Evenin', all - Chloe, a cup of decaf for me (too late for the leaded stuff). Thanks!

Good to have my co-worker back today at w**k, and it was a very nice day - only one person in walk-in, one I talked with (triage is the fancy word) out in the lobby and had paperwork sent home with the client (who only is off work on Mondays), and only a couple of phone calls(!). Yeah!! [yeah]. Good for getting the paper pile whittled down a bit...

Our club meeting tonight was mostly to do with meeting with the landlord about a possible move. A church uses the front of the commercial building we're in, and they were asking if we would be willing to move to an adjacent building the landlord owns so they could use our part of the building for Sunday school, etc. The other building would be a bigger space, and we'd be in the basement (which has a ramp down to the entrance). It'd be more space, but the basement would involve a lot of prep w**k before we could move in. And then there's all the w**k we've done in the current space. The club's been in the current space for about five years (and probably has put $10,000 of materials, track, etc. into the layout). So we would be mostly starting from scratch again on the layout, but have a bigger space (and likely bigger rent). The landlord said his preference would be for us to stay, since the church has property for building a church building and might move out in a couple of years, anyway. We decided to ask if the church would be willing to help with prepping the basement to offset the effective loss to the club. We think the church members don't realize how much w**k goes into the layout, but thinks it's just a few 4 X 8 plywood tables that would be easy to move. We suggested the landlord might should have the pastor and some elders come see what they're expecting us to 'easily' move... Wink [;)] Might open their eyes to what model railroading is actually like.

Well, time for me to head for bed. Sounds like some of you've been getting some rain. We got some cooler weather today, and tomorrow is supposed to be pleasant also. Smile [:)]

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Evening Gang: Today went pretty good. Mary Ann and I worked in the yard almost the whole day. She mowed the lawn while I cut down an oak tree that gave up the ghost last year during the drought. Besides that tree we lost all the pine trees up here at the house. We got the front yard cleaned up some, we still have a couple of places to do tomorrow and are going to layout a road to the old stables and where her container is going.

I haven't gotton to the basement tonight but did some more research on the mine layouts. I'm still working on the mine sites.

Well I think that I'll cut out and see what else is going on.

Good Night All

That's probably it.

The lightning doesn't bother me. The way this place is grounded, it's like a Faraday cage. The over-roof (28 gauge galvanized corrugated sheet steel) is grounded to the trailer body, which is 1/8" thick aircraft aluminum, the skirting around the trailer is 28 gauge galvanized V-crimp sheet steel which is bolted to the metal of the trailer body. The steel skirting is buried 5 inches in the ground. The trailer has been struck several times with no or very little damage. The lightning charge just skins around the outside and goes directly to ground. All the electric lines inside have massive surge suppressors. Cell phones don't work in here at all. One of my friends came in talking on one and the call was immediately dropped and he had no service whatsoever until he stepped back outside. No, the thing that scares me is large hail. I have little defense against it.

Good evening to all....first time on line today...remants of Barry here today, just a whimp of a TD...we received 0.88" of rain in last 24 hours, it came mostly in one 1 hour downpour today at 2PM...hardly any wind at all. I have been spending most of the day installing Adobe Photshop Elements 5.0 and learning to use it...this will help me organize and get my photos to the Diner guests.

FERGIE: As mentioned above..Barry is here and gone, a big "0", just some rain. Everything is now "up" in the garden that was planted from seeds, and hopefully I can return to some modeling real soon.

RT: Good job on handling the mold, Kilz works real good on mold and water stains alike, used it several times over the years.

MIKE: If all mama does is use the internet, that machine should work just fine, that is exactly what they were designed for...low cost, internet use only.

JEFF: Lightening has been raising hell here too...my son's house suffered a "ground" or ER strike during the storm two days ago. All the circuit breakers for the 2nd and 3rd floor let go, and he lost the kids two computers and his own, as well as the wireless base station phone. I'm not particurly excited about tonights weather forecast. It's looking pretty nasty.

Showers and thunderstorms likely in the evening...then chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Some thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall...large hail and damaging winds in the evening. Lows in the upper 60s. West winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.

See the storm area over in Texas? It's moving south-east, right toward me.

Good Evening All,

Haven't been around much - too much going on and not enough time. I'm at the start of an 8 week in a row run covering most of the northeast and one dash into Ontario. I'll have a rootbeer float though while I'm in. And a slice of cake - that angelfood with vanilla frosting looks a treat.

Putting in windows for a power plant for the museum layout tonight and got tired of filling in paperwork for the Dr appointment I have tomorrow so here I am - good thing too as we had sunken to page 2. Lime Rock went well despite the potential problems of bringing 10 cars and the hillclimb at Mt Equinox is this coming weekend with just 3 cars there - one of them mine.

I'll try to pop in later, CULBig Smile [:D], J.R.

I'm needaservo on the traxxas forums.

Good thing you're hiring a pro electrician because it's a big hassle with out one because of building codes. Good thing on the free dry wall and lumber that wil save alot of money.

You're on the Traxxas forums? I'm RevoTruckster on there.

Good news!  It turns out I won't need to fill out as much paperwork.  I only need to fill out the electricity paperwork (because you can't run a MR on one 110 volt outlet).  Probably get an electrician to come out and put in a few outlets.  That saves a LOT of trouble.  Plus, my uncle says he can get a lot of free drywall and lumber from his job (construction), so my materials cost will be significantly lower than I expected.

Gee Wiz!  All I wanted to do was fix my basement up for train use...

and now I've got approximately 60 pages if building permits to fill out.

It's not even gonna be heated or A/Ced!  That should qualify as something you DON'T need a permit for.

All I was going to do was put up some walls.  Jeez. Angry [:(!]

Hey everyone!

Today looks like good weather here.

The DOT is progressing well on the Highway 74 reworking.  They're making it 4 lanes and adding a lot of new pavement in areas that are already 4 lanes.  They've been doing this since November.  Hopefully, they'll be done soon, so we can all enjoy the better traffic flow.

I talked to my CCO and he says next week he can help me with the basement, so hopefully we can get it fixed up for the railroad.

Good Morning All!

David: Happy, Although belated, Birthday!! Don't be too much in a hurry to grow up as being "older" does have it's drawbacks.

Bogp40: Thanks for sharing the pics with us, really nice and I wish I had something that big to let my babies roll onSad [:(]

Dick: Are ya feeling the effects of Barry yet? We're suppose to get some rain later today, which is good as the Garden is finally planted and will need a bit of help for the first while.

Well today is Clean Up Day as I head backout on Wednesday so clean up the garage, Clean up the basement and cleanup my act! (ya time for a badly needed haircut as seen in the  photo of me and Tom)

Anyway must run

Had an 911 call this morning. Here's a copy of my report.

Monday, June 04, 2007. 911 called out Sundown Fire Dept for a transformer fire at Norm's RV Park on Hwy 171, north of Leesville. Safety Officer (Sundown 3) went to station (station 23) and readied all vehicles (Sundown pumper 1 and tanker 3). Sundown Sub-station (station 23A) (Empire Point pumper 1) prepared for action. Asst Chief went to scene to access the situation and declared said situation code 4 (under control). The call-out was 10-22'd (cancelled) after 15 minutes.

Hello and a late good evening to all (if anyone is still up).  I'll have a decaf cappuccino, please.

Just returned from 2 days in Cincinnati and I see the diners have been reporting in with some good stuff. Happy birthday to Davidp. That's quit a century, jeff!

Talking about gas prices, local paper here ran an article on people with houseboats with 200 gallon tanks paying marina gas prices to fill them. ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching !! Big bucks!

Congrats to bobk's son for graduation and his daughter going to the prom. More neat club layout photos including the city scene.

Der's busy making trees.  Hey, Nova Scotia guys! When I saw that CN coach by Pier 21 in 2001, it did not have those two guys standing next to it. My how things change!  good to know big Cabndian steam is not completely bought out by fergie,  YET!

Oh speaking of b'days.  Granddaughter turned six this weekend. Shelley and I told her she'll never be five again, and the little girl's quick response was: "That's how life is."

Well, the cappucinno was good.  Time for bed. G'nite.

JimCG: I'd like to stay dry tonight, but there's more stroms on the way. The weather guesser said they will arrive about 3am.

Jeff: That sounds like the right car to have when you can't wait to get to the LHS.

Not much tonight so I'll say Good Night.

Evening, I'll have a barley pop please dear.

Me, the boys and a couple their freinds got most the trees worked up and the brush hauled back to the burn pile today. I've still got a couple loads to take over to the campground and some raking to finish yet. Course we had to feed the bunch, Mother made tater, an bean salads, cole slaw, and a apple pie. I fixed 2 dozen burgers n 2 pack of hot dogs. They didn't leave much for left overs

DICK,, Mother got a E-machine with Vista on it. She did a lot of looking round n talkin to different ones. Most thought this would do what she wanted with no problems. Next month guess we're gettin one of those wire less things to hook them both up .

RT,,, room looks good, when ya starting on the layout?

JIM CG,, I'm guessing been I've been across both those bridges at some time. The last time I was down that way was in 75 or 76 I think.

Best gets round, bout sheet time and I'm pooped out. No kids tomorrow, so it's back outside. Hope ya'll has a good night

Evening, Diners! Janie, how about a root beer float and a burger, please?

DerJohn, Missed your description of that shot, I guess (You did say it was from your older layout, right? Wink [;)] )

Mike, did you come across to Cape at Chester when you came this way, or on the old Cape bridge? The old Cape bridge got taken down (with explosives) a while ago, and the new Emerson bridge is much better to cross (and wider), if you ever have to come here again. That old Cape bridge didn't leave much of any clearance if you had a semi coming in the other lane. Smile [:)] Good luck learning the new computer, by the way.

Jeff, that sounds like one powerful car you have there (even if it does guzzle a bit...Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^])

Oh, last night at church I didn't see the woman I was wondering about. Then during the message, Fitz (our youth pastor, who had the sermon) was talking about "Waiting...", and used an example of relationships, mentioning about "hoping to meet someone at the coffee bar after church"... (Ouch! Shock [:O]) Hard part is, sometimes the messages (no matter which minister's doing it that weekend) have this uncanny knack of being related (for example) to something we are studying in small group (which meets right after the early service) or some other 'coincidence' like that... I'm not in any rush, but now I'm wondering which way to go about the woman.

Spent a fair chunk of the afternoon still trying to coordinate files (this time, email files to find a particular one that didn't appear to be in the email I'd imported). Think I have it on the way to being all together now. I've also learned some more in the process about how the email program stores its info.

Oh, Hoople, I can relate to when you were impatient for the Consolidation to arrive - I'm wondering when the SW9/1200 will be arriving. At least now, the tracking site shows that it made it as far as St. Louis (from Phoenix), so maybe tomorrow or Tuesday it'll arrive and I can check it out... Then if I win this eBay auction I'm bidding on tonight, I'll get to wait for that, too. Less than an hour to go now, so I'll be getting out of here to watch on that.

Hope everyone has had a productive and/or fun weekend, and that you all stay dry and healthy.

Blessings,

Not long ago some-one in the Diner asked if anyone had heard from our old UK Coffee Shop guests. It so happened that I joined Facebook last week (to enter a poll) and in the process UKMatt’s name appeared in the “contacts on your list” thingy. Shortly thereafter I got an e-mail from him, and the correspondence since then has gone like this, (I’ve edited a bit)

Ah - sorry, I didn't know who you were! Yes, I graduated in July last year - I'm now mostly working in G scale on the MRR front and I'm currently trying to get a career as a freelance writer off the ground. I didn't bother re-registering on the MRR board when they did the big change-over as I'm now on G Scale Mad (a UK-based board for large scale). Yours, Matt Thanks Matt, and good luck on the writing thing. On the MR Forum front, some were asking if anyone had heard from our old UK contacts, Mind if I post your note in the Trackside Diner? (TD is the successor to the Coffee Shop that got too big for it's administrative good and was closed at the end of last year.) All the best, John. Yes - please do! G Scale Mad welcomes friendly members too if anyone there has large scale leanings Matt
So, Paul ( and other large scale types) if you’d like to send to Matt, I’ve got his address, just let me know.

Sue:

Have you been making any more original trees?
…yes, I’ve strung another “clothesline” of dried Goldenrod flowerlets coated in raw medium sawdust on Friday night. I soaked them (eyedropper seemed to work OK) in what I hoped would be a spruce-green paint wash last night. This morning they were half decent spruce type small trees (don’t forget this is an N project) about 20’ high. Just the ticket for those rock ledges I have. I also tried the same technique with alder and spruce cones (coat with sawdust and paint when dried) Not convincing, won’t pursue that further at this time.

Mark: Good job on that chuff programming by the sound of it. BTW, how does it get to sound to your eye? (swg), just kidding!

RT: That Kiltz sure does…Kills stains that is. I’m impressed. Looks like it’s full steam ahead fro your train room…Whooo Hooo!

Tea is on the way, and at 9:00 we will try again to watch a program that we started at 8:00 but the satellite signal went out. I called the cs people and eventually got some-one who wasn’t “presently helping other customers”. He re-booted the receiver and everything looked good. So we’ll watch it from the beginning. It’s a Miss Marple mystery, so all the set up stuff in the opening scenes is what we missed.

So, I’ll say Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.Angel [angel]

Well I spent the day painting my trainroom if you all remember about a month or so ago I showed you all a pic of the the walls finally getting done and yes it showed a bad stain from where there use to be mold well the back side of all these boards was painted with Kiltz befor going up (pic one of wall up unpainted)

Well this am i painted the walls with kiltz white sealer ( see pic 2)

And then this afternoon painted it light blue its called edge blue (see pic 3)

Well next will be putting up shelves to see what all I have in trains and probally do a shelf layout to get me going then I'll start on a layout for the room i figured I'll have 7' by 13' to use for a layout which isn't that big really when your talking O gauge but do plan in the far corner (the corner that I took pics of) of having a mountain and on top of mountain will have a n scale loop with my 4-8-4 northern going around to make it look like its way up there in the distance.

Good evening to all....cloudy, raw, damp day all day today. so no threat of TS's. But we have the remnants of the Tropical Depression headed our way with heavy rains due after midnight. Luckily, all the small seed plants are now UP in the veggie garden, so hopefully they will hold their roots if we get downpours.

Big High School graduation party this afternoon for Grandson, I can't believe the kids went into the pool to swim being only 53F, however the water temp was 74F so I guess that explaines it all.

JEFF: That is quite an engine, I'll bet it does turn a few heads at the lights when they see that baby take off.

MIKE: So what make of PC did the CFO get? Did it come with Vista OS or XP? If it has Vista, I hope she got at least 1GB of RAM, because that is really what is needed for a minimum.

DER JOHN: High School graduations back in my day ( 1956 ) were no big deal either. My graduation was at the school church, and after the ceremonies and awards and speaches, that was IT!!! Today, it seems that there is a party for all graduations, kind of like birthdays.

So Fergie didn't pick up the 2-10-4??????? Surprising development I would say. Maybe he is waiting for the end of the show to talk the price down.

I should have know something was up Friday, when I wanted to go to my not so LHS, spent $20 then went to Hobby Lobby and spent another $20, then she took me out for steaks, with no argument or nasty looks. So couldn't say much yesterday when she came home with this thing, Oh well.

She was workin' ya my man!

You're a smart guy.......you'll figure that thing out.

Hope you had a good time at the cookout.

Quick visit this afternoon. I was printing out some pictures of the Cleveland Cliffs shafts in Ishpeming Mich. I actually got to the basement last night and did some work on the Sandy Lake head frame and tried to layout it and the Cliff's shaft. Getting a shaft mine on a 24 nch wide modual an't easy McGee. I'm going to put one of them on a 3x3.5 ft bump out in the center isle on one end. The other will go along the mainline on one of the 24 inch wide modulas. Wish me luck.

We had another thunder storm move through this morning about 8 o'clock. Another 3/4 inch of rain. Now I have to go out and get to woooo, wooooo. You know that thing that unretired folks have to do.

See you all later.

YAY!
I MADE THE 4006th POST! WOO!
Well I haven't been in in awhile...
Caught up in school junk and such... And no one ever really replys to me, but that's ok.
I still have a few days to go... 11 to be exact. I have to get out on the 13th. Well it has been worse really.
I just finished up programming my 2-8-0. Now the DDE works and the chuff rate is perfect to my eye, except at slow speeds. At half throttle its good. The original setting was something like 60 and that was chuff-rest-chuff-rest with only 2 chuffs per rev. Now it goes chuffchuffchuffchuff.
:)
