Good Saturday morning, all! Feeling a little bit better this morning. Joe, thanks for making the coffee and orange juice, and for fixing breakfast. Sounds really good this morning!
As for a card for a cat, if you can't find one with a loco on the front, maybe a cute little kittie will do! (We need to find a card also.)
Joe, our weather is to turn tomorrow. Predicting mostly rain, possibly some thunder showers, and could turn to snow. They're not too sure right now, about the latter, just yet. Currently, we're at 31, 32 degrees, looking for a high of 50, with clouds around all day. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what we end up with.
You all have a good day today, no matter what you do, or where you go, and, as Joe says, STAY SAFE!

Hello Everyone -
I was wondering if you folks could say some prayers for my family over the next few days. My grandpa passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly in the middle of the night last night. There were not any indications that he was ill, but I guess God was ready for him to enter His kingdom.
Your prayers for my family and for Grandpa would be much appreciated. This is a very difficult time for us.
Thank you and God bless.
Willy

Willy, Very Heartfelt condolences to you and family. Always remember things that he
told you, they can be one of life's biggest lessons.
I knew both sets of my grandparents, wish they were still around to impart some
wisdom now and then; it's amazing how much smarter your grandparents and parents
get as you get older.

Thanks Joe. I will surely be looking forward to it. Saw on the radar down here in Ky a great big area of white up there in Northern OH. They calling for temps to rise overnight, rain tomorrow, possibly ending with snow showers on Monday.
Willy, you are in our prayers. Know how hard it is to lose those very special people. My grandpa just turned 79 the other day. He's an amazing person.
Brian (KY)
Thank you all for the prayers. They mean a lot to us!
I was especially worried about how my grandma would take this, but she is pulling through so far. I pray that she will have the strength to make it through these next several days without too much pain.
We got the ice today. I measured a third of an inch of ice accumulation, but there weren't many tree branches or powerlines down which was nice. There's another chance of precip around Thursday, so hopefully that one will be in the form of snow rather than freezing rain.
Everyone take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
juice coffee hot chocolate and rolls are ready to go.last nights winter mix is melting as we are getting rain.(even a possible thunderstorm later???).news was full of fender benders tonight.with #1 and #2 losing who plays in the national championship?? going to be an interesting day.
Good Sunday morning, to one and all! We are at a balmy 58 degrees this morning, with very light rain outside. Temps already gone up 1 degree, in the half hour I have been awake and up. Looking for a high of 67. Then a biiiiig drop in temperatures overnight. The meterologists are now saying, that Tuesday, we may see some snow, with light accumulation. Can anyone say, "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas?"
Joe, thanks for making the juice, coffee and hot chocolate! Can't decide which I want this morning: maybe a I'll a cup of coffee, along with a cup of hot chocolate, along with a couple of rolls for breakfast.
Saw the reports on the news last evening, of the snow in Denver, and the snow and ice in the Midwest. Hope all our forum friends in those areas are safe and sound this morning! Everyone have a great day, stay warm, and take care of yourselves. Be back later.
Good morning everyone. (grabs big mug of hot coffee and a couple of rolls)
By the way, you might want to consider serving a hot toddy to anyone involved in the college football Bowl Championship Series voting. After last night, WHO knows the participants in the championship game.
Willy - My thoughts are with you as well. It's never easy losing a loved one, and this time of year is even tougher.
Warm is the word of the day here - as in keeping.... Colder than the dickens, snowing, and windy. Hope the kids have on their really warm jammies tonight - they'll need them. A couple of the crew members just stopped by (I'm in the hotel lobby) to advise me that it's just getting worse....
Set a record for riders last night on the Express, due in part to three full-car charters and a minor reservation snafu. We got through, and everyone was happy.
Don't know how long it will be available, but there is a video entitled "Polar Express departs Utica on this newspaper webpage. Yep. That's me with the kero lantern.
The stack train is westbound on CSX's Chicago Line.

That must be a fun job for ya Larry.
CW we got 8" of wet slushy snow and now are getting some ice. I pulled a van out of the ditch this morning after dropping the fiancee off at work. The driver had high-centered her minivan on the snowpile in her driveway. I didn't think her 2 toddlers could get her out. I guess that's my 'Good Deed' for the day. Time to stay home and edit pics.
Well, we're not getting any rain at the moment; a little bit ago, it was a light drizzle. Dan, good to know that you got fiancee to work safely, and was able to pull the lady's van out.
Now, time to post the SUNDAY DINNER menu:
Meat loaf w/mashed taters, gravy, and shelly beans, corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes, biscuits/and or crescent rolls, whichever you want, macaroni & cheese.
And for dessert: German chocolate cake and mince meat bars.
....Tree: Is that a station in the video.....? Very nice looking building. Looks like marble. Looks like a RR station should look. Too bad more of them don't.

.....We really lucked out on the big storm moving across the country. Missed almost all of it here. Reports of a little sleet before dark last evening but I didn't see any. So must have been rather light. Then it started to warm up and by the time I went to bed, it was in the 40's.
Today, just a bit of light rain at times....very light. So we missed all of the snow activity of this system. Very lucky. Now, it is in the low 50's.

I'll take that for dinner! But still, the hot toddy for any involved in the BCS voting still stands.

Be very careful about promoting the "Hot Toddy", as original owner had requested
that all alcoholic beverages remain at home.
[due to the fact that underage patrons frequent this establishment.]
As far as picking the BCS, I'd rather stay in my recliner, looking out the window
watching trains........maybe I'll take a sip or two of my beer.
...Meatloaf, sliced tomatoes, rolls...sound good.
Storm update: At 5 pm we had about 10 min. of extremely hard rain....Good it was still warm and didn't receive that in snow. Check the radar {weather in motion}, on XP to see what just passed over us.
locomutt,
Okay, forget about the hot toddy. How about a big mug of decaf coffee instead?
They're still going to need something to calm them down given what a mess the BCS system has become....
The meatloaf was fantastic as usual, along with the other things.
Q, we had a bit more than 10 min. of hard rain here. I looked at our rain
guage, and we got about a 1/2" in about 25 min. You are very correct about
it not being s@$w. It was still very warm then, (about 58 deg.) now down to
45 degrees at this posting.
Sacto Guy, the decaf sounds good, better than original suggested.
I've sort of just given up coffee period.......as it keeps me awake no
matter if it's got has caffeine in it or not;
although watching the BSC BS will put me to sleep in a hurry.
I'd much rather sit and watch trains, or train videos with a beer close
at hand. (at home, of course...if I can't watch trains, I hope I have a book
or magazine about them.)

Utica Union Station. Still used by Amtrak, also houses government offices, a restaurant, several small shops, offices and gift shop for ASRR, and Greyhound. Kudos to the county for doing a superior job on restoring it to its former glory.
Good Monday morning, all! Nice and windy, and cold here this morning. Wind chill makes it feel like 21 outside. Brrrrrrrrr!!
Larry, thanks for the link! Very good video clip!
Coffee is ready, hot chocolate and hot tea are coming up. All the regular hot food items are out on the warmer bar, including the bagels and bear claws.
Hope you all have a great morning, and that you are all safe and sound!!
First things first - Willy, our condolences on your grandfather to both you and your parents.
2nd - I will now sing a rendition of a favorite Christmas song: "O Christmas TREE, O Christmas TREE! How messy is thy weather?" I couldn't resist! We got mostly cold temps, very little ice overall and just a miserable weekend. BLAH!
Joe - welcome to Nebraska. Our new head football coach is from Ohio State! Now we are getting somewhere!
I think the southeast got some rain finally. Need to hear from some people in that direction to make sure.
And the northwest -
OK - big week here - lots of mail in my slot, so will have to get busy early if I want to leave before dark.
NO CARDS......use the diner! It is the best way and then I can share with all. (For those wondering - I celebrate Pearl Harbor Day each year. It is my patriotic duty to light some candles to remember the day!) (There - try to wiggle out of that one CW/Mutt and Joe.)
