One more subway tunnel before I go on vaction today.
Dickinson --> MLPS --> Alentown -----> Rent Car ---> Hotel Room etc.

Be my most expensive vacation ever since my parents are now in assisted living and so I cannot sponge off of them. But I do have some money for side trips to NYC, so more pictures will happen.

I'll have a 'pute, with me, but not *my* puter so I'll not have access to my photos except what if I know the file name, since they are all on my web server.

Good Morning, again!

Today´s PT was cancelled shortly before I had to leave my home for it. It´s too hot for a "workout", so I am glad I don´t have to go. I also caught hardly any sleep last night, so I will use the extra "free" time to get a little rest!

Galaxy - keeping my fingers crossed that YOH will get the new job!

Yesterday´s ra*n did not bring any refreshment. It´s steaming outside. I am afraid it won´t be a pleasant day.

Hi guys

just dropping in

have a bit of a problem, kind of . I have another place that wants me to come work for them, straight days and no weekends at all. Plus it will be more money so am really thinking about it

It must be nice to have such a  problem!!!

GOod luck with your decision, but I think more hours, days, weekdays, more $$ would be a simple choice, but if you don't enjoy it, then it wouldn't be the place/job for you!

MOH has applied for an internal transfer to a new job requiring full time days M-F too. Here's hoping MOH gets it!

Best of luck to you Jeremy!

Ahhhh! The work week is over. Indulging a little bit...but want to keep a somewhat clear head. Need some sleep. Got to go to the vet tomorrow and take my feline friend for his 3-4 month steroid shot. He has some very strange allergic condition for the last few years that makes him nasty sick. I want my ole (14 y.o. ) buddy back. He's definitely worth it.

Thursday I'm going out for another railfanning session...but this time early. Leave home 7-8 AM and go up into the Truckee River Canyon. Might have talked a truck driving friend into going. Want to do some more low res vids and high res stills. I need a new camera. Confused No OT...where to get the money? I ask myself.

Well...at least I can get good stills...7.1 mp.

Might go back to using 35mm. Got a complete (and more) outfit. Just...where to get film processed with the supplemental CD-ROM.  Any ideas?

Well...the eyelids are getting real heavy.

Take care everyone

Good Morning, Folks!

It´s rather early, but I had a heck of a time to catch some sleep this night. It´s just to hot and stuffy inside and leaving the windows open means inviting trouble. I´s not burglars I am afraid of, but we los of bats in our neighborhood who might want to settle down in our flat.

All windows are open now to let some of the fresh morning air in. The day will be a hot one again - Sigh

Garry - 96? Wow! Petra´s Grandmother barely missed the 100 and the oldest lady in town just died recently at 109! How the world has changed since she was born! She lived all her life in our community and in 1906, there were no cars here, not even electricity or telephone. The town had a population of just 300, now it´s 25,000.

Zoe, a breakfast bagel and coffee in an IV bag, please - just to help me keep my eyes open.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, a cup or three of Peruvian French Roast Decaf would be great right now.

Turned out to be fairly sunny for most of the day after the clouds burned off this morning.  I tackled a small fold up table here by the computer today for cleaning up.  It had several deep stacks of papers that needed to be filed (still have a lot of the filing to do) from the last 2 years or so for the MLK Committee, the convention, and a stack of papers left over from last years tax return.  The tax stuff has mostly gotten down cellar to where I keep everything on file for 7 years.  the MLK banking stuff has been opened sorted into piles by year and will be further dealt with tomorrow.  Oh, I still had a bunch of magazine stuff to get sorted and put away still on tyhe dining room table.  Did that first and then tackled the mess on the fold up table next to the computer.  I also managed to go outside and weed the rock garden in the front lawn.  By the end of the week the house may actually be more or less clean.  In the meantime I am tired.

I did manage to check out the layout when I was down cellar....  That too needs som major cleanup...

Garry, 96 years old!  How wonderful.  Hope the whole family had a great celebration.... I bet the piano music was beautiful!  Cool

Have a great night!

Good afternoon, everybody .

I just returned from Alabama where we celebrated my mother's 96th birthday. It was good to have a family get together. My mother still plays the piano very well. In addition to AL family members, others were there from NC and MI.   ... While there, we went to the Cvil Rights Museum in Birmingham. Interesting. I recall some of the events in the news in the 1960's pertaining to civil rights. It is across the street from the well known 16th Avenue Baptist Church.  ... I think we can be thankful for progress since the 1960's... Then I'll say no more to refrain from politics.

Looks like you Diners have been very busy, and I hope to catch up on your posts.

I am anxious to get back to my model railroad too.

Cheers ...

Afternoon, Folks!

What started out as a nice and bright day, has now turned into a gray and wet nuisance. It´s still too hot for my taste, but with that ra*n coming down right now, it´s steaming outside. I feel like being in India during the monsoon.

I am still in a somewhat low mood. I am pondering of selling whatever remains of my model railroading activity as I won´t be able to do anything. The mini layout my friend put togethet for me is just entertaining for a few minutes and there is no way I can finish it by adding scenery and detail. The proceeds will have to go into a new computer, as my old notebook is slowly dying.

Being able to connect to the outside world is of more value to me than being able to let a train run around a loop.

Zoe, as supper time is coming up here, I´ll just have a mug o´coffee, please.

CU all!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Heritage Flakes Organic Cereal and a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast Coffee to start the day.

After over 6 hours of sorting yesterday I now can find the top of my dining room table.....  Have dealt with several years worth of MR and NMRA magazines, and a bunch of books and other STUFF that was piled there since the renovation started.  I also cut up and put into recycling a bunch of old boxes I have been saving from electronic equipment I got rid of years ago.... Whistling  More to be done today!

I did not get down the stairs to the layout rooms at all yesterday, but there is slight hope for today.  When I do get back to the layout I will have a couple days of cleaning up and oputting away down there as well.  That is what I get for being a slob!

PRONUNCIATION:

MEANING:
verb tr.: To kiss.
verb intr.: To touch or to bring together.

ETYMOLOGY:

USAGE:

Angrat enjoyed the rest of their day in the swamp, as Beneficent grabbed one frog after another and eagerly osculated each amphibian on its little froggy nose.
As always, Angrat marveled at her sister’s eagerness to embrace any tall tale. Nothing came out of the smooches.”

Well, the funds to buy a lot {or actually it is claimed as a double lot} or 2.7 plot are secured.

That WON'T mean automatic MRRing space with a few BRs above it, but it will mean we ahve options to put one on it.

We MAY have to Hire YGW to build an 1100 {or under} sqft ranch house for us, but it is probably too small for him to work on.

We could go deeded doublewide, modular, or stick built, but that won't happen until 2017 at most likely.

Now to get the property....

One is .42 acre double lot with a brick garage on it {can anyone say "MRR ING space???"} here:

http://www.realtyusa.com/property/TBD-MAIN-STREET-APALACHIN-NY-13732/BinghamtonNY/195291/

OR this one:

http://www.realtyusa.com/property/2919-OWEGO-ROAD-VESTAL-NY-13850/BinghamtonNY/196213/

so, we have s decision to make, quickly.

I was awaiting the agent's callback, but probably tomorrow....we will see what we can scarf it away for: whichever one we choose.

For now, it will have to do, not quite a house yet, but the remarkable thing is we can get what we'd like in a house...

Good Afternoon,

A sunny, windy day here with a pleasant 23C or about 75F I guess.

Not much on the agenda today as we are going out for dinner at friends. We just got back from taking Robbie for his walk which he really enjoys. I also watched a NFB film called 'Railroad Town' that was shot in 1955. It is about Melville, SK and it does give a great view of railroad operations at that time. It is on line and if you want to see it just google National Film Board/ Canada. It is under the Transportation, Railways, category. The host/narrator is Fred Davis who would be very familiar to any fellow Canucks of my age as he hosted a very popular TV show for many years.

Nothing much new on the RR front either. I did put some rust dust on the box cars I assembled a few weeks ago and I have run the new Mikado a bit but nothing else. I will likely turn my attention to the N scale layout come fall as it is at the stage where roads need to be put down, grass 'planted', trees planted, etc. I did buy a new decoder to replace the one I fried in a Kato PA. I am trying a TCS decoder this time and I hope it works better than the NCE in the other PA unit.

A little progress on the bathroom reno front this past week as we did get the vanity height reduced and the countertop templated. I think we might actually have it done by the middle of the month.

See you soon,

CN Charlie

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, a nice cup of Organic Fair Traded Peruvian French Roast Decaf would be nice right now....  Thank you Ma'am!

Taking a break from "Sorting".  I have been removing old issues of MR Mag from notebooks and putting them in carboard boxes to be donated to the R&GV RR Museum.  I found that although I generally do read them when they come in, I have never gone back to look up anything for my model work...  If I do there is always the online stuff now.  The only ones I am keeping are the last year or so and any with articles by Harold Russell.  A bit of sentimentallity due to friendship I guess....

YGW, the dinner was last night....  Need food for the rest of the week.  WhistlingLaugh  Tonight I will be having a dozen Littleneck Clams, a couple ears of fresh local sweet corn (need to get my dose of GMO's and Roundup you know), and a big slice of the Muskmellon I got out at the Mennonite Farm Stand a couple days ago.

It is sprinkling outside at the moment....  I need to get back to sorting and dealing with the stuff lying around the house...  later!

Good afternoon, all.  I decided to take a day off from serious exercise.  I may go for a walk later on.  I've been putting in the miles on the bike the last few days, and it's very hot out again.  The heat is the killer for me.  I'd be on the bike again if it were only cooler.  Right now I'm having a nice bowl of raspberry chip ice cream.

Just did a pill run for my Glyburide, the old man pill for my type 2 diabetes.  Unlike the Metformin, which did not treat me well, this stuff seems OK.  I still have plenty of energy.  Now, I need to go for a beer run.

Gpod day, eveyone.  It is another beautiful day in north central Canada at the lake.  Blue sky, gentle breeze and 67 degrees.

Uhlrich, condolences for the loss of your wife's Aunt.

Jermey, the weather will probably greatly improve as soon as the holiday weekend is over as it has been really nice here the past three days.

Freinds had us out for a really nice dinner yesterday of roast beef, mashed red potatoes and gravy, peas, and four salads.  The grandkids had a great time having a water baloon fight going through 300 water baloons.  All of this occurred on an island sand beach, the perfect place for a water baloon war.

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon!

Under other circumstances I would have said it was a beautiful day today. Not a cloud in the sky, maybe a touch too hot already (short of 90F).

We had a brief, but very touching ceremony when we laid Aunt Else to eternal rest in that forest. There is a natural beauty to the place which is beyond words.

I am not a talkative guy today, so please excuse me for leaving already.

CU tomorrow.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Organic Heritage Flakes Cereal with skim milk and a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast coffee for my R&GV RR mug.

I was just about ready to go grocery shopping yesterday when the phone rang.  It was my son inviting me over for Sunday Dinner at his house.  That means I need to get out the door and go shopping this morning so I have some food in the house....

Dark and gray outside here in the Finger Lakes this morning.  The weather prognosticators are predicting a possiblility of moisture falling from the skies today.  We actually could use a bit as the garden is dry....

Will be spending most of the day cleaning, arranging, and maybe even visiting the train rooms....

Catch you all later!
