Morning
Jeff- having power pack trouble. The only way to get the trains to go is to have the thing at full bore. the track is spotless, wires are in the right spot, only one engine is on the track, 3-4 cars coupled to the engine, no heavy weight cars. The train does not move untill the throttle is at 80% and it moves like it's at 25%. I know there is nothing wrong with the engine. I'm thinking of bringing it to the GFMRRC to see if they can help. and yes I made sure the power button was on.
BWT- if anyone knows how to fix power packs please email me or post it.
Thanks

Sorry, I didn't mean to take so long to get back to you all. Progress is being made, but time is more the problem. I've got plenty of inspiration now, that's for sure!
I've been working primarily on the interchange area and it's myriad of trackwork. I started with a code 70 three way turnout and began working from there, but I ran into some big problems. I could have solved them, but it would have set me back months, so I abandoned that and moved to plan B. The original plan called for the class 1 to be code 70 rail and the shortline to be code 55. Now I'm doing the whole thing in code 55 instead. It's way easier anyways. I'll post some pics at the end of this weekend. I ought to have most of the interchange done by then.
BTW, both of you are coming along very well on your layouts! You two ae both part of that inspiration I was talking about earlier.

Good evening to anyone still awake...first time in Diner today...yup, another busy day. Ordered the Power Supply for son #2's PC that got taken-out by lightening, also more RAM, he only had 256mb and wondered why things were hanging too much. Then it was up in the gardens to rototill for the next 2 hours until lunch. The afternoon was spent doing some maintenance and sealing all the micro cracks in the driveway that developed over the winter.
RYAN: Easier day today, tomorrow it is going to shower all day, so I have plenty of mags to read including the latest TRAIN and MRR issues. Then, if I get time, son #2 still has TWO more PC's down from the lightening strike, the wife has some kind of a wheel barrow that needs assemby also. Ohh, and I need to learn all the new features of Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 too. Whoever said that I would be BORED in retirement must be one lazy individual.
Happy Birthday Monique !!! I hear that you are receiving something special today. shhhhhhhhhhhhhh
GARRY: That is one nice layout!!! Can you give us a shot from elevation to show more of your layout?
ED: What a game Shilling pitched...as you probably know, he missed a no-hitter in the last of the 9th with 2 outs!!! Schilling waved off a call from Veritek for a slider and threw an outside fastball instead. And listen to this, the last time this happened was when Padro was with the Red Sox, and he missed his no-hitter by waving off the last pitch call by Veritek.....you would think they would learn.
LISTEN TO THIS ONE !!! The news at 11pm just had a follow-up story about the vandalizing of flags off the graves of vets. Everyone had "assumed" that it was done by teenagers with too much time on their hands...but the culprits have been found, and they have FOUR (4) legs!!!! That's right...FOUR legs. Some trees that were causing damage to grave sites were being cut down, and low and behold several flags were found in holes in the tree, placed there by squirrels for nesting!!. Some people failed to believe it until a caretaker cutting grass saw a flag on the ground being ( what he thought ) blown by the wind. As he tried to retrieve the flag he saw a squirrel making off with the flag...it made TV news !!! Now the "doubting Thomas's believe!!
MRR UPDATE: The mailman delivered the new manual for my Wireless NCE as well as a new PROM that I need to install, so that is another project for tomorrow if I get the time.
JEFF: It's too bad that more kids in High School don't have friends like you around Jeff to help them see the mistake they are making by dropping out. Having been a manager in the electronics field for the last 20 years before I retired, I have seen some very sad situations with young men applying for jobs. The spelling was 3rd grade level, forget math, and they dressed for the interview like they just got out of bed. No GED and No High School Diploma = NO HIRE many, many times, very sad.
Time to hit the sack, see you guys for breakfast, whose cooking ?
Evenin', Chloe - I'll have a cup of coffee with a slice of that apple pie and some vanilla ice cream on top, please!

Hey, Ryan, that sounds like you're talking about my physique after one of PC's all-you-can-eat breakfast bars - careful there!
Dave, Jeff gave you some good advice (hint, hint...)! Try to stay out of trouble for a while, okay?
Colby - I guess I shouldn't tell you that our schools down here in Missouri have been off for about two weeks so far, should I? Good that you're about to be off for the summer - do you usually have very many snow days off there?
Paul - from the past several days of w**k, it's getting hard to tell if you're retarded or not. You did retire, right? Well, at least you're getting a bunch of the chores around the farm done.
I was just wondering - maybe all the big locos that Fergie's been getting are so his steam locos don't think the diesels are about to take over the MESS(tm)? Second mainline, huh? What projects are you taking on this sea voyage, by the way?
Didn't look like the Cardinals did very good at all tonight. Here I thought they were going to be doing better (not for long, apparently)... Hopefully, they'll snap out of it really soon.
Stopped by our used CD store and got a couple of CDs (about $8 and $6 for each of 'em). Once I buy two more, I'll have my card filled and get another CD for free. Pretty good deal, though they don't always have the ones I want every time I go in to check. Probably around 2/3rds of my CD collection came from that place. Good way to stretch the dollars!
Time for me to head home and work on sawing some for the night. See you folks in the morning!
Blessings and a good night's rest,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Evening Gang: Today went pretty well. We went to see our lawyer this morning. He introduced us to his nephew to handle our little problems. Our lawyer is Jack Borden. He's only 98 years young and still practicing. Today was the first day of his 71st year in practice. He's known Mary Ann since she was born and her fathers family and her mothers family. He is full of stories and when we visit him we end up listening to his stories for hours. It's a good thing that he dosen't charge us by the hour. I've known him for 37 years since Mary Ann and I got married. He hasn't changed a bit in that time. He's quite a guy. One of the things we talked to his nephew about was the frac pit that the drilling company hasn't filled up yet. They said they wanted to use it for some more wells. In 2 years they haven't even been out to check it to see if it was still there. This pit covers almost 5 acres and is lined with black plastic. Anyway he told us to call the Texas Railroad Comimision. We did and 2 hours later the inspector was at the pit. He said that it should have been covered up after 1 year. After that they would have had to get a permit for it. The drilling company is going to get a letter to fill it or permit it. Guess who is going to fight the permit?
I got over to the track for a little while. They are putting in another switch to add some more sidings for storing diesels during the meet. The meet starts Wednesday and runs through Saturday. Sunday is a pack up and head home day.
Ryan: I'll give it a try soon.
Jeff: That's a good story. My son teaches drop outs. I'll show it to him.
Well Mary Ann is in bed so I'll join her.
Good Night All

This is for those who may be thinking about dropping out of school.
About nine years ago, a friend of mine told me he was going to drop out of school (10th grade) and land himself an easy job making big money and he'd have fancy cars and lots of women and be able to party all the time. I looked him straight in the eye, backed him up against a wall and told him "No, you won't! You won't do any of those things. I'll tell you what you'll do. You'll find out that you shot yourself in the foot. The employers with the good paying jobs will take one look at your educational background, see that you're a drop-out and show you the door. Oh, you'll get a job, some little job that a drop-out can get. Maybe scraping off trays at a cafeteria or sweeping the floor at McDonalds or scrubbing toilets in expensive hotels. Then the boss man is going to come around at the end of the day to see how you've done and he's going to say oh, you missed a spot and there's another spot over there, and you didn't get this spot. You'll want to grab him and pound his face in. Instead, you're going to suck all that pain back down inside and you're going to scrub those spots, until they're shiny clean. And on Friday you'll go pick up your paycheck and you'll hang onto that job like it's gold, because when you can't get anything else, that kind of job is gold! And if you can do that, you can be the president of Chase Manhatten, own multi-national corporations, if you can do that. Most people can't do it! How do I know? I've been there! Stay in school, give yourself a fighting chance and you just might be able to make your dreams come true.". He decided to stay in school and went on to college. He's now pretty well off and is studying to become a radiologist at a major university. Know what he says is the secret of his success? A friend who knew what he was talking about threw him against a wall and talked some sense into him.
I've been workin' on the railroad!
The baggage car was made from a Rivarossi car. CB&Q made 60 such cars in 1950 in their Nebraska shops. 20 painted silver and 40 painted traditional green. (They may have decided on two color schemes to help future model railroaders have variety in their train consists.)
My baggage car has 8 foot doors on left of each side, roof vents, body mounted kadee couplers, Tenshodo trucks, extra weights, and wire grab irons.
Colby may like the old MEC box car.
Ryan. Glad you appreciated the pet story.

Good afternoon folks!
Monique's birthday is Sunday June 10th Happy Birthday Monique!
Dance lessons are now at the intermediate level and we learned the trail and the stutter step, in addition we practiced the belly roll and all the other previous steps we learned. Great fun and exercise too!
I lost another 5 ½ lbs on the diet this week. Yippee!!!!
Going to celebrate Monique's BD this weekend, she wants to go to the Y and hang out at the pool on Sunday after church.
What you all doing this weekend?
Garry, your story is amazing and heartfelt at the same time. Dogs are truly a human's best friend, and they do look out for each other too. Great story! So sorry that Max got hit though, that must have been rough! At our old house in New Orleans we would bury our animals in the back yard; we had a small pet cemetery in the southeast corner where Fluffy (rabbit), Tiger (cat), and Lucky (bird) are all still laid to rest. Of course the people we sold the house to have no idea that these sites exist.
Paul, live steam meet this weekend sounds like fun. Still waiting on some photos from the last one...

Dick, when you get a chance to take a breath?
Dave, good luck with the diet soda thing. I switched to Coke Zero and Sprite Zero, both taste better to me. But I only drink one a day at the most, the rest of the day I drink plain ole water.
Jeff, now that is one funny story! Tell Train Master Dave to heal up and take a breather!
Mike, cute story about the kittens born during the slumber in your bed!
Attaboy, very interesting article about NS plans for that super corridor, and thanks for sharing it with us.

What a beautiful morning! God is so cool!
Time for breakfast!
Hook me up!
Looks like we might get a touch of rain today to water the flowers but the weekend looks PERFECT!
So what's going on with you all?
Good Morning All!
Well not much on the go. I got the garden planted. the place cleaned up and we finally set sail yesterday. Always in a rush to gfet back onboard and when it's time to go home always in a rush to tidy up the paper work!
Dick: I have a C&O Texas, Great engine but i can't see a need for a second one. I'm still looking at the NP S4 4-8-4 but I'll wait until they're on the market and the reviews are in. Hate to say it but I'm hitting Loco saturation and will definately have to install a second main line that will have no less than 30" curves with no dips and hummocks (Bo-o-o-ring) The only way I'll be able to haul my Pullmans.
We'll be out until July 4th when we will be back in Halifax. I have about four or five MR kit's to build including a Erie Steam Shovel so at least I will be busy in my off time.

Cool. and the best part is that people from Portland who want 2 go 2 the fryburge fair don't have to drive. Boston poeple could also go the fair via train using the DownEaster to get to portland.

Good evening everybody.
Thanks to those who expressed understanding regarding Skeekie, our oldest cat that died. The other cat (Little Kitten) is Skeekie's twelve year old kitten. She's always been with Skeekie. Now, Little kitten seems lost as she goes aroung the house meowing for her mother. We'll just remember the good stuff about Skeekie and move on to other experiences.
I'm making a Burlington baggage car at present. CB&Q manufactured 60 smooth sided, lightweight baggage cars at its shops in Nebraska in 1950. Mine should look like one of those. I used a Rivarossi baggage car to start with. I should be done with it tomorrow.
Good News about possible opening of the rail line in Maine, Colby!
Jeff.......... Continue keeping Dave out of trouble there in Louisiana!
Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts and experiences.
Bye.
Jeff that's good advice. Dave take note, don't get to cocky. Things have a way of catching up with you.
No MRRing to day unless you count showing a friend how to make the corragated metal siding that I do. Terry and Ron had just quit for the day when I got over there. Good timing I guess.
Time to shove off.
Boy do I ache.
Good evening everyone, I see that Jeff cooked that steak that was on on Dave's lip for a while this morning. Was pretty cold this morning, got down to 45F before sun-up. Today it was cut the grass everywhere, all the rains from the TS's has the grass knee high to an elephant again. The RHUBARB is now ready for picking, so Strawberry-Rhubarb pie is on the menus, topped with French Vanilla ice cream.

Well I got the creek crossing cleaned out again. I didn't do anything to the far side since it was usable and I didn't want to make it muddy. I do need to trim the brush on both sides. Right now I'm taking a break before I go over to the track. Even with a tractor with a loader it was hard w**k.
