Howdy folks,
Speaking of the IC, the daytime desk clerk at HIE used to work for the IC in the fares? department, he would come up with the shipping prices.
Just took this outside.
Steve
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough!
Are we too far north and west for boiled peanuts?
Just as well, imagine a peanut with the consistancy of a baked bean with a poisonous amount of salt.

Good evening .
MLC ... Thanks for the greetings. ..... Also thanks for the historic photos. ... I have a book about the history of the IC line from Paducah to Louisville (Now the P & L Ry) .... Interesting to read about the trains of gold going to Fort Knox. ... I see if I can locate the book.
Robert .... Reading about Elvis' sandwich does not appeal to me.
Henry ... That peanut thing does not sound good to me either.
NWP SWP ... Beautiful clouds photos

Boiled peanuts more of a Georgia, Alabama, Florida thing.
I have actually had some, but I am not that fond of them.
Evening folks,
Boiled peanuts are a Louisiana thing too.
Went to the MRR club, got some free mechanical advice. I need to get some transmission related stuff done.
I'll be around.
Good evening all.
The craziness of page 5 is here....
Zoe - A large RBF please. Thanks.
I will pass on the special sandwiches and the boiled nuts. Honey roasted, maybe, but no thanks on the boiled.
Weather - Hot, Humid, Hot, sticky, and hot.... And it's hot. It's still, at 11:10pm, 78F, with a dew point of 73. So very humid, and very hot.
Tomorrow is guessed to be 90-92F, with a very high humidity index.
W*^k - Decent sales day yesterday, did jack today... Secondary job wasn't much busier.
Hope all are well, and all enjoy the night!

Evening All!
Looks like we have the standard page 5 glich.
Hobby Front: Decided to breakdown and ballast some of my turnouts and the tracks over the joints. Proving to be rather interesting. Foam creation is also being rather interesting.
The passenger car has increased by another car. I got the floor for the fourth coach today and it is already painted and installed with the trucks. I did accidentally glue one of trucks down with the CA for the weights. Thankfully I have some Glue Buster and got that solved quickly. It is now waiting for me to finish the custom decals and get them ordered.
Car Front: Mom finally found a "new" car. The dealership will bring the vehicle down on Sunday. While we didn't see it in person, it is a Certified Pre-owned Vehicle and the dealership is one of the most well known in the region, so there shouldn't be a problem. Maybe I can get the layout section finally brought into town around the 16th.
Good Evening everyone—
I hope this finds you well...
Recorded in Ohio — but headed for Kentucky!
Kudos to the photographer, for using a tripod! I would have liked a pan-shot now and then, though. Great sound, horn echo in second scene, too.
At least the format isn't that crazy vertical video style
Looks like NS forgot to get out the DullCote. All railroad equipment is a dull, flat finish, right?
Cheers, Ed
Eveing Diners
Flo, the gang will have a and I take a keg with a straw, give Ulrich, Rick and Steven what they like.
My Brain Hurts Work Front. The more I dug into what Nancy and Jerry sold Staurday and Sunday the more I got behinde! By the close of the day I was finnaly to where I started when I got there this morning!
LMC Whats was wrong with the wife and is she OK?
Steve O I am more of a Duffer than a Old Cute. I still have 70% of my hair. I don't think, well in my case I know the problem is not Steven's age but the time he moves the dinner!
Start the new Dinner, post a waring the dinner is being moved and add a link to the new dinner. Is that asking to much?
My brain hurts, so later.

Ken,
Mrs MLC story is a long one, She has excercised every day for 25 years. Last May she hurt her ab muscles. (but continued to excesicse) She hurt them some more in June. Then things got really bad by mid July and she seeks treatment, They put her on pain meds and muscle relaxer and she has reaction to both. Pain meds cause pancratitis and muscle relaxer turns her into a lobster with a bad rash and made her "nutty".
we get her off those meds, ( which also cause severe gastritis) she has to have an upper GI scope to see if ulcers. ( no ulcers just inflamtion)
She has been in rehab for 6 weeks and everytime they have her do some Ab muscle excesise it injures again. The pain got so bad Sunday night we went to ER to get a CAT scan to see if there is something else going on. CT scan came back clear. We suspect a rare type of hernia that they usually only find with exploratory surgery. She has appointment with surgeon tomorrow. This has mainly been mentally tiring on her because she can't work out. She started a new job and is afriad she will lose it so she streeses and can't get rid of stress because she can't work out. So that adds to the "pain" Since we had ER visit and found there were no cancers etc we have been in a better frame of mind.
So moral to the story is "excersise is bad for you"
Good morning. Here is some more touring of Western KY.
Here is a picture of Casey Jones , He was from Cayce Kentucky (hence the nickname.)
The IC Paucah shops under contruction in 1925
cleaning a locomotive at the roundhouse at Paducah in 1955
Building of a center pivot swing bridge over the TN river at Gilbertsville KY in 1905.
This Bridge would be replaced by Ky Dam upstream of the location . The railroad crossed the dam until recently when a new bridge replaced the dam crossing up stream of the dam.
Bear , here is another car ferry at Paducah. It traveled between Paducah and Brookport IL across the Ohio river.
Good morning .
MLC ... Thanks for the historic photos. I did see the one of Casey Jones on the 2-8-0 at the Casey Jones Museum. I recall his nickname is based on his home town, Cayce, KY. ... The new bridge at the dam actually is downstream on the Tennessee River as it flows north to the Ohio River. I recall dring acorss the dam when the railroad also was on the dam. There was a coal train on the dam at the same time. ...
Bear, and again to everybody else, thanks for the birthday wishes.
Today is our anniversary. Many years ago, my wife gave me "Skookum" as a gift. I currently have a thread about it in the main forum.
This relates to our present conversations in the Diner because Skookum was built by Baldwin for a logging railroad in eastern TN. It did not stay there long because the small locomotive was still too big for the poor trackage in the TN forests. Later it was moved to a logging railroad in the Pacifc Northwest where it received its Native American name.
Happy times!
Ulrich (aka The Tin Man)

Yep Garry Downstream. And the tracks and highway both were removed from the Dam.

Afternoon folks!
Ulrich, Lookin' NICE!!!!!!!
In keeping with our placement of this month's diner, I offer:
Not a train but you might like this local houseboat...
Meanwhile since fall is just starting North of the Border:
I've spent most of the morning over at the fieldhouse putting in my 4 miles. Today the lady who runs the place stopped me just as I was starting my last lap and warned me that the heat index was well above the danger point and to be very careful! I told her I rest several times while doing the 4 miles and only had one lap left to do and I keep myself very hydrated. Not to worry! Good they are keeping a watch on us though....
Will be spending much of the afternoon getting some NMRA stuff acomplished after I go get a new pair of bifocals at the eye docs and after lunch...

Rust...... It's a good thing !
Them don't look like the cats in my neck of the woods.
Went to O'Reillys auto parts, it's going to run me about 300 in parts alone, a good part of the stuff I can get done but three things are going to wait till October when I can get it into the shop.
Those things are a metal shift tube, new fully insulated shift cable, and motor mounts.
And I also have a cylinder missing when the throttle is almost wide open.
When I was gassing up earlier I saw a phone charger in the bed of my truck, seems Nate aka the club horses patoot was goofing around in the bed of my truck and forgot his charger back there, I have contacted Casey about it and he's forwarded it to Nate, I guess I'll have to make a run to Central to get it to him.
I'll be around later.
Nice looking MR pictures Ulrich. Compared to my modeling speed your definitely quicker getting things done than I am... impressive photos
Nice Tennessee/Kentucky pictures moecurlylarry. I must say I enjoyed them. Nice contributions to the thread! Appreciated
I always liked Johnny's song with June I'm Going to Jackson
Evening all, it was another 23c sunny day in paradise today.
Garry, Happy Anniversary. That was a nice gift from your wife. We are two lucky guys as my wife has surprised me on more than one occasion with stuff for the layout.
A friend sent me this video, he is a Parks Canada Ranger up in Banff and gives courses on dealing with Grizzly bear encounters. These visitors handled the situation reasonably well, though they should have slowly moved to the right up the hill in case Mr. Bear said you are on my trail.
I have only had Grizzly encounters when I was in my truck off the beaten track and I always have my bear spray when hiking. I have come nose to nose with a cougar once she was a real babe. The cougar was on top of a pile of lumber looking down at me, I noticed it out of the corner of my eye when it moved, We both froze noses about 5' apart. I spoke softly and took a couple of slow steps, then it turned and ran off. The real kicker is, I saw the thing about five hours earlier as it ran across the highway right in front of me.
MLC, lovin the pics. I like it when we get lots of input on the area we are visiting.
Hope your wife gets over her health issues.
I think I may need another shoulder surgery, however, I will procrastinate as usual. Though it would be nice to be all healed up by early Spring so we'll see. Last time I went in, the whole thing just totally took over my life before I knew what hit me. Saw my DR.on a Tuesday, the surgeon on thursday, had an MRI on Monday, went in for a test procedure on Wednesday where they froze my shoulder and moved it around to test motion. Booked me for surgery two weeks later, however, I had them postpone that until the summer was over. If I had to sit in front of the idiot box recuperating, it sure wasn't going to be in the summer. I was up and around in a couple of days, way ahead of schedule. A lot faster than what they told me it would be.
Ulrich, the backdrop is .
Steven, what year is your truck? It looks to be around a 1990.
I have been watching Ken Burns "Vietnam War", I have seen three of his other series and have enjoyed them all. He touches on some sensitive things just enough and in a way that sends up red flags and I end up having to read all about it the next day.
Time for the tube.
All the best to all.

Flo, give the gang a , Ulrich, Rick, Steven what they want and I take a bottle of Crow Royal for my self! Yep another one of those days.
Dyamic Dual Dunce's Strick Again! I am not sure what happened this time, but a couple was sold one mattress in king sizes that was a old floor model only mattress that was stopped being made in 2016 but was told it would be a new one. But ticket had the correct name and sku for a driffrent current mattress? The customer saw it was not the same mattress (by the same company) and I got the deal done with out lying! I guess she does not realize not every one is as stupid as she is and remebers what things look like!
Ulrich That is a great looking back drop!
Ray First time I smiled all day!
Thank God I am off the next 4 days!
Later, Ken
Late evening Diners

My truck is a 93 f150 it's an OBS F Series (Old Body Style)
Basically between 79 and 98 Ford reused the same basic truck design and updated certain things.
For example 79-86 you have the "Bullnose"
87-91 you have the "Bricknose"
Then 92-96 you have the OBS
Now that's for the F-150s, the F-250 and larger trucks stayed OBS 97-98
I’m considering getting my name tattooed on the inside of my left arm, in case I forget who I am!!
Don't bother Bear. You will forget which arm it is on!

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Tinplate ToddlerDiner to the Appalachians, so I understand we will be hearing some good old country music in this month! Johnny Cash (my all time favorite), Gordon Lightfoot,
Uh, sorry Ulrich. Gordon Lightfoot is one of my favourite artists too but he sure as heck isn't from the Appalachians! He was born in Orillia, Ontario, Canada in 1938, and made his first recording at the age of 10 years on a recording machine in his school principal's office. The recording was subsequently played over the PA system on Parent's Day. One of the early places he played in his 'solo' professional career was at the Riverboat Coffee House in Toronto. My brother saw one of his appearances there and was hooked forever. He introduced me to Lightfoot's incredible music. I used to put a stack of Lightfoot's LPs on my old record player when I was in university and listen to them all night while I wrote my papers. I rolled a few papers to his tunes too!!
