Where did you spy these good old loco's ? _ Where were they headed? - like to know if they may come my way some time

athelney ; 309 runs from Joffre Qc to Mac yard in Toronto. The 6000s (SD-40u ) are based in Edmonton and the 5078 in Winnipeg. The 6900s are now IC engines ( ex-GECX leasers )maybe out of Homewood ILL. So they run all over the CN system, you may see one any time in the future.

Today I saw Amtrak P42 #124 pulling two coaches and 8 flatcars, followed by Amtrak GP38 #720. They were heading south down the NEC through the Wilmington Station.

The flats cars appeared to have concrete ties. The ties were almost the length of teh cars. Can concrete ties support more then 1 set of tracks?

Two interesting items in Springfield, OR today.

A two unit set of light engines westbound ... both of them NS C40-9Ws.

Three 40 foot boxcars in the Springfield local. (See thread moving for dismantle?)

You say a CN&W engine. I have seen it twice but that was a long time ago. Where did you see it?

I did a little rail snooping around the yard of the CN here in Fond Du Lac, Wi,and boy did I see some neat and interesting units. On the RIP track was WC/ex CNW GP7 / 9 # 4133,in its green and yellow paint sheme, with the FRVR railroad logo on the side of the cab, and shes been completely parted out. For a while (4-5 months), I am thinking that it was in the shops to salvage usable parts from the locomotive. It was not seen on the RIP track,as it was on freight car trucks, but now it has the 4 axle trucks that the unit is suppose to have. Also sitting with this unit is WC GP's #1503,1505,1506,1507, & 1508.Apparently these units are all dead.Disposition is unknown, though units 1508 and 1503 are sitting behind the ex CNW unit. On the South side of the yard was NS SD60 # 6596 in the new NS logo, along with NS D9-40CW # 8994. By the ex CNW roundhouse is CN M.O.W OHIO crane X-21 # 503000. This week WC unit GP40 3026 has been seen doing switching chores on the South part of the yard. This locomotive has the State of Wisconsin map on it.Unknown as to where it went.Did not see it working this Saturday.

What I saw was a CNW still in Green/Yellow paint. I wasn't where I could get a number for it though.

Today at Wheaton Illinois, I saw something very special. I saw #8567 of the Union Pacific. For those of you who don't know why that engine is speial, it is special because it is an un touched Chicago North Western. [:)]

Today I accidentally saw NS 9755 and NS 8356. I was on the way to the LHS (which I found out has now closed [V] ) and was taking the long way (to go by Union Station of course [:p] ) and they came by. I bearly had time to grab a pen and write down the numbers, there were also 2 UP engines in the lashup but I was not able to get them.

I crossed over the 3rd Street bridge and saw a UP winged unit waiting to go by Union Station and into the yard or on to parts north.

The other morning at 4 am while on the way to work I saw a UP unit but was not able to read the number on it.

Another day I saw UP 267 (I think that is the correct number). It was a pusher on a loaded coal train.

I actually have been seeing "power" but many times it is on the way to work and I can bearly (if at all) see them long enough to get numbers.

Went out yesterday to kississimee and took a good look around, the Amtrak lean-tos had severe roof damage. But what really made me curious was when ever a vehicle drove over the tracks I could hear the rails make this curious KA-THUNK, KA-THUNK sound and I was only 3 feet away from the crossing and standing near the empty tracks, while waiting, watching for a train to come round the corner, but none came, only sounds of the rails making that weird sound.

UP 5965 A Flag unit

I have been seeing some SP units but they were patched. [:(]

I went railfanning today. The day started out real nice but turned cloudy just as I got to a railfanning spot. I took photos anyway, if they turn out, well good, if they do not turn out, then well what can you say.
