Mornin' everybody —
PM RailfanEd: Awesome video of Bowser! Kinda makes what i do in 3d printing/resin molding pretty insignificant ! I had the occasion to speak with Mr. English a few years back. Man, what a guy!
Glad you liked it. I remember being at Bowser and getting the "dime tour" back in the late '90s. Yes, they're good folks. I've made several orders where Lee personally picked through "stuff" to find what I needed. Most people wouldn't have bothered, I'm sure.
Douglas, stop and think about the possibilities we have today with both ink printing, resin printing, laser cutting, etc, etc. that we can do right on our bench top! Imagine telling someone in 1960 we would be doing full color prints (my printer will do 16 x 22 beautiful, glossy prints) several differend additive manufacturing machines and even CNC mini-mills all while sitting in our shorts sipping a beverage! Amazing when you consider...
I like your "busy" workshop, Kevin. Mine has that "lived-in" look too. I probably average about 1800 hours a year sitting at the bench, loving every minute
I'd like to see LION and Ken come around more often Anybody else MIA?
I ran trains tonight while still trying to get used to my new Digitrax DT602 throttle. So far that's an uphill battle. I uploaded a firmware update that fixed some problems but raised others
I like the vintage Brit Railway films — like this one:
Keeping the permanent way all ship-shape! I learned a lot about British railway design. I've never seen an up-close demonstration of BullHead rail.
Cheers, Ed
Good morning.
Rise and shine it's Coffee Time! I have quite a bit of reading to catch up on here.
It's either feast or famine.
So many plumbing problems around the building I had to put in a four-day weekend. The place is a nice updated building but some of the fixtures still left in the units are from the 1970s. When they go if they go.
Those things are Rusty where they fasten under the sink. The nuts have to be cut out with an industrial Diamond Dremel bit and garbage disposals aren't getting any lighter Crawling under the sinks I have a few kinks in my back
I've been getting really enthralled with the layout this winter so all my free time has been spent on that. I'm really making some Headway
Season greetings! I missed you guys
I went to the table and drew a Christmas card for ya.
Happy Holidays
TF
Good morning, diners! Only three days until ...
I'll have bacon, eggs, and black coffee this morning.
TF, I've installed only one sink, faucet, and disposal -- in my own kitchen years ago. After that nightmare, I swore I would never do it again. My back was in bad shape for months afterward.
My cousin was working under his sink when his wrench slipped and dropped onto his eye, with the result that he lost vision in that eye. He is now a big advocate of wearing safety glasses for even minor repairs. He also inspired me that now when I cut my lawn, I wear safety glasses. It should have been common sense for me all those years, but I just didn't think about it.
I don't seem to sleep real well when not in my own bed. It must be another sign of old age. The last grandchild is doing very well.
Kevin, I'm envious of anyone having a work area like that. My layout is in a guest bedroom, and my work area is out in a backyard shed that is not usuable for four winter months.
Ed, I also miss posts from Lion, Ken, and others. I'm sure Lion's busy with monastery business.
David, I'll second what others have said -- you've been a great source of neat videos while the diner is parked in England. Thanks.
Douglas, do you have any pictures of your resin and 3D printed projects? My son-in-law has given me some 3D printed things for the layout, but lately he is too busy to do much of that for me.
JR, when there aren't many races going on, what keeps you busy at work? Are the racing circuits planning on getting back to normal anytime soon?
Ed, I forgot to thank you for the donuts! The donuts served after church were my only ones I could eat each week, and now with virtual church, I don't get my weekly fix of glazed donuts.
Garry, I enjoyed your trains crossing the bridge.
Mike, good luck with the Front Range kits. It sounds like a lot of work.
I'm working on a new layout hotel. It's small, but lots of windows. I always have a difficult time getting all the windows cut out straight and level. I guess the challenge is part of the attraction.
For all the other diners I didn't mention, I enjoy reading your posts, even if I don't comment on them. This is a great place to relax.

Good morning all, I seen a weather report clip on FB this morning, just had to bring it in here, for Kevin.
Falling iguanas' ? Look out!
https://news.sky.com/story/falling-iguanas-forecast-in-miami-weather-report-12169952
Sinks can be tough, especially if your replacing just the faucet assembly.
With kitchen sinks, I usually remove the whole sink. Much easier to put it all together, and reinstall.
I have nothing that pertains to our current location. The videos have been interesting.
My favorite American railroad, the Wisconsin Central, did own a line in England, the English, Welsh & Scottish. EWS.

Good morning, everybody .
Coffee and a pecan roll please.
John York 1 said his cousin is a big advocate of wearing safety glasses even for small projects because he had the accident John described which caused loss of vision in one eye.
Everybody should think about that. ..... Keep your eyes protected while working with tools for your model railroad projects !!!!
John York 1 .... Thanks for saying that as well as thanks for your other thoughtful remarks. Thanks for commening on my short video.
John was talking to Ed about Sunday morning donuts, too. I normally said I was going to donuts on Sunday morning as we went to church as if the donuts were the most important part of attending. Kidding of course.
Ed ... Thank you for yesterday's donuts. I had one with powdered sugar, and it was yummy.
David ..... Thanks again for all the videos although I have not had time to watch all of them yet.
Lion ? ..... As others have said, we hope he can return to the Diner soon.
Today , we will make a trip to Kroger in Murray (30 miles southwest of us) for groceries. We have been doing this all year once every 2 or 3 weeks. We place an order from home with the computer. Then we drive to Kroger at a scheduled time. They bring out our order to our vehicle and load it in the back. They wear masks and keep a distance from us as we remain seated.
Smile !!!!!! 2020 is nearly over !!!!!!
Everybody ..... Have a good Tuesday.

To the world you are someone. To someone you are the world
I cannot afford the luxury of a negative thought
Good morning again
Well I got caught up on some of my reading here. I need to go all the way back to Thursday and that may take a while. I've never been a very quick reader
I miss the Lions posts as well and Ken usually always comes in every evening. Hope to see both back in action and hope they are well. I would imagine Brother Lion is extremely busy around Christmas time.
Hope you get those kits figured out Mike I like to scratchbuild and kitbash buildings. But if I could find any of those Red Caboose or Roundhouse wooden kits I really enjoyed in the 70s. I would be extremely happy but the ones I built when I was a kid seem to be very hard to find.
Garry I said it before and I'll say it again. I always love that bridge scene, especially the Fantastic job you did on weathering those cement piers
JR. Cars and Cold. I bet you're busy! I have something for Damien my mechanic to fix. He always squeezes me in because I tip him but he is so busy he told me he cannot get to me till after Christmas. At least it's something that doesn't keep me from going down the road though.
Ed. Thanks for the donuts and all the great videos you shared Do you know how long it's been since I've had a really good donut?
I love the workshop Kevin! I must admit I'm a little envious too. My work bench is the glass table in the dining room Sometimes I work on something for the layout late at night while Judy's sleeping. Sometimes I get tired and leave it a mess when I go to bed. I take my scolding in the morning and say, ...Well... I wasn't done yet and would just make another mess anyway
Mike I completely agree with you about taking the sink out to install whatever you need to, and putting it back in when you're done is the easiest. Unfortunately these stainless steel sinks from the 70s have these little clips that are a pain in the butt and would take longer to remove and put back
John. When you told about your cousin's eye, it made me cringe. I am so sorry that happened to him. My problem is I sweat when I work and my glasses or Goggles fog up so I can't even see what I'm doing. You are right though, if that Dremel ever snagged and slipped out of my hands, that would not be good. I need to go find me some of that anti-fog lens stuff for sure!
Thanks David and everyone else for posting all the good stuff here
mbinsewiI seen a weather report clip on FB this morning, just had to bring it in here, for Kevin. Falling iguanas'? Look out!
I have never actually seen a falling iguana, but I sure have heard enough about them. I had a five footer in my backyard a few weeks ago. He was big enough to set off the motion sensors on the outside security lights. The lights spooked him and he ran away fast.
The damage a couple of iguanas can do to a vegetable garden is horrifying.
gmpullmanI like your "busy" workshop, Kevin. Mine has that "lived-in" look too. I probably average about 1800 hours a year sitting at the bench, loving every minute
Track fiddlerI love the workshop Kevin! I must admit I'm a little envious too.
I am looking very forward to getting back to it. I love sitting at the workbench, nothing does more to clear my mind.
York1Kevin, I'm envious of anyone having a work area like that.
I am not sure that I have told the story of the model building workbench, and what it means to me.
Each night, I would sit and "do homework" with each of the girls for two hours, at that workbench. I have had it for over 20 years, and it it the most expensive piece of furtniture in the house. So usually every night, I had four hours of dad time with my babies.
They would do homework, I would build models, I would help with writing, history, and mathematics. We would talk, and talk, and talk. So many flash cards were gone over and reviewed... if I had a dime for each I am sure I would be a millionaire.
I still have the old collection of math blocks we used to test theory. I will never get rid of those.
Most of my best moments as a dad were at my model building workbench. It is cherished more than anything else I own.
This picture is when my youngest was in her sophomore year. She is hiding under that giant head of thick perfect hair she has.

Living the dream.
TF ... Thank you for your kind remarks regarding my bridge scene.
Hello Railfans!
Holy cow, the day shift! ! Ugh, cant stand this part of the day. And normally i wouldnt be alive and kicking at this time of day except the niece has thrown a timing 'belt' (if it was a chain that wouldnt happen!) on her Honda. Guess whos the mechanic in the family? Yep, me, the daytime sleeper. If i recollect properly (and i usually dont, but...) it seems like this is why i went into puters - so i wouldnt have to work on sarcastic lil cars in the middle of winter!
(Ironic to discover, but computer labs are a/c cooled..... ALL YEAR ROUND! i didnt win anything HUMBUG!)
Kevin)
SeeYou190 I am so sorry to hear this. I have my air conditioner on because it is so hot outside. -Kevin
A/C aye? In the middle of December? Has your journal gone hot box? Could be worse Kevin, lizards could be falling from the sky But then, we dont have lizards here, we have black bears, .... and sturdier umbrellas.
Nice workbench btw, looks like mine... no room to work! The only time 'clutter' is a good thing is when the 'clutter' is trains! I totally agree with Ed, love every minute of it!
Ed) I think about it all the time actually. Some of the things i do now compared to then are just mind bending. Flick of the switch kinda stuff compared to walking in the snow, uphill, .... both ways ! Pretty thankful for it to. Thats what tech is supposed to be used for. The benefit of mankind, not stealing your info or redirecting sales ads, commercials, etc etc.
Makes me wonder what kinda hokus pokus we will have in another 40 years which is about the extent i think of my range. Some of it that we have now like 'operating a train from cell phone', pretty neat idea true, but i cant personally see that was ever needed. Then again im not a millenial, so i can exist without a cell phone in my hand. Its a bee sting in the back of the knee being a traditionalist, huh?
York1 Douglas, do you have any pictures of your resin and 3D printed projects?
Douglas, do you have any pictures of your resin and 3D printed projects?
John) Yes i do. I have a beautiful picture of the plastic scrap pile which is bigger than the parts made pile.... . I dont really have a way to post pictures online, but i can directly email to you if you give me an idea on what youd like to see. There are 3 pictures in the MR Photo Gallery section i posted a couple of weeks ago that you can see now by going there. They should be close to the top of the selections.
And before i go -
David) ive been enjoying the tour of British video railroading you have been posting for us. Something I have always wanted to know.... Why do European railroads use the higher pitched whistles as opposed to more broad ranged American counterparts?
You folks have a good day either at the 'bench' or where ever you can find fun! Ill check back later. Time to go bust a few knuckles.
Cheers!
Douglas
ENGLAND!???
No wonder I could not get in!
I tested positive for CATHAIR-21, but you should have seen the cat after I got done with her!
I still have not gotten my IIS (Web) server running yet, but the mail server is (almost) finished. Apparently our Xerox machine cannot send messages yet. It is supposed to scan a page and e-mail it as a .pdf to the person who wanted it. Now they are coming to my office to do it.
I had some growths removed from my lip and from my ear. The growth on my lip aappeared this summer, and who knows when the ear growth arose.. it may just have been there all of the time, but now that I have hering aids it had to go.

How did I do that time?
Good to see ya! Hope your lip and ear feel better soon
Good evening all. Malaysian Chicken Curry with Jasmin Rice tonite. Bring the beers.
Glad to hear you like the films. Most of what I have posted has been around the North of England. An area of rich heritage.
Ed. I'll try to find some old films.
Douglas. Maybe European Railroads use higher pitched whistles is because of more idiots stand in the way to get a 'better picture'.
Lion. That sounds nasty. Hope everything is okay now.

I sent my daughters a link to the post about the old homework-desk/work-bench.

I enjoyed the safety show Mike. Some of it reminded me of the Mr. Bill show, the only thing missing was OH NO!!! Seriously though, that is some serious stuff. I will be looking for the glasses you mentioned. Thanks
Kevin I love being a dad too. Some of the things my daughters say to me I wouldn't trade for anything in the world
I heard about that coolness coming too Lion. I guess our luck of five Indian summers is coming to an end here soon! Snow predicted for tonight and then dropping down to the teens. We don't need to pay for air conditioning up here like Kevin does in Florida. We get ours for free from our generous Canadian friends eh!
Christmas is coming.
Stay Safe
David you are doing a yeoman's job on the videos this month
Tried to upgrade my Iphone IOS via Itunes. I usually don't do it that way because the download via Itunes is incredibly slow, but I was doing other stuff on the computer. 72 minutes later it tried to update my phone and said it couldn't do it, I would need to reset the phone.
Simply pushing buttons wasn't enough, I had a screen that showed a graphic of connecting to whatever they call their usb connector. Once I did that it had to download something and eventually I got a 4010 error.
Went to error codes and that wasn't listed. Googled it and the links said disable firewalls, antivirus and VPN, did that and it went through the cycle of download, can't do it. There is alway a link to additonal help, which was a link to the earliest screens that didn't address the 4010 error.
The only other suggestion was try a different computer. Installed Itunes on my laptop, which recognized my phone needed reset, but they I was caught in a new loop of downloading software, this phone needs reset, downloading software.
Took it back to the original computer and having done nothing differently, not even rebooting the computer, the reset took and everything is functional. It only burned up 4 hours of my day.

Just when I thought it was going to be another mundane Tuesday a surprise showed up at our front door!
CC_strawberry by Edmund, on Flickr
A very generous and thoughtful Diner participant graced us with this beautiful gift!
Dig in everybody before they're all gone! I already took that huge specimen front-and-center!
You just never know what's going to come along and brighten up your day!
Good thoughts and blessings to all —
Those chocolate covered strawberries look rather appealing Ed Don't mind if I do. Thanks.
The M&M cookies Judy made the other day tasted great warm out of the oven. That night they were hard as a rock and I told her, don't buy that cookie dough anymore.
So we get home from the grocery store last night and I see her open up the bread and put the bread end in the Tupperware with the cookies.
I asked her, what was that all about? She said her grandma told her when the cookies get hard you put a slice of bread in there, then the bread gets hard and the cookies get soft.
Darndest thing I've ever seen, it worked! The cookies are soft tonight and I'm munching them down like that blue monster on channel 2.
I've seen dozens of videos of the UP 4014 until my eyes glazed over, BUT this one sure has some merit!
With all those horses running you'd think it was a Norfolk Southern Thoroughbred promotion! Yes! Turn the sound up
Enjoy, Ed
Good morning all. Toast and tea and marmalade is on the table.

Enough of that.

Good morning
Thanks for the fun videos David, Ed. I especially enjoyed UP 4014. She is familiar to me as a fond memory the day Judy and I went to Saint Paul for a visit.
One of the traditional things we missed this year was to go see the Canadian Pacific Holiday train. Maybe next year.
I guess I'm kinda like a little kid around Christmas time because I think I know what Judy got me for Christmas. Even though I might know, won't at all spoil the surprise. I've been wanting one of these for a lot of years. She's "Long and Black". A bit too spendy to buy one for myself any time soon.
We are going to the grocery store soon before the big snow storm hits, 6 - 9 today. I guess it will be a white Christmas after all
We already made a big grocery haul a few days ago but we need to go to the Good grocery store to stock up on fresh seafood for Christmas Dinner. Lobster, shrimp and king crab
A none traditional Christmas Dinner this year, ...Why not? It's been a non-traditional year.
Have a great day everyone
