bjdukert: Got yours nad sent a PM to you! Thank you!
RAY: Having been through a house fire once {in the middle of the night with me in it-had my roommate not gone to heis GF's he'd have suffered more than the smoke inhalation/burns i received. I can commiserate. The hardest part was replacing DOCUMENTS....birth certificate, etc afterwards that was lost. The material goods were easy to replace. Help her to replace lost documnets. i am so glad we are out of the trailer, as traielr fires are more common than house fires, but nay fire is b-a-d BAD. Then I was 'home invaded' in FL where the broke in while I was home, bashed my head, and shoved me to the concrete floor nad held a very large hunting knife to my throat. WHile the wielder of the knife turned to shout instructions, he cut me..though it was unintentional I am assuming. They just wanted my "goods".....
Perhaps THAT is why I am so concered about rainsing money for YGW's SIL, after what she went through!
ANYONE else who wnats to donate for YGW's SIL in the fundraiser I have organized form his GERNEROUS friends here at MRRing forums, PLEASE PLEASE PM me!!! We can use all hte help we can get. 100% of all donations go to a bank check to YGW'S SIL directly! here's hoping we CAN show more concern for our fellow human beings hwo have been WRONGED!
Looking forward to your PM'S and pledges and receiving your funds for her!

Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Red Berry crunch Organic Cereal (bring the pouches of Stevia) and a pot of Seneca lake Dark Roast Coffee for my FGLK Mug, Please and Thank you Ma'am!
Rather gray outside here in the Finger Lakes this morning. Currently 45°F with a high of 44°F according to the Weather People. Good day to spend with the model trains I think.
I am basically caught up with my responsibilities for the MLK Committee for the moment and have no pressing things to do with Scouts either. heh, heh.... Good day to do some work on the Railroad for a change. I'm surprised I am not sore or have an aching back this morning from crawling under the layout doing the wiring yesterday. Maybe I should spend more time doing that sort of thing.
I do want to try some different ISO setting on the camera with the new lens. Want to be able to shoot photos inside the church on MLK Day without having the flash going off all the time. Want to see how a high ISO speed will affect the results of pics. I will using many of them in the slide show we put on during the Scholarship Dinner in May. They don't have to be perfect, but I do want them to be reasonably clean for the program.
Ulrich, they keep the place as a dump so you will instantly feel better when you get to leave....... Hope all goes well for you there!
Lion, interesting account of the "fun" of flying! There is another reason why I either drive or take the train or better yet stay at home...... Yes, ther are time when there is not much choice. Not sure what will happen when my Sister in Florida passes from Cancer. I may just wait until the family comes here to inter her in the family plot in Canandaigua. At this point her cancer while not in remission has stopped spreading and growing. So she is at least stable for the moment.
Phone rang...... I been yaking with a friend who is the Commissioner for the pack assocviated with the handicapped Troop I am commissioner for.... That took care of the last hour.
I'll catch you all later!

We'll get there sooner or later!
Well my best laid plans went to south of the border ! Planned on buying an additive to the paint so I could finish painting the built in cabinet. Arrived at the paint store at 12:25 - they closed at 12 ! , so then I thought I will just double back and go to the Post office and pick up my Peabody coal car ordered on ebay for $4 and that will put me there about the time it opens at 1pm. I thought I would be there at 12:56. Nope got stuck behind a funeral prosession so I arrived at 1:03. They closed at 1 not opened at 1 pm !
So I doubled back and found some old flat paint and at least primed the built in cabinet. Just finished washing up the toools, grabbed a bite to eat. Checking the forum.
Ulrich - you must have been posting while I was typing earlier. Is that a Goverment run health care facility ? I am sorry that you have to endure that ! $5 for a cup of Joe !! That robbery ! Did you ask where the gun was ?
Charlie - 35 ? Want me to bag up some warm air and ship to you ?
Galaxy - I hope you get some rest today
Howmus - That is so nice not having any thing pressing to do.

Evening guys
bee down and out with a Nasty flu bug. Miss the last few days of work too. The worst part has been the hot and cold feeling and temperature of 102. Starting to feel a bit better though only energy I have had is to lay on the couch and play the ps4.
i had all these projects lined up for the long hard winter.mi was going to work on my table top hockey teams painting them and had numerous model railroad projects. But it has been a mild winter and no snow which is odd for this part of Canada. It was 8c today and before you know it it will be spring and thos "projects" I had lined up will be for next winter, lol but then again it's only early January and we could still get hammered with cold and snow until May. When I feel better I may start a few of them.
Evening Dinners
Flo, please and I will pay Ulrich Bill.
Work Front Well winter hit us today and it was slow. (no ware as bad as the weather guessers where saying) Only 4 customers, Jerry and I each had 2 each, I sold both of mine Jerry sold 1. I win!
Ulrich Very happy seeing you posting!
Train Front Just had my first turnout miss hap. Luckly it was at very slow speed so not a problem. To mout the control panel I have to cut a hole through my WWII surplus desk. Was going to use the death wheel (die grinder) but could not find my face sheild or safty glasses. So that is on hold.
Later, Ken
I hate Rust
Lunchtime!
I skipped lunch at the place and went down to the cafe to enjoy that expensive coffee and a slice of "Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte" instead. Will cost me a fortune, but I hate the food we get in the rehab clinic.
yougottawantaUlrich - you must have been posting while I was typing earlier. Is that a Goverment run health care facility ? I am sorry that you have to endure that ! $5 for a cup of Joe !! That robbery ! Did you ask where the gun was ?
YGW - it´s not a Government run place, but a private one, hence the bad food and accommodation. They squeeze out every nickel and dime to maximise profits at the expense of "creature comfort".
There are no exercises or any therapy done during the weekend, so I have some free time. I have not yet gone to the model railroad display, as it is a little too far to walk there from the clinic and a cab ride blows my budget. I hope to be able to talk some of my fellow inmates into going there, so we can split the bill on that.
If all goes right, Ill be home on the 22nd - another long and boring 12 days to go!
Blessings to all!
Hey guys
Bad news, being admitted to the hospital forpneumonia.
I will be incommunicado few days
Later
Mornin' I think....
Zoe, How about I have a bowl of Red Berry Crunch Organic Cereal with skim milk and a large pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Raost this morning. Bring over my R&GV RR Mug please.
Well Galaxy! Bummer, but hopefully you will be feeling much better in a few days! Will add you to the prayer list (getting pretty long....).
Ulrich, I'm not surprised at all.... Hope you can get a bunch of inmates to join you for the trip to the Model Railroad place!
Yesterday was a day off form all the other stuff that has been ocuppying my time lately. I spent most of the day doing Block Wiring on the layout and putting details on the girder bridge. That consisted of adding Grandt Line Bolts to the sf=afety timbers on the edges of the thies:
Currently raining outside here in the Finger Lakes Region. Temperature is holding steady at 45°F and dark and gloomy.
I have to get my guitar out and retune it. May be giving my Granddaughter a lesson late this afternoon... I best be getting my shower and getting rady to fasce the day!
Catch you all later!
In my room semi coherent and semi lucid. Train nut friend here whilemoh home for a spell.
They hope soon to go home but I still can scarcely breath and coughing exhausts me.
Thanks for any prayer s y'all can throw my way

Bletch! Get well soon G. Prayers as requested
Ulrich glad you've found a WiFi spot - if at higher-than-Diner prices! At any rate you know that there are many here pulling for you. ...and that goes for all the others on "sick call"! Mind you any cake with Kirsch in the title has to be good therapy - and Black Forrest with the cherries and chocolate is positively Health Food! .

Der:
Thanks.
I don't think they will let me have any kirschtorta of any kind!
I am on cardio healthy heart diet. Didn't want tonight's dinner special, so I weaseled a cheeseburger outta them. Not with fries though... Baked potato!
Have an appetite due to steroids. Finally feel like eating. Moh and trainnut friend came back for dinner visiting.
Still hurts to breathe...coughing still exhausts me.
Keeping the nurse hopping getting the meds Itake!
Haven't seen many in today, hopeeveryone is doing better than I. .

Der - Look forward to your email. Show us some of your design >
Jeremy - hope you feel better soon
Ken - WAY TO GO !!! Good job being one up on sales.
Today has not been a great day. I tell you this year is not starting off well. My grandaughter is in a hospital an hour away getting operated on. She has an infection in a gland. My sister is out of the hospital with a stent ( sp? ) in. My mother is sick. I will be glad when January is over.
TTYL
Evenin' Folks!
Janie, I could sure use a nice hot cup (or two) of decaf coffee at the moment!
Currently 31°F with a 30mph wind and gusts up to 60mph out there. Came home from dinner at my son's house tonight and there are already lots of limbs down around the area. We are under a high wind warning until 4am tomorrow morning. Some counties to the west of here are going to get some "Lake Effect" tonight and tomorrow. They are looking at 3 to 6" overnight and another 4 to 7" tomorrow.... The weather people say we might get a whole inch out of the system.... I like the Finger Lakes!
My Granddaughter's guitar lesson went well, but I think she thought it would be easier and by the third lesson she would be a major 3rd. grade guitarist.... LOL If she does her practicing, she will be playing well by next year.
Managed to get home tonight in the wind only using EV. Milage goes down in Wintertime anyway. (Mid Summer I may get 14 miles distance) I had 10 miles of EV when I left here and got out too son's house with 1.8 miles left. It is 7.9 miles from my house to his house. Put the car on the charger when I got there and had 10 miles when I left. Managed to roll in my driveway with .1 left! One big diference is it is slightly downhill from my house to his and it is uphill from his house to mine.... If it was any colder, I would have turned on the heat and started the ICE.
Tomorrow I will pick up the new Banner for the MLK committee at Staples and then I get to take kittie cats to the vets....
Prayers for all in need!
Flo, Beer please.
Galaxy Get well soon, but a Chesse Burger does sound good.
Sitting here wondering why my Trains Hate me? I really do like them!
yougottawantaKen - WAY TO GO !!! Good job being one up on sales.
YGW Sad thing is it does not matter that I can beat Jerry in sales. Jerry is her new pet! If I sold 2 times more than Jerry it would not matter to her! You have to remember Nancy did not want to fire Drunk Dave even after I had to have the Police to remove him from the store! Only reason Drunk Dave got canned is because my store was closed 2 days because he did not show up! Dave was her old pet, Jerry is the new one!
Nancy is one of the reasons this company is a Train Wreck.
Ken
OK official diagnosis is: asthma, occluded left lung ( blocked) and localized pneumonia.
They may want me to go home tomorrow but I will push for another day at least ,if not two.
I am piggyback on the local patient WiFi but still on my phone
They just came in to do a flu test and the vampire will be in 2 hours not much sleep at night here.
Guys I don't know how I rated a swisscheese burger! Not on the cardio heart healthy diet! It was dry like cardboard with cheese in it though, still better than the kumps of flour in thin sauce they called chicken and dumplings today for lunch! I patient apparently said well that ain't how my mommaade em. I said that ain't how I make them!!!! Lol.yukky. so maybe that was why I got the swiss burger!
Ate dinner and had 2 sandwiches one at 9:30 and one now since they got me up at 2 am. Ilost 18 lbs this week, 5.5 lbs in one day! The steroids made me hungry, just a roast beef and a ham Sammy. Breakfast is at about 730. Sounded good so I will see. Cinnamon french toast, I picked breakfast potatoes, oatmeal, and coffee and juice. We will see how it comes out
We goodnight and see you tomorrow.
Prayers for all that need them.
Well GM men's.
With them coming in here every hour for something and the fact I'd normally be awake anyway at this time, so I am NOT getting much sleep!
I feel much better, been coughing up stuff and most importantly getting it out of my lungs could not before, I was drowning in fluid. The iv antibiotics worked well.
We will see today brings!
Hope it brings you guys more successes than failures.
More prosperity and no frugality.
More happiness than sadness.
H
Make it a great day!
Prayers for all in need
Good morning .
Ken ... The photo of the Alcos being scrapped will bring tears to the eyes of Alco fans.
Galaxy .... Sounds like doctors are taking good care of you. Feel better soon.
YGW .... I Hope the rest of the year is much better.
I have this photo in WPF, but I'll post it here too. I just built the small dark green grain truck from a Sylvan Models kit. It is a 1937-1941 International.
Frank: Are you looking in. I thought you might like seeing another truck model
Heartland Division CB&QFrank: Are you looking in. I thought you might like seeing another truck model
Hi Garry,
Yes I saw the new truck on WPF....GREAT JOB! Been a little distracted from things due to My mis-hap with the roof...but it has been resolved....although not repaired yet...the roofer went up there and said I have nothing to worry about...the felt paper that was used (very thick) is holding soundly and the extra thick shingles that were used won't be hard at all to match....He also noticed that the prior roofers missed the tar strip when nailing some sections and that contributed to the problem. There are a couple other things, like reflashing the chimmney and such, but I can't beat the price...400.00..that includes materials...the shingles were for a 35yr. roof, so I know they are not cheap.
All My truck models that were in the construction faze are on hold. I'm concentrating My efforts on kit bashing three Walters cornerstone Merchants row structures (2, 3 and 4) that are for the backdrop section of the layout...that entails making a 5 1/2'' wide buildings, into 2 1/2'' wide. I already cut them to size...I am now adding interior and lights..so it can all be removable and that's taking some time....Maybe next WPF, I'll post a couple in progress pic's.
I still have to send Galaxy mail yet that I almost forgot about.
Take Care, All!
Frank
Mornin' Frank, Mornin' Zoe... Gee, the place looks like a hospital ward this morning, complete with IV bags.... Oh, They let Galaxy stop by... I see.
I'll have my usual with a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Coffee. Huh? No in my R&GV RR Mug not an IV Bag! Sheesh!
Sun has been trying to shine around these parts this morning, but will turn to cloudiness this afternoon. We will get a few sn*w flurries later, but less than an inch of accumulation. On the other hand (YGW may like this) over in the Buffalo, NY area southeast of Lake Erie they will get in places up to 7 inches of Lake Effect today and this evening and lots of blowing of it around.... That is nothing... Watertown, NY is scheduled to get up to 24" today and another 5" to 10" overnight and will have 50mph wind gusts. Beautiful weather for the people who haven't been able to get out to the Mountains to Ski yet! (snark...)
Waiting to hear from Staples about the Banner. Have to take the kitties to the vet late this afternoon for a blood sugar check. I also need to bundle up and dig out the end of the pipe that dumps water from my roof and sump pump out on the low side of my property just inside the limit where the city might say I can't do that. Yesterday I figured out why I was getting water in the train room. that 4" pipe seperated right at the end of the house where it joins the downspout and was dumping water right by the side of the house. Probably came apart when they did the paving last fall and now the joint is not quite right. I put it back together and will watch it for a while. Likely will have to give Mr. Fussy the handiman a call to repair it...
Time get moving...
Good Morning,
Wow, its only -14F out there today and no wind. Felt balmy when I took Robbie out to do his business.
We will be heading out to the gym later to do some laps.
Galaxy, glad to hear you are on the mend.
CN Charlie
galaxyI don't think they will let me have any kirschtorta of any kind! I am on cardio healthy heart diet. Didn't want tonight's dinner special, so I weaseled a cheeseburger outta them. Not with fries though... Baked potato!
G I'm guessing the Swiss cheese is cardio healthy in their eyes as the holes have zero fat?
YGW Sorry to hear about further health complications in your family.
I cant tell you the last time MOH let me eat a potato or a cheesburger - all salads , yogurt carboard, sawdust....
Der - Show us some of your design
What I saw about this layout was that if I ignored the elevations, the thing was like two bladesof a scissors hinged on the right hand side at the junction of the sets of double tracks. So, I used that thought to swing the blades open through 90 degrees, and shift the lower portion to the left so as to make the transiton curves work. All the while I'm learning how the SCARM program works, so the result isn't too pretty - but here it is:
I get independent continuous running of two trains - but the overall impression is BORING! So, I may just do more looking for other plans which i can adapt, or???? I need in any case ot provide an interchange track so that the layout is "conected to the outside world" - and the overall size needs to be nudged so that it will fit on two doors.
Ray That wind and rain passed through here early this morning and now by early afternoon the sun is out and the "active ditch" along our southern boundary is flowing well within design parameters! We've had worse, and it was a real blessing that the temperatures precluded sn*w. Currently 50F out there.
Things to do - TTFN.
Won't go home today for sure. The doctor doesn't like the sounds of my lungs still.
I was gonna fight and MOH too if they were sending me home.
Have to ween off the daytime o2 but that is dealble.
Train nut friend stopping by supposedly.
The electrician was supposed to work at the house but will stop by tonight instead.
Moh will be back about 4.
So I won't be lonely this afternoon evening.
Talked to mental health therapist as I was to have an appointment with her and then the psychiatrist but they are cancelled until I get out Obviously.
Well lunch is here tolerable meatloaf broccoli and smashed redskins. Potatoes, with chocolate pudding. Looks gorgeous d.
Hope you all have a great day.
Frank .... I appreciate your advice and comments in recent weeks while I work on truck models. I have plenty of other porjcts awiting me on the layout, and I don't know when I will get back to doing more truck models. It's been a lot of fun. The White tractor and livestock trailer came out well in my opinion.
Der John ..... Glad to see you are working on track plans.
Galaxy ... Hope you recover and are home soon.
CN Charlie ... That is cold
Today I am replacing all of the smoke detectors in our house. They are hard-wired smoke detectors and one failed. I could not replace only one as the model is no longer manufactured. I needed to replace all of the smoke detectors so that they will continue to work together. In looking for a replacement, I learned that smoke detectors are to be replaced every ten years. Ours are fifteen years old so it was time to replace all of them anyway.
Richard
Good evening, diners. Winter has finally settled in and the forecast is for measurable snow tomorrow and Wednesday.
Worked on kerfing some more Homosote road bed for another section of curved track. It is a time consuming process as I use a small hand saw to cut the kerfs needed to bend the track into a 26 inch diameter curve radius.
Galaxy, hope you are better soon and able to go home.
Howmus, do you have your snow shovel ready? Sounds like you will see lots of snow the next couple of days.
CN Charlie, thanks for sending the cold weather this way.
Jim
Hey all
Ken - thats sad !
Garry - I sure hope so. I bought my wife a pillow with this saying. "Tell your problem how BIG your God is" This is so true especially right now.
Howmus "Let it snow Let it snow Let it snow
CNCharlie - WHAT -14 Balmy ? Galaxy move over I think CNCharlie is not feeling well - man that frigid weather around here !
Galaxy - Elect doing some wiring on you ? Hope you feel better soon
DER - Read your email - will respond tonight very interesting ! What is the goal for your layout ?
Nothing train related happening in my life today
Good Evening,
Well I spoke too soon, it is changing from balmy to a mind numbing windchill of -40 for tomorrow morning which is the same number in C or F. As luck would have it my wife has a doctor appointment in the morning.
I will be happy to share,
Well well well, old home week tonight....MOH showed up first, then train nut friend and then the electrician and his bride showed up to visit me tonight!
Nice to be remembered!
Well I got my final meds and iv antibiotics so I am waiting for a sandwich then try calling it a night.
See you all sooner than later.
Janie, just need a cup of decaf to warm me up tonight.
Been an interesting day today.... I called Staples late this afternoon to see if the Banner had arrived. After waiting about 5 minutes on hold listening to some nice piano music in one ear... I fianlly got someone whom I told what I was inquiring about and he said he would connect me to that department... That was interesting because I pumched in the number when I first called for that department. Fianlly the young lady I had placed the order with last week asnswered and said, yes the banner came in Friday. She said she sent me an email>>> I din't get an email from them. Oh well, I went over and picked it up. Earlier I took the kitties to the Vet to have their blood sugar checked. Manét was at 84!!! That is quite low. The Vet is convinced he is now in remission which they now know happens to as much as 67% of older cats with Diabettes. I go home and take Blackie (after trying to find him for a while). He was hiding in a playhouse I built for them years ago and that I can't get him out of... Get him over there and his sugar is 118! That is also a bit lower than they would like, but not as bad as Manét. So Manét is now off the insulin and Blackie will only get 1/3rd of what he is getting now. In Two weeks I will take them over again to have them checked... Never a dull moment!
Hope that Galaxy gets to make a break tomorrow (and is feeling a lot better!).
Catch you all in the morning!
