Mookie, you've got the right idea: I didn't have my knitted cap this morning; but, I wore my new coat Mutt got me for Christmas last year!! Kept me toasty warm (wish I'd had another one, just like it, to wrap my feet in: they were soooooo cccold when I got back home!), and it has a very nice hood on it.
Produce truck came early this morning (before the lady who is in charge showed up), and we just set everything outside, and waited for her and her helper to get there. Didn't have much: potatoes, greens, little bitty oranges, and bananas.
On the warmer bar, you'll find: leftover ribs (what Mookie didn't carry off), and our TUESDAY MEXICAN FIESTA: tacos, beef & bean burritos, beef burritos, enchiladas, quasadillas, tamales, Spanish rice, refried beans, and the following dips w/tortilla chips: quacamoli, salsa, picante, and con quaso.
Everyone enjoy your lunch, and have a good afternoon. (And if anyone wants containers to take home, help yourselves. The containers are under the counter.)

It just "warmed" up around here to 21 F with a chilly 25 mph wind. A bit 'brisk' as some would say.
Dan
.....J....40's and 50's forecast for the next several days.
This afternoon we've had added to the nice mix of a day, a bit of wind, maybe up to 20 mph gusts. Also added some puffy white clouds. Temp now 42.6.....Still not bad if one stays out of the wind. Which I intend to the rest of the afternoon and then later catch our Pacer's against some western team...Is it Denver...? I must look. I know it won't be easy.
Temp at 39, but it looks like some "stuff" bearing down on us. Not much, though, so we'll just get teased (and a half dozen motorists who forgot how to drive in snow will find the ditch).
Gray and gloomy most of the day, though...

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Boy, was I wrong. Snowed like the dickens, at least for a little while. I was right about the cars, though, including one that came within inches of hitting my house. Dufus in an SUV came flying up the road, probably got a little light cresting a rise, went a tad sideways, and ended up in my front yard. Didn't hit the house, though, so I let them figure out how to get back in the road.
Besides, I figure they were due for a change of underwear....
Larry, not looking forward for when we get our first snow showers around here. People are crazy driving anyway; they're a lot worse when it's raining, snowing, or sleeting.
Got the warmer bar reset for tonight's portion of our TUESDAY MEXICAN FIESTA. Fixed more of what was available for lunch, including the dips for the tortilla chips. And for dessert tonight, we have: chocolate cake, and the following cheesecakes: cherry, chocolate and strawberry, along with plain cheesecake. (I know, I'm probably NOT helping anyone on a diet, but what the heck.)
You all enjoy your evening, and take care. Maybe later on, we might pop some popcorn, how's that sound?
....It is no wonder how some drive SUV's....Just check the advertisements on TV for them. They all show people driving through snow and on and off the road like the sky is blue and the sun is shining in the Summertime. And like there is no tomorrow.
Traveling down the highway and all of a sudden it shows them "taking a short cut" up into the woods....Of course not slowing down, splashing across small streams water flying and whatever else gets in their way, and finally speeding out onto the highway "way ahead of any and all comers". Such stupid adds should be removed from TV. Some believe that's the way they can drive...."I've got this SUV and I can do anything"...!!! It has 4-wheel drive...!
Good evening everyone.
(Grabs big beef & bean burrito and some Spanish rice )
Somebody should bring in some really hot salsa just to make everyone jump up a few feet

.....Yes, Tom....and that is why we're seeing some of the terrible results on our news programs.
//Crawls back into Denver from points east, just in time to watch the thermometer dive.
Anyone remember the SUV parody on The Simpsons (Canyonero Commercial) ???
Wind was so bad that the hawks and owls spent most of their day tied-down to fenceposts on the north side of I-70 hiding behind the highway fill sections/berms.
Call for an alert! Chicken in house!
Glad you and Boss Hen got home safely. And that wind that you found will be on my doorstep today. Our high today 40 - right now. Plunging in a couple of hours.
Q - I have noticed that pre-SUV we had almost no roll-overs here in the city proper. Now they have them every so often and it seems there is an SUV somewhere in the mix. Hope they build roll bars in them.
Let's see what's in the cupboard...oatmeal, gag, hot chocolate - no, chocolate should be used on cake, soup (not for breakfast) How about cold pizza!
Off to fridge! (Hope someone left some on the bottom shelf)
....J: As you mention breakfast, I'm reminded of years ago I saw our daughter {as a little girl}, have spaghetti for breakfast down in Disneyworld. We would stay there for a period of time and have breakfast mid morning and that sometimes would be her breakfast food....Ugh.
SUV subject. It is no wonder some people get in trouble with SUV's. The advertising simply shows by having one of them, slowing down is not necessary.....Terrible advertisments.
Our start up here for this Wed. morning is 29 degrees and looks like the sun will shine at least to start it's day.
Good Wednesday morning! Mr & Mrs Mudchicken, glad you made it home safely! Good morning, Mookie!
Coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate and juices are ready. On the warmer bar: bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, rice and toast.
Got awakened this morning by the garbage men emptying the trash bins, and then the paper man hit the security door with the paper. May have to take a little nap after awhile.
Does anyone have any requests for lunch/supper today? Mookie, how about it: do you have any requests today?
Yeah - Fried Garbage men served over paper person toast points!
Can you tell they do the same thing here!

I'll get to scrapin' the grill and putting up a windblock. I'm salivating already!
I have a Christmas Cookie question; When decorating cookies which side to you frost:-Roundor-Flat
Why? I'm asking because the family debate is beginning already. My mother does the flat side but most of the rest do the round side.

You mean they last long enough to frost?
While I have never baked CHRISTMAS COOKIES, it makes more sense to frost the "up" side or the side with the rounded edges.

Dan and Bob, thanks for your help! I've also fixed some cole slaw, brussels sprouts and baked beans. The first steaks are just about ready to come off the grill (Dan, thanks for getting the grill cleaned and ready to go, and putting up the windbreak!), and will be going on the warmer bar in about 5 minutes. Have rare, medium rare, medium well, and well done steaks available. They're all marked on the warmer bar, so help yourselves!!
Also, Dan, Mama always told me to decorate the rounded, top side. So, that's what I always do (when I get a chance to bake cookies from scratch). Hmmm, maybe I'll get all the ingredients next week, and start baking Christmas cookies!! And maybe I'll get the stuff to make mince meat bars, too!!
Mookie, I love your idea of garbage men on paper person toast points!! I may have to try that one of these days!!

Mookie:
Had in my hands this afternoon, a 48" x 102" map (pen and colored ink on paper with cloth backing) of Lincoln Nebrasky dated December 1882 drawn by CB&Q predecessor subsidiary B&M. The thing is a work of art,......now if I could only find a 48" wide scanner/large format color ..copier. Talk about a 125 year old snapshot! (and to think the dim bulbs at BN wanted to throw it out 20 years ago)
