If it were me I would say that I can't seem to find time for half the stuff that I half do.

Have you been making any more original trees?

Hello again folks: Train show yesterday in Truro was, as Fergie had said it would be, much better than the last one I was at in Cole Harbour. Some very impressive layouts, and many of them in N. If Fergie went at all, he was either later that I was, or is NOTcornering the market in heavy steam. There was at least one 2-10-4, and one 2-10-2 still for sale, and I was there about lunchtime. I didn’t buy much, just an interesting set of “Normal people” by WS (OK, they’re “Ordinary people”, but I’m sure it was a typo on the part of the WS graphics dept!Clown [:o)]) I did get some very useful info on N vehicles by Make My Model ( www.MakeMyModel.com ). Looks like I have a source for a number of modern trucks and such.Thumbs Up [tup]

CapeJim:

DerJohn, always good to see that ol' Revell small town station - that's one of the best shots of your layout I've seen recently (lots o'progress, nice background, very good w..k on that!).
…Jim lad, you are getting confused (maybe it’s the funk thing Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]) That Revell kit was on the old Athabasca and Western, my prairie layout in Alberta. It’s long gone I’m afraid, but I’m glad you liked the shot. The Docksider was all gussied up as if given TLC by a preservation Society. The tender was scratch built from half of one of those “pump” type toothpaste tubes. I figured that a Docksider wouldn’t get far on the wide open spaces without some extra fuel and water!

Sue:

Bob: Congratulations on all the graduations in your family! This whole graduation thing is a thing of wonder to me, as we had nothing remotely similar when I left either Junior or Senior school in England (1952 and 1958 respectively) We just said goodbye and left, that was that. After a while the results of our final exams (“A” Levels) came in the mail, and from those we gathered that we had done OK. The only thing resembling a party was watching a fellow student turn green from drinking beer on the train up to London.Tongue [:P] Never saw him again, heard he was raising chickens in Kenya some years ago.

David: Happy B-Day [bday]Happy Birthday! (Sat) Looks like the LHS trip (Hope you remembered to say thank you to Jeff Whistling [:-^]) was a great present.

Well, Well, Welcome Back SiberianTom! I wondered if you would pop in after Fergie said you had visited Halifax via VIA. Are the new coaches as horrible to ride in as people say? On the track (we see them sometimes on visits to Truro) they look quite sharp.

Better get this posted, no-one in since PC at 7:30…. TTFN.

Mornin' all!

Just getting ready to head out.  Have to go teach this morning.  I love it!

After that, we head out to the store to pick up my son's birthday present.  Today is the big day for him and he's getting an electric scooter that needs picked up.  Then it's back here for cake and more presents and probably an afternoon of me assembling that scooter!

Later!

I should have know something was up Friday, when I wanted to go to my not so LHS, spent $20 then went to Hobby Lobby and spent another $20, then she took me out for steaks, with no argument or nasty looks. So couldn't say much yesterday when she came home with this thing, Oh well.

JIM CG, I've been to the Cape few times, but always from the ILL side there, never been there from St Lou.

BOB K,,, congrads on the kids graduations. Times like those help make the head and back aches worth it. Those demolitions can be harder than the rebuilds, Hope the next part goes well for ya.

CHUCK an KATHY glad every things going well with the rehab and all

DAVID, a HAPPY BURTHRENDAY to ya. Sounds like you n Jeff had a good trip to the not so LHS.

TOM, great to hear from you again, and I see you n Fergie are as purrty as ever from the pics

DICK,, me n Mother liked the bear story, but it didn't say if he got his burgers n beer before they run him off.

Worked on cutting up those ash trees yesterday, so I'm bout down today and still got plenty more to do. 2 of the boys are coming out to help today, so might get it all done. Course the little ones are coming too, for hot bogs , hamburgers and what ever else Grandma cooks. Best gets round, hope ya'll has a gooden n stay safe

Very close. It's a 94 Century with a 3.1 V6 that's been bored over to a 3.3 and rebuilt, leaning heavily toward the high performance side of the house. We're talking a turbocharger, completely water cooled intake and 6 injectors, each injector is equal to a 2 barrel carb, oversize steel alloy heads, super-chipped of course, high performance cam, high energy ignition system, special heavy duty high geared trans-axle, high capacity fuel pump, triple core radiator and a high capacity water pump. 0 to 65 in 6 seconds is pretty good for a vehicle like the Century. Nobody expects it to be able to move that quickly. Stomp the gas and you're peeling yourself off the back seat. The looks I get from people driving sports cars can make me laugh all day. The downside is that it gets terrible gas mileage. And no, I didn't build the engine. A friend of mine who's a race mechanic built it. If you like sleepers, you'll love this one. The engine appears to be stock, on the outside. Do a close inspection and you start to see the trick parts. The 900 amp battery is somewhat of a giveaway.

Good evening gents, so to be so late getting into the Diner, but it was a very busy Saturday outside.......the storm yesterday had one bolt of lightening that hit somewhere on the hill behind our house, the clap of thunder was so loud that it scared the daylights out of my wife, and I jumped to attention. It knocked out all the circuits breakers for power on the 2nd floor of my son's house on that side of the hill. He lost computer, modem, router and telephone service. Today it was hot and humid, many TS's, but they all passed north or south of us...GOOD !!!

It looks like the warm front moved back north, as it is 74F right now at 9 pm, with a RH of 74% and a DP of 65F, that is very humid for this time of the day/night...no blankets tonight, and the fan will be going full steam ahead.

The Scanner just announced  a Police call that a bear was wandering the neighborhood. The caller was nervous because there was a party going on two houses up the street. Welllllll HELLO,  the smell of food on the grill, cold beer on tap, music, and the LOCAL BEAR DIDN'T GET AN INVITE??? I'd crash the party too!!!!

CHUCK & KATHY: Glad to hear that the Rehab is working, that sure is encouraging!! As for Whie Glove Inspection, just like in the Army, you never know when they will show up, so you had better be ready Chuck!!! LOL

DAVIDP: Happy Birthday David......14!!! Happy B-Day [bday]Happy B-Day [bday] Ok, tell mom your a man now, and she can have a locomotive placed on the BD cake instead of a cat. Best wishes for some MRR stuff!!!

JEFF: 10 to 12 MPG????? What are driving a 4 barrel carb race car or a 1 ton truck? You should get a high mileage car for your NSLHS, then you could spend the savings on more MRR items!!! LOL

PAUL: I think that PC is controlling the weather down your way, he has set up this blocking upper level LOW pressure system in the midwest that is responsible for all rain down your way, it just keeps pumping all that Gulf moisture over Texas. By the time you cut your grass for hay, it will be tusk high to an elephant.

ED: What a Red Sox game today!! The wife and I were at the 99 resturant for supper when the big 7th inning started. Everyone was watching the overhead TV's from their seats, and one guy had a Yankee hat on, and he got all excited when the Yanks got the HR in the 7th to break the tie......then....when the Red Sox erupted with 6 runs, he couldn't take it with all the Red Sox fans around cheering, especially when Jeter made his two errors, and paid his bill and walked out to more cheers.

Since Dick, PC, and Jeff have been doing the weather reports it's been raining here. Do I see a pattern there? It stormed last night and we got another 1+ inch of rain. At this rate it won't dry out until September.

Happy B-Day [bday] David. I guess that Jeff gave you the trip to the LHS for your birthday. You got a couple of good items there.

We didn't get back to the house untill almost 5pm. After that I finished mowing the back and Mary Ann planted some of the flowers that she got the other day. We're both bushed. I think that I'll bug out and see what else is going on.

They really need to come up with different names for mascots.

Well, the basement plan is an OK from the COO (chief operations offier; aka my dad) and I'm about to contact the CCE (chief construction engineer; my uncle).  Looks like I should be able to get this thing started soon.

I tried the link to the band, but it comes up error.

Hello all, Root Beer on PC please.

I've developed a plan for my basement situation.  It will leave me with a roughly 10 by 30 foot train area and an area for my "manhole" (for details on the project visit my CSX Lowell Subdivision thread in the Layout Building forum).

Things are progessing well on the home front.  Our Bermuda is starting to grow back, and we cleared out a bunch of brush from the front yard today.

Have a great day!

CSXguy,

You must know me or at least my daughter April, the colorguard captain. If your not posting any personal info on the forum, email me. I know most of the WHS band, especially the seniors.

I'm April's dad, the one that makes all the props and backdrops for your illustrious band director, John Duff. Congratulations on NESBA first place for the division.

You must have been to the club, I don't run any CSX, but all that Chessie and B&O stuff is mine. Look familiar?

Afternoon all well heres the joke of the day for you all

The head Greenie Tree Hugging Lady Activist, who was responsible for

getting horses banned from National Parks and State Forests, was

climbing a big tree to have a look out over the forestry when a Tawny

Frogmouth Owl attacked her for invading its nesting site.

In a panic to make her escape, she slid down the tree, getting many

splinters in the crotch of her designer shorts. In considerable pain

she hurried to the nearest Doctor, told him she was an

environmentalist, and how she got all the splinters.

The Doctor listened with great patience and then told her to go into

the examining room and he would see if he could help her.

She waited for three hours before the Doctor reappeared. The angry

woman demanded: "What took you so long?"

He smiled and then told her: "Well, I had to get permits from the

Environmental Protection Agency, the Forestry Service, National Parks

and Wildlife Service, Rural Fire Service, and Conservation and Land

Management, before I could remove "Old Growth Timber" from a

recreational area... I am sorry but they turned me down."

Morning All!

Good to see some faces I haven't seen in a while!

How's everybody doing today?

I'm just killing time before I go and hang the garage door opener this morning.  Dispite the weather guesers prediction of rain for the last three days, all we've gotten so far was a 10 minute sprinkle a couple of days ago, and then nothing but cloudless, sunny skies.  Oh well, we could've used the rain.

More track laying and wiring if I can get to it tonight.  The staging level is getting close to done and the lower sceniced deck won't be far behind that.  Then comes the helix.  I'm kind of dreading that, but I've got a friend who just built two and said he came up with a way to do it that works pretty well, so I'll be sure to invite him over soon!

Well, I best get at it!

Later all!

Good Morrrrnning, Janie...Zzz [zzz] Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm awake (I think). Yeah, right - a glass of Ed's OJ, a cup of coffee would be very good, please, and one of those ham & egg & cheese thingees. Oh, and one of Bill T.'s donuts (I'll have one of those chocolate longjohns, since I got in before most of the morning crew today). Thanks, Janie!

Lee/wm3798:

Boy, good thing this place is open 24 hours...  I just got back from the office.  Why do I always set my deadlines for Fridays?

Any pie left?

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the Diner, WMLee - that okay to call you? (We have another Lee from Indiana way, if my memory is awake and working this morning) Yep, our virtual servers are in here at most all hours of the day and night. On your pie question, that depends on how hungry some of our pie-eaters in here have been...Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^] You probably might ask Zoe or Chloe (quietly) if there's any pie hidden away in the back... So what's you layout like? I'm guessing that you probably model the WM, would that be too wild of a guess? Wink [;)] Fill us in about yourself - I gather your w**k includes deadlines, huh? (we try not to upset a couple of our recently retired Diner attenders by mentioning the 'w' word...) As for your deadlines, it probably might depend on if you get to set those deadlines or if someone else does that for you. I saw a quote one time that might apply for you:

"Warning: Dates in the calendar are closer than they appear."

One word of warning for you - if you get top of page honors (TOP), you get to pay for the drinks (and food) for those in the Diner that morning/evening, so remember to bring your card with you if you come. Shock [:O]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg] Just be careful about paying the tab fairly soon - Chloe's cousin Vinnie is not someone you want to have to talk with about the bill in here...

Chuck, good to hear that the PT is helping  Kathy get around some more. Sounds like your layout planning is comin' along, too. Thumbs Up [tup] I haven't heard what delayed those white-glove inspectors, but I'm sure they'll be along pretty soon, so don't let your guard down. Wink [;)]

I'll be over at the table, drinking my coffee, and will see who comes in while I'm waking up sitting here.

Blessings on your weekends,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

                     HI ALL:

Everyone is fine just finally caught up on my reading both email and here. Kathy is finally sleeping got to get Amber the dog in to feed her and see if I can find cats all five of them for feedin'. Not muchto report Kathy is doing PT 3 times a week 1/2 hour; doing better can walk with walker about 100 feet then has to rest by sitting down on walker, then I go pick her up in wheelchair. Not much MRR w**k as of yet and I waited all day for the white glove ispection and they never came. Floor is still covered with plastic and brown paper now it has lots of lines and squiggles in some places not pencil but BIG BLACK INK indellable thats the ones that will stay. The pencil can be moved and in some places will be.

I sometimes have time to talk to youll' but running a small business and at the same time taking care of Kathy and running the house well it does get hard at times to get youse in to the puter. Thank the big man upstairs for all the help that HE has given and thank all of you for your help.

Boy, good thing this place is open 24 hours...  I just got back from the office.  Why do I always set my deadlines for Fridays?

Any pie left?
