Happy New Years!!
Boy...Remind me never to go to the grocery store on New Years Eve!! It was nuts out there!! [bang]
The traffic was nuts. The people in the grocery store were insane. Some times I wonder about why I do this to myself... [bang]

Happy New Years Dinners!
Flo, Beer Plases
2015 has been a mixed blessing year. Personally I am glad to see it over with 4 and a half hours.
Good Side While it was still way to little, I have made more money than I had in the past 2 years.
Down Side Sue health is going down the tubes. With her mental state, I don't for see her getting any better. What little I made extra over the last 2 years, her medical bills ate that up and them some.
I still have a lot to feel gratefull for. While my health is not great, I am still in better shape than many folks here! I still have a job, but I am starting to look. I have a wife that loves me and is faith full.
Now if I can only get the Trains to behave I be a happy Man!
Happy New Years!

This morning we went over to my parents' house for the next-to-the-last Christmas gift exchange. My parents surprised me by giving me a train they had bought in Germany when they were there over 20 years ago.

Hi Gang, for the last time in 2015.. That old man is on his way out. I bet a lot of you are glad about that fact with all the troubles that we have fought through this past year.
So I won't stay long and interupt your celbrating, but I do want to wish all of you the best of everyhting in 2016. May it be a year full of promise, health, prosperity and happiness, that you all truly deserve. May the problems that arise all be small insignificant ones that are easily handled.
Prayers and blessings to all who stand in need and especially for Kelly.
Till later Gang, and remember don't drive and drink or drink and drive either, and watch out for the ones out there that do. They are idiots.

Evenin' folks and a Happy New Year to each of you as the hour rings in!
Today was a blast at the Rochester Museum and Science Center... The Granddaughters sure had a blast. I got home with them and their Dad about 4PM and will be leaving in just a few minutes to join everyone out at their house for the annual watch the ball drop and the saxiphones wail.... Oh I guess that band doesn't play them anymore.... Wouldn't mind, but the crap they replaced it with is even worse.....
[color=red]Angelo[/color} I knew you weren't talking G Scale... Just thought you should tell your dad that would the only choice for outside and would he finance it for you.....
Hope the new year will be a great pone for each of you!

We'll get there sooner or later!
Hello all,
Happy last day of 2015, and last night at the diner. It's been quite a year for many of us I am sure.
I am working the 3pm-11pm shift at work tonight, and that's okay by me. After work, I'll get home, watch the ball-drop, drink a bit of champaigne, and calling it a night as I have to be at work 7am tomorrow morning.
I finished a Red Caboose PRR REA X29 kit last night. It took me 5-hours, though I take much time making these kits, though feel like I could slap them together more quickly several years ago. I have two more to go, and I'm hoping one day to build up quite a few more overtime. Though, if I come across a ready to run model or several, I will buy them too. Especially if I find any with the Creco doors and flat panel, over dreadnought ends.
I aquired three Walther's Pfaudler wood milk cars recently, and they're neat models, though drilling out all the holes for the grab irons takes a lot of time. I do so by hand as I don't like using the Dremel. I use #79 drill bits as I found those to be a bit more durable, plus cut through the plastic faster than #80 drill bits. For painting the grab irons, I used PRR buff, instead of the dark green of the body color. May not have been how the prototype did it, but it looks cool, and it goes with the lettering nicely. If I get tired of it, I can always paint to match the body color. I don't mind the Walthers models with the modeler installed grab irons. It's time consuming but it feels like one accomplished something and made it a little more personalized. I also installed and painted grab irons on a B60b and R50b, and have one more milk car, another R50b, and another B60b to complete that way as well. Polly-Scale PRR Tuscan worked nicely for painting the grab-irons. One B60b already has the grab irons painted, they just need to be installed.
While walking down to my basement carrying some train stuff down stairs. I slipped and a box carrying a just arrived BLI express reefer car, hit the floor, the model came out of the box, also hit the floor, with the coupler getting the worst of it. The impact also scuffed the buffer on the model. The plastic box cover broke in two. If the worst that happened is a broken coupler and a box top needing replacement, I think I am doing okay.
Happy New Year everyone!
Good afternoon Diners: Haven't seen much on this page (17 just to clarrify) yet, so please forgive ommissions if I have to leave before commenting on something important.
CNCharlie I also enjoy mincemeat tarts. I managed to pick up a couple of boxes of Walkers brand from a local specialty grocery. I'm willing to bet John knows about mincemeat tarts and Walkers of Scotland.
I have my w*rk cut out for me as I downloaded the SCARM program forlayout planning - and I'm just beginning to play with it. My cutting out of the Nathans Pass track plan has shown me that while the hack I want is doable, I need to move things about a fair bit. So....
Well, I see by the clock on the wall that it's time to get ready for dinner. I don't know if I'll be in later, so in case I'm not, Oh, also forgot to say that February'S MR came today, along with another Popular Science to add to the astromony mag which is now a traditional gift around this time of year!
"There are always alternatives, Captain" - Spock.
Nearly 3 hours to go in the old year, but I don´t think I will be staying up to greet the new year. I am just too tired for that.
See you all next year!
Afternoon guys
just watching the world junior hockey tournament right now. Not much plan for tonight. I hope everybody here has a great New Years.
Howmus- We're not talking about G Scale. I wish I was, he wanted my N Scale instead.
YGW- You heard right outside, but I'm not risking my N Scale equipment. It's a dumb plan so I cancelled it.
Well my mom came home yesterday, my brother picked her up from the airport. The solution was worse when she was visiting her and that dog.
Amtrak America, 1971-Present.
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, just another refill of the Seneca Lake blend dark raost coffee please.
I'm all set and just waiting for my son to get here with the girls. i will be driving to the museum as it is a lot less costly to use the PiP than his old car. Plus his old car is starting to be on it's last legs... besides the girls love to ride in Papa's car.
YGW, the pain of loss does dull with time (I don't spend every day sobing like I did for the first 6 months) and I have a lot more good memories that have become more of a comfort to me. That said, yes I still miss her terribly!
Best be getting ready to leave... Have to feed the kitties, put up the back seats in the PiP, and pack my camera. Looking forward to having a great day with them!
Catch you all later!
YGW - it is indeed heartbraking to see this list of injuries and to know that your nephews have to cope with seeing their mother in such a state. Continuing prayers.
I finally got around assembling the kit my son gave me for my birthday in August. It´s not completely finished yet, I still need to put up the chimney and the downspouts from the gutters. I have stopped for the day because my fingers are all gummed up with glue.
Our friend "JaBear" is already 3 1/2 hours into the year 2016 and I have a little less than 8 1/2 hours left...
Morning Dinners
Flo, big cop of please
Feeling a little better this morning. I think I was asleep yesterday a round 7:00 PM.
Train Front Far as three days off in a row, it was a total bust. Did not get the turnout motors installed or wired. I did stop by K-10 Model Trains yesterday and trade the new switch machine in for 2 more switch control boxes.
B&O Collection While I was there I looked through the Pre-owned B&O equipment I spoke about last week. I was amazed how much B&O stuff was there! Came across 2 Bachmann DCC On Board engines, a B&O GP 30 and a B&O GP 7. I got both for $52.00 with taxe. I should not have bought them, but well you know how it is! I felt so bad yesterday, I did not even run them. I have high hopes for the GP 7, it has some weight to it.
Just got back in from walking Sparkie and just about time to feed Sue.
Good morning all !
Ulrich - One of the pieces of Wisdom I have discovered in life is that the trials make the Laughter that much more sweeter.
Howmus - Wow it sounds like your SIL has found a good one !! Question for you and if you dont want to answer I will understand. All these years later after loosing your best half does it still hurt like it used too ? I completely understand the tears. There are times even today that sometimes when I am alone and come across something from MOH who passed away that the tears still well up.
Angel - WHAT move it outside ????OMGosh !
Garry , UP 831 - Thanks please keep them coming.
Ken - you know I thknk you should get Sue a little bell to ring when she needs you JUST KIDDING
BO Cylinder - what is shiveree ? Tea biscuits ?
Galaxy - Your "Temptation " qoute reminds of the thing Apostle Paul wrote - the things I should do I dont do and the things I shouldnt do I do....
Charlie - your comment about your old Vista commuter brought back flashbacks of Jeff who was always messing with some ancient computer...
Richard - OM Gosh I loved that !!! LOL when I saw the muscians on the flat car - so AWSOME ! I LOVE Cellos. Have you heard the two guys "Two Cellos" They do this skit where they play "thunderstruck in front of 18th century folks in a theater it is a hoot ! Then they play this one song I think from U2 I cant live with out you. That one touches me soooo deeply. It makes me think of MOH who passed away. THANK YOU for sharing that video I admire people who can play music. I couldnt carry a tune in a bucket with a gun pointed at my head
Train front - I bid on ebay a " J " Bachmann Spectrum which started off at an extremely low price of $25. I won it at $75. I am wondering if there is something wrong with the description ? Is it a dummy vs. an actual running unit, not running etc.. well we will soon find out.
SIL front - last nigtht we picked up my two nephews. On the hour and a half drive home we had our three girls and my two nephews with us. I just listened as we drove to all of the banter between the kids. Eventually the boys spoke about their mother and the visit to ICU. It was heart breaking ! It started off " you wouldnt want to see my Mom...she has a pipe sticking out of her throat ...her skin is rolled back....(burned area ) ...she has plates holding her wrist .....she is scarry...
I tell you as a father of children that choked me up and was hard to listen to knowing what they have had to endure. SIL brain injuries are pretty severe. She has short term memory loss, strangely fixates on stuff for days.....stitches everywhere....its going to be a very long road ahead.
Pease continue to pray and thanks for the prayers already lifted up to heaven.
YGW

Sir Madog Good Morning! December 1st, 2015 - the last day of a rather challenging year. A year with many a departure, but no arrivals on my side. A year with a number of health issues I had to cope with, but also a year of friendship and great help I have received from you folks! Looking back on the year, I truly can say it has been a good one. Now let´s see what the next one will be like! I am sure there will be sorrow and grief, but I am also sure there will be joy and happiness. It´s up to us to grab it! Have a safe passage into the new year!

It has been an "interesting" year for us as well. Health being the major issue with me lately. Have a great New Years Evening!!!
------------------------------------------------------------
Dull dull and dull is our word for today. Supposed to get to the mighty goose egg then fall to 26 by evening here...oh...a 40% chance of little tiny snowflurries as well.
Tonight both of us are heading to church and getting home in time for the Potluck here...this year our neighbour to the north of us are hosting it...
I got up early this morning because I still have things to get for tonight...sigh.
Chloe, I'll have a couple of eggs scrambled with some potatoe wedges and coffee please...I''ll be at the RC for now.
Evenin' folks!
Janie, just a refill for my Decaf please....
Today went very well. Turns out the SIL's new boyfriend is an avid model railroader and works on 1:1 scale steam locomotives! We got along great. When we got done talking trains, the subject turned to Solar Panels... He wants them on his house but needs to learn more before he takes the plunge. hopefully I gave him an understandable explaination about how net metering works and for most circumstances is a better choice than "off the grid". They stayed about two hours.
Ken, I meant to mention that I hope Sue has a short and uneventful recovey from her injuries! Sure not a fun day for either of you!
Angelo, does that mean your dad is buying you "G" scale trains???? Tell him that is the best for outside! Hopefully in a few years you will be on your own and can put up your layout wherever you want. Of course then you may have an OH (Other half) and little kids running around that will limit what can be done. Life is like that........
Tomorrow, the Grandaughters and their dad and "Papa" (me) will be heading out to a Science Museum in Rochester for the day (to get them out of their Mother's way so she can clean house before everyone shows up for New Years eve at their house. Grandpa is always willing to help when it comes to spending the day with two beautiful little girls... I gave the family a membership at the museum for Christmas and it arrived today in the mail.
Test fitted the bridge today after the company left. It is coming along well.
Hope to be in for breakfast before we leave in the morning! Catch you then.
Will I discussed the layout with my dad and he said. We can do next year, but not with the Santa Fe. He wants me to use my modern equipment and build it outside.
The problem is, after we build it; it stays outside with a tarp. Sense there's no room in the house. After that brain storm I cancelled the idea. I do not want ants, spiders, roaches, beatles, grasshoppers, crickets, and anything else I might missed. It's totally a bad idea.
Howdy
posting with iPhone in Michigan .. Glad we waited to drive yesterday because weather was okay .
Food for New Year's Eve ? I'm our family it has typically been birthday cake. Two of our five kids share December 31 as their birthday. (Not same year. )
YGW. Continued prayers for Kelly.

Evening Dinners
Flo, Beer please.
Home Front While Sue won't say she is feeling better she has gotton around the house some today. Mainly to tell me what she wants me to do for her! She is on her own Thursday, I have to get back to work.
My Self? Feel like cabosse.
Later, Ken
Afternoon Diners,
I tried to wait till tomorrow, but who knows. Steve, our family is half Italian and Mexican but we don't have a New year's eve or day special dinner.
I bought the second to last of the Conrail SD80.
Earlier today I thought about the Santa Fe 1950s layout. Since I said in January or February "I would have a finished layout by the end of the year. (Conrail) " Which that didn't happened.
My mom is coming back home from visiting her daughter in Virginia. Her plane lands at 11:30 at night. So I'll she her tomorrow when I wake up.
Good Afternoon!
What a surpise! My friend Lothar showed up and helped me do the wiring! We are almost done - all the blocks are properly wired, the power supply installed and wired and the lighting fixtures for the buildings installed and wired to the control panel. A few things are still not done yet, that the signal and the switch motor - for a simple reason, I have yet to buy them! The controller needs to be wired to the 6-pole plug before I can run a train. Lothar will do that in his workshop and maybe I have it back this year, i.e. tomorrow.
RoR - congratulation on the grand piano! It reminds me on my stay as an exchange student. My "American mother" had a baby grand. One day she asked me to teach her how to sing Schubert´s "Die Forelle" in German. Took a while before she got it sounding right
Enjoy!
Mornin' folks!
Zoe, I'll have a bowl of heritage Flacks Organic Cereal, a banana, and a large pot of Medium Roast Dunkin Coffee (I got given 3 lbs of the stuff for Christmas and figure I'll use it up then get back to the good stuff).
Sun is trying to shine outside here in the the Finger Lakes this morning... Currently 45°F outside and that is 2° higher than what was predicted for today... I am taking a break from cleaning house for a few minutes. Company will be arriving around 2PM they say. House looks almost presentable. Need to pick up and put away lots of STUFF in the trainroom (which is why they are coming over).
RideOnRoad
I best get back to work... The company is a lady who was my SIL at one time and her "boyfriend" (her last husband died after a long and drawnout illness.... Her marraige to my BIL ended after they lost a son to a rare medical problem that their doctors missed completely until he collapsed at home and died a couple days later at Strong Hospital. He was only 6 years old). Looking forward to seeing her again.
JAMES MOON . . .Richard, I am envious although I don't have room for a grand and wlll be happy with my Yamaha studio upright. Are you still taking lessons?. . .

We have a Kawai upright we have had for 30 years that we could not get rid of. I used leftover foam to make some sound baffles for the back and we moved it into the office. The hope is that with the baffles and the door closed we can play the piano while the TV is on in the family room. (And yes, I am still taking lessons. You are never too old to learn.)
Good Morning
Another dul dull day for us...with little tiny snowflurries as well. High today will be 32.
Today is get the stuff together for our neighbourhood potluck/shiveree. And, hopefully, get a chance to go play with my choo choos....
Chloe, I'll have a coffee and a tea biscuit please...
I'll be at the RC for now...
Today's word:
Good night diners. May the Force Be With You. You guessed it, we went to the Star Wars movie tonight. Enjoyable escapism.
Richard, I am envious although I don't have room for a grand and wlll be happy with my Yamaha studio upright. Are you still taking lessons?
Ken, prayers for your wife's healing. Three broken bones sounds like no fun at all.
I have heard of the black eyed peas for good luck on New Years tradition when I lived in Alabama.
Have actually had a chance to do some more track work on the layout. Should have another section of Homosote road bed ready for painting tomorrow and then have enough ties stained to lay up to the first switch. Trying to advance to multiple switches going into a yard area. Haven't quit figured out the exact geometry for the yard as of yet.
Very wet weather in the Ohio River valley but still no cold weather or snow.
Well, its time to turn in.
Jim
The family had black eye peas, brown rice, cornbread, and ham hocks for New Years mid-day meal. This year I will be making lobster stew, (he stew), corn bread, and garden peas that were put by this summer.
Best wishes, thoughts, prayers, and improved health and healing to all for the New Year.
