Howdy, everybody.

I'm glad we postponed our trip to Alabama until a few weeks later. Alabama's storms are in the national news. We're having storms here too, but not anything as severe as they are having. My family memebrs there are okay and hunkered down. ... We still intend to take our norther trip in a few days.

G ... That must be abn impressive ring.

YGW.... Glad you are able to take care of Kelly's boys. Also glad to hear they can now visit her. ... Prayers continue !.... I replied to a PM a couple of days ago.

Ulrich .... John Denver sang a great rendtion of  "The Train They Call The City of New Orleans"

.....

Lyrics:

"Good morning, America, how are you?

Say, don't you know me? I'm your native son
I'm the train they call the City Of New Orleans
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done "

I really like that song

YGW - Shenandoah Valley sounds great!

Here is one of my favorite songs from way back when (I was an exchange student at Bainbridge Island High, WA in 1973/74):

Good morning everyone !

Semi lazy day planned. Went out and bought some breakfast foods and MOH is busy preparing breakfast food while I look over the forum. She LOVES to cook and is all Big Smile. Today I will finish painting the study and patch a piece of drywall where I knocked over the corner cabinet Sigh and it punched a hole in teh wall about the size of a grapfruit. Should have moved it out.

Later I will check the mail and see if my new to me used N&W engine has arrived in the mail.

V8 - Sounds like there was a lot of folks there, bet that was fun !

Ulrich - Well if your health gets better come visit here. Where I live there are places near here that look like that. Google Shenadoah valley, skyland drive, applachian mountain.AND the NS runs through here the grandchild of the N&W !

Jeremy - No trains ?

Der - Love the Merry Christmas

Galaxy - second breakfast ? Are you part Hobbit ? Whistling

Garry - did you send me another PM ?

KELLY UPDATE - Yesterday we called my NIL,FIL and wished them a Merry Christmas. They sounded up beat at least more so than in the past. They were taking the boys in to see there Mom. I havent heard back from them. I hope it went well. Hospitals can be very scrarry for children. Especially when it is their parent that is in there. We are taking care of the boys from the 30 to Jan 4th. I am so thankful that I can help them with taking care of the boys. I love my in laws. When my wife was so ill they gave 110% of them selves and held nothing back. They laughed with us, cried with us, sat with us and were silent and prayed with us. Can you imagine having two daughters go through something so awful ?

Ulrich:

I am very sorry to hear that! Do you have a laptop or smart phone you cna keep in touch with us with, or will we be in the dark?

To ALL:

My "BIG" christmas present was a diamond and sapphire ring from MOH, My birthstone is sapphire, MOH's is diamond, and sapphire is second hardness level to diamond, so they "wear" well togetrher, meaning one won't get shattered while the diamond survives, so much.

MOH's was a Swarovski Crystal Snow flake that MOH wanted.

MOH alos got a me a History of Trains book and a pull-out foldout book on trains also!

we both got clothes, so I have a mountain of clothes to wash now!!! up nad down those darn stairs at teh new house until we get teh stackable in the kitchen.

MOH thinks maybe around the first we will be rejoined at the new hosue, as MOH plans to bring Cud-Cuds over for NY's eve andleave him behind, taking almost all of the electronics too. We are going to leave behind a bunch of crap as teh trailer is going to be scrapped anyway. We don't wnat to drag it all over there.

The digital TV antenna doesn't always work! we moived in a bookcase and it blocked reception so we moved it, and the UHAUL truck blocked reception too, but once boht were moved, made little difference. I boughtan enhanced stronger antena {more $} to try. see if that imprioves.

well, I got a load of stuff from wally world to settle at teh new house, so I'd best leavet the computer behind for now.

later

Good Morning!

December 26th - the 2nd Day of Christmas in Germany or Boxing Day in the UK. Pretty quiet here, as all shops are closed and folks spend their time with the families.

Heartland Division CB&Q
Instead of a "White Christmas" it was a "Wet Christmas".

Same here, Garry - it started to rain later in the day yesterday and is all wet now.

I´ll be leaving my place on the 4th of January, so I only have a few days left here with Petra. The place I have to go to for rehabilitation is a two hour´s drive away from my place or 4 hours by train, which I will be taking, so Petra will have the car for the time of my absence. I still don´t like to drive - for obvious reasons.

I have been giving some thought on where I would like to be to spend the rest of my days. One option is described in the following video:

Another great place for me woud be somewhere along this line:

Finally, one more choice:

I know living in any of these places will always remain a dream, as I lack two vital prerequisites for moving there - health and money.

Have a great day!

I'm sorry I haven't been online lately, I've been busy with family stuff.

Here is what I got myself for christmas

I found 2 50' Overland Roundhouse chair cars at a train store, and scored a third chair car online as well as a Roundhouse 2-6-0, all lettered for Santa Fe.

I also found a coulple of diecast cars on ebay, outside of railroads I also collect model cars, sometimes when our module club has a show, i display 3-4 models on the "Orange Grove Corner" and 2 on the "Route 66 corner" while I run my trains on the layout.

Sometimes if you don't see what you are looking for on ebay, you might be able to find that particular item through an online train retail or hobby store.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays !!!Smile

Evening guys

we had a great day today. Visited with my parents and nephews this morning, they got a ps4, lucky little brats, lol and they were rally excited for it. Chances are I will have to set it up for them. We then went to the wife's and had supper there. It was nice to meet with her step brothers and sisters as we only see them every couple years. Tomorrow we have dinner with my parenst again but my aunts and grandma come too and that will be it for Christmas this year. I go back to work on monday. It was great time but didn't feel like Christmas at all, I guess if we had some snow it would have helped a little. I did a little online shopping for  myself purchasing some table top hockey players.

well, talk to you guys sometime tomorrow

We have had a quiet holiday here, last night we went with my son and his family to church then his wife made lasagna for us. It was wonderful, ate to much and had heartburn in the middle of the night.

Today we didn't do anything. wife and I enjoyed a quiet day at home she was working with her new sewing machine while I was working on the railroad.

I wish all of you a merry christmas and a happy prosperous new year.

Der - nice background and I always appreciate " Merry Christmas" after all this is the reason we are given a few days off, shop to give gifts to commerate the wise men given gift to the baby Jesus....Thanks for actually saying Merry Christmas.

I commented yesterday (Christmas Eve in a PM to Galaxy that I'd drop a cheerful note in the Diner about "Merry Christmas" - but it didn't happen that day. So, here's the thing. As one drives by the Irving gas station in Pictou the managemnet has a sign outside wishing one and all a Merry Christmas, as does the sign at the DeCoste Theatre - and least likely, there is in the Post Office, on the "Line up here" pole a small banner which reads, yes indeed it does, "Merry Christmas". Add to this the usually so politically correct it squeaks CTV News wishing their audience "Merry Christmas" at the end of the Christmas Eve evening news! Maybe there has been enough groundswell of "enough" that businesses are listening!

Afternoon folks and a very Merry Christmas to all!

I'm home for a bit between visits to my son's house today....  Did something very stupid setting the al;arm last night...  Figured I needed to be up by 7AM to get everything done and over to my son's house by 8:30 for breakfast toiday.  So i set the hour at 7AM.  Then figured mybe I should get up a few minutes before that so I set the minutes to 55...  there!  I set the alarm to 7:55.  Managed to wake up just before the alwarm rang, so I shut it off and went to take a shower and do all my morning psoriasis stuff.  I came out into the kitchen to find it was now 8:30...  the time I was supposed to be arriving at their house.  Called son, whose phone was being charged and was off..  Gave the cats a quick dose of insulin, finished dressing and loading the car and managed to get to their house by 9AM...

Now I am back home baking the Winter Squash and getting some other stuff done.  will head back over around 1PM.

Sounds like most of you are having a wonderful day.  I pop back in tonight...

Yes, apparently they do still exist or old stock being sold off to stupid Americans...lol.

I can imagine horrific on furniture but great on windows!

The stained glass look ones will suffice until we either build some to overlour double pane windows  or have them custom made...MOH' s ' orders'

I put the bubble looking one up on the garage door windows and covered as much of the side garage window as possible, then put the lace contact paper ( USA brand) on the storm door window to the 3 season room, and the scraps from that on the side garage window. Looks good though there are bubbles in it.. MOH complain ed I should have said ' where were you when the window was clear?

I said it works for now!

Santa was good

Chamois shirts, a velvet velour shirt new diamond & Sapphiring ring for me, a swarofski crystal snowflake for MOH, other clothing, and Ferraro rocher hazelnut candies...

Lots of goodies now we have...I I I have mountains of laundry to do!

Hope Everyone' s Christmas is just as good!

Yes, Ulrich

Since MOH leaves for work weekdays @ 5:45 am, we are UP @ 3:00 am! Time for coffee, breakfast and shower, plus MOH has to file daily computer reports on the previous day's activities with the Special Needs individuals MOH works with!

On weekends MOH leaves for work at the grocery store @ 6 am as MOH is the first morning cashier in.

So, YES... Breakfast @ 3:30 am is normal here.

I was, at 4 am putting up opaque contact vinyl on the garage windows... Made guess where?... Why in Deutschland of course!

Selbstklebend folie d-c- fix ist eine   marke der Konrad Hornschuch AG, Salinensrasse 1, 74679 Weissbach, Deutschland 2 m roll of something similar to bedruckt Tulia.

I put it up on the garage windows so people can't see into the garage. I also put some on the storm door glass between the garage and the 3 season room for privacy there, too. It helps to deter theft. That was my morning. Now watching Christmas special on TV, then shower before MOH gets here to see what Santa brought!

I had oatmeal for breakfast, then about 9 will have a second breakfast of eggs, sausage and home fries and I'll make cinnamon rolls too.

Well best get ready for MOH' s arrival

Have a Merry happy day y'all!

I did not sleep well so I am already dead tired at 9.30am - can hardly keep my eyes open.

It´ll be leftovers at this end - there is plenty left from yesterday´s feast.

All I recieved the following today from my MIL

"When I arrived home yesterday, the boys greeted me with excitement and told me how two boys ( These wer our Pastors sons ) at Uncle YGWs church gave them their favorite books.  They were very impressed and thankful.
When I walked into the foyer, I could not believe my eyes!  It looked like Santa had come and gone.
We are overwhelmed with the blessings God has showered upon us and the Angels he has surrounded us with.
We know Kelly is in God's hands and are so thankful for His mercy and love for us all.
Please tell your Pastor how grateful we are and to please continue to pray for spiritual and physical healing.  Her brain injury is a major concern now and her inability to swallow.
Merry Christmas!"

I believe in the power of prayer- thank you all for being fervant prayer warriors.

Today we went to my fathers house. Food wasnt that great ( cold pizza ) but I didnt go for the food. Went for the fellowship with my family. I am very blessed there. My dad is approaching his 80s and he is still in good health and actually works half days doing home repairs, handi man stuff etc...amazing. My oldest son and his wife were there - he is so funny, My sisters etc..we had a great time.

Garry - responded to your PM
Cuda - LOL $25 for Sparkie ? Reminds me of the show "Married with children" when Al Bundy was handing out money and his dog came by and took some.
Jim - Merry Christmas to you also
Duke - like the qoute in your tag
Der - We reuse Christmas bags
Frank - Thanks for the prayers.
Angel - Watching Nascar does the same thing to me. The sound of those big motors runnung around the track and 50 laps later yours truly is out !
V8 - That would have stunk ! No money and credit cards that dont work !
Howmus - Phew your schedule makes me tired just reading it !

Evenin' Folks!

Janie, just a refill on my decaf please...  Thank You Ma'am!

Just got back here a few minutes ago from having a quick supper over at Son's hopuse after the Children's Lessons and Carols Service at Church.  My son, DIL, and the Granddaughters were ushers tonight and the girls sang in one of musical selections.  I will be heading over to their house early tomorrow for breakfast when we will exchange our gifts.  Then back home to get the squash in the oven to bake and then get back over there for the main event of the day, Roast Prime Rib with all the trimmings!

I will have just enough time to bake the squash and recharge the PiP before heading back over.....  Saturday will be a Ham Dinner at my sisters house and the exchanging of presents with her.  I have another dish of Squash to bake and take to her house....

Garry, LOL, I have managed to survive many stupid things I did with tractors, trucks, cars, and other equipment growing up on the farm.....  Today, I am especially careful when using equipmant or driving as I figure I have used up at least 8 of the 9 lives a cat would have..... WhistlingLaugh  I will tell you there is a really bad feeling about rolling down the highway doing 35/40 mph in a large truck with no brakes and the wheels not being attached to the engine and transmission.  I was looking around to find the safest place to ditch the old thing and how to talk my way out of being in real bug trouble with my dad if I was to even survive the accident....  I was about 13 or so at that time I think.  I tell people, I had a lot of fun losing my hearing while I was growing up!  Aren't too many 7 year old kids around who knew how to double clutch a 1934 4 ton axel chevy truck to downshift.....

Have a blessed Christmas out there to all who celebrate.  If you celebrate something else, then I hope that will be a great as well!  There is an absolutely gorgeous full moon outside here in the Finger Lakes tonight.  Truly wonderful.  From my house to yours:
