Happy Evening Diners.

Finished up my meetings in Tampa over the last two days... working late to catch up on emails now.

Working late is not as bad with Jambalaya from Tibby's! Thank you Uber-Eats!

Mmm... looks good! Who here likes bluegrass music? I play guitar, and Wabash Cannonball is a favorite. I am working on playing it with my model RR friends who play Bass and Guitar. I'll post it after we record.

Have a good evening!

Good evening, everybody

moelarrycurly4

well we have already had one tornado just to the west of my house and we are on standby at the hospital. Appears lots of damage. Ugh.

MLC .... It has been stormy here too, but no tornados.

Ray .... I like the photos of the Finger Lakes train you posted.

Kevin .... Maybe it tasted good, but it looks like a dog upchucked into a paper plate.

Cheers.

Garry!! Be nice!!

Seriously, I have to admit that I had a similar but not quite so extreme reaction but I did get a great laugh out of your comment. I know you didn't mean to offend. I hope Kevin doesn't take it the wrong way.

If I were doing the dish it would look much different. How about some chunks of green and red peppers and onions, or maybe some bok choy and sliced mushrooms? Lot's more sauce too!

Cheers!!

Gooood evening Upstate New York!!!!!

How is everybody?

I'm could be better I guess.

So I went to pay my phone note and saw that they wanted me to pay over 100 bucks instead of my usual 40, I called their customer service department and got one of the rudest agents on the phone, what had happened was I had been late by just two days, two months in a row so I got two late fees, that was back in February, I called them then and the lady kindly explained I would just have to pay 100 bucks and one of the two fees would be waived, well seems they decided to toss another late fee onto the account so when I paid the amount on the date that the customer service rep agreed would be ok it left the account with the additional late fee that I was told I wouldn't get and it became a past due balance tossing another late fee on and to make it worse today is the due date so now I've got another late fee because I didn't have 100 bucks to give them.

I'm calling tomorrow because had the first rep told me the additional fee would've been added I would've paid it but I was told I only had to pay 100 and that'd be that.

Anyways I'm looking into getting a credit card for just spending like 50 buck a month on with the purpose of building my credit which currently is nonexistent.

The Y finally got back to me! I'm going to be working front desk! I haven't been told my schedule yet though soo...

And I've finally found a suit for prom, I'm planning on wearing a Navy/Light Blue Multistripe Seersucker suit with a coral shirt a navy tie and a pair of boat shoes.

And heres a little nudge to the jukebox,

And heres one for the those with a more classic taste in music,

Perhaps I'll see "her" standing there at prom!?Laugh

Well I'll see you guys around!

Steven, with all due respect, the phone company is not the problem despite however rude one of their agents might have been to you. YOU signed a contract which required YOU to pay certain amounts at a certain time. YOU failed to do that.

Have we learned a lesson here? Pay your bills on time!!!

You say you want to get a credit card so that you can establish a credit rating. Sorry to break the news to you Steven, but you have already established a credit rating, and it says you don't pay your bills on time!

By all means get yourself a credit card, but for Pete's sake pay it off every month!! Let me repeat myself, pay it off every month!! Pay the rest of your bills off every month too, and if you can't afford to pay the bills, then stop using their services!

Sometime soon you will meet somebody with whom you will build a relationship. Eventually that will lead to getting married and that will lead to wanting to own your own home. Your seemingly minor credit misses today might very well come back to haunt you. I will say it again. For Pete's sake wake up and smell the coffee! Pay your bills on time!!

Good Morning All,

Sad news from NZ indeed. Christchurch is still rebuilding from the effects of the last earthquake. When we were on tour, we made friends with a team from there and had a tour of the city and surrounds when we were at their local track. As with most of New Zealand, everyone was friendly no matter what their backround. It breaks my heart to see this.

Just a coffee to go please and I'm off.      Best, J.R.

Laugh Laugh  Good one!  Reminds of the wife's family on facebook, and their never ending food posting photos from resturaunts.  Please! spare me! should I eat it? or did I?

I don't get the fascination with that, but I don't get the fascination over cell phones, either.

In the news last, I forgot where this is at, but lighted street signs, at intersections in the city, like the Do Not Walk signs, are being installed, meant to alert people with phones stuck to their face.

I say forget about it.  It's called natural selection. Pirate

There's a way to post food pictures, and Mr. Steve O has it down.  Now HIS food photos look tasty!

Dave if you had not said it to Steven I would have.

a prob with a lot of people, " how much is it per month?" not how much is it.

Steven, if you don't have the money to pay your phone contract, where are you going to get the $50 a month to pay off a credit card?  As Dave said you do have a credit rating and it is bad, you don't pay.

Don't fall down the credit rabit hole, but I suspect you will be in $30K of debt in a few years on credit cards alone. I hope not, but that is where you are headed. I guy i once worked with , would go from payday loan, to payday loan place to try an outborrow his debts. He bounced checks a McDonald's So his $8 meal cost him at least $58 + his bank fees + his payday loan fee to pay the fees.  Someone finally sent him to jail for stealing $70K.

Its not at all unusual to have companies lie to you over the phone about things.  All I can tell you is that you need to record every single call to anybody where financial matters are discussed.   The companies consider most of these calls to be legal "documents" and as such it works both ways.  Funny how they all of a sudden remember when you say "but my lawyer says...."

Just sayin'

Good morning From the sunny West Coast. Temps are to get into the teens today so I think spring has sprung.

Saw the kid in a TV show last night, I think it was one he worked on last Summer. Still can't get used to having him pop up out of the blue like that. The show was Loudermilk and it's an Amazon Prime production. Amazon pays really well, he likes working for them. His part was screaming profanity and being extremely angry at a performer putting on a show. The complete opposite of his true nature.

Got all the copper tape installed in my Roundhouse for my lights. Saw a You-Tube video on a jig some guy made to hold the LEDs while you solder them. Pretty simple but effective, I need to throw one together. I need to get a new tip for my soldering iron as the one I have isn't the best one for the job.

On the credit scene, my wife's Vet clinic would just pass unpaid bills onto the credit agencies. 20 years later they would get people paying off their bill along with massive late/interest charges because they couldn't get a mortgage to buy a home or credit for something else like starting a business. Bad credit can really screw your life up. I remember one, in particular, was an $8000.00 bill that was somewhere in the neighbourhood of $17000.00 8 years later. A nice trip to Hawaii!

I went on a three month trip around the Pacific Rim once and new I would not be in a position to pay my credit card bill so I put a $3500.00 credit on my credit card and gave my parents an additional $2000.00 and told them to open my bill and pay it if I had spent more than I thought I would. I did and they did.Laugh

We have all our bill dates on our I-Cal 5 days before they are due just in case there is a delay in being able to pay them in case we stay out of town a couple of extra days or something else.. We just get automatic deductions to pay the ones that let us do that as it makes life so much easier.

I am really feeling bummed out with what happened in New Zealand. They often rank as having the highest quality of life in the world and it is evident when you visit there. New Zealand would be my first choice in other countries to live and have often thought I would like to move there. I had some good hikes, river rafting, kayaking and did some flying as well when I was there. I definitely want to go back and will spend at least a couple of months there.

I never understand the rationale of hating someone just because their skin is a different colour. My daughter showed me a study that was done on racism that they were studying in school. The people in the study were all very racist and were put together with people that had the same skin colour. Once skin colour had been removed as the variable, they then preferred to be with people that only had the same hair colour they had over others. They also tested for a variety of other differences, some quite subtle. It was an interesting read. The test was much more complicated than what I describe, but you get the idea.

Reading up on migration and culture through the ages tells you cultures come and go and borders do not stop migration. It is a fool's errand to think otherwise. Violence throughout history has been used to try and alter what is a part of nature itself. It is like trying to hold back the tide.

My own opinion on the subject is, if you are so preoccupied with skin colour and culture that it only leads to hatred, you must have a pretty sheltered, boring life.

Just about time to go to Costco and the electronics shop for my soldering tip and a few other bits and pieces.

All the best to all.

Brent

I hope I didn't leave the impression that my wife had a relapse.  It was her sister, after 10 years, developed a new primary.

The Breaking News CSX derailment in Baltimore  I swear the reporter just showed two workers standing next to a wheel and said "This is what we think is a wheel from the derailed car"  What else would it be?

https://www.wbaltv.com/article/baltimore-train-derailment/26839449

One of the cars landed on the road, but didn't hit any cars.  Looks like stringlining to me over a girder bridge on a curve.

Pop quiz, what do you notice about the lower tracks?

My son, who's first flight to Denver was canceled by the snow, the 2nd by Boeing Max was scheduled for a different flight than his girlfriend yesterday.  She got on the plane for Denver and he waited a couple hours only to be bumped and told they could get him there tomorrow.

The views I seen were from way up in the chopper,  and nothing close.  The only thing I seen is what looks like a commuter trains on the lower track, if that, indeed was the lower track you mean. ?

I'm sure the usually crew over on the Trains side has this all picked apart and analyzed by now.

I've had this stupid back thing that crops up every once and a while, haven't been down to the trains in a couple weeks.  At least it's now, while it's crappy out side.  Wife keeps reminding me on just how many years I pulled, shoveled, crawled on, and troweled concrete.

My TV time is usually PBS stations, as I can't stand regular TV, it's enough of a  struggle to get through a news cast, and all the PBS stations in this area are in "fund raiser" mode.  Lovely.  Watching music performances from has-beens and used-to-be's" lip sink their music.  That should be over soon.

I have my Sirius radio, with classical music, and good'ole Outlaw Country to fill in.

Have a great weekend!

Mike.

Saw a train wreck online in Arizona, 20++ cars blown off a high trestle by the recient winds they have been having.  Has anyone tried the shrink tube with the solder ring inside.? The wire is skinned back about 1/4 inch, the ends shoved together and rolled between your fingers to smooth, the tube is slid down over the cut, and then a heat gun, or hair dryer is used to shrink the tube/melt the solder. In the demo I saw the sales person give (appeared) a good yank, and everything held together. Interesting-----

Thanks for the kind thoughts and prayers regarding the sad events in Christchurch.
Living down in the south west corner of the Pacific, we’ve long had the mindset that really bad things only happen “over there” and that we’re well insulated from such occurrences. Well it only takes a piece of cowardly scum to prove that theory wrong!
Having been listening to the radio yesterday as the news was breaking, I will now admit to being relieved that the death toll was not higher, though that is no comfort those who’ve lost family and friends.

Sorry Bear, I should have extended my sympathies and prayers on my previous post.  The world is full of nut cases.  It's easy to say we have less respect for life, these days, but when you think of just about every war I know of, life has had little value.

Yes there is a "commuter" rail line below the train wreck.  One of the cars fell on the power house that supplies the car barn.  That little white square is the roof.

An employee gave an explanation of how power is converted, that I didn't understand.  He also said that they used to stop short of the overpass, because "things fell off trains"  Where one of the cars landed is where they stopped, so they are going to rethink that.

In the car barn, the second car from the right is a PCC, I think, there was a better view earlier.

The "commuter track" is Baltimore streetcar gauge: 5' - 4.5"

Good evening all.

First, condolences to those affected in CC.

Also, belated condolences to those I failed to mention it too the past sevral days. (I've been buzzing by on the express track too much!)

Zoe - A RBF please. Thanks.

Trainshow - Anyone going to the Kirkland Ohio show this weekend? I will be there tomorrow in a blue NS hoodie and a ball cap. (NS as well possibly? Or some other rail related one.) I will not be there Sunday as I have a prior engagement that day.

W*^k - The new job is going good. He is trying to get me more used to the way the store runs, but most of my time has been in the delivery vehicle(s) running stuff around. I have picked up on a few things, but not where I expect to be yet. (Deliveries are going well though.)

Weather - Cooler today with some rain and wind. Big change after hitting 75F yesterday!

Hope all are well, and all enjoy the day!

Hi Bear,

Sad news. My condolences to you and your countrymen.

We Canadians tend to be naive about these things only happening in other countries too. Unfortunately that's just not true.

Take care,

Hi Steven,

With respect, I don't think you are getting the picture. The problem is not that 'they' added another late fee when they shouldn't have. That is a totally minor issue.

It sounds to me like you don't think you have done anything wrong when you say "I didn't know when the payments were due...". That is not correct. It says to the people who make the decisions on who gets credit that 'this guy can't keep track of his payments'. That means that they will likely have to chase you down in the future and that costs them money. What is worse is that you say you had the money to pay the bills on time.

I'm sorry to say it, but I think you are being a bit naive about this. I suggest you go to your bank, sit down with a loan officer and ask them to explain how to get a good credit rating. If you won't take our word that you are on the verge of potentially messing up your future, maybe you will believe them.

I'm not trying to be nasty Steven. I'm trying to help. This stuff should be taught in school.

Cheers!!

Dave, thanks for the advice, I know that the first two fees are on me, I made an agreement with the company to pay said fees on a set date, even though I paid the fees on the agreed date they added another fee on top of the other two, that's where the problem is.

So again I was late on two payments, got two late fees, was told to pay the fees by a certain date which I did, they then added another fee into the account even though I paid the first two fees in full before the date they set, so I messed up twice AND paid for said mess up.

I now know to pay the bill with the first paycheck of the month, by the 14th.

Anyways, my condolences to those affected by the horrible attack in NZ.

I remember the beginning of this Saga way back when.... You were in the planning of getting this super fancy phone Steven.  More than one person told you to reconsider going into debt over something you don't need..... I was one of those peopleWhistling

Don't get me wrong buddy.  We've all been down your road before.  One day you'll learn the more important things to put your money down on, through life's journey.  It's no fun getting strangled to death by the powers-that-be.

I'm hopeful you'll get it sooner than later, before things get too far out of hand.  I've been down that road before tooZip it!

Be good Steven.     TF

Either the forum or my 'puter is acting up this morning. We shall seeHuh?

Got my booster and second AR planted in the control drawer last night. Still haven't run the bus and drops for the service yard but we'll get there. Funny how the time flies on the layout. What I thought would be a half hour turned into four but I got it sorted. Also need to find out what I did with my 1" standoffs for the second AR board. Maybe I need to do a tidy up after all.

Steven, good advice you're getting. Bottom line is you need to understand what the people who hold the paper on your phone consider an on time payment. We get customers who pay by check and then have to wait a week or more to access the payment as the bank won't release it to us. I guess you have to reread all the fine print in that contract. Hopefully the new job will mean more steady cash flow and you can better plan things. Good luck at the prom. You never know.

Doing more trailer stuff today as it is already in the 40's and the rains have held off this morning.    Catch y'all later, J.R.
