has not been more severe than normal. The only event of any note occasioned by our weather has been the beaching of a car ferry on route from Ireland, fortunately with no harm to either passengers or crew.

I hope now to be back as a regular on the forums, now more pressing matters have been resolved.

CW - one large mug of hot coffee please (white with sugar), and a large plate of cookies.

Regards, All,

Dennis (Germanium)

Ms Spears has morphed into the realm of people who are famous because they are famous.  Any artistic accomplishments she may have achieved are ancient history.

What it looks like at home right now.  (Probably subject to regular updates)  Schools are all closed...

Just tan here.  Everywhere you look.  I think it's the only color of paint they sell here in Phoenix.

....I don't really know where most of the forecast storm and heavy snow fall did go, but it sure hasn't arrived here...{yet}...??

We were under the threat of up to 10" of the stuff and as we looked out this morning, I estimate we have seen about a half inch overnight....!!!

It's above freezing too....34 plus degrees.

Sky is light...sunshine at times.

Edit:  Tree, your photo shows about what I'd think Winter looks like up in your home area.

Radar shows not too much back of us to arrive yet, so I really don't know what we'll get as the day moves on....I'm not complaining...for sure.

Might be a pretty good start for February.

Dennis - no problems here.  Can't complain, cuz no one would listen.  Laugh [(-D]  But really very fortunate to have no particular problems.  So glad you are back!  I have about worn out the regulars and it is always nice to have a new list to work on.....Evil [}:)]

Tree - I always picture you as living in an area that is more like plains of Nebraska or Wyoming - just flat or slightly hilly and tons of white snow.  I am so glad to see you have civilization!  And nice looking civilization (I really do need to get out more!)  Very nice looking town/city/spot in the road?

Tan is good - I would love one - but can't find one that will stick.  I just get the burn and peel one.

Quentin - you must live in a sister city to Lincoln - when all around us are losing their heads - in the bad weather - it usually misses us completely or just nicks us at best.  But they always get the wind right!  And the temp is usually right on target.

Ms Mook - I actually live in a "hamlet" - a small gathering of houses (something over 100 of them in our case).  It's in a small valley, so it's uphill in almost all directions on the way out of town.  Lots of low hills in the area - flat doesn't apply here.

The image I posted is Public Square in Watertown, a city of ~25,000, county seat, and where most of us do our shopping.   Snowy Syracuse is 70 miles south, and the major snow belt is just 20 miles to the south. Like here.  The school is closed today (2/1).

Time to hit the road and visit me mum.

Sir Larry-

Your picture has disappeared.  Lots of houses around here are tan or white.  2" of snow last night.  Just enough to make driving annoying for those who haven't yet figured out how to do that safely.

Hello everybody!  Went to the store this morning, to get some food for the next couple, three days.  (Was out of fruit punch and coffee, so HAD to go get that, espicially!!)  Been home about an hour, and now have lunch on the warmer bar.  It's Friday Fish Fry time, and on today's menu:  cod, hallibut, haddock, flounder, perch, shrimp and whitefish.  Also on  the warmer bar:  fries (especially for little Matt), corn on the cob, baked beans, hushpuppies and in the cooler:  cole slaw and salad.

Desserts:  regular list of cakes, cobblers and pies.

Nice and breezy out, with a few flurries around.  Nothing too spectacular, weather wise.
