We can vouch for the beautiful Spring in the Carolina's...Returning from our Winter's stay in Florida back several years ago we would side trip into Saluda, N C {several years, looking for action on the hill}, and the green stuff growing and Red Bud and Dog Wood and Rhododendron flowers and others in the town itself was absolutely beautiful. Have pic's but they are not digital....

Thanks guys, for the couple of suggestions for today. Chili is almost ready, and the baby back ribs are going on the grill as I type. So they'll both be ready in time for our lunch 'rush' at 12 noon EST.
Looks like the snow has left our area; if it doing anything now at all, it's a very fine mist, that you can hardly see. Do know that all the cars going by the house aren't using their windshield wipers.
Have a good afternoon, stay warm and dry, and come back in often.

Well said Tom, Mook I believe does understand that things are a bit different here for Summer and Winter from what she gets in her part of the country. However we should remember to invite our fellow forum members to come visit us in mid to late April for our Springtime. As you, I am sure know, that time of year makes most everyone subject to its seduction,
To paraphrase an old saying "You ain't just whistling Dixie there friend."

Yes, I believe any moisture will be appreciated down in the Carolina's area as we understand the drought has been extremely serious.
Hi Model:
We got a dusting down here in NC with rain for the remainder of the day. I can't gripe to much about the stuff this year seeing that we are still in the stages of a year long drought.
Have a great day folks,

For supper tonight, can we have some babyback ribs with slaw and beans? I'll make the cornbread. I'll have coffee and toast this morning.

Only one problem: I don't like babyback ribs. Can we also make a big pot of Texas-style chili with pinto beans on the side?
....Ball bat...! There have been times here that certain electronics have been threatened as well....Not this computer as it has behaved rather well.....and I believe Ed's is the same kind. He once commented about that in the past when I sent him a photo and the computer was in the photo.
White outside here today...about a half inch over night, and snow flurries at times. Believe that's about all the Winter we'll be seeing today...possibly some more snow flurries, but no big accumulating snow. And the temp....?? I thought the cold stuff would be moving in by now but it's 34 plus degrees right now. Started to get a few degrees warmer late last night.
More daylight is accumulating each day passing now...both in the evening and morning. That's a good thing....Spring is getting closer.
...Edit: {Afternoon now}.
To my surprise the temp rose today up to almost 40 degrees and of course took away the little cover of snow we got overnight. But I'm sure that cold wave is still on the way.

Don't ask me how the word doghouse came into my mind, but it did. So I used it. Funny the way the mind works. Maybe I was, at the time that word entered my mind, in the "doghouse." The 70-75 degree local? How about somewhere in central Italy? Exotic, no?

Central Italy - is that for real that it has that kind of climate? I took two years of Latin - can recite "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in Latin - nothing else - and would love to take a trip there.
Oh yes - forgot to tell CW - Houston Ed is puterless for now. Possibly something with a ballbat and a fit?

Ah - this time whining worked! We managed to escape with about 3 inches of fluff. Willy must have been pushing some buttons behind the curtain!
Sir Lion, Grampaw & Railfan1 - I think of Carolinas/Georgia and I think of nice warm weather, hot humid summers and snow would be an insult. Guess I need to rethink the southeast coast.
Oklahoma has very little snow also, but they have critters and storms to make up for that.
Brian - Of course we miss you. You and I agree on your points - I just think people will say things to you in a faceless post that they would never say to your face. Most of us don't set out to jab people, so don't know why there are a few that think they have been anointed with that job.
At any rate, welcome back - missed your tin shoes!
I am joining Tree for that 3 day weekend. Maybe we will draw maps for 3 days.

I'm lurking- just waiting to see if anybody misses me. Sometimes I get overly sensitive to how I'm treated on the forum, and I end up in a "I-don't-want-to-post" mood. But then, in a group person-to-person situation, this is the way I am for the most part anyway- I generally don't speak unless spoken to. The way things have been on the forum lately has just amplified that trait alittle.
Willy and Ed have been around, I've seen posts from them in other threads recently, and Ed even started a thread the other day about foreign power going through his yard.
Red sky at morning...
Had one yesterday, too, but nothing came of it. By the looks of the radar we'll see something today, though.
Thought I had tonight off (after work) but just remembered that I have a dinner meeting. At least there's dinner involved! The dogs are wondering if I'll ever come home. They got spoiled over the holidays.
And Monday is a federal holiday, so I get a three day weekend. This is the first five day week I've put in since before Thanksgiving - it's gonna be a long one!
Bearclaw and tea. I'll be looking over the instructions for that new DeLorme mapping program I got. One thing about stuff like that is that there are features you just never discover. It's like Christmas every time you play with it....

morning
a little snow/rain mix here in nw ohio.getting ready for the big chill this weekend.but tonight is friday for me.
Saposed start snowing in the Chicago area in the next couple hours
Now im hungry!
Good Thursday morning. Looks like we bit the bullitt. It is snowing, not very heavy, but temp is currently 33, going to a high in the low to mid 40s, so what we have right now, which may top out at 1/2", will be gone this afternoon. Our Jefferson Co. schools are open, and just to the south of us, in Bullitt Co., are closed.
Coffee, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot tea are ready, and fresh juice is made this morning. On the warmer bar: bacon, sausage, oatmeal, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, bagels, bear claws, fresh pineapple slices and cantaloupe chunks are on the menu this morning.
Talked with Jim (JHH) last night. He's doing all right.
.....We're to get off easy on the latest snow working thru....Less than an inch. Believe the "Low" is passing just above us...So we're on the "good" side of it.
Good, looks like we've had a busy afternoon in here! And it looks like most of the Italian spaghetti and garlic bread disappeared. Someone must have moved it to a siding for later.
So guess that leaves the beef roast, potatoes, carrots, peas and slaw for supper tonight. Joe and Lance, have containers fixed for you both for work tonight.
Think the snow won't show up for us untl sometime in the morning. Joe, I remember that snow of 1978: I was working at the bank at the time, and the snow went above my knees, about like it did in 1994, when our city was basically shut down.
Cw
thanks for supper.as for snow the most I've seen is the blizzard of 78.nobody moved for a week.last years febuary storm was only 10 inches of snow but the wind made very high drifts out here in the country.going to be interesting this weekend.bundle up.
....I believe 30" is the most I've seen fall in a 24 hr. period. That is enough to paralyze most forms of transport for a while.
It's also enough to muff out almost all sounds, especially if it is a moist snow sticking to everything.
Hey tree:
I'll let you have all that white stuff that looks a lot like grits up there with you.
