Wishing everyone here a Happy New Years and hoping 2021 is a good year for us. I made dinner for the family tonight. Ravioli and tortellini, mushrooms, sausages cooked in the air fryer and a couple different sauces and it all turned out splendidly.

My mail packages arrived super early this morning and I got in addition to a good pair of boots, a a BLI F3 A-unit from their refurbished line. I often don't check what they have on their as so often I don't see anything I want but a few days ago they had exactly what I wanted so I purchased it and much to my surprise, it arrived this morning, after I'd gotten the email that it was shipped on Monday. Works for me! I already have an A-B set so it's neat to have my first, and hopefully not last, of Pennsy diesels to run as multiple units powering a train. When I can join a club again or get a layout running that will be something to look forward too.

Happy New year to Ulrich as well if you are still tuning in.

I sent Ulrich a Christmas greeting and he responded. He asked me not to give away any details, but they are making real progress with their new home plans. They are quite a way past the 'dreaming' stage.

Good evening and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Today was a frustrating day on many fronts, Nuff said, Lawyers will be called next week, never volunteer to be an executor. LOL.

I finally ran my new SW1200RS and it was herky-jerky until I cleaned the wheels just as Jason tells us to do and then it was smooth as silk. After an hour of break in I hooked up 25 cars and away she went like there was nothing attached. I am now curious to see what the little gal can actually pull on the level.

TF, you are a good man for your donation, Because of the covid deal we did not travel or spend nearly as much money as we usually do this year so made an extra-large donation to the food bank before Christmas. We usually give a chunk of change every year but this year more was needed.

I would like to thank you all for the social interaction I enjoy here. I have to sit often as the Arthritis wears me down so a five-minute pit stop here is great for a recharge.

Happy New year to Ulrich as well if you are still tuning in.

I may drop by later as it is still early out West.

Am I Post Hog again?

I had a little blast with my Judy after dinner tonight.

She asked me why do you think you have fictitious friends on your model railroad Forum?

My reply was they are not fictitious.

I told her I've been talking to some of these people for over three years and have gotten to know them through conversation.  These people talk to me and know me more than some of the people in my here and now.  That's why I like the people I know on the model railroad Forum Judy.

That was the end of that conversation.

If I can afford $150 for one dinner, I can afford $150 for those that are less unfortunate

Those who are less unfortunate can fend for themselves.  They should be buying you dinner.

Meanwhile in Florida...

All hell is breaking loose around here.

Our governor decriminilized all fireworks, lifted all Covid-19 restrictions, and encouraged everyone to get out and party like it was 1999.

The neghbiorhood is so loud, and there are hundreds of fireworks exploding everywhere.

We can be really dumb down here... really really dumb.

I remember converting four people that hated mushrooms to loving mushrooms.

My neighbor across the street Dominic had his Brother Joel over one night and he despised mushrooms.

Later on that night when we came in from the porch, he was hovering around the stove picking them out and eating them with a great big smile on his face.

I've always liked Wylie Coyote and always wished he'd beat the Roadrunner on a Saturday morning but he never did.

And then one day you find those canned mushrooms that came in the water were like rubbery junk and a nasty chewing consistency is the reason you always hated mushrooms since you were a kid.

Another day later you find the world's most famous chefs say you never introduce water to a mushroom.  You get them fresh and let them soak up butter and the other ways you saute them.

After that they taste like a million bucks on top of your steakDinner

When they become a third of the size as you started cooking them they're ready

You can't overdo them.  The longer mushrooms cook with a Sprinkle of sugar added at about the 3rd hour they caramelize, the better they are

I usually pick about 5 hours when I do them

Hello fellow conspiritors of Model Railroading enjoyment!

Top of the day to you! I see we have another sunny, and suprisingly warm day here to which im HUMBUGGING at. A mighty 60F on the ticker. I suppose everyones frothing at the gills that today is the last day of this oh-so-memorable year. I give it my best Eeore "woo hoo".

Where i come from when it came to Ginger or Maryann, the answer was always... "Genie".

When anyone asked me Maryanne or Ginger, my answer was Marcia!

-Kevin

Aint she the one with the busted nose? Laugh And no magical powers either. Your missing out here Kevin. She has her own bottle too!

Ed) I read the itenerary, sounds like a purty good trip to me. Never been on a cruise ship (for the obvious reasons and some not so obvious) though i do like boating and being on the water. Notice i said ON the water, not IN it! I dont like NOT being the top of the food chain.

The eye popper for me is starting off on the 20th Century. I expect to see lotsa pics posted on this subject (from your layout ofcourse!). NYC being one of my top 10 favs. Plus, Chi-town. The windy city.... "gimme your tired, your poor.... spare rib'er to the universe. Home of the pig-cycle". And the one main city the PM couldnt get its own tracks too! Chicago - the gateway to U.S. Railroading! You can get to every railroad from here - so its said.

One thing though, if were gonna tote the Diner all over the green side of the country, and have guests tour thru.... we need to clean this place up a bit. Has that "lived in" look. Model Railroaders and Trains magazines everywhere, Railroad hats -n- jackets sprawled over every chair back. The loco pics on the walls need cleaning as do all the large Budd windows (is the diner a Budd car or old varnish? i dont think i ever asked that b4). I mean the place looks like a pack of Railfans live here. LaughLaugh

And if were going on a long tour trip, we need to make sure the beer locker is fully stocked. Anyone called the gas company to get the stove supply tanks filled so we can cook steaks? Do we have enough paper napkins? Do we break out the "brassware" (since were Railfans) or the regular silverware?

TF) Wiley Coyote! YESSSSSS!!  I dont care who you are, that *&%#$ is FUNNY!

WARNER BROTHERS cartoons - enough said!

Well, i spose thats enough steam up yalls skirts for now. Imma go inventory the beer locker. Whistling

See yall later,

Douglas

Those of you who paid 'top dollar' for the crossing will be dining in 'The Queen's Grill'.   Paying a little less will dine in the 'Princess Grill'.  I shall dine in the 'Britannia Club Restaurant'.    Britannia Restaurant for the remainder, unless you dine in the 'King's Restaurant'  self service.

I believe the crossing will be a calm one.

Be on deck at around 01.00  -  01.30   for the laying of a wreath at the point of where  'Titanic' sank.     Cunard White Star do that on every crossing.

Sleep Well.

Just to get us in the mood.Laugh

On a side note, Billy Zane was in Titanic and my kid worked on a movie with him for a week. Billy invited the kid to eat his meals with him in "the stars" tent every day of the shoot. Heard lots of great stories.

I wonder if the Titanic had a gym?

I might be able to tip the steward and get us a place to sit in the skullery for a meal during the crossing. If not — it's hardtack and bilge water

Sounds good, after all, we're railroad men, so that will be a step up.Laugh I did bring my pirate outfit along, hope it is appropriate attire.Pirate

Bear, and LION, of course will have to be caged and stowed below the orlop deck!

Below the orlop deck???!!!
Oh well, as long as we have separate cages, and it’s better than being keelhauled, I suppose!

So with the diner in the hold for the crossing, do we eat in the diner down in the belly of the ship or up where the white table cloths are?

Bear, and LION, of course will have to be caged and stowed below the orlop deck!

Fortunately it will be a super-sonic crossing (QM2 Hovercraft?)

A buddy of mine worked the Great Lakes ore boats for a few summers. His bunk was always right next to the chain locker for the anchor chain. Talk about a sleepless racket!

So be sure to check in at the Southampton Docks before midnight (CST UTC -6) for the grand sailing!

Some of you can take the boat train Cool

Post Hog!

So with the diner in the hold for the crossing, do we eat in the diner down in the belly of the ship or up where the white table cloths are? You did not say what class we were in and I did see Titanic where the hoity toities locked the working stiffs below decks so they couldn't get on the lifeboats.Laugh

Sounds good to me Ed, thanks for doing this.

I told the wife I will give cruise ships one more try so here we go. I am not a mobs of people kind of guy as I would rather be hiking in the Rockies or scuba diving the barrier reef climbing back onboard a fifty-foot sailboat for a rum and coke afterwards.

I have to find out what deck the gym is on see you at dinner.Dinner

Today two of our adult kids have birthdays. They were born exactly two years apart. Now they are 44 and 42.

Ed ... thanks very very much for your willingness to start the January Diner .

The IC City  of New Orleans was the daytime train. The overnight train (The Panama Limited)  with all Pullman sleepers was a luxury train, and some prople might prefer it.
