Evenin' folks!
Janie, just a cup of hot decaf to warm me up, please.
Twas a chilly day for June around here. The high got all the way up to 68°F around 4PM. I got the summer squash planted along with more onion sets in the second raised bed garden today. Did a bit of banking downtown, and then had to go to a Scout District Meeting this evening. Was a good meeting billed as an Ice Cream Social... I imbibed myself with a nice large bowl of ice cream on top of a hunk of brownie brought by one of the leaders, then smothered it all in Carmel syrup, whipped cream, little chocolate bits and then put a maraschino cherry on the top! Then I had a small cup of a Tart Cherry Ice that one of our members who is a scientist at the Cornell Experiment Station here in Geneva brought. I was just fine with all of that because I knew to eat it all standing up and anything that you eat standing up doesn't count!
Just took my blood sugar a few minutes ago and it was a bit high. Have no idea why???
Barry, hobe you ged ober duh cowd kwickwee.
Flip, hope the tests go well for you.
Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy around here. I get to watch Granddaughter #2 tomorrow afternoon for a couple hours. I also plan on stopping in at the local NYSEG Customer Service office here in the area to see if they still have any "Carbon Based Units", AKA humanoids, still w@rking that might be able to get my bill updated! I'm betting they don't! They evidently no longer have humans answering emails....
Prayers for all in need!

Good Morning!
We are enjoying a beautiful morning here in northern Germany, while the folks in the south are still battling the flood. All major rivers are affected, but once the flood wave on the Elbe river will reach Hamburg, it´ll be reduced to close to nothing - the port area is big enough to cope with a little extra water.
Please include the folks down there in your prayers.
I actually did some MRRing yesterday - I needed a break from all this party work. I started assembling the kits for those background buildings on my layout. These are resin kits - a material which I don´t like very much. All of the facades were warped, so I had to put them into boiling water to straighten them carefully. The material is awkward to work with - just too bristle. The kits did not come with sides wall, so I used some leftover styrene sheet to fabricate the side walls. Nothing to show yet, but I promise to post pictures.
Lion - didn´t know the had a "Flying Lions" corps in the US Navy...
Have a good one!

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!
True Blue:
In days of old, dyes for cloth came mostly from berries, flowers and bark. The color blue was particularly rare, and when it could be done it often faded. In Coventry, England, they discovered a formula that made a blue dye color that didn't fade soon after several washings. This color was quickly called "true blue." For years, this "true blue" was the best color dye there was of all the clothes dyes. Later on, the phrase came to represent honesty, reliability, faithfulness, whether from a person or a pet
The Whole 9 Yards:
This term comes from WWII era where a fighter pilot's chain of ammo was 27 feet long or 9 yards. So, when the pilot unloaded all of his ammo at the target, he said " I gave it the whole 9 yards" meaning..." I gave it all I had".
It also take about 9 yards to make a good quality Kilt, so the scottish say "it takes the whole 9 yards of plaid fabric" to make the kilt. {betcha didn't know that!}
BLOCK BUSTER:
The origin of this phrase is from WWII. It refers to a bomb that could level an entire block. When the soldier boys came home, the phrase caught on to represent anything that made a "real impact".

Good morning. It's 76° with 98% humidity. High 88° Looks like it may be wet.I thought I heard thunderstorms in the distance early this morning but as I was only half awake I couldn't be sure. Now that I've seen the radar I see there was some bad stuff north of here. Looking over into east Texas I see some more ugly stuff coming this way. I can only hope it passes to the north. My eyes feel much better today. Yesterday they were feeling like they'd been flipped inside out. I hate eye exams. I have a prescription for new glasses but until I can scrape together the money for them the old ones will have to do.It looks like cleaning up some of the mess on the layout will be the activity of the day.

Coffee and a couple of those sour cream donuts please, thanks.
Scattered showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 74.
Thanks G! You’re Plumb the best.
Flip- I hope things go well Friday and they figure it out and get it fixed.
The whole 9 yards….. Actually not long ago, true story, I was thinking of that very phrase. I was trying to associate it with football in my head. Wasn’t working very well either. The association with football that is, not my head.
Welp, today I have to do some realigning in my life. Yup. I’m always busy but seem to get nothing done except pass time, which at my age, is going fast enough and I don’t need to help it any. Now I don’t know how I’ll do this, but I’m gonna try. Gotta figure out how to get some leisure time. Or rather more leisure time. I do ( I thought it was I before e except aft…nevermind) I do have leisure time, it just doesn't amounts to much it seems and no train time. When I wo*ked I had time for other stuff. Now I’m retired I have no time for anything other than w*rk. Now, granted I take longer to do something than I used to, and yes our stuff has slide waaaay back due to being put on the back burner because of our parents, but still. Ah well, that’s my plan anyway.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning! It's a pleasant spring day here in New England, the Bruins won again last night, and I'm once again living proof that you can't be unhappy in a Hawaiian shirt.
Ray, thanks for the weather report. Your weather today is generally mine tomorrow.
Karl, I love the scene with the gon and the overhead crane behind it.
Our daughter is coming home for the weekend. The plan is a lobster dinner on Saturday. I just love cooking that. We've got a big lobster pot and a burner platform for a propane tank outside. It cooks them perfectly without smelling up the kitchen. Add some steamers, corn on the cob, a salad and garlic bread and you've got a feast.

Got some ugly weather coming through. So far the heavy stuff is north of us. Looks like there's still more to come.
Morning All,
Currently it is 61 with an expected high of 98, under sunny skies.
Opening shift today, then Skype tonight with my son. So not much rr'ing will get done today.
Went to the lawyer's yesterday, I made $300 a month over what I am allowed to make in the past six months to be able to qualify for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Lawyer said fill out paperwork and go to court, it will be the least expensive thing to do. We shall see how that works out. Just does not seem fair, lost my wife and her income, and still have to pay her dr. bills and all else. Up until her passing we paid all our bills on time and had a great credit rating.
Prayers to all in need for health, weather related, and all other needs.

Mornin'.........
Barry, is today your fault? Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes with a side order of bacon, and lots of dark roast coffee in my FGLK mug please. Yes, leave the NYS Maple Syrup at the table!
Guess we need the rain, but does the temperature this morning have to be 56°F on the 6th. of June? Might get all the way up to 61°F sometime this afternoon they say. Steady rain coming down here in the Finger lakes since last night and will be continuing all day. Glad I have the garden planted (well almost planted, need to rototill a patch right behind the shed and put in some pole beans back there).
Today I will watching Granddaughter #2 for a couple hours, and I get to go and see if they still have old fashioned Carbon Units w@rking at the local NYSEG office here. I don't think any human type people still work at the main office in the very far. At least they ignore my emails....
I'll catch you all later!
French Roast coffee in a UNDECORATED mug, please.
Hope everyone is doing well these days. Have been preoccupied with farm work and house projects. Still nothing to report on on the MRR front. Still have not even tested the locos sitting on the kitchen table yet. Need a clone or two.
Cheers! Rob
We are under Tornado Watch till 10 P.M., from Miami to Jacksonville. Curt is out on the job in this heavy rain and wind gusts.
She doesn't have to throw the iron, just wait for you to go to sleep. Deb has an 8 inch cast iron fry pan that I'm afraid of.
Have old remedy for getting rid of a fever. Warm glass of milk with a shot of whiskey and pat of butter. Stir and drink-DO NOT SMELL. Wear p.j.s ,put heavy towel on bed, get in and cover up. You;ll sweat it out.
Prayers and Blessings to all.

"It's a rainy, rainy day... Just a rainy, rainy day..."
Cup of hot chocolate, Chloe, please.
So far today it has rained...... Yep that is all it has done, of course it is now all the way up to 57°F... Also under a flood watch here in the Finger Lakes until 6AM tomorrow. Guess I better check the basement and see if water is coming in down there. Might be a good reason to get something done on the layout.... Hmmmmmm. Turned on the heat in the house earlier this morning.
Just got a call a while ago from my son reminding me I needed to be over at his house by 2:30 to watch Granddaughter #2, followed by a phone call from DIL telling me that her mom doesn't need to watch her other daughters kids after all and I don't need to go over to babysit the granddaughters, followed by another call from my son to tell me the same thing.... Good communications on this side of the family!
I drove down to the local office of NYSEG here in Geneva to complain about customer service. They have the Service dept tucked away on the second floor of one of there buildings down there with only a small sign to give the impression that they actually exist... One found they have several human beings (Carbon Based Units) WORKING there!!! I told the lady who waited on me all the gripes I had about the email service, and she went to work changing my reads and correcting the mistake. She also suggested that since I live here and can easily drop by to just take the reading and put it in a locked Drop Box outside the gate and they will enter it for me therefore avoiding having to deal with the absent people at the main office in the Southern Tier... She also gave me a local number to call to get information about how Net Metering actually shows up on my bill as she had no idea. I told her I take all the nasty things I have said about NYSEG. That is why I prefer to speak with a real human being rather than talk to a computer that tells me to hang up and call the emergency Number or gives me a list of 8 or 9 different options to dial, none of which have anything to do with what my question is. Man! I hate the way companies do business today! This is the reason why I do business locally with real people who live and work in this community rather than by computer whenever possible.
Mr. Beasley, if they recorded Barry's coughing and hacking, it would sound about the same as all the other sound bits they put out actually....

Well, erm
As RAY said, tis raining. posta rain all night and into tomorrow. Then rain except Sun for the next 7 days.Days like this are just for napping all day, dunno why i am so tired on rainy days, but i sure feel it in my bones!
LIKE RAY said, we go into the NYSEG {"New York State Electric and Gas" for those who don't know}office there are only 3 people working there...to deal with the bills..usually to pay when we owe nothing! We confuse the 'puter and with MOH out of work so much lately, i let it go to take advantage of the freebie months as they owed us nearly $600 of services at The end of the year balanced billing cycle.
GOt the left half of the planter planted with the Merry golds. The right half is cleared of weeds, but not yet planted. The pond is gross...so gross gonna have to drain it and refill it with new water. Can't find the syphon hose, have to get a new one.
awaiting the next wave of bills to hit. Keeps someone in a j-o-b to answer my bill payments via mail. Also keeps the PO in working order.
GOt my TRAINS mag renewal today..just over $40. Have to think about it now. MOH only had 3 hours this week. Here's to a better week next week, though I doubt it? The college kids are home and they get priority if there longer than MOH, which MOH doesn't get.

Well we had some pretty nasty storms come through and it wasn't even the really nasty looking stuff that was on the radar. There was some wind, quite a bit of rain and there were at least three lightning strikes close by including one that rattled my windows real good. If one of them ever breaks I'll be impressed considering they're Lexan polycarbonate. Looking at the radar I see more nastiness approaching so I'm going to shut down and let it pass. I may be back on later but in the event I'm not y'all have a good one.
