Once I was placing order with Dell for new monitor..this one is failing rapidly so much so I will leave it on to make sure it is on...but as I typed in the security code on the cc, off the net went! FAILED ORDER!
The second time i was positng a "if you miss me..." message to you all when it went off agian!!!

O.K.-- Dr.Hawes says it is NOT cancer. Tis an ULCER. Just to have it looked at about twice a year. Do no harm, do not slice and dice at this time. Make sure it is Not getting to any lymph nodes. that are in the area.

Flip - That's great news... Bet that's a load off, isnt it?
Seeing how it was too miserable to do anything outside yesterday, I stayed in & at least got the kitchen & foyer floors scrubbed. Then put an application of grout sealer on the tile in the foyer.
Up early again this morning, and boy I hope that isn't habit forming. I went out and mowed and trimmed the front yard. The temp was in the high 70's, but the humidty was terrible. Really oppresive so I took a lot of breaks. Then came in and cleaned the foyer and the living and dining rooms. Tomorrow I'll do the bathroom and the stairway to the 2nd. floor. It's a vicious circle to my way of thinking.
The Post Office delivered a Dept. 56 Halloween Village piece I picked up on EBay for the wife. She has a very nice collection now, and enjoys it a lot and looks forward to the display every year. I guess I'll start putting it up around the beginning of October.
I see a lot of others here are having the same kind of weather we are. It's been weird here in that the temps are going from one extreme to the other wvery couple of days. Maybe it's my old age, but I'm not adjusting too well. Boy, that was quite a ramble about absolutely nothing. Take care and stay safe.

Tom- We have Dept. 56 retired Harley Village Set. Have no wish , yet to put up for sale. B-I-L has two complete sets. My In-laws are all Harley riders. Deb used to fall asleep, as a baby. in the sidecar, F-I-L had put on when she was born.

Flip - Those are interesting pieces. While the wife collects Halloween Village, I collect Dickens Village. It's quite a large display at Christmas. The problem these days is everything is stored in the attic, which means a lot of trips up & down 2 flights of stairs. And I don't do stairs well these days. So it will probable take me 2 or 3 days just to bring everything down to the 1st floor and then take the empty boxes back up. Starting to wonder if it's worth it. On the other hand, we get quite a lot of pleasure out of them.
TOM- Our attic gets to HOT. Well over 120 degrees. We keep them in a large closet in the house. Garage is attached but the heat and humidity are fierce. As for age, I'm 77. Anchoring the wheelchairs on my work bus is getting to me.. Need the Lotto. lol
Back on that fateful September day, I was in my first period middle school English class. The news was on cause we were trying to find grammatical errors in the news.
Been working on those 2 cars for my "client". So far the trucks and wheels are about 50% done.
Just saw photos of the new Athearn Genesis GP9s in BN. Looks like they dropped the ball as far as details go. They missed the step wells that have the extra step, the beacons are far too short, the skirts are wrong on some of them, the 3 ex-NP units they are doing don't appear to have the bell, and the ex-Q unit is not only missing the red light in the top cluster, but the long hood doesn't have stripes too (some of the Ex-Q ones got them on both ends. I guess I should be relieved they missed it on these. I should really be working on the P2K units I'm doing.

Had some thunderstorms come through here around dinner time and things are starting to cook up again now. We are under a thunderstorm warning again so Should head out of here soon. Didn't get to work on the boxcar roof I was working on today as the oil paint is still drying from last night. Went to the office supply store this morning and picked up a box of my favorite pencils ( Staedtler Norica ) and pens ( zebra ball points ).

Not much going on here. No haircut today, maybe tomorrow. I have an appointment at the hearing docs office tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully they can find what's causing the sound of my pulsing in my ears to be so darn loud instead of the barely audible level it was before my surgery. It's keeping me awake quite a bit. Well I checked USPS tracking and my newest Varney all metal F3A is in Shreveport. I'll have it tomorrow. I have an Athearn blue box F7 drive all ready for it. This morning the power company was doing a switchover from power station to another. They missed by a little under a second and there was a momentary lapse in the power. It went off and back on so quickly that it tripped the circuit breaker in the computers power supply so naturally it turned off dead as a door nail and wouldn't restart until I turned off the computers power supply, waited fifteen seconds and turned it back on. After that I was able to restart it but it still took a while to start up. Disk check and all that. It even checked one of the flash drives because I was looking for something on it when the power flashed. And this isn't a one-time event. They miss on the power hand-offs at least once a week, sometimes five or six times a week. One of these days they're going to injure or kill a home-bound person who is dependent on medical equipment to survive. Or maybe they'll cause serious damage to someones home or even blow out equipment at the municipal airport near here. I bet they'd love that! They did a pretty neat job of blowing up one of my computers. It wasn't anything I couldn't fix but I shouldn't have had to fix it in the first place.Well that's enough ranting and raving for one night. It's time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Being 16 hours ahead, the first crash would have occurred about 0048 hrs NZ time,I heard it on the 0600 hrs radio news driving to work on the 12th of September, and initially thought it was a Orsen Wells type windup and continued to work and opened up as normal. It was not until someone turned on the tv in next doors crew room and said "take a look at this" that I realised it was for real. No guessing what was the lead story which ran most of our evening news, and unfortunately for about a month and a half after. I guess from a foreign perspective I would say it was the day the US lost its innocence.
The lasting effect here in my part of the world is of course increased airport security, the local small airport with its 2 international flights a week had a regulation high security fence erected around it complete with officious security staff. Having worked art secure airports before that it was nothing new, but sad to loose our freedom, though that, of course is nothing compared to what those who lost family and friends, lost.

Plan on working on my Son's new N Scale layout. His birthday is getting closer by the day and while I won't have it completely finished, I would like to have trains running by then. I ordered his Kato N Scale CP AC4400 the other day. He will get that as part of his gift. So, his roster will consist of a Kato Norfolk Southern SD70, Atlas GP40-2, and his CP AC4400.

Good morning to all. After starting the week at 39 degrees driving in to work, yesterday I noticed the car's outside temperature thermometer at 98. No, do not adjust your set. This is New England weather. I ran the AC all last night, and left it on when I left for work.
Tom, we've got the Carolers at home for Christmas. It was a standard gift for my wife for several years, but then she said "Enough," and I'd have to agree. As our family is Dad-Mom-Daughter, I bought them in sets of 3 in various winter themes - skiing, snowshoing, skating. "Shopping" seemed a bit lame, and that's where it ended. Our Christmas stuff is in the attic, above the 3rd level of the house, so I've got 2 flights of stairs plus the attic pull-down. It's a chore I dread every year.
9/11 in 2001 was a work day. I heard it from the cashier in the cafeteria while getting my morning coffee. As a flight simulator afficionado, my first thought was how close the Towers were to the runway 4 approach to Laguardia. But, when I checked the weather and saw that NYC was clear, I realized that the tragedy was not related to weather or instrument malfunction. My company lost 4 employees that day. Each year, we still have a commemorative service outside by the plaque that's been erected in their honor.

Johnboy and Flip- Prayers for both of you on your surgeries. I hope all turns out well. I see Flip you are not requiring surgery? That’s good but I will still pray that your ulcer does not become an issue and heals quickly.
I didn’t get much time to think about the events of 2001, but on September 11, 2013 my world did stop turning when I ran into the Emergency Room and was met by the Chaplain ……at 1:30 a.m. yesterday Brenda had a heart attack, and a bad one.
According to the doctor, it was 100% blockage of the left arterial…. something and she was lucky that it wasn’t a fraction of an inch farther up or it would have been the “Widow maker”. As it was, he said, in this location more than half don’t make it to the hospital. Luckily we didn’t wait to see if the aspirin would help and just called 911 within minutes of the onset (pain I guess was that bad) and the ambulance drivers who, according to her, decided quickly they would just take the heat and ignore their 80mph speed limit, because she needed to be at the hospital now. Also that their equipment in the ambulance can be seen by the hospital so when she got there, they were ready and needed to do nothing but take her straight to the cath lab. 1 stent later and by the grace of God, she is doing well. They were going to keep her until Friday, but it sounds like if the EKG goes well and the blood tests come back good, she may get to come home today.

Sept 11, 2001 was just a regular work day until customers started coming out of the waiting lounge telling us what happened. Soon the whole office staff was in the lounge, watching the 2nd plan go in. Soon after work stopped in the shop, customers either didn't show for appointments, rescheduled, or just told us to keep the car til whenever, they had too much to think about than worry about a car. Myself I had to call my sister. She was in the WTC for a company meeting when the 1st terror attack happened years before. This time happily, she was in North Carolina. The strange part in the days that followed. I lived near a small suburban airport at the time. The silence was deafening.
Today, 3 Tsunami installs to tackle in P2K Geep 9's . Thankfully they are high hoods, so not much cutting of the weights this time. Still have to make room for the speaker though. Better get started, SWMBO says I have to be done by the time she gets home from work. Sounds like a honey-do request coming!

Regarding 9/11., thanks for sharing your stories. Interesting how we all remember the day so vividly. .... I remember staying at the hotel at the WTC on business trips years before the 9/11 attacks. The buildings were huge.

I had my biopsy yesterday morning (3 of them) and he says he saw nothing at that point to be overly concerned about, but that could change when he has more time with them in the Lab. He said there is some concern that there is four of them, normally in a case such as this it is only one mass. The needle that he used was 1and 1/4 inches long and he said that when he pierced the main mass that the needle didn't come out other side , so that is how thick it is. Anyway it is more sore this morning than it has been and my appointment with the surgeon is on the 18th so we will know more then. I spent the rest of the day resting as it really pooped me out, walked the dogs and my Grandson last evening but that was all I had to show for yesterday. Still not feeling very spry this morning but I did come to work.

Good morning. It's 77° with 82% humidity. The high will be 95° and will feel like 102°.Already had breakfast. Scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy. Very good. Had a virus scan going on the computer while I was eating. The power company decided they needed to switch to another power plant and they dropped the ball again. It was just a flicker but it was enough to make the computer crash and reset. Luckily the scan was finished when that happened. I spent about twenty minutes untangling the mess that was left on Firefox. It had been running at the time. It was throwing a bunch of application logs at me and many of them had nothing to do with Firefox. I finally got it all ironed out. What a mess! Right now I'm waiting on my caregiver. After she's made my bed and I've had my bath (she scrubs my back as I can't reach there yet) and helps me get dressed. I've gotten to the point that I can do most everything myself. She's worked with amputees in the past and has given me some great tips that have made my life a bit easier.Later my father and I will be going to town. First stop will be the barber shop. I'm starting to feel like I need to apply for a dog license. Time to shorten the hair. Then it's on to the docs office to find out what's causing this racket in my ears. So far the theories include it being caused by the anesthesia or the massive doses of antibiotics I was getting. But as there are still a number of possibilities that need to be checked.
Todd - So glad that Brenda is well, and hope for a complete & speedy recovery. Best wishes to all who are undergoing tests, waiting on results, or are otherwise preoccupied with medical conditions. Having been there myself, I'm amazed what medicine is capable of these days. My nephew & his wife are both physicians, and they spend a considerable amount of time each year on continuing education to keep up with all the advances.
Got the backyard mowed & trimmed this morning. Kind of brutal as to humidy. Once done, a breeze picked up and I could feel the humidy dropping. That figures. After lunch, I'll clean the bathroom and vacumn the stairs and landing. Want to get all this done so I can spend some extra time railfanning this weekend. The wife said she will make chicken, cole slaw, and fruit for a packed lunch instead of stopping at a fast food joint. Should be like a picnic.

Heat wave is over here in the Finger Lakes. Yesterday it was 94°F and nearly 100% humidity. Right now it is 75°F outside and the humidity is now falling out of the skies. No sunshine out there but a nice steady rain at the moment. I have had the air conditioner running for 3 days straight...
Took one step forward on the blacksmith shop project yesterday, and then 2 steps backward. I went to cut the last doorway into one of the walls (Plaster) and after careful measurement and set up cut the first edge. Then managed to cut the other sides out on the wrong end of the wall! DUH! I then did some checking and decided that 2 more of the 8 walls I had removed too much plaster trying to flatten the sides from the mold. I threw away all three sides, so now I can start over pouring 3 more sides... Grrrrrrr! I decided to order commercial windows for the model as I will still have plenty of scratch built parts for it to qualify for scratch built. There is no way I can get it done this month and make scratch built window frames for it... The doors will be hard enough.
Have a friend who is the other commissioner for the handicapped units I am a commissioner for coming over this afternoon. We will be upgrading the recruitment flyer for the troop and pack.

Got my hair cut today and also got my beard and mustache trimmed. Went to my doc appointment to see what's causing all this racket in my ears. He suspects I have a partially blocked blood vessel in my neck. He set up an appointment with a cardiac specialist for me so they can do an ultrasound scan of my neck and pinpoint the trouble spot. The appointment is set for October 4th. In the meantime I'll just have to live with the noise.Got my newest Varney F3A today. The ad said good condition. It really isn't. The drive is in pieces which I already knew and the frame is damaged. The body however is in great shape and that's the only part I was really interested in. Somebody had already put brass handrails on it. Saves me from having to do it. One of the handrails is missing from the firemans side rear side door so that'll have to be replaced. I've already cut an opening in front for the coupler. It was easier this time. I drew the outline of the opening on the pilot, drilled an 1/8" hole in the middle then used my dremel with a 107 engraving bit to remove most of the Zamac from the area I had drawn out then used a 105 engraving bit to square up the corners a little. The headlight (blank) and portholes come next. The brass handrails protruded through to the inside of the body and had to be trimmed back so they wouldn't interfere with the frame. The body is now sitting on an Athearn blue box F7 drive and looks right at home there.Well that's all for tonight. See y'all tomorrow.

I managed to get a bunch of odds and ends done today... Made an appointment to meet with the pastor of the church we are using for the NMRA Fall Meet. I be able to see the room we are using and work out the arrangement for the meet as well as give the guy the insurance certificate and pay for the room. I'll also be meeting with the president of the club that is putting on the program for us and get all other paperwork taken care of. That will be next Tuesday.
Ran a couple errands downtown this afternoon. Came home and recharged the PiP while I was meeting with the other commissioner for the Handicapped Scout units to finalize some changes in the recruitment flyer I print for them. Then I drove him over to the Pack meeting, came home and topped off the PiP before I headed out to Waterloo, NY for the Boy Scout Camp Properties Committee meeting tonight. After I got home I finished up a page of the Class Reunion Booklet I am doing, and now I'm having a cup of decaf here at the diner..... while the car charges again. I am currently getting 96 mpg with this tank of dinosaur dung juice though. That will change as I have to go to the museum Sunday.
Tomorrow I am going to get back to the blacksmith's shop construction. I need to pour 3 more walls after ruining 3 of them yesterday!

Thank you very much for all the concerns, prayers and well wishes for Brenda. She is doing well and actually home now. They released her yesterday late afternoon. The nurse said that was unusual and she is doing remarkably well. They all said the same thing throughout. It’s a good thing you acted correctly and acted fast. Guys and gals, if you even THINK you’re having a heart attack, call in or have someone get you to the hospital NOW. Time is essential. Garry can attest to that.
Paul- Glad the eyes are coming along well.
Johnboy- I’m glad to hear your doc isn’t worried about the growth. Of course it’s not on his neck either. I hope the surgeon sees no problems and you can get rid of the thing quickly.
Jeffrey- I hope they get the noise stopped. Sounds gross, but I’m assuming they checked for ear wax. About once ever couple years, my Dad would get strange sounds periodically and dizzy off and on. He’d go in, they’d flush out the biggest wad of stuff and he’d be fine. He would say inside the ears must be bigger than he thought for the amount of stuff that comes out of there.
Ray- Don’t take this the wrong way, but I always feel better when someone who is as good a modeler as you makes mistakes like that . It makes me feel like there is still hope for me someday……maybe.
Not much planned for today, I have a ton of spider webs to remove from the outside of the house, some laundry and wo*k at 5. Called off last night due to Brenda’s release but now back to the grind. Will be wo*king next 8 days eves straight cause the owner and his son are going on fishing trip on L Tanneycomo(sp?). It’ll be me and his daughter so….things should run smoother with the A team there.
Who knows, I just may be able to get in the trainroom today.

Good morning. It's 74° with 87% humidity. The high will be 95° and will feel like 102°. with a Today I'll most likely be doing some work on my newest Varney F3. There's a handrail missing so I have to make one for it. My steel wire is a little thicker than the brass wire that's on it but it shouldn't be noticeable except on close inspection. Looks like .020" vs .025" or something like that. There were two handrails missing from the engineers side cab door but I found them in the box and installed them last night. A little dab of super glue works wonders. There's still the headlight and portholes to drill out so I should be pretty busy with that.
Zoe, I'll have the #2 special this morning. Over easy on the eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of the home made sour dough toast to go along with my Seneca Lake Roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug please (and Thank you).
