Cannonball, good to see you in!!  Hope you and Shirl have a great weekend.  Larry, I don't envy you having a delay in airports.  Been there, twice, at least.  First time was back in 1979, going to visit my brother in New Mexico:  had delays in Dallas/Ft. Worth, and again in Amarillo, both going to New Mexico, and returning home to Louisville.  Second time was in 1987, got delayed for a couple of hours, at least, in Pittsburg airport, waiting to join Mutt in Newport News, VA.  Definitely no fun, sitting around in an airport.  Unless there's plenty of people towatch.  Then, it does it slightly boring after awhile.

Running late getting the FRIDAY FISH FRY  under way.  But, better late than never, right?  Everything is on the warmer bar:  fish, fries, hushpuppies, corn on the cob.  Salads and cole slaw, and desserts are in the cooler behind the counter.

Those of you who'll be gone for the weekend, have a happy, and safe weekend.  Please  come back safely on Monday morning!

Walt; that trailer looks like an old Strick slide top now .  Back then the roof was supposed to slide back .YTFL hada few of them in the 50's& 60's.  Hope every one is doin' good healthwise. Time for a sip of hard cider, now it is cooler.  There is no sassafras root to dig here to dry for spring tonic . Glad to see you made it through another yr. Cannonball

Missed 'Muts B'Day!  Happy Belated!

Sitting here in the airport waiting for our plane to arrive (it's late).  We'll be late leaving here, but I have a LONG layover at JFK, so no pain for the moment.

Caught a crew change on NS last night in Lynchburg.  Nothing spectacular, but a switch job did manage to put themselves between me and the train changing crews - and wouldn't you know they had a bunch of wood chip cars - completely blocked my view of the three GE's on the point...

Good morning everyone.

(Grabs big mug of coffee and hot rolls)

OUCH on that low-clearance bridge accident! Shock [:O] Here in California, any bridge with clearance under fifteen feet six inches must post warning signs approaching the bridge and on the bridge itself.

Good Friday morning to all!!  Yeah, it's Friday, and I know everyone is glad to see it get here!  Joe, thanks for getting breakfast ready!  Guess I was really tired, afer being out yesterday afternoon, cause I didn't even wake up until 7:45.  I want to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for helping to make Mutt's birthday such a great one for him!

Looks like we're going to have a little bit warmer day, and I hope most of you have as  good a day, where you are, with plenty of sunshine!  Take care, everyone, and I'll see you all back in here for our Friday Fish Fry in a few hours.

I'm not sure I would really like to put a wager on that one. That Street/road is a

state highway and they are not noted for doing things like that in a city area.

(they think the city should do it, and  the city thinks the state should do it)

(with the recent election, and change in political parties............anybody's guess?!?!)

[and that overpass is not the one that gets hit at least monthly, this particular one

actually rarely gets it.]

....That really is a low clearance underpass....The exhaust pipes of the wrecker barely cleared under that overpass.  Looks like the trailer was empty so not too much force went into the bridge from that light material trailer....Train on the bridge was a bit of insurance to hold it "in place" from the impact too....

I'll bet the "low clearance sign" gets new paint.

Dan, guess you did notice the persons on the overpass, apparently they were there to

inspect the bridge. While we were there, another train passed in the opposite direction

at allowable track speed.

Here are a few more of the trailer "incident" that I took, along with a couple of shots

taken out at CSX's Osborn Yard.

Hey did I hear someone mention Chocolate cake?? I WANT SOME!! heheheDinner [dinner]

Well it most certailly has been quite a while since I last been here in the dinner, it seems to me as if another one was started.........I guess the other one got too big.=> That's what happens when good food is served Big Smile [:D]

Happy B-Day [bday] to Locomutt, may many more come to you!

I along w/ Cherokee Woman, and Mutt had an interesting afternoon today. For Mutt's B-day CW and I decided to get together and take LM Railfaning. Well, little did we expect to run into this!!

It seems to me NS needs to repaint the Low Clearance words on the bridge. There are also no low clearance warning signs posted around the bridge.

This incident happened on 22nd Street underpass on the NS ex K&IT trackage, in Louisville, KY.

Mutt's got some more shots

B-day is/has been going just fine, hopefully I'll have a few pics. to prove that the

viaduct there in Defiance isn't the only one that eats trucks! The "Girls" took me out

railfanning and about the first thing we saw was a semi-trailer with an airconditioned

trailer roof, with NS train stopped on the overpass and another one going the other direction.

Mookie, when you had the Space Shuttle fly over the house yesterday and you said

they were dropping presents and cake, I didn't realize that there were going to be

"Paw Prints" on said items!Mischief [:-,]

Everyone, thanks for making it another memorable day; to me that really means a lot,

and the fact that I Have Made It Another Day!

School is going fine. I've got straight A(s) and plan on keeping those A(s) right through the end of the semester. It's hard to believe that there are only 24 school days left before Christmas vacation.

No snow here yet. It looks like some cold air and maybe some snow could get here about two weeks from now. No guarantees, though.

Getting back in here, and posting the lunch menu right on time.  For lunch and supper today, Mutt has requested the following:

1.  Corn beef w/cabbage and,

2.  Roast beef, taters carrots and onion, along with cabbage and cole slaw (for anyone who doesn't like or can't tolerate boiled cabbage), green beans, and broccoli and brussels sprouts.

I have gotten TWO birthday cakes for him.  One is chocolate cake, to share with everyone in the diner, and his favorite cake, Angel food cake w/cherry icing.  And believe me, he'll share the Angel Food cake, too!!

Ray, hope you feel better soon!

I wish I were a lot closer to Louisville to help you celebrate your birthday Walt, but anyway, Happy Birthday!! Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday]

We have cloudy and overcast skys here in Sioux Falls and a temperature of 25 degrees. It is supposed to warm up here to about 45 later this afternoon. Has anyone out there got it colder than Sioux Falls?

I have the day off today and I am going to try to see my eye doctor this afternoon. I think I've picked up some kind of eye infection, and it may be cold related as I also am having to deal with a runny nose. It kind of made for some rough sleeping last night. Not fun! It's been a long time since I had a comprehensive eye exam and I am probably due for new glasses.

We're at a chilly 35 this morning.  Not quite as cool as it's been in the mornings, and should reach 59, 60 degrees today.

I'll be posting the lunch and supper menus around 10:30, 11:30.  Hope you all have a great morning, and be careful out there!!

Well, I ordered a 2 lb Claxton fruitcake yesterday and it will be delivered this morning. Talk about service. I got to thinking about that cake yesterday after someone mentioned it and just had to have one. Got me in dutch with the old lady, but that will just make it taste better. Scrambled eggs, probably in a sandwich, and root beer for breakfast this morning and then sit by the door waiting on the cake.......

I'll bag some of it for ya!

Got breakfast ready!  Oatmeal (pick your flavor), hot apple cider, hot chocolate (yes, we have marshmellows), hot coffee, and toast with your favorite flavor of jam.  I think we may have some eggs, bacon, and sausage I can get on the warmer.  Back later!
