Galaxy,
Just checking. Are you calling me out for offering an alternative means of contributing?
Richard ... I doubt anyone doubts your very good intentions . I'm glad YGW's church is taking donations for Kelly too
Galaxy. I read your post twice and it is not clear what point you are trying to make. In any case, I hope you keep getting better with your illness
Barry ... (Blownout). I hope you don't have any repeats of blacking out. Hope your heart condition is okay for a long time. ... I know what you mean about breaking small drill bits

Evenin' folks!
Janie, kinda chilly in here tonight.... Oh, Heat was out for a while. Well, can I get a cup of hot decaf, I can, Thanks!
Got the local paper tonight and...... I find that the info for an article I sent to them about the MLK Service and events on Monday made the top of the Front Page!!! Dr. Cecilia Golden who is the Executive Director of Education for the Hillside Family of Agencies will be our featured speaker. She is considered to be one of the top educators in the state of New York and has made a real difference with her leadership over the years. She is also my DIL's boss.... DIL thinks very, very highly of her. (DIL teaches English at The Hillside Center in Romulus, NY.) We could have a packed house at the Large Episcopal Church it is being held in this year....
I have been busy getting materials together for the Judging tomorrow morning and running a few errands. Got my haircut too. All of them....
We probably be in after all the judging and stuff gets done tomorrow. Prayers for all in need, and there are quite a few I think! Seems to be a bit of tension and angst......

Work was OK, not great but not bad. My days off, Jerry had a normal Wednesday and Thursday, $125 for both day!
Year end inventory is so close to being done I can taste it! Only thing left to count is Water Bed Parts and Mattress and Pillows! Pillows will be a bite, many of them I have no clue to what they are! Heck, they have been there longer than me!
Closing on the new house loan Wednesday the 20th. Funny that BoS can do a new loan (People are making commission) so fast. Yet it took 3 long years to get the loan modified and I had to hire a lawyer yet!
Well, the is done so later.

I will contiunue to drown in my own fluid until it gets gone or overtakes me. My GP is still out on vacaation, but I see him on FRi for follow up. His nurse callled t get me in sooner, but I'd have to see the NP who SHOUD have sent me to the hospital firsts. If I have more trouble or get worse again I will go back to the hospital. They were the last ones to treat me and should not have sent me home with a bad cough still in my lungs. I cannot get teh fluid up and OUT of my lungs, it just rattles around down there.
It is NICE to be home, but when one is not ready to be there, it is distressing, I see a TON of things htat need doing and indeed we have more things to do at the traier to get the final stuff moved over here, but I am not supposed to lift a finger? Yeah right. This weekedn will be near the 40s f and then it turns cold again, and It will not be good on my lungs to be in the cold air. Train nut friend who came and sat with me in the hiospital even when I was fading in and out of fevered consciousness and incoherent, stayed silently by to watch over me. That was very nice of him, and of his wife to send him. As soon as I called and said I was being checked in she said "GO to him" without question! She is a nurse, and aware of the danger I was in.
TO all others who had hospital episodes of heart, health and such, hope you are faring at least as good as I. I DO wish Ulrich could buy another cuppajoe, but that woudl mean him leaving the facility and probably not allowed! I'd like an update on him too.
I think i can manage to take down hte 2 foot christmas tree now, hte box is here and it shoudl be easy..simply slide it hooked nad loaded into the box, add hte other christmas stuff to the box and put er away for the year. Then the real work begins, putting out the boxes of stuff that WAS on the consol table we used as the base for the tree....That I can do I think. Maybe a few of hte dishes to. then bed rest.
I have to get a new Oxygen "T" connector for my O2 machine to CPAP machine, I struggled last night without O2 as the hospital broke the T connector and gave me a new one. THe new one won;t hold hte old tubing I have here, so it slips off, Taping doesn't do much as it is under pressure enough t o force the hose off the T. I will ahve to wait til Monday ot plead with Lincare or Lourdes HEalth to get a new one I thought about taking the tubing frm the ospital, but didnt as I didnt wnat to bring more germs home from the hospital. Al I ahve is a nasal cannula, but it doesn't work with CPAP.I CAN substitue about 5 hours of O2 from the emergency tank of O2 but that would leave me without o2 backup. and it won;t feed into the CPAP, more imprtant to have the CPAP now instead of hte O2 I guess. WHY cant I ever have everything go right once, just once?
Make someone days brighter, if they are in the hospital, go visit! Even our electrician came to visit me when I was in the hospital {he was due to work at our house that nihgt}, but was worried aobut "catching it"...I had to explain he couldn't "catch" my pneumonia, he'd have to go and acquire his own!!!!
well, here i sit surrounded by boxes-o-schtuff I cannot be allowed to touch.

Good Afternoon!
Two down, one more to go! By Saturday next week, I´ll be home again!
Sorry for not dropping by more often in the past week - I just don´t have those $ 5 minimum charge (includes that mug of coffee) it takes to link me up.
I will be just glad to be home, this place is worse than a jail. I hardly see any improvement. OK, I have lost a few pounds of weight due to the bad food, not due to the exercises, and the distance I can walk without needing to rest has increased, but that´s about all. Actually, I feel rather awkward in this place - I am homesick and I miss Petra!
Barry and Galaxy - I am sorry to hear about your health issues. for a speedy recovery.
Petra told me that my friend Lothar has debugged the electrics of my layout, so I´ll be able to run a train again when I am home. Boy, do I look forward to that!
CU next week and have a great weekend!
Good morning everybody.
Ulrich ... Good to hear from you. Lothar seems to be a very good friend, and it is nice of him to work on your layout. Only two weeks more. That's good.
Galaxy ... Richard asked you a question, and I did not see an answer from you. I'm afraid that post you made hurt some feelings. Hope you feel better soon.
As I said yesterday, this afternoon is a model train get together here.
Happy Model Rairloading.
YGW Someone in another thread told me about this jig to deal with Athearn posts in the coupler pocket sorry it's sideways, photobucket won't let me edit anything on 2 different computers. Here is the before. and afterThe coupler pocket is deep enough, unlike an old Walthers [edit] kit that already has the hole but is a couple 0.01's too thin 'A' to attach the coupler box without binding. This is one of the cars with the clip on trucks. I put a piece of red sprue in a drill and filled it round to fit the hole and then ACC's it. Then drilled a 2-56 and tapped a hole. Prior to knowing about the Athearn jig, I cut the coupler pocket off and glued a KD plate to the car test fitting prior with NOS roundhouse trucks and a KD guage to make sure I didn't need to shim the coupler box. Some car weights extend to the very end of the car. I drill, saw or grind an opening for the coupler and truck screws. I want to try my hand at some heavy weathering. The green car is an old Reading block letters on a yellow background. Maybe someone makes it now, maybe not buy I have a stash of #5 Kd's and trucks on hand so why not?

Since they did the cholescystectomy onn me some 17 years ago, I have ALWAYS been hypOglycemic.
I am now checking for hypERglycemic.
Sugar was fair at 139 this mornign before breakfast, now afterwards is 349, an average of 244 for the day.
I won't see my GP until Firday, he will have to redo the A1C and determine if I AM diabetic, or if the solumedrol steroids is temporarily causing sugar highs.
This part, the high sugar idea, is all NEW to me. I am hoping it is jus the steroids too.
Trian n ut frined is coming to help move schtuff. I am to supervise, NOT to lift a finger, but he is way late.....
Yay, I fixed it.
I had a short in one of my accessory lighting buses. Fortunately, it's a fused line so I didn't destroy anything but fuses. I popped a few before I could isolate it enough to run that subsection of the bus on a 9-volt battery and clip leads.
I've got a number of Walthers "platform lights" in my tannery scene. One of these developed an intermittent short. I'm not thrilled with the quality control on these, but usually when they go flaky they just don't work. I "fixed" the problem by just twisting it around a bit, but that's probably not going to be a permanent solution.

Hello all
Very busy day. Electrician came by and fixed some elect in the house. Finished painting the built in shelving in the study. Now I have to patch the holesparky made. In the newly painted study so I guess i need to leave the paint out a little longer ...
In regards to the Richard galaxy thing I think some of the misunderstanding may be on my part.
Initially when Galaxy and I PM each other about helping Kelly I did suggest to Galaxy that some could send it through the church and by doing so they could get a tax deduction. I susggested Galaxy send the names with the amount and a tax deduction form at the end of the year would be sent out. - Galaxy has NO INTENTION of making any gain for himself.
Richard offered to put it in the post. I said I was okay with that too. Richard was not trying to start anything.
Both Galaxy and Richard boths hearts and intentions are welling meaning and the main goal is to help somone in need. As my Pastor used to say "keep the Mian thing the Main thing". The goal like Galaxy said is to help someone who is in desperate straights. While my wife was ill with terminial cancer I can tell you many peopel helped using different formats to help to us. Anyway it came in it always had a HUGE impact on me and restored my faith, encouraged me to take the next step to survive one more day. Back then it was so bad that I kept a journal and each day had a title all of its own because it was so tough. So please keep the main thing the main thing and focus on helping SIL and her two boys and use which ever method you feel comfortable. I truct both Richard and galaxy. I know my SIL will be overwhelmed.
BO Cylinder - why did you invite Broake and How ? You know they mess everything up !
Mister B. What are you twisting to fix the problem ?
V8 - LOL What? I am so confused by that you wanted to post you know what but it is against the policy...That sounded like an old Vaudeville skit ???
Galaxy - Glad you are home ! That was pretty funny about your electrician. I guess he isnt the brightest light bulb in the bunch !
Henry - Thank you that was very good. Does the jig work well ? How are you handling the trucks ?
Garry - Howdy - See my comments above about Richards help. He actually asked in a PM.
ULRICH !! So glad to see you. I have been worried for you and have been lift up for you !
Ken - you really love you bank ! How is YOH doing ? Is the bone healing any ?
Howmus - Did you get scalped ? Looks like you have a bit less hair there ! I can relate about the snow plows and covering the mailboxes and driveways after one has just cleaned it out ! 4WDs as a friend of mine said - just get you stuck a little deeper in !
Richard - I appreciate your helping my SIL. Thank you for having a compassionate heart
Galaxy - I am sorry if this has caused you some heart burn. Please forgive me it is not Richards fault he really did ask and I dint think it would up set anyone. Again i am very sorry it was not a statement of trust. I trust you expressly.
Well my grandson is here and he wants to run my wifes N scale 060.

to those who are ill or have family illnesses
Good Evening,
A rather nippy -37 wind chill right now. There is a cold/windchill warning here as it will hit -40 by morning. It will be sunny though.
I had an interesting but not great day yesterday. I met with the Urologist and he informed me that they did find one of 12 biopsy samples with some cancer cells. Luckily it is at a very early stage. I will be getting a MRI in May and then another biopsy before a treatment plan is put together. There isn't any need for more urgency as one option is actually to do nothing except monitor. The other is to remove the prostate. Radiation used to be used a lot but now has fallen out of favour due to side effects. It seems that prostate cancer is very common and most men actually get it late in life.
I did finally get the new TV up and running. It does have a great picture and can link into the internet if I so desire. I think I will upgrade our service so we can get some HD channels.
No train news here. Not sure if I mentioned it before but 2 ex-CPR Pacifics arrived in Winnipeg in the fall. Someone from Alberta bought them in the US where one was running 15 years ago. They are being stored at the Prairie Dog Central shops. No one knows the plans for them yet as there is even secrecy about the name of the owner. I won't be buying much for my RR this year, not with the Canadian dollar being down so low. I now have to add 50% onto the price at M.B.Klein which makes things quite expensive. Luckily there isn't much that I need or want.
We had a nice evening tonight as we went out to dinner with some friends to a French bistro that is in an old train station. Had a great meal and good time.
Galaxy, glad to hear you are home. Pneumonia isn't fun and I can certainly empathize as I had it 16 years ago this month. Mine started on New Years day 2000 with a very sore throat. I didn't have to go to the hospital but I was off work for a month. My MIL's chicken soup kept me alive. Every couple of days the door bell would ring and my FIL would leave a sealer jar of it on the door step.
Keep warm,
CN Charlie

ULRICH !! So glad to see you. I have been worried for you and have been lift Angel up for you !
Big snowfall happening tonight - it was late coming, so we were spared much of the freezing rain we had been told to expect. We won't make it to church tomorrow however.
Thanks Garry or YGW, whichever of you gentlemen asked me what my goals were for this layout. That question just broke the whole thing wide open. I've scrapped the Nathans Pass based layout idea and drawn a simple plan which includes the features I was aiming for. Here's the track plan so far - and the 3D rendering in SCARM is a bit flaky as I am just learning the program. I'm thinking that either the "out in the open" loop or the mountain and tunnel on the top left could be replaced with a city scene which hides the tracks. Thoughts?
Must get to bed - I'll try to drop in tomorrow sometime....

I sound more cheerful than I am.
I have pumped in the antibiotics, hte steroids nad the anti-cough guaifenisen.
Todays wOrd:
I have a question for all you diabetics: since this is all new to me: do you guys get 'sugar highs' when your sugar is way up there, and then "crash' when your sugar drops to near normal levels?
I ask as I am not sure if steroids are doing it, or the sugar is.
Just wondering.
YGW I am using what ever I have for trucks that screw on. That includes some of the original trucks, NOS roundhouse and new kadee. A #50 drill and 2-56 tap with or without KD washers, depending on the coupler gauge. Eventually I swap out to all metal wheels.
Yesterday my coreg drove my heart rate into the low 40's and my BP in the 80's bleah. Dr. Jenny and I are going to have a discussion about this Tuesday. Hopefully she doesn't want to plug me into a pacemaker.
I am using 1/2 ply for the benchwork as in the recent MR based on this http://mrr.trains.com/how-to/get-started/2011/11/benchwork-for-your-model-railroad
It's going to be narrower 28" and maybe only 6' long. I decided to go with 48" legs instead of 42" I'm 6 foot but with foam, that looks awfully tall for the rest of the world. 46", 44"?
Big Daddy { I am Big Daddy in that I am short and FAT, not tall and large-it still seems strange seeing "my moniker" here associated with you instead, but there IS more than one "big Daddy" LOL}
I made my layout height to be between my navel and breast area, so I didnt/don't have to bend over on my bad back so much. If someone wants to see, a step stool is fine, My layout is for ME< not the "rest of the world".
Take care of your heart...mine has served me well, and has minor issues, despite having been restarted before My cardiologist and I are going to have to have a talk,as the Hospital NPs didnt wnat certain medications I am taking to be taken while there as it 'causes heart issues and you have some already". I don't know who to believe for meds naymore: hte GP, the Cardio, the Psychiatrist, etc as the meds i take are all from the different ones!
well, Id best get in the shower nd get my day started.
Train nut friend not feeling well today with chills nad fever, and my spouse did go to workbut not feeling well either, have a feeling they picked up bugs while visiting me at the hospital......
GRRR
Good Morning
Snowy and blowy here in the snowbelt. Next few days are going to be interesting around here.
Today is going to be a slow day as I need to rest my heart a little. So I will be mostly sitting at our fireplace reading some train magazines. Oh...BTW...CHF and salt do not mix.
I concur with Galaxy here...take care of that heart of yours.
I am at the cafe, sipping on my coffee, served in a golden mug (at $ 5 they´d better...) and enjoy an hour of being online again.
Galaxy - I hope you are improving soon - pneumonia is a serious issue!
Henry - with that heart rate you need to see a doctor asap! A drop to that level sent me to the floor not so long ago, waking up nearly a week later in the ICU!
I start to count the hours until I´ll be out of this place. I still have not made it to the train display, but I don´t care anymore. 4 more days of exercises, a final check-up and I will pack up my gear, reday to take the train home on Friday afternoon! Official release is on Mondays, but as there are no therapeutical things done on the weekened, I talked them into letting me go earlier.
Found a nice video in the web:

well, GOOD TO SEE ULRICH! GOod to know he done gets sprung too! I hope he IS better for it,evn if he doesn't feel it now!
spouse is due home any minute, i napped most of the morngin.
Trying to get a hold of my cousin, a long process due to the number of people in the house, hte phone is busy, SHe may even be out of town at my aunts.
don't know much else...
Afternoon folks!
Chloe, I'll have a Raison Bagel with cream cheese, a banana, and a tall glass of Cherrybundy for lunch.
I got my annual performance for my Moment for Mission over at church this morning. I was Goooooooood! If I do say so myself. I often start with a thundrouse, wake up, GOOD MORNING!!! The sound man knows to turn the mic way, way down when I start... Today I did something completely different. Since our theme this year is based on remembering the Selma Marches, I started out singing the old Underground Railroad spiritual, "I want Jesus, To walk with me." Did just the first verse. Started ppp (very soft) and built to fff (very loud) by the third phrase, and then brought it back down to ppp at the end. I also know the style well... (Was a professional singer for 48 years.) When I had finished every person in the congregation (packed today) was totally silent and just riveted on me. Then I gave the talk about the Scholarship fund and how most of the recipients over the years were the first in their families to ever go to college... Went back to where the family was sitting and my 8 year old grandaughter came over with the biggest eyes I have ever seen and gave me a huge hug!!! That made my day big time!!! One fellow after church told me, "You sure got my attention!" I said, "Good! That was what I was trying to do..."
I have caught up on all the work I can get done for the service tomorrow and so I shall head out to my Son's house to give Granddaughter #1 a guitar lesson (I told her at church that i didn't think I would be able to come over tonight, and I thought she was going to cry....), will have dinner and then back here to get everything else done for tomorrow.
Galaxy, hope you are felling better today. Your message sounds a bit more relaxed!
Good Afternoon
Snowsqualling right now and we are now 13F.
Here the diet is low salt, low cholesterol, low carbs ... that sort of thing. Still my weight is 155lbs.
BO Cylinder - I havent seen 155 since 9th grade. What is CHF ?
Howmus - What type of pro singing do you do ?
Big Daddy - what trucks do you think you will eventually change to ?
Der - That was me/ Is that a Y at the lower end ? Will you install a round house ? Will there be buisnesses along the way that need PU and delivery ? What type of manufactures ? Soley freight ? Passenger svc ?
CN Charie - minus 37 ? oh geez !
Ulrich - Happy to hear about your soon to be set free !
Ken way to go !!!
YGW. Congestive Heart Failure. My heart does not pump blood so well.
blownout cylinder YGW. Congestive Heart Failure. My heart does not pump blood so well.
I have somewhat the opposite problem. My heart wants to pump before it is supposed to!
PVC-Premature Ventricular Complexes- I call Them "spasms" as that is what it feels like ot me, causing me to feel like i will pass out, the DRs call them "palpatations"...but when it does it, it's no picnic-my heart doesnt just go "pitter patter" {LOL}...."Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are extra, abnormal heartbeats that begin in one of your heart's two lower pumping chambers (ventricles). These extra beats disrupt your regular heart rhythm, sometimes causing you to feel a flip-flop or skipped beat in your chest."
I also am tachycardic. "Tachycardia is a faster than normal heart rate at rest. A healthy adult heart normally beats 60 to 100 times a minute when a person is at rest. If you have tachycardia (tak-ih-KAHR-dee-uh), the heart rate in the upper chambers or lower chambers of the heart, or both, is increased. Heart rate is controlled by electrical signals sent across heart tissues. Tachycardia occurs when an abnormality in the heart produces rapid electrical signals."
These are minor issues, and not exactly lifethreatening, {though when in action one can feel that}. Basically in many manners, my heart simply doesnt beat properly when/like it should.
In either case, if not controlled by medication it can lead to other porblems, and a constant irregular heartbeat is nothing to sneeze at or be dismissed lightly.
{{Gee, I wonder, since these problems started after CPR restarted myheart in 1997, I wonder if thte 4 shocks did some "damage"?}}.
I also know i HAD a 32% blockage in at least one heart vessel as I had a full cardio inspection some years ago to help determine WHY I was having the palpatations. They woulnd't do anything about it as it wasn't at least 75% blocked...so somewhere I will have bypass, angio, stents, soemthing or other installed if the blockage continued to grow....which it probaby has. Cholesterol meds can only do so much.
ONly me and My Cardiologist know for sure, and we're not tellling...yet!
I am STILL drowning in my own fluid. Doesnt seem to be any breakup and discharge ofthe mucus. HTe meds only do so much.....and not enough. I will see my GP on FRiday, but I have a sneaky suspicion that I am now a "walking pneunomia" case, That is usually where i START with pneumonia. I am OUT of antibiotic Tues, and the steroids will last anothter 8 days but the OTC guaifenisen doens;t do much,,,the super strength at the hospital did {I think}.
Well, rest well you guys, we have a big day tomororow, no matter what your schedule is!
I think its time ofr another nap......
Evenin' folks,
Janie, just a hot cup of decaf for me at the moment.
Just got home from son's house where I gave my grandaughter a guitar lesson, and had a very nice turkey dinner. Played one game of bowling on Wii and then headed home to see if I had more information to get ready for the Service tomorrow (art and Poetry). The lady in charge of the Art and Poetry Contest this year called me about 10 minutes after I left the house. I called her back when I got home, and she is on her way home from rochester... She wasn't driving, her husband was. She did tell me that Rochester, NY is a mess as they are getting the old Lake Effect stuff tonight. She does have some new info for me to get done and will send me an email as soon as she arrives home... I do hope things don't get too bad in Rochester as our speaker has to drive down from there tomorrow morning early!
yougottawantaHowmus - What type of pro singing do you do ?
Most people call it "Classical". You know operatic stuff, Mozart, Verdi, stuff like that. Have done some concerts with everything from German Lied, English Art songs, Italien love songs, traditional folk music, and some pop music, accompanied by piano, guitar or full orchestra. Sang many, many weddings over the years, Soloist with some major choruses, church solos, choir and other ensembles director, private teacher of voice, guitar, led music camps, and taught Public School Music, vocal and general for 32 years. Composer and arranger of a few pieces (almost got some things published at one point....). I can sing in most styles of music except the screaming and using a lot of foul words that seems to be popular today.... Probably could that, but I only sing what I like (unless I got paid a lot...). Your question should be in the past tense, BTW. Other than what I did this morning at church, my singing days are done. Being Deaf is a real pain.
I studied and got my degree at the Eastman School of Music, U of R, in Rochester, NY. My Artist Teachers there were Anna Kaskas (Lead Contralto at the Met back in the 1930's and was the alto for several years in their broadcast quartet), then studied with John Maloy who was a lead tenor at LaScala in Italy at one time. He was also Renée Fleming's Artist Teacher. You may have heard her sing the National Anthem at Last year's Super Bowl.... I am one of only two Undergraduate, Education Majors in the history of the Eastman School to have my name up in lights on Eastman Theater (I was the Bass soloist in the Kodaly Te Deum my Sr. Year), the other was an Oboeist that some on here may have heard of... His name was Mitch Miller.....
Sad thing for me, is this is the time of life that the plan was for me to be out singing professionaly weekends in Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo, etc. making some good $$$. Unfortunately my youth driving tractors, trucks, and other heavy equipment around the farm caught up with me. Most of the things I was driving did not have mufflers on them. My audiologist says that is why I am deaf today!
OK, done way too much bragging for one night, but you asked...
Hope all of you have a great night! Prayers for all in need.....
