If you look up "miserable" in the dictionary, you'll find our weather here last night and today as the definition.  Yuk!  The drive home last night in freezing rain, snow, and who knows what else - it was a slow go, and late, tired, etc.  As I walked in from the parking lot, it was a near downpour.

Not that working the train this weekend was any better.  Windy, sleet, freezing rain, slick platform, you name it.  But the kids (and the adults) all have a ball, and that's why we do it.  Our crew had to do some switching, which I luckily didn't have to help with.  I helped put away a locomotive we borrowed on Friday - in the wind, snow, and cold, and found that it's really hard to say "twenty-four fifty-six" when your jaw as about frozen solid.  I commented about it the next day, and one of the other crew members came in from the switching and said - "you know, you were right!"

I'll be back down there next weekend....  Cool [8D]

CSX made a pickup at Utica while we were doing some early prep work on Sunday.  The conductor was suitable dressed for the mess outside, but the engineer was cozy in the cab, wearing a polo shirt....

....Our temp dropped rapidly from yesterday afternoon to overnight and into the mid 20's this morning.  But we're high and dry here this morning.  26.1 here right now.

No snow produced here with any of the fast moving storm over the weekend.  Threat of some snow flurries later this week.

Sorry Mookie:  like Matt, there's something already in the mail, headed your way.  But, you know, we will be here in the Diner Friday!  Thursday, I'll be baking a fresh supply of chocolate cakes, along with some other baking and cooking.  Speaking of cooking, here's today's menu:

1.  leftover meat loaf, mashed taters w/gravy, shelly beans, etc., from Sunday Dinner

2.  hamburgers w/sauteed onion, relish, cheese and whatever you'd like on your burger

Currently, we have 36 degrees outside, with a very nice breeze.  But, the sun is shining (even though it's not warming anything or anyone up outside).

Hope everyone has a good afternoon, and I'll see ya in a little bit.

Just so long as you didn't eat a box of "Frosted Flakes"!! (Tony the Tiger ain't got nothing on you!!)

Are you sure(?) that you want to recind the order for nothing?

Candles and extra fire extingushers are already in the mail, am having to work very hard

to get the extra firefighters on their way. (seems dispatch had to call an "all hands" to

get them there.)

(they are coming by train, so be watching your favorite place.)

Gee Joe, Mamma and I must have been on the same wave length:  chili is what I've fixed for supper tonight, here in the Diner.  Mild, Medium and Hot.  And they're all marked on the warmer bar, so no one gets hot when they want mild, or whatever.  Plenty of crackers to go with the chili, and there's grilled cheese sandwiches and pb&j sandwiches to go with your chili.

Got containers made for you, Joe, for work tonight.  And Lance, too, if he's still around here.   Haven't heard from him for awhile.  Hope he's o.k.

Good Tuesday morning all!  Nice and cold here in Louisville this morning, temp is right around 31, 32 in our downtown area, in the upper 20s in the outlying areas.  Think I should bundle up real good this morning, for TUESDAY PRODUCE.

Coffee has just finished brewing, fresh oj, oj/tangerine, and pineapple juice are ready, as well as the hot chocolate and hot water for hot tea.

On the warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage patties, hash browns, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, oatmeal, grits, and cream of wheat.

You all have a good morning, and I'll see you whenever I get through with  TUESDAY PRODUCE.

to quote a famous oracle - "yawn".....think a little cup of coffee will help that out.  Need to roll out my cup - the one that looks like a barrel and has a lid on it.

Anyone seen Sir Muddy?  Wonder where he is hiding?

Nice day today - in the 50's and I have to do a little Xmas shopping.  Not a lot, just a little.  Would rather go watch trains, but can't do both and be home before dark.  (I think there is a movie title in there somewhere)

Guess I will wait in the hammock until Joe gets here to fill my cup for me.

Morning glory and how yall is? 36 degrees this morning in Carolina. I hope yall are bright eyed and bushy tailed and rearing to hit the trail. I am disabled so I can't join you at work, but wish I could help out. Lemme go to the kitchen and see what bosslady has to offer for breakfast. If nothing appealing, I'll drop in at the diner.

Grampaw - if you don't mind a little frost bite - I have the perfect spot!  Right next to the right-of-way.  In the summer, with the car windows down, the trains are close enough to effect the wind when it is blowing.  Ah....very nice!

Mutt - beagle to go please!  (with cream cheese!)

Whew!  Am I tired:  had 71 people show up for Produce this morning.  Had 20 waiting for me, when I went up there at 8:00!  Nice crowd, and nice produce today:  cabbage, cauliflower, naval oranges, greens, celery, and russett potatoes.

Anyone about ready for TUESDAY MEXICAN FIESTA?  Everything's just about ready to go on the warmer bar:  beef & bean  burritos, beef burritos, tacos, enchiladas, tamales, Spanish rice, etc.

Mookie and Tom, glad you're enjoying the rockers we brought in!  And I even have a space heater by the window, so you can stay warm, while you're watching the trains go by!!

The lady who is in charge of the Center got there at 9:00, so only had to stand/sit out in the cold for an hour, and the Produce Truck showed up at 9:40, so that wasn't too bad.   Most of the people piled out of their vehicles, when the door was unlocked.  Imagine they decided to save on gasoline, and come inside the warm building.

Everything is now on the warmer bar, so head on over, and fill your plates.  (If you're half frozen, I'll fix your plates, and bring them to your booth, table, or the counter, wherever you are sitting.

Tonight's TUESDAY MEXICAN FIESTA is now on the warmer bar.  All that was on the lunch menu, along with quasadillas.  And Joe, got containers ready, and in the fridge, for you to take to work tonight. I've also added the tortilla chips, and all the dips to go with them.  You can have some before, or after your meal, whichever you please.

Not too sure I want anything to eat tonight:  feeling a tad bit sick in the ole tum-tum.  Have no idea what has caused that tonight.

Joe, the triplex sounds good.  Any one-family houses by those tracks?

The meterologists say we could have a chance of rain, and possibly some flurries, or very light snow tomorrow afternoon/evening.  Not looking for any accumulation, though.

I know how you feel, Mookie!  Good Wednesday morning, to you and everyone else!  Here's your coffee mug, with coffee in it for you, along with a beagle w/cream cheese.

Yes, folks, coffee is ready, and fresh juice made, along with hot chocolate and hot water for hot tea.   Regular breakfast items menu on the warmer bar.  Need to run some more errrands later, so I've got a big pot of chili on the stove for lunch and supper today.  Decided anyone who wants it spicy hot, can add the hot sauce, etc., to your own bowl, since I just made a pot of mild chili.

Got SOS from Joe - he is working to get here!  Guess he is a little "flaky" this morning.

Gotta get my tags in '08 - oh joy and rapture.  Since the Driver won't let me drive when he is in the car - I will take the eye test and then for the driving part, I will defer to him?

....Wednesday morning finds us here in Muncie with our first snowfall.  Thought that was supposed to stay out on the plains.  Anyway, we got some of it.  Looks to be about 3".  Had to go out in the back yard to retrieve a snow shovel from our little barn.  I like to keep that Winter stuff out of sight....{out of mind}.

27 degrees here this morning and a little cold wind with it at times, but radar shows us it's on the way on east.  Getting lighter and wouldn't be surprised if we see a bit of sun later this afternoon.

In about 10 days, the sunsets will no longer be occuring earlier and tick up about 1 min. later and send us on our way to...Winter and Spring.

Sunups though will still be occuring later until about the first week in January, and then we'll really be on the way to Spring.  Of course the average of the two, present the "shortest daylight day" to be about the 21th of Dec.......and the beginning of Winter.

Dan's trying a new skill: lurking!

I've been pretty busy and don't have the time I did the last few months.  I'm still around, but not as frequent as I was.
