Weighmaster

Just received word that my youngest grandson passed away about an hour ago in his dad's arms in Stoddard, Wisconsin.  Born 6/4/2014 with CDG disease, blind and deaf.  He's with his grandma, who I lost 6/3/15.

Sir Madog
Gee, Brother Elias - I sure like your pictures. It would be nice to know what I am lookig at - I am not that familiar with the location.

Well I am on a westbound (J) train approaching Broadway Junction, a city bound (L) train is passing over head. They yards are off to the right, and so there are several tracks that make access to the yards.  The second track to the left is ducking down under the (J) train and is headded to that yard. Once past Broadway Junction, my train will be running on Broadway (in Brooklyn, which is not the same as in Manhattan or the Bronx) headded for Manhattan across the Williamsburg Bridge.

Does that help you? -- Did you find the LION?

"Wo, bitte, ist die Katze?"

I am still having problems with my Internet connection. My high speed line (supposedly 16MBit/s) is down to 0.19 MBit/s.

Galaxy Good luck on the house, just be carfull for what you wish for. If I had it to do all over, I may have rented.

Far as Re Fi the house. Going to talk to my Bank and see what if anything they can do for me. Seems Big Brother (feds) have to see a net gain now for the owner before a person can RE Fi there house? I was told by a coutmer (he was a broker) that more than likely the Fed's won't let me Re Fi the house.

 Later Ken

Ken: Noted. However, remeber we have had a trial run on the "owning a house thing"...we OWN the trailer, but rent the lot. SO ALONG with the trailer comes house-type maintenance. One reason for going to a house is that the trailer is becoing a mney pit and isn't worth anything. we will "fire-sale" it for around $4k, $5k with a washer and dryer...It sholud go fast hopefully We will only be able to care for it for bout 6 months after we buy/get inot the new house..

Second, YEah, they want homeowners to have equity ina house for re-fi. sAme as buying, they want to see equity in the house!

Well, if we DO reach a deal, we still have finanacing to go tthrough yet, taht may hold up the works, as we will be close.

s we will see...

Ulrich ... So far, you are the only one to report eamil spam. I just changed the email password , and that should take of it....

Ken .... Glad you liked the Monon photo.

Jimmy ... Sort of know what you mean. I have had periods when there would be multiple problems and heartaches all at the same time. I work on trains in my "sanity breaks" to tune out all of the bad stuff. It is also a good idea to take problems to the Lord.

Ray ... Sorry to hear about the problems at the BSA campout.

Happy Model Railroading everybody.

Just got Pre-Approved for a VISA Card. Whistling Never heard of the bank, it is called Credit One and they made there logo look's like Captial One. Other thing that struck me odd was I have to respound by 9/23/15 and I just got the offer? Not in a hurry on this one, something stinks.

Jimmy Soory to hear about the bad times and lost of the friend! Glad the hobby is helping you not to dwell on things as much.

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, I'll have the corned beef and cabbage dinner tonight...  A nice cold lemonade would go with that perfectly.

Galaxy, That sounds good on the house.  If you get it and want to have a layout down cellar, you could do what the Asst. Superintendent of my NMRA Division and a few others have done.  Put in a chair lift to the cellar.  Being handicapped you might even qualify for help on the expense.

I took Manét to the vet this morning.  His blood sugar is better (350ish) but still not where we want it so he will get an increased dose starting tomorrow morning.  I will not be here all day, but the vet assured me there shouldn't be a problem with it.  He will be getting half again more.  He also got another dose of the long acting antibiotic.  So between the urine test and the injection, I am another $80 poorer.  Lucky I love the little guy!  The vet assured me that he will make it through all this.

I got home and loaded all the stuff in the car to take to the Recycling day at the landfill tomorrow on my way to the museum.  Then I was asked to write a letter to the BSA Council Executive concerning my (Hearsay) knowledge of a major problem at a campout last weekend of one of my units.....  As a Mandatory Reporter (BSA and New York State Law) I didn't have much choice as I was told about this by 4 adults from another unit. It may mean we will lose the unit (which we were on the brink of anyway as they only currently have 3 youth members).  One of the youth in the unit will be pulled out by the parents so the unit would not be able to recharter in a couple months anyway....  I work very hard to help these units be successful and then they go and do some very stupid (and possibly) illegal stunts!  The adults in charge will likely be removed from the BSA.

So....  I had an interesting day so far!  Later.

Evening all, glad to be back on the diner.

First off, I'm still working at the grocery store (saving my pennies for someday,  but moma Leone hasnt left a note in my room). It's been kinda stressful dealing with some people. Second, I lost a friend in the past couple months to her death, and I'm still kind of hurting. Third, my grandmother is suffering from severe dementia, and its starting to get to me and my mother. I'm just hoping for a good day Anymore with her.

Fourth, i suffered a major heartbreak recently and my trains and this forum have gotten me through it, so I want to thank you all. Thank you for being here and distraction from the non digital world.

Well tonight has me taking part of my club's operating session. Have a good evening all.

Well, We ARE in negotiations!!!

The sellers HAVE come down as they realize for the size that teh asking price is really a bit high. We are still about $2k apart on what we THINK we'd like ot pay and what they THINK they'd like to get. SInce it is apparently so close, now if we can maybe split the difference.

APparenlty they wnat/need to sell quickly.

Dunno, We are not paying any $74,900 for it, that is for sure.

So, we shall see.

BUt it looks promising.

dunno!

Keep you fingers nad toes crossed we get it, it will be a SIZAEBLE BASMENT for a layout! an "L" haped double 4x8 in  a corner is what I am thinking! At least for starters... Dont want to push it..MOH wants a 4x8 N scale too...Whistling

we will see,

later

Hi YGW,

This is how that happens >>>  Someone else has put in a maximum bid that is quite a bit higher than what yours is. Each time you bid it takes his up to just above your bid, not to his Maximum. If you kept going you would eventually out bid him, but chance are you don't want to pay that much. Whereas he has decided that he wants them no matter what it costs, but rather than just paying the buy it now price, if there is one, he just makes his bid high enough to scare others off and hopefully get the goods for under the buy it now price.   You can do the same thing if you are so inclined.

Tell us more about the goodies your friend is bringing you and Pix if possible.

Good morning all. Zoe, I would love to have a tall glass of chocolate milk and a buttermilk waffle with a side of sausage please.
Thank you everyone for the welcome backs, I've been keeping up with things by having the forum replies emailed to me, bit I can't always find the time to log in and actually respond, please forgive me for that.
Ulrich, I really like your new furniture, I'll bet you can't wait to get some track down and do some real running.
Galaxy, best of luck to you on the contract for the house. It sounds as if you've got plenty of ammunition to male the offer stick.
Garry, the family is doing excellent. Heather (the 8 year old and oldest) is playing soccer this year and I'm an assistant coach on her team. Mikayla (the 5 year old) is also playing soccer. Michael (my 3 year old son) is just as boyish as ever. Harmony (now 19 months) is walking and climbing everything amd generally getting into mischief.
I haven't been doing much MRR related activity as of recent, bit I do have a couple of Athearn blue box hoppers assembled, kadee couplers installed at the correct height and painted. Just have to order a decal set and go from there. Also working on painting some locomotives to match the short line railroad that works here in Troy, Alabama to go along withy CSX units.
Well, that's about it for me, we've got several tickets hanging and people waiting for their cars so it's back to w**k for me!

Sir Madog

Galaxy - did I miss something? Have you bought the house? Or do I have to continue keeping my fingers crossed for your house hunt?

We put in an OFFER on hte house, if they accept then yes,we will have bought it. But we expect a  counter offer. We have two ways of backing up our offer. One is to show ohter comparabel houses in the township that have sold at $4-6K less than asking price.

howmus

Galaxy, I assume you have put in an offer for the house you last showed us.  Good luck with it!

YES, RAY... It is the cute little 2 Br with the extra 3 season{soon to be 4 season} room attached to it. I ay jsut set up a  4x8 HO in the 3 season room! Not much, but bigger than my currnet 3.5'x5.1' layout! If I set it up out there, I won't have to go down stairs. Though we think maybe we will finish the basment by buying just 3 2x4s and a sheet of drywall a square or two of the 2'x2' basement pre-made flooring stuff with honeycomb bottom so themoisture or any wnater will travvel under it to the sump, per 2-week pay period or per month! its the slow method but a nice square dry  basement is a nice place to put it! When I get so I cannot navigate the stairs, it will be OK to just stay upstairs...or we willl have improved it enough to sell it....and trade to a alarger upstaris...

Dunno, lets not go putting the cart before the horse,as we DO expect a counter simpy because tehy generally DON'T accept the first offer, thinking you have more money to spend.

The ectrical has all been updated with new wiring and grounded plugs, with GFCIs wheree needed. A few more outlets may be nice, but not urgent... ANd the vented light inthe bath is a good thing, too. The kithcen cabinets have been updated, but nice not the real expensive stuff...

so overall a nice little house.......

we will see what we will see when we see it.

Mornin' everyone!

I'm here!  Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Heritage Flakes Organic™ cereal, skim milk, and a handful of fresh bluseberries to go along with a pot of Marrakesh Express Dark Roast coffee this morning.

Manét still has a urinary tract infection going on, so I have to take him over for another antibiotic shot late this morning.  Not sure if she will check his sugar level while I am there or not.  He has decided that he does not like his insulin injections.

Ulrich, the new "furniture" is looking good!  I am eager to see it when finished and ready for the layout.

Galaxy, I assume you have put in an offer for the house you last showed us.  Good luck with it!

Last night was the picnic for a troop I am the commissioner for.  I arrived at the site where meetings are held a half hour early just to see if i could help with anything.  i got there to find the Scoutmaster furiously fiddling with a dead grill that is at the site.  (It is there for teachers and class parties and us to to use when needed....)  So after another 15 minutes, I asked if anyone was coming with a pickup truck and offered my grill for them to use.  He finally said, no, but how about if we go over to your house (I live a block away) and cook the hamburgers and hot dogs there?  So I now have a grill needing some major cleaning at my house....  Turns out the picnic was poorly attended.  Not a great start to their year.  They may be losing a few Scouts due to one who is going to college, and several others who have reached the age where other things are on their mind, so recruitement is a major item for them (This is the Handicapped unit).

Probably little time for trains today....Sigh  but that is becomeing the usual around here.

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon, Folks!

We are enjoying "calm autumn weather" - that´s the name the weather guessers have assigned to the cloudy, gray and humid weather we have had the past days.

My friend sent some pics of our yesterday´s joint venture:

There is not a single nail or screw in the joints! We used biscuit joiners and milling the slots for them was quite a job! The whole thing is surprisingly strong! Next week will see a lot of sanding, followed by sanding and again sanding, coloring and wax-type finishing. I´d like to have a furniture style finish of it.

Galaxy - did I miss something? Have you bought the house? Or do I have to continue keeping my fingers crossed for your house hunt?
