Morning, Zoe - I'll have some breakfast like what Jeff has there, please. Looks yummy!
Boy, am I behind on the posts - see what a couple of days will do! I'll try to catch up tonight some more, but I know I've probably missed something important, so my apologies.
Good to hear from Ed - hope you get your email and/or 'puter problems fixed soon.
Tuesday was hectic (non-stop with clients/crises from noon until about 4). Yesterday, mercifully, was better. Luckily, He gives me strength for the days...
Inch, that Air Guard unit is based out of Lambert Field (St. Louis' airport), unless they've moved since I was living in that area 40 or so years ago. In fact, our Air Explorer squadron (part of Scouting, but for older boys/young men) met in one of their buildings, and we got on one occasion to go up into the tower (which was later moved to a newer tower building). But as you can guess, that was way before 9-11 and all the security tightening. It was pretty neat to get to watch them working. Also, our squadron met in the pilots' briefing room on the second floor of the MO ANG main building. Back then, they were flying Phantom F-4's (early 1960's). But Mike, I'm about 150 miles south and east of St. Louis.
Did an inventory of my MRR books/booklets (Kalmbach and a few others), and was surprised to find that I have over 50(!). I do have 2 or 3 where I have different editions of the same booklet (tricky devils at Kalmbach's marketing fooled me with different covers and changing the insides some ). I was doing that so our in-town LHS won't duplicate too many of what I have the next time he orders books from Kalmbach. (tee hee)
Got the oil changed and fluids in the car checked yesterday after work (was a bit over the time but probably under the mileage recommendations). But this morning, I was smelling some kind of hot smell as I got out of the car at work, so will need to have a look under the hood to see if I can figure what I'm smelling.
Not much progress on the MRR'ing stuff otherwise. Kind of stalled currently.
Guess that means I must be about ready for some vacation time (suppose I should turn in my request for the days off, huh?). Next Monday my co-worker who helps me cover crisis stuff gets back.
Well, better get going; work awaits. (, sorry 'bout that, Paul!)
Blessings on the rest of your week,
Jim in Cape Girardeau

We spent last evening at the visitation for Jan, that was tough for us. The family seemed to be doing ok. Her youngest Abby, is having a hard time, she graduates high school tomorrow night without her mom. Jan did get to find out her son and his wife was going to have a boy this fall. He'll be named Fredrick Kuhn the 5'Th, and her oldest Shelby, is expecting their 2'nd.
Well enough of the sad news on to other things.
DICK,, been there done that, but it wasn't me that left the water running, grandkid playing.

Just after David made his weather report this morning a big storm blew through and knocked out the power. It didn't come back on until about 3 pm. At 3:35 a really big storm came through. It was the biggest storm we've had here since Rita blew through. We had winds in excess of 70 mph! Trees were blown down all over and power was knocked out throughout most of the Parish. My father is a bus driver for the army base here. He was bringing a bus load of troops from Alexandria when the storm hit. The wind blew his bus into the other lane. These things are the size of Greyhounds! massive vehicles, the wind was pushing them around like kids toys.
Early Evening Gang: I'm in early tonight. We had a bit more rain this morning but not as much as those east of us. Ft. Worth/Dallas really got hit again. Mary Ann and I went down to the creek to check the crossing. It was as I feared. The crossing is filled again with mud and trash and all the rock that I put in to widen the crossing is gone down stream. Well I ws looking for something to do. I'll have to find a source for the rock. I'll check with some of the builders in the area and see if I can haul off the rock rubble from there construction.
One of my friends is having a little MMRRing seasion Saturday night. I may take my new ( some time ago ) BLI heavy mike over since he has DCC. I haven't run it since I got it around the first of the year so I'll see what I bought.
So Fergie is trying to corner the 2-10-2 market. We'll see about that. OOps mary Ann was looking over my shoulder. She says " He can have it. " Dang!!
Well I guess I'll head out and see what else is happening.
So long
OOOops! I think my remark about Big Boy locomotives may have been a bit on the offensive side to our good friend and UP RR modeler, Hoople. My appologies, Hoople. Keep on enjoying your UPRR and have fun. I really intended to express my frustrations with manufacturers that continue to make replicas of the same locomotives, time after time. Hope you understand.
Well, I've been busy tidying up the layout room. An operating session is schedule for tomorrow night. So if any of you diners are in the area (middle of nowhere), feel free to stop in. Actually, it's three layouts with an ICRR layout and a UPRR layout (yes, another UPRR fan, Hoople) operated by nearby friends being the others.
Happy Model Railroading

It was really wierd when I went to the mrr home page I was logged as me then I went to the forums as something schmt or similar so I went back to the home page then to the forums then I went as jfugate. then I went ot the mrr homepage again and logged out then logged in came back a th shcmit guy then don z then I went to view the diner while under someone elses account and when the thread came up I was logged in as me!.
Mornin' all!
Just swingin' by to say hey!
Good morning..... Oatmeal & OJ here.
Congrats, Dick, on the healthy breakfast. Even Ryan says he's on a diet.
Der, I really like the prairie scene.
Hello Paul ....... is an Ark under constuction in Texas yet? Kinda wet there. It's been mostly dry here for weeks, but looks like rain is on the way.
Hoople, JR, and others commented on the BLI Big Boy. I feel like yawning at BLI's announcement. How many Big Boys are out there now? Actually, I have two old Rivarossi Big Boys myself. I've heard good stuff about the Trix Big Boys.
JR mentioned the BLI New Haven locomotive. Good news to me is not that engine, but the fact BLI is producing models other than a few favorites such as the Big Boy. I'd like to see a quality (BLI, Herritage, etc.) NP 4-6-6-4 and CB&Q 4-8-4. While available, I should get one of those Herritage 2-10-2's either CB&Q or C&S.
It's been noted that all former CNR 2-10-2's are now in Nova Scotia on Fergie's railroad. Dick mentioned 2-10-4's. Burlington's 2-10-4 would be my choice.
Small layouts, however, need small engines. I have a few of those, and my CB&Q 2-6-2 is my favorite.
Enough rambling. Time to haul out of here.
Happy model railroading.
Good morning folks, I'll have a bowl of cerial, ED's OJ ( tall glass please ) a centrum silver multi vitamin, an 81 mg aspirin, strawberries and bluberries on the cerial, skim milk please Zoe, Hey, that's you you stay healthy doggone it ...stop laughing Fergie, wait 'til your 68 young stud.
Another beautiful day here, 65F, DP of 49F, nice warm dry air under crystal clear blue skies. ED, are you sure you don't want to come north for the Summer????
FERGIE: I hear that you now own ALL the 2-10-2's in Canada, is that true??? Have you thought about going to SUPER POWER yet and getting a 2-10-4 ?????
J.R. : Enjoy today's weather, we have a back door cold front coming at us later today, courtesy of John, Luc and Fergie!! Wherever the battlefront sets up between the two weather fronts, it will be very nasty, I hope that it is NYC...Steinbrenner is livid as the Yankees are now tied for last place !!! YES !!!!
ED/JP: Can you believe it !!! First place in the East 12 1/2 games!!! And even more surprising, the Yankees are tied for last place at 14 1/2 games out of first place. Wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall of Steinbrenner's office when he's on the phone talking with to his managerial staff?
MIKE: Have you ever left the soaker/drip hose ON all night by mistake in the freshly rototilled garden, then stepped out into the garden the next day? whoooosh, where are my shoes ...LOL
CHUCK/KATHY: ALERT, ALERT, there is going to be a "white glove" inspection of your newly cleaned train room this morning at 10 am, better shape up quickly Chuck!!!
CAPE JIM: Isn't it time for another trip to the LHS for you? With Fergie cornering the market on 2-10-2's , I would shoot for the 2-10-4 market before he sets his sights on those also. Remember, the Canadian dollar is rising fast against the dollar, so his purchasing power is increasing weekly.

Almost bedtime, thought I would drop in for a last drink of cold Mango/Orange cooler.
ED/JP : Another great pitching performance from the Red Sox starters, and the relief pitchers are doing a great job also. They beat Cleveland again 4-2, Beckett looked real good coming back from finger injury, and John Lester is ready to come back from DL, he pitched a great game in AAA tonight.
ED, have you tried going into TOOLS, ACCOUNTS, and delete your former account, and then add your mail account back new again. I had a similar problem a while back and this fixed the problem.
HOOPLE: Good news for those who model the UP, but for others, we can't use a BigBOY unless we have a generic layout, or just want to collect one. Big Boys never ran in New England, just 2-6-6-2's and 2-10-2 and 2-10-4's I believe in Vermont.
PAUL: Nope, we don't need the rain either, all the reservoirs here are full after all the snows and rains from February through April, and 3" two weeks ago. We have been watching the flooding in Texas and the rescues of those who still try to cross deep water flowing fast.
See you guys for breakfast.
Evening Gang: Not much doing here. We got another 3/4 inch of rain today. I don't think we'll besending any out to you all. When we get it we keep it. Sorry. I did get out to the shop and got the workbench cleared off so I could work on the trucks for my 4" scale gondola trucks. The first pair I looked at only needed some metal straightened up. The first truck I looked at needs some repaifr on one of the journal boxes. I hadn't looked at the last truck yet so don't know what it will need if anything. At least it's model railroading.
Inch: I'm sorry ot hear about Jan. At least she had a good time with family and friends and was not in pain when she went. That is a peasefull way to go.
Duke: those are great photos of the Berk.
Ed it is good to hear from you. I'm like you with the inerworkings of a computer. At least you figured out how to post photos. I'll get to it one of these days.
Well I'm going to head out now.
Good Night All
Dick:
Conway Scenic RR for that 5 hour ride through the White Mountains behind that 1921 yard goat 0-6-0 made in Montreal for the Grand Trunk RR.
csxguy: Back. I can’t remember right just how big the old CS got, but although it’s locked, it’s not barred, so maybe someone could go there, dust off a window, and peek at the last page?
Garry:
I'll have some T.H. coffee. Thanks, der!
Mike: Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Jan’s family in this time of grief. Glad she had that last family day.
Ed: Good to see you again. You can keep the humidity, but we could do with a bit of your warmth.
I’m done. Time for that snack, thanks PC, http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/jeffrey-wimberly/steaklobster.jpg then bed. No mrr today, but doctor visit, and two meetings, one on the Heritage Society, and the other to help plan the day for the visit of our Lieutenant Governor. (Not sure what to say as guidance for the US types on that one, the LG represents the Head of State (Her Majesty Quenn Elizabeth II) in Nova Scotia.) The LG is visiting Sheet Harbour on July 7th.
Goodnight all and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.

Good evening All,
Another Big Boy is ok Hoople but the real news was the BLI New Haven I-5 in hybrid or brass. I've had one on order since the announcement and at last word, it's due in July. Previously available only in brass at silly prices I've wanted one since I first saw the pics years ago. Probably don't remember them as the Shoreline went all diesel by '48 and i arrived a year later, but seems my old silver bullet was a real influence.
Good to see Duke, Ed and CSX drop back in. Wonder what ever became of our Brit friends?
Lots of w..k again today as we crank it up to reach Lime Rock.
Jerry - I use the Testors liquid cement most of the time, the Tenax 7R (Jim) when i join parts already cut and fit and can't have slop or beds showing. The other stuff I'm talking about is the Testors clear parts cement which comes out milk white but dries crystal clear and shiny. It doesn't matter if some glue gets on windows as it dries without crazying the glass, and it also has enough surface tension that (at least in Horribly Oversize scale) you can make a window pane by putting the back end of a small paint brush in a drop of the stuff and pulling around the frame much like you make bubbles with a bubble blower.
Bob - if i don't keep busy I'll just get bored but yeah, sometimes it's all a bit much. The train stuff is a labor of love though and I don't mind the extra hours at the museum or in the shop for the museum. Still have a bit of time to spend before the sandman comes so back to it (more weathering I think). CUL, J.R.
I have been sitting in the back corner booth and would like to let those that have lost someone know that I understand the pain and am there with you. I lost a very good friend from Del in Nov of 05 and a riding friend about a week after that and the people in the CS at the time will remember. I also lost my dad on Mar 15 of this year. I haven't said anything but I would like to let all of you know that I have been thinking of you.

Good evening everyone.....had to cut the grass today, we have a backdoor cold front moving south from the Maritime Provinces and this might give us a spell of showery weather from Thursday through next Monday, and the grass was already 4" tall in most locations.
The pool is now clean and temp is at 72F, so I will be jumping in real soon.
GARRY: Yup, FERGIE has FOUR (4) of those 2-10-2's, he has "cornered" the Canadian Markets on the locomotives. I guess he needs that power to haul all those lobsters, fish and scallops to the Diner.
CSXguy: Welcome back. The old Coffee Shop was so big in data size that the TRAIN.COM computer guys said they would archive it and we could start a new one for the New Year. So, as Australia sees the New Year first, we elected OZ JIM to open the new Coffee Shop, which we jointly named Elliot's Diner for the original founder.
DUKE: There is NOTHING better than seeing a Berkshire under steam. I only wish they had saved one here in the Northeast for demos. The RR people here in the northeast had a complete lack of foresight.
MIKE: I know JUST what you mean!! I was sitting on the deck when two Warthogs came over my house at TREE TOP level. Even the chipmonks ran for cover.
There's the supper bell, see you guys later
I'll have the steak and lobster.
Hey Duke, nice to see you again.
Inch: Sorry to hear about Jan. Hope the family is doing OK.
Hey Dick..........Here you go!!!!!
Nothing like a good look'n BERK
Enjoy
Good afternoon Coffee Clubbers,
Just a quick one to say that I'm still with you in spirit, even if I can't post from home. I'm more or less keeping up with your doings, and I can read the thread.
Dick - no, the problem isn't my ISP. I suspect it's something messed up with settings, but way beyond my debugging level. Acts like a popup blocker (which I don't have) preventing me from getting to logon screens. I just need to get my butt in gear, unplug the computer, and take it in to town to see a computer Dr. I've just been too busy being " retarded" to do that. It's bad enough to bug me, but not bad enough to make me do something. I come to town every few days and rent a computer to login on, like I'm doing now.
We were out at the orange grove today doing routine maintenance. I don't need a weather forecast to tell you that it was hot, very hot, and humid to boot.
Best regards
Ed
BTW... if anyone is interested in how auto racks were loaded in the 1970's I posted some pictures I took back then in the Prototype info categroy in the loading autoracks thread.
