Jim ... Thanks for commenting about the truck.
Ray .... I guess my White truck brought back a scary memeory.
Frank ... Glad you like the White truck. As you have said parts are fragile. The front bumper is glued back together with super glue. The front axle broke, and I made another by filing down a strip of styrene..... Sorry to hear about the storm damage. How long will it take to repair?
Ken ... there must be other body shops. Again, you are very talented.
YGW ... We will continue pulling for Kelly and your family.

Got My Christmas Shopping Done. Pretty much blew my budget and my Christmas Bouns on Shawn, Sharon, Sparkie (The Rocket Dog and Sue. Hum, 4 S's in a row.
Shawn (Son I L) gets a Screw Driver Bit Set, tube of glue, 3 PK 2000 rolling stock kits and $25.00
Sharon (Daughter) Gets some Star Wars Figuers (At age 43 she still loves Star Wars) and $25.00.
Sue (Wife) Gets a Kohl's Gift Card worth $25.00 and $25.00 cash.
Sparkie (The Rocket Dog) gets a dog bed and $25.00. Not sure what he will do with it? Sure the wife will have some ideas.
What did I get? Stopped by K-10 model trains to buy some glue for Shawn. While I was there, I bought my self a few things.
1 Atlas Turnout Snap Motor and Switch Controler.
2 Used Blue Box B&O GP 35 for $14.95, hope it has a low Amp number.
3 Used Blue Box B&O 3 bin coal car for $2.95
4 Used Blue Box Chessie B&O Cabosse for $6.95

Why I am no longer in the body shop business, long store. When I started working there you where judge by your numbers. After the owner died, butt kissing was the order of business! Guess I did not pucker well, but my numbers where good. Problem is they flat lined, but at a profit! New Evil Overlord (Jim Smith) bounes was based on Increase In Sale, not Profit! I was canned 3 times, new Gift To God would tank the shop (-$15,000 to -$30,000) net lose. I would be asked back and get the net profit up to $75,000 (to home offices, not shop level) the Evil Overlord lost his bouns from my shop so I was canned again! I was asked to come back a 4th time, but I told the something I cannot type here!
Later, Ken

The pledges are sloly coming in, I'd suspect we are going to reach the 1 k mark before the year is out.

Merry Christmas to all.
In the process of finishing up Christmas baking. Cinnamon rolls are in the oven and the orange rolls just came out and were frosted and ready for breakfast at the daughters house in the morning. As soon as the rolls are done I have to get ready to go join my church choir for evening service.
Garry, the truck looks great.
Frank, sorry to hear about your weather damage. I think we came close last night but front moved about 20 miles south with the 70 MPH winds. We just had hard rain which resulted in having to shop vac up water under the layout this morning. Sure glad I built all my bench work legs with extended leveling bolts which keeps the wood out of the water when the basement leaks.
Uhlrich, thanks for the Christmas music.
Hope everyone has a joyous Christmas Day!

We had some tremendously heavy duty rain, followed by really weird wind late last night...could have maybe even been the tail end of a tornado...Its happened before here...20 yrs. ago, it took out two weeping willow trees in My back yard....unfortunately....this year it got My house.....took out a large swatch of shingles on the South east side of My house, about 4ft x 25ft and evergreen trees and two flag poles from the Memorial Vet. lot next door. My roof is only 7yrs. old. Got a roofer coming out Sat. to repair it and anything else, I can find.

Hi guys
Yet another moving day. Train nut friend helped.
Thanks Ray,!
We are now to $550 with 3 unknowns on the way.
!!!!?!!
Thanks guys
Gotta go return the uhaul.
angelob6660It takes me 3 different days to watch a full movie or any activity for that matter. My brain losses interest and decides to do something else. The total opposite when I watch train videos, if I get to comfortable on a chair I fall asleep with the smoothing sounds of locomotives. It must be old age right?? Am I alone?
Nope - you are not alone! I have given up watching TV for that reason.
8pm and I feel like going to bed.
Here is tonight´s song:
Good afternoon diners,
I finished wrapping up the Christmas presents, I was going to skip it this year because of no interest of wasting paper.
I was going to watch the new Star Wars movie, but than I realized I would get bored half way through. It takes me 3 different days to watch a full movie or any activity for that matter.

Mornin' folks! (It was when i started this a while ago.)
Zoe just a cup of Marrakesh Express Dark Roast Coffee please.
I have been busy cooking down the Butternut Squash to make my famous baked winter squash recipe for Christmas dinner at my Son's house tomorrow. Starting to clean house today as well. Will need to open a couple windows shortly as it is 73°F inside the house at the moment. Currently 64*F outside on this Springlike chrsitmas Eve here in the Finger Lakes Region. Kinda reminds me of visiting family in Flowidah over the Holidays many years ago.... Will be spending time starting to clean house today as well. The Children's Christmas Eve Service at Church starts at 4PM. I will attend to hear my granddaughters sing in the service and sit with family. Then i will go over to their house for supper. Back over for breakfast and gift exchange tomorrow morning, back home to bake the squash and then back to their house for Christmas Dinner mid afternoon... I will be the "Official" Photographer for their families flury of opening wayy too many presents. A family tradition I guess. Saturday I will be at my sister's house along with my son and his family for her Christmas doings.
Garry, I like the White tractor. I drove a couple like that when I was a kid. (Used to help Don Howard and his crew load hay onto a tractor-trailer when I was 9 years old...) One of my favorite old flatbed trucks was a White-Rio cab over that was really cool because it didn't have any brakes except the emergency on the floor.... It had a two speed rear axil that once stuck when like an idiot I tried to see what it would do in high range and it stuck half way between low and high.... I then found out the hand brake was between the transmission and the axil. Found myself freewheeling down the road at 40 mph... I managed to swing it in to the old equipment place at Don Howard's Farm Equipment and drive it into a pile of dirt he had sitting there. It then went back into low range and this very, very scared kid left it there, parked the truck, and walked back home! Didn't tell my dad about that one for many years!
Sun is trying to shine and I have w*rk to do. Catch you all later!

Good Evening!
I am back from taking my son to the train station. We had an enjoyable afternoon with a delicious meal and some good talk. Santa came early today and we exchanged the few gifts there are. I got a nice 2016 steam loco calendar, which came with two small copies of enamel railroad advertising signs of the 1930´s, plus a book about "Molli", that´s the steam train on the Baltic Sea coast near Rostock. The gift I had for Petra (a new wrist watch) has not yet arrived
We will now have a rather quiet evening, filled with memories of the good times we had.
I am still a little sad we cannot have the family Christmas I always looked for.
YGW - thanks for the picture!
Have a nice Christmas Eve!
It's going to be close to 70 degrees here in New England for Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, the warmer weather has been delayed a but (airport delays over New York, no doubt) so it's still only in the 50s. I won't be taking a bike ride, probably just a walk. About the time the "heat wave" gets here, we will be on the road to Old Orchard Beach in Maine to spend the holiday with our daughter.
I went out to a different local music club last night. I ended up sitting with the band and some of their friends, and once again, I have the urge to play music. Maybe I'll do something about it.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

I posted in Weekend Photo Fun pictures of my 1/87 Edsel and the White tractor I just built to go with the livestock trailer. .. Below is the White tracotr.
Frank ... If you are looking in, what do you think of it ?
Merry Christmas, everybody.
Good Morning everyone !
First day of Christmas vacation. I am cooking breakfast for the family. You are welcome to join in if you wish ! We are having cinnamin buns ( yummy !) sausage links, biscuits, eggs and REAL bacon. MOH usually makes us eat that fake turkey stuff because it doesnt clogg up atreries. BUT wally world was ALL OUT last night when I went so we get a treat and REAL bacon ! So grab a plate and come help yourself !! Breakfast is on me .
Jeremy - Lasagna for Christmas ? Hmmm never tried that. Is your family from Italian back ground ? My Aunt is second generation Italian - Man can she cook !!! She is beautiful, Awsome personality, loves God and family - My uncle did good picking her !
Ken - I had a 68 charger but it only had a 318. I had to do a total rebuild on the car. Rebuilt the enginge, replace the tranny and rear end. Always had electric problems especially with the voltage requlator. Went through one about every two months. Still I loved that car. If I could find one now that didnt cost a gazillion dollars I would buy one in a New York minute !
Why did you get out of the body work buisness ?
Garry thank and I enjoyed the PM. Feel free to send any anytime.
Ulrich - Sent you another email.
Every year for Christmas I buy one locomative for myself. Funds being what they are and helping out with SIL family and anoyuther couple in Church who is going through a really rough time the funds are limited. So this year I found an Stewart N&W Alco C630 #1133. It was lower than the others being offered but more than I wanted to pay. So I contacted teh seller and made an offer thirty dollars lower than the asking price - SURPRISE - he accepted ! I couldnt believe it. I had just resigned myself to no locomative this year. Well what a wonderful turn of events.
Well the Bacon is almost done so let me go get them out of the pan and I will touch base later.
The breakfast bell has rung so come on and eat. Oh Barry you gotta leave some for the stragglers !

My MIL is Italian so an Italian feast, including lasagna, is part of our family's Christmas Eve traditions. Good times.

Happy Christmas Eve morning guys
i have to work today, only until 2 though. We go to my parents tonight for dinner ( we have lasagana on Christmas Eve ) and then after that we will come home and watch a Christams movie. I hope to pop back in later this afternoon or tonight.
We're up late tonight.
Ken... You certainly are talented with body shop work. I'm thinkng it is a shame your talents are not being used. .... Sounds like Shawn is a good Son In Law .... I just realized SIL is either a Son in Law or a Sister in Law. I can figure out which one Shawn is.
Ray .... Looks like you are on the home stretch with your fabulous bridge.
YGW ... Of course, we Diners care about Kelly and her family.
Galaxy ... Your efforts are commendable. I'll see if I can find an old PM thread with youto reach you with. I am unable to start a new one.
Flo, Beer Please
Just sipping a brew watching the trains run forgetting my problems. Trains are running well and I am enjoying them and thinking about Christmas. For some reason no matter where I work Christmas time is a lean time of the year for me $ wise. This year is the same.
My total budget this year is $75.00 for my wife, daughter and Shawn my new SIL. Shawn has busted his caboose working around my house so I would like to do something extra for him, but lack of funds? Well you get the idea.
Shawn likes Model Railroad's and has had a few layout, so I would like a gift train related. My daughter on the other hand (Like most females) think they are a waste of money! You should have seen the look of Horror on her face when she found out I have a $600.00 steam engine! Yet she has a $500.00 smart phone?
Question IS Should I give Shawn a Train Related Present? I have around 6 Proto 2000 rolling stock kits I was given. I have no need in anymore rolling stock. Do you think I will start a War this Christmas if I give Shawn some of the Rolling Stock as Gifts?
Yes Gary, I did that 68 Charger when I ran the Body Shop. While I was the manager, I did all of the Speical Mopars my self.
Okay officially finished with the Christmas shopping. An unexpected blessing. We didnt get any bonuses this year BUT our company gave us off starting Thursday and we are off until Jan 4th. Paid ! We do not have to use any vacation or sick leave.
Howmus - Broccoli this time of year !! Yesterday my friend who does free lance mechanic work returned my mower ( blew the engine up late this year ) he had rebuilt the engine with a short block. I actually mowed some of the yard in a test run. There was actually grass to be cut ! I remember in my youth several warm Christmas/Jan.
V8 - On the subject of taxes- Here they have sales tax, property tax on homes and the hated vehicle tax ( this one is really despised ) and now the taxes on the utility bills is MORE than the utility !!
Charlie - Shoveling snow already !!!??? Man isnt that something. Howus is still gardening and can cut grass and you are shoveling snow ! Amazing
Der - nice background and I always appreciate " Merry Christmas" after all this is the reason we are given a few days off, shop to give gifts to commerate the wise men given gift to the baby Jesus....Thanks for actually saying Merry Christmas.
Ulrich - congrats on the 7777. That is an amazing amount of post.
Who has the highest count here in the forum ?
Well I am gonna browse around the forum and check out some other post. Just in case I dod not log back in before Christmas - Merry Christmas to one and all.
Evenin' folks!
Janie, I just need another cup of decaf to tide me over to bedtime....
Today has been a catch up with as many things needing to get done as I can day... Got the last presents wrapped and ready to take to the Christmas Gatherings. Wrote a couple checks for promised funds (church and MLK). OH, I did something that I have never done before in my 69 years of life before. I have lived all my life here in the North. 11 years in the Southern Tier of NYS, 2 years over in Western NY when I taugh in Elba, and all the rest right here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS. You all know that I always have a nice vegetable Garden out back. Today, on the 23rd. of December, I went out and picked some fresh broccoli from the garden and had it for supper. Yep fresh broccoli growing out there in late December! I have had fresh broccoli for Thanksgiving but not Christmas (and yes I will be taking a bag out to my DIL then). Tomorrow the temp here is supposed to get up to 65°F..... Hmmmmmmmmmm........? Broccoli was good too! Suppose I should mow my lawn one last time for the year...... Nah!
I even found some time to work on the Girder Bridge. Yesterday I touched up all the spots on the painting that the spray paint didn't reach and today have cut, stained, and installed the ties. Four of the ties are PC ties that will be painted just as soon as the rails are installed which is the next step. If I have measured correctly the longest and largest of my equipment should clear the sides of the girders and it will be good to put on the layout as soon as the area is ready for it.
Tomorrow I will cook down the winter squash for Christmas Dinner and then again for the meal at my sister's house on Saturday. Then I have a couple days to clean house (and does it need it!) before some guests stop over to see the layout next week.
Keeping many of you and your families in my prayers tonight! Be blessed and hang in there....
Good evening (at least in my neck of the woods), men ( and any Ladies):
I/we have raised $450.00 so far and I have 3 unknown pledges made or on the way! We are off to a great start! Let's keep them coming! We CAN do it!
It may not be enough to pay the medical bills, but there are other needs and bills to pay. If you never have, try imagining loosing EVERYTHING you own, and having to start over. I have lost everything twice and started over 3 times completely I'm my life
Once a house fire, once home invasion, and losing everything and becoming homeless, so I understand greatly. Nothing like not having anything with no place to go.
Even our C friends to the N are helping!
Like to see it!
Thanks to all who have/are/will contribute!
-G
Mornin'... Well, I missed the morning here by a few minutes I guess.
Zoe. I'll just have a fresh pot of Marrakeshy Express Darki Roast Coffee to get me a bit more awake.
Dark and Gray outside at the moment. Current temp is 55°F with some rain showers this afternoon. High should be around 58°F. Some sun should appear tomorrow and on Christmas they say....
I have two more gifts to get wrapped and I will be finished doing that chore for the season. Will cook down the Winter Squash for the Christmas dinner out at my son's house, and more for the get togather at my sister's house on Saturday. She is still upset that my DIL's family doesn't change all their plans so SHE can host Christmas dinner at her house for My son's family and me.... After all SHE is far more important than my son's MIL and that family!!!! She just doesn't get it. I don't give her any support for that kind of thing. Since I don't have the wood stove any more and the temp is supposed to be 46°F on Saturday I don't have to transport a load of wood to her house for her fireplace...... ("You're a mean one... Mr. Grinch...!")
Catch you all later!
Good Morning,
It is very white outside as we got hit with another winter storm. Likely be at least 15cm. when it is all done and then the wind will blow it all about. Lucky we went out yesterday and did our errands. Christmas prep today which largely means my wife will be wrapping. We are going out to my SIL's for dinner on the day and no one is coming over so not a lot to do.
John(der) please say hello to Greyfox from me. I remember him well. He did send me the odd PM but I lost his e-mail address.
Well time to do a few things. I have to change a headlight bulb in the car. According to the manual it shouldn't be too difficult. You have to remove the whole headlight assembly to do it though. After that I need to shovel a path for Robbie in the backyard as he was up to his armpits this morning.
I may do some RR stuff too. I have just about finished the 2 Athearn heavyweight kits I picked up at the trainshow in the fall. I put interiors in them and also lights using those Easy Peasy units. Next will be to paint and assemble a Dairy Queen kit I just acquired.
Have a good day,
CN Charlie
fec153YGW- Our prayers go out to you and your S I L and the children and the rest of the family. Will be added to Prayer list in Miami by M I L. Best wishes- Phil and Deb
Flip! Long time no see - but then I've been out of the loop. I just (really - minutes ago) sent Dick (Greyfox to you Coffee Shop survivors LOL) YGW's detailed update and a backgrounder.
Heartland Division CB&QDid you say those models are made of Legos ?
Garry - incredible, but true! I was really awed by some of the creations I found on the web. I have downloaded the Lego Design tool and will try my hand at designing a loco - just for the fun of it! There are so many new parts (bricks) available these days which hadn´t been around in my childhood time.
Edit: Time to celebrate my post # 7,777 - Zoe, whatever these chowhounds are going to order - it´ll be on me for the day (yes, that includes Barry´s Barry-sized things as well).
Good morning .
Not much new on the railroad today. We went to Paducah for dinner and shopping yesterday afternoon and evening. I did not even stop at the LHS.
YGW .... Returned the PM...
Ken .... The blue car looks terrific. Is that one you did when you worked at the body shop?
Ulrich ... I'm glad you have Lother and Claus to help you with your layout. ... Did you say those models are made of Legos ?
Good Afternoon!
I am just home from a short walk, as the weather turned out to be nice today, which means no rain ...
We are more or less all set for the holidays - a few finishing touches will have to be done tomorrow. The afternoon will be a lazy one - run thge afternoon train on the layout, search the web for train vids and look for more Lego inspirations. You know, this could become a new hobby for me as my dexterity has suffered a lot this year. Without the help of Claus and Lothar, I won´t be able to finish my layout. I am sure they don´t mind helping me, but I hate to depend on help.
I wish I could get some of that Lego stuff to take with me when I am going to the rehab place. It would do me a lot of good to build something like this:
or this:
Continuing for Kelly and her boys!
Morning all
Galaxy love the CS Lewis qoutes. Have you ever read his life ? Pretty incredible. The qoute " Has this world been so kind...." resonates with me. Not that I am ready to leave anytime soon. But the promise of what heaven is to be like is comforting. No pain, no heartache, no tears or sorrow...where the streets are paved with gold, gates of pearls etc...God has said it is so wonderful our minds cannot comprehend it.
Lion - thanks for letting me sit with you. Sometimes having a friend just sit and keep one company is nice.
Angel, Jim, Phil, Deb, Ulrich, Howmus, V8, Angel, Der, B;lownout cylinder, Garry... good morning can I serve you a stack of chocolate pancakes with real maple syrup ? Or perhaps I can order you some of lions sticky buns ?
Garry - I responded to your PM.
