an NS high hood GP38-2 (5172), an NS standard hood GP38-2 still in Conrail colors (5292), an unkown engine in Conrail colors, all pulling a loaded coal train (all NS cars as well) and an unknow NS loco on a seperate train.

Yesterday,I saw a Duluth, Winnipeg, and Pacific engine on an eastbound BNSF doublestack train going through Fullerton.[8D]

On Saturday (I just forgot to post about it [B)] ) I saw:

UP 8069
UP 7292

The horn of the 8069 sounded worse than a yard switcher. There must have been something wrong with it. It did not sound normal at all.

They were pulling a empty coal train. One the end of the trains was SP 6288 but the 6288 was in a UP number patch. At least it still was wearing SP colors, just not SP engine numbers.


And earlier in the week (yes, forgot to post about it too [B)] , you know I must be getting older lol ) I saw UP 6735 at the wye ready to head out of town. I also saw a CNW unit but it was headed towards me and I couldn't get a number.

Saturday afternoon my husband, daughter and I were headed through Sussex, and saw a coal train led by three locomotives: two UP in the lead, and one WC. I wasn't close enough to see their numbers, and I don't know my locomotives well enough to know exactly what they were. I've seen UP coal trains nearer Milwaukee, but this was the first time I'd seen 100+ cars loaded with coal on WC's line with UP power. Cool.

on saturday I saw Two UP engines heading up the balast train from Rock springs to Janesville. They were ideling in the yard in Madison, wich belongs ot the Wisconsin and southern. I think they were both SD40's but I'm not positive. Numbers were 2977, and 2960, which was an ex-CNW unit.

Also last night the WSOR local came, WSOR 2051 and 2056 as the power. Both are SD20's.

Today on the way to work I saw a Canadian Pacific boxcar setting on an overpass. I did write down the number but it is in the truck. [:(] If the spirit moves me I might get it later and report it. [;)] I have seen a lot of Wisconsin Central cars there too. The newspaper is published not far from there and these cars are probably carrying the paper rolls.

The number was CP 220289 [:)]

Went railfanning for the forth or fifth time in two weeks:

9 out of 15 engines we saw were C40-9W's (the common power on NS, over a third of the NS roster is C40-9W's).

I just saw southbound Amtrak Hiawatha #340 or 342 at 10:00pm through the Grayland Metra station in Chicago. The train was running about an hour and a half late. The interesting thing was the head end engine was a SOO Line geep running long hood. Train must of had some problems. Anyone heard where they swapped locos?

Went into Springfield Friday afternoon and while driving over the bridge by the loco service facility I saw a bunch of SF units and a BN green unit number 8024.

Later Friday night I saw 8024 as the 4th unit and 2 or 3 SF units all pulling a freight northwest out of Springfield.

Yesterday I saw a CP Rail train. But it was just sitting on a siding. I didnt see it up close though.

I saw this CNW engine a few weeks ago in Rose Yard in Altoona. Hadn't seen one before, and this was the best picture I could get. And Zach (UPTRAIN) informed me that this was the third C44-9W ever built! (so you can blame him if he's wrong)

On a whim, I took a ride to Janesville, Wisconsin, on Saturday. Quite a bit of Wisconsin & Southern power in the "Five Points" area and near the roundhouse. SD40-2 4002 was switching cars on the west end of the yard (after I spotted movement from the nearby Taco Bell), and I spotted a train while on my way back to the Five Points. I caught up with said train at Delevan Drive, SD40-2s 4001 and 4007 led the train. Some interesting cars: Illinois Terminal covered hopper (rusted badly), a tank car that I believe was Mexican (GAMX rep'ting marks), and a half-pink FMC cvd hopper. I think this train was either the JC or the MAJ, I'm not sure.

Ooops my apologies the dash 9 was # 5055. the tped up loco was #4513.went back today csx had them going all diections including 2 bnsf noranges coming off the east west main heading south.coming from the west. Matt loved it!

saw a great shot last week if i just had a camera... was on the Philly El, and at one point it passes over the Northeast Corridor... so this was at about 7 am, so still plenty of shadows and such... saw to Acela's passing each other in the morning light

now today...

got to ride both the subway and the El here in Philly, plus saw a SEPTA commuter train and an Amtrack train
