EDIT: Chloe, as I’m the top of the page, could you please make sure that every ones eats and drinks are on me. I just hope I can remember in which “safe place” I left my credit card!!Hmm

Gidday Chloe, it would appear that it’s been a quiet day. I’m still fighting the dreaded lurgy but hope I actually get a full day off tomorrow, so I’ may have time to recharge the batteries.

Brent, I hope you’ve snapped out of your attack of the Black Dog, I too have had a small chunk cut off the side of my face. Surprisingly it would appear that there is no shade under my beard. At least I didn’t have to worry about my good looks cos that’s something I’ve always had a very short supply of, plus once it had healed I just stopped shaving again. Hooray!! I hate shaving!!

I’ve been enjoying the contributions made regarding the Diners current location, it’s far more enjoyable/informative than having the Diner taken to a new location, then parked up the back of a disused industrial spur on the wrong side of the tracks. Thank you, Gentlemen.

I particularly liked the 1940 Paducah Photo. I’m being lazy, so am presuming that the large boiler is for one of the IC’s large 4-8-2 Mountains, and that the small boiler is for one of the IC funky work shop tank locomotives. I’ll happily stand corrected!

And now you know why he chose to live in celibacy.

One fine day in rural Ireland, the bishop decided to visit the most remote of all the parishes to settle complaints about the not so holy lifew of the local priest. When he arrived, a pretty young woman with two cute little kids hanging onto her skirt answered the door, informing him that the minister was out, but expected to be back soon. She offered him a cup of tea to shorten the wait and while she went to fetch the tea, the priest arrived. The bishop immediately began to question him about the matters of complaint, held in for a ,oment and asked him about who those cure little kids were. The priest truthfully replied "They are my brother´s niece and nephew"!

Celibacy can be advantageous!

That's a good one!Laugh

Nowadays I think they actually allow priests to be married, something about trying to increase the ranks in the priesthood.

Some religions allow priests to marry, but not the Catholics.

Found this in a box of MR unbuilt kits and junk.  Looks like it lost a couple roof vents, which are not in the box.  I did this 30 years ago, and I didn't know about gloss paint under decals and the Capitol Ltd was probably never a Harriman, but I didn't care at the time and I'm not losing sleep over it now.  I could have been more generous with the passengers too.

Good morning ....

Bear .... The IC's Paducah shops included a very tall indistrial buildng. That is where boilers were fabricated, and the boilers were built with them standing on end. The boiler of a mountain stanidng on end needed a very tall ceiling over the shop building.

MLC ..... You mentioned Gracey, KY in your recent posts. Gracey was on the IC line from Princeton to Hopkinsville. This is where the Cadiz Railroad (CAD) interchanged with the IC. CAD operated three Alco S1's and had 200 yellow boxcars used to haul auto parts from a plant in Cadiz. CAD had 10 miles of track connecting Cadiz with Gracey. It provided minimal passenger service in an old wood combine passenger car for many years.

I took these photos about ten years ago. Now there is a roof over the S1.

Here is my CAD boxcar which was a gift I received.

Garry,

I have that Cadiz box car too. I was going to get some modern pictures of the metropolis bridge on Thursday but had to go back to the office.

I am familiar with Ireland's predominant religion, I am of Irish decent, the Wards came to America from Ireland in the early 1900s.

I read that there are exceptions to celibacy in the priesthood, they're rare as all get out, but they exist, and the pope himself even said he's considered allowing all priest to marry, reason being they need more priests.

Let's get off religion and back to trains.

Actually we were talking about celibacy and marriage.  In some cases those are the same thing.  Big Smile

I'd gamble it's a one armed bandit?

Or some sort of coin-op dispenser.

Perhaps I could get a hint?

I'm afraid Tinplate that it actually was you back on page 7.  Something about your wife scolding you and receiving good advice.

As for you, Steven, if we have to get off the subject of marriage (which is different than the taboo subject of religion). then we don't need to hear about your fatal attractions to girls and cars.

 Eveing Diners. Sigh

Flo, get the gang and I a Beer, Ulrich, Rick and Steven what they like.

Today did not go the way I hoped for. Sigh With all of the Storm Storm the roof started to leak again and in all places the Wifes Closet and second Bedroom acting as my wifes I want to keep everything I ever owned room! Leaks where small but my wife acted like We are all going to die!

My Son inlaw was going to come over to help tarp the roof. Daughter decided to hire a local Handy Man instead and she paid for him to help. He cut off any limbs that where touching the roof, tar patached what he could and charged only $200.00. He blew all the junk off the roof that was turning into dirt, smelled like potting soil.

Only good thing he said about the roof? Well he did not fall through but he is guessing 50% of the plywood needs to be replaced.

Bright Side is my Wife threw away a bunch of junk! She is a horder as was the rest of her family. Only made a small dent but it is a start! Big Smile

Nothing wrong with talking about marriage, I was just saying let's not get into a religious firefight. So if you guys want to talk about marriage go ahead, I ain't married so it doesn't concern me.Laugh

Let me make sure that I say this in no uncertain terms.

I said and I quote, "let's get off the topic of religion"

So did the word marriage get substituted into that sentence somehow?

Carry on with your marital discussions if you wish.

Afternoon all from a sprinkly West Coast.

Okay now, no cheatin. Without going back and looking at the (Shorpy) photo, what time is it in the bar???? Just remember honesty is like pregnancy and there is no such thing as being a little bit pregnant.

First to respond with the right guess WINS nothing.

The wife bought me a rather large bottle of Rum today. She will do anything to have her way with me.Smile, Wink & Grin Unfortunately the usual crowd is on its way and by the time they leave we will both realize how old we are.Laugh

Getting the trailer ready for the wife to stay in at a dog show coming up starting Thursday. I'll take her out Wednesday and go get her Sunday night and then tuck the trailer away for the winter. It is about an hour and a half away so she prefers to just stay at the show and yak with all her doggie friends into the wee hours.

I either have to start eating more or exercise less. I was up seven gooey pounds and now I am down ten from that. That was easy is all I can say, the Rum will even things out a bit. I spend an extra 3 hours on the bike for a week or so and WHAMO! I think I will be spending more on groceries as I am lovin the double time on the bike.

I see the first of my fellow Rum drinkers have arrived so I better go crack the seal and start pouring.

All the best to all.

Thats only one half of it. It's going to be symmetrical and covered by a tarp but you get the idea.
