Good evening Diners

After a three-day weekend with Family, then a full pallet on my plate for work this week. I had little time to catch up with you guys.

Ed and Garry thank you. It is nice to be remembered, you both put a smile on my faceSmile.... I didn't get locked in the basement with my Model Railroad and Trains Ed,  I had to go back to workSad

Steven, next time I talk to my brother-in-law I will mention to him the PM you sent me and see what he has to say about it.

I hope all the East Coast people got evacuated all right. The S will hit the fan soon. I would hate to be a last-minute evacuator. Can't even imagine that traffic.

Nothing much on the modeling front from me lately.... That's what Winters are for right!   Old Man Winter has his wing on the edge of the seasons.  Good night to the crickets.  Winter is coming fast.

Take care Friends

PS   Alrich  if you would,  please elaborate a little.  I have no idea what is is going on in Germany right now.  I haven't heard anything on the news over here.... TF is a little concerned about TPT!   Please share a little information if you will.

Appreciated     Track Fiddler

Well first off, she's a freshman, he's a freshman, he's also 17 she's 18, I'm NOT in high school I graduated and am taking a break year because I graduated EARLY. And I'll be 18 this January, by the way.

Shes also at a really strict Christian college, she's not looking for a status relationship, she's a home schooler like me. If she actually starts dating this guy it'd be her first time dating.

So have all the facts before you start choosing sides.

I'm actually over it but at the end of the day she led me on and wasn't straight with me and that's what annoyed me.

Example I was talking to a girl from graduation, she said that she had a boyfriend and couldn't talk to me, I said oh sorry my bad, and I'm not going to bother her again.

Honesty, it's such a lonely word.

Thanks TF!

Anyways, so do you guys think feasibly I could lower the hood of a SD40 by 25%? In order to get the visibility clearance of a switcher, would It still clear the "Prime Mover" or no?

I can respect your reservations for elaboration TPT.

Regrettably I'm left in the dark here.  I wish I could understand. I wish I could help.

Evening folks,

Ulrich, I understand and value you guys opinions, I don't really have a "grandfather" figure perse so I look up to you guys a little, and I thank Henry for his point of view.

Also I can put a good word in with the Man upstairs for you and yours if you wish.

Also just to clear up something, I've known Sarah since 3rd grade, and we've been friends for a long time, I think what happened was I got "friend" or "bro" zoned, as in not a dating option, and I misread some signals vice versa ect. Also I will add she's very immature more like a 16-17yo than 18 but then again her birthday was only a month ago. And I guess I can still be her friend.

Anyways,

No modeling today, and none for a while I'm back in a money pinch due to lack of work at the hotels, seems I did everything labor day!? My job is special projects.

I heard this song today I could swear I've heard that horn piece in some old show or something.

Well later folks!

Young Steven - I really don´t think you should be talking about your dating woes in here the way you do unless you are prepared to receive some answers which may ruffle your feathers.

Yes, amen to that.  Your love life, or lack thereof, is none of our business.

Hardy Har Har har!

I posted about it here to get it out of my system, excuse me if that made you uncomfortable, I won't make the mistake again.

And also I'm not perturbed by the advice but that Henry said that I was still in high school bugged me, it's even in my signature, "High School Graduate", it's something I'm very proud of.

 Eveing Diners Sigh

Flo, give the gang what ever they want and I will take a lot of Beer

Wife Front Got a call from her at 7:30 AM crying because of the pain. My daughter got there at 8:00 AM and with stuff I had to do got there at 10:00 AM. She seemed better and was sitting in a chair which is good. Then it was up and down all day long.

Phiscal Theperoist thinks she sould stay all day Friday and get out Saturday. My daughter and I think that would be the best way to go. Her Surgen Dr Anderson said (the first 24 hours is the hardest, we will she what happens Friday) I can respect that, but I rather waite till Saturday my self.

Evenin' Folks!

I am posting from my laptop in the Double Tree by Hilton in Mahwah, NJ.  I am at the NER, NMRA Convention for the weekend.  T'was  good long drive fron the Finger Lakes Region of NYS, but not a bad one.....

Young Steven, I understand where you are and feel for you.  I wrote a "dear Diane letter" to to the sweet, beautiful young thing I had dated my senior year of high school, mostly because I knew I wouldn't see her often and there was this gorgeous freshman french horn player that I had met at a music camp that summer....  She was... well, I won't go into detail here, but I was very infatuated with her.  She broke off the relationship just before Christmas that year.  I then, of course realized that the better of the two I had given up already.  The second semester, I dated an Indian Girl who was a sweet girl, but the cultural issues were very restricting, shall we say.  The following summer my sister got my high school sweetheart and I back together.  Ah...  Just lets say the two of us got married on tax day the following April......  Oh...  And I became a father that October.   Ahem....  (No!  You don't need to do the math.)

My wife died 31 years ago, and it has taken me all that time to really start looking for someone else in my life.  I'm just hoping that I will find that special lady that would lke to spend the rest of her life with me, and I with her.  Maybe that will happen, maybe it won't...  I will take life as it leads me.  So don't give up hope and keep looking.  You'll find that special one sooner or later! Wink

"Age is just a number, most of us feel about like our shoe size." - paraphrased from George Burns.

Well, off to get some Zzzzzzzz's and be ready for a long day tomorrow here at the convention!

Hi Diners,

Hello, how's everyone?

Steven: I like your heavy flat car.  Good work.  For general info, when they tie down the load, they wouldn't use one continuous line because if it broke anywhere, the entire load would become undone.  Much better to use individual tie downs so that if one breaks the rest will still keep the load secure,...hopefully.  Admittedly a small point and I doubt anyone would ever notice.

Ulrich:  from what little I know about the situation in Germany and the rest of Europe, it's a real mess.  Our church follows events in Europe fairly closely; however I'm certain that it's worse than we know And becoming very incendiary.

Well, gotta get to bed.  5:30 comes all too soon.

Hello to everyone and I hope everyone is OK and safe.

Less is more,...more or less!

Howdy ...

Long day ... Up late here.

Steve O ... Thanks for the yummy bakery bread.

Ken ... Sorry to hear your wife is in so much pain. Prayers for her. .... I recall the insurance companies trying to get me out of the hospital too soon after some surgery I had several years ago. Sounds like Medicare does likewise.

Ray .... Enjoy teh convention !

Jim UP .... Nice to see you here.

Steven NWP SWP .... Just a thought, but you might look into working for a company that pays college tuition for employees. ...

Ulrich .... I'll try sending you a PM.

TF .... Uh, oh !.... Did you say Winter ? .... Today ws such a beautiful day, I hate to think of that.

FRRYKid

That leaves only two more pieces of rolling stock on the want list: an Athearn observation car for the passenger fleet and an Exactrail hopper car. (I asked Mom for part of the funds for the hopper car for my birthday. She has said that idea is acceptable.)

Hey there FrryKid,    In regard to the Athearn  observation car,  I might be able to help you with that.  I believe I have one here but it has the fluted sides.
Is that what you are looking for or is it a smooth sided one ?

. . .I posted about it here to get it out of my system, excuse me if that made you uncomfortable, I won't make the mistake again. . .

A couple of suggestions:

  1. I don't think the intent of the forum, or more specifically the diner, is a place for a cathartic release of teenage angst. Get yourself a journal and use it as a release point. All will be better served.
  2. I am hoping that the philosophy of "respecting your elders" has not gone by the wayside. When I was in my late teens and early twenties, heck, even now in my fifty-somethings, I would never even consider using this "tone" with someone with more age and experience. Again, all would be better served if you dialed it down a notch or two.

Perhaps my post had a disrespectful tone that was not intended, sorry.

I will keep my social life to myself from now on, again sorry.

Mornin All.

It is a damp day here on the West coast which I'll gladly take over what the East coast is facing. The last storm of Typhoon size we had was in 1962. I sure remember all the damage I saw emerging from the house as a five-year-old. Most of the houses in our new subdivision were less than two years old and many had been crushed by those huge trees we have out here.

Ken, I hope your wife is prepared to work hard on her recovery, it makes all the difference to her quality of life down the road. I had many Aunts and older cousins have knees, hips and shoulders done and could see the difference in their recoveries. They had a choice of doing outpatient physical therapy or moving into a rehab facility usually for two to six weeks. The ones that moved into rehab were miles ahead of the ones that didn't as they made you work hard. Of course, your situation is different down there as you have to worry about the cost. Anyway here is hoping for the best for both you and your wife.

Steven, when you sing at these events what kind of accompaniment do you have. A friend of my sons did similar events to what you are doing and he did "If You Could Read My Mind". I put down the guitar track for him which he sent to someone else to do the bass track which I could have done as well as I had a beautiful Fender Bass at the time. The guy that did it was really good though. He then had strings added. It was much better than an off the shelf accompaniment. After ten years he signed his first deal.

I see my thread about Rapidos Royal Hudson was removed. I guess it is considered advertising, fair enough. I get a laugh out of those guys videos though.

My wife cleaned up at the Dog Show yesterday showing four of her own dogs, none of which live here with us. I don't get the show thing. I am as excited about dog shows as she is about trains.Tongue Tied They are having a big Birthday bash for her tomorrow night at the show grounds so I need to drive out to that and may stay the night if my Daughter stays home to look after our dogs.

Had "can you do something for me in a hurry" call from the kid in Ottawa yesterday. One of the movie people wanted a biography of him real quick, so he asked me to write one up which I did. I sent it to him and it was perfect he said and sent it in. He has no idea why they wanted it, I guess he will find out. He was up to his eyeballs in school work, so it was Dad to the rescue.

Well, lots to do today so best get on with it. I think I will not ride the bike today as I am fading away.Laugh

All the best to all.

Evening, everyone!

Warm and kind of nice tonight.

Found out I  will need a new right hip today. That sucks.

All you guys jumping on Steven is absoulutely making me sick. You piss and moan about the hobby dying and here is a kid that is more enthusiactic than any four of you put together.

The " get off  my lawn" crowd is what will kill the hobby.

 Grow up.

Steven, keep doing what you're doing. I, for one. applaude you.

I can't remember anyone complaining when any of us geezers complained about our wives, except in one case, where the extracurricular activities weren't suitable for a family forum.

Stephen has also been upfront about his Aspergers.  Some of you might want to read up on that.  It explains a few things about Stephen that you are interpreting as rudeness or flightyness.

 Eveing Diners

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer and Ulrich, Rick and Steven what they like.

Wife is home and I am glad and sad at the same time. She can now walk (well sort of) way better than yesterday. She walked 90 feet to day with the help of a walker and I was Surprise. She even made it up a step like we have here at the house on her own! Problem is she will not do what she was told to do by the Physical Thetapist's. I was told she should only be in bed to sleep and they want her in a chair most of the time. I made her sit in a chair for about 2 hours but then my daughter let her get in bed. Now in all fairness my wife back is a Train Wreck and laying down helps with her back pain. Going to be a up hill battle that is for sure!

Henery and Terry I am with you as far as Steven goes! I have no problems with his posting about his female quest. Sort of enjoy them in fact.

Far as Galaxey? After he tried to tell Steven what he should post about and Steve O flamed his tail I think he is out of here! Would love to see him back, but Steve O nailed him ptetty hard!

 Later, Ken
