Getting late. Night everyone.

Oh yes, Gary, my throat has cleared up, and by wanting a Dauntless, I meant the real thing. 1:1 proportion in other words. Big Smile

Evening guys

Been working on cleaning some stuff up to try to sell it. My broadway SW7 showed up. Exceptit's the wrong loco. It's an NW2, not an SW7... I'm still happy though.

Ken, I think I used a 640 resistor. That's what the bulk pack of LEDs I got off of ebay came with. I haven't had one burn out with them yet.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf please....

Today went by fast!  Never did get to do anything with the trains... Getting to be a habit unfortunately.Grumpy  I did get a lot of other stuff done that I needed to get done including several NMRA items hanging over my head.  Updated the membership list for the Division, and got a few things in progress for the April Meet.  I still need to find a few layouts for the afternoon layout tour and one more clinic for the morning session.  I also went downtown this afternoon to pick up the proofs for the MLK Scholarship Dinner Invitations.  We only found one change needing to be made for this year not already done.  I will take that back down on my rounds tomorrow and have him print them.  I stopped in at the Pharmacy and picked up the medication for Blackie.

Tomorrow I get the permanent crown put in after I get back from feeding my sisters cats.  Then it will be monthly meeting of the R&GV RR Museum.  We will be having a program on the Hojack Bridge.  Lee, you gonna drive over for it?  Should be a good one.

I am starting to worry about Ulrich....  Been a few days since he said he wasn't feeling well!

Prayers for all of you in need!  Have a good night.

I need to do my evening blood work, plug in the car and then head out to cut some Zzz

Gonna be a low of 42 tonight. No mention of rain. Went to my fathers place tonight for dinner. Chili dogs with pepper-jack and cheddar cheese and onion. I had four, he got through three and a half. Probably going to need to double the insulin tonight.

I salvaged a pair of spark arrestors from a Proto 2000 SW9 and put them on my Athearn KCS 4331 SW1500. I also got a little more cleaning up done on the layout. I can actually see the front of the firehouse now!

hang in there guys! the newest units.

Gary - Are those Kato units? I like the Amtrak Phase 1 scheme.

Thanks Curt, yes Alex these two are indeed Kato's. I plan on picking up a couple more, I've figured a way to get amtrak to run with my fictional BN passenger service. they could run ex Milw. road trains, and UP trains, just need to get the coaches for them. plus some GN coaches for that rainbow train I've been wanting to put together and run.

Good Morning

We had an all day sun yesterday...wonderful but cold, as per usual this time of year. Today will feature more cloud than sun and our usual ....snowflurries...sigh

Yesterday was an...ermm...how do you call it...oh...an 'interesting day...another brokenpipeville kinda day...this time at work...in our basement...where we park our cars...thankfully it only got to 6" deep there...but it was interesting getting the cars out of there...and to find parking for them...Whistling

Today? More report writing and confusion as well...oh well...Bang Head

Good morning. It's 45° with 74% humidity. The high will be 68°. What the heck happened to spring!

Gonna try again today to do more cleanup on the layout. It's looking better. No other plans at this time.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and scrambled eggs with hashbrowns and picante sauce on top please. Oh and could I get a English muffin with butter and apple jelly too? Thanks.

Well got that cold day out of the way, second day of Spring looks to be just a bit better. Let's see what it says....Sunny, with a high near 34. Surprise   WHAT???!!! Yesterday they were saying in the low forties!!!! (grumble, grumble, grumble…) I hate groundhogsGrumpy. They’re LIARS!

Yup, good to see Chris back in. I see JP slid in for his check in too.Yes

Well Chris, I’ve heard talk of the Futura floor wax thing and it seems to be ok from those who speak of it. Myself, I’m like Garry….well not exactly, you could easily tell us apart if we were standing together. Or even if we weren’t standing together. In fact I think it would be pretty easy to tell us ap…what? Oh sorry Flo. Anyway, like Garry said, I’d be afraid to do it. Though who knows maybe someday. But not needing vinyl floor polish kinda limits that possibility.

Jeremy- Naah, I wouldn’t worry about it. Nobody’s perfect, except.., maybe Ziva, but I doubt they expect you to not make mistakes ever. And you haven’t been there that long so…. Just refer to the mistakes casually and like Paul said, kinda make it known you didn’t like making the errors. But casually as in don’t dwell on it. You know, don't let it go from them thinking, well at least he cares, to yah yah yah...so you made a mistake. enough already. Then, hope today’s better than the other day.

Well throats a bit achy today and the head is stuffed up. Sick? Nope not really. Just sinuses. Get them every year in the Spring and fall. Though there was a period of time there when I didn’t…Hmm..hm. Wonder what was different.....Anyway, not much they can do as they’ve tried all sorts of things over the years from prescriptions to shots and of course OTC's. Best thing I find is generic Actifed. But, can’t take that “as directed" for more than a couple days as I become disconnected so to speak. Like I have to think about anything said to me or when I have to say something. Weird. So, I just take it an hour before bed and then I only lay there for an hour coughing and up and down getting rid of….things until I finally fall asleep. Not to that point yet, but should be say early next week if all goes as usual.

Welp, enough of THAT! On to something more pleasent..Confused.., pleasant. Today is an I don’t know what I’ll do until w**k day. Guess I cooooould go play in the trainroom.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Mornin gang! Cowboy

Good call on breakfast Todd, Flo, I'll have what he's havin!Big Smile

Oh what fun yesterday was. About a week ago we noticed a crack in the glass on the woodstove. So I called  the place I normally get supplies from (twice as far but dirt cheap compared to the local dealer) and ordered the glass after crawling all over the stove to get him a model #. Got a call Monday it was in so I went to get it yesterday,. Also picked up a new gasket, and some stove door cleaner. Wanna guess how much? Try $90.00 just for the glass!Surprise Yes, a roughly 12x12 piece of tempered "ceramic" glass! WOW! Surprise The  worst part though was installing it. Seems you have to scrape the gasket mating surface, squeeze out the sealer (very stiff stuff, recommend channel locks) and try to get the gasket material to stick to a vertical surface, all while installing the glass.Surprise You need a trained octopus to do all this at once. I finally got it, let it cure the recommended time, lit the fire then fell asleep in the lazy boy with Tinkerbell til SWMBO came home.

Not much on the agenda today, gonna clean the basement then decal some engines. Yesterday was the 1st day of spring, but we got a dusting of s**w last night, and temps in the low 30's today. What happened??Confused

Tomorrow we go to a funeral. A co-worker of the wife's (I also know him) lost his wife Monday night in a traffic accident. Seems an 18 year old girl in a SUV slid off the road, over corrected, and shot back across the road striking his wife's Honda head on. She died instantly, their 18 year old son was flown to Shock Trauma and is expected to recover. She was only 45.  He is a Baltimore fire fighter, contractor and realty agent. I'm expecting a crowd. Sigh

Future floor wax, Great for refreshing water features on the layout, just don't let SWMBO catch ya sneakin it out of the kitchen!Wink

Any word from Ulrich yet?Question

Italian roast coffee in a   AT&SF   mug, please.

Everyone is so busy with various projects, I'm tuckered out just reading about it.Laugh Been busy here, too. Workers are back at it this morning building fence. Later I'll have them give me a hand with the big culvert pipe and bags of quickrete to shore up the sides. Need to make it a safe crossing for horses and of course tractors. Farrier comes in the afternoon to trip some minis. Will be a busy day.

Have a good one all.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the #2 special, eggs over easy, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast with grape jelly....  Oh and a pot or two of dark roast coffee in my R&GV RR mug, please and thank you Ma'am!

Need the coffee to warm up!  Already been out doing some errands this morning.  Stopped at the printer to have them make one change on the Invites for the Scholarship dinner, went over and got my allergy shot, then to the pharmacy and picked up the Rx that wasn't ready yesterday when I went there.

It is chilly outside here in the Finger Lakes on the second day of Spring!  Currently 26°F with a high of 29° later this afternoon.  It is cloudy with the big yellow thing popping through every once in a while.  While I was having my coffee earlier I looked out and saw the first Robin in the yard!  So I guess Spring is actually here.  There was also a pair of cardinals, a couple wrens, and a pair of morning doves checking out the lawn next to small flock of starlings....  Right now there are some little white thingies floating around out there...

I'm recharging the PiP for the daily trip to my sister's house to take care of Claude the cat and his outdoor pal.  They stare at each other through the window on the porch.  My sister got a harness so Claude can go outside with here on a leash, and the two cats play when he is out.  Later this afternoon I get the permanent crown put in.  I'll be glad to be able to eat with both sides of my mouth again....

Rob, glad you have found some workers to ease the load for you!

Keeping Ulrich in my prayers!

Catch you all later...

Howdy everybdoy.

I'll have a Rueben sandwich on marble rye bread, please. Yum!

I just order a good quality replacement drive from NWSL for my Bachmann Doodlebug. The existing drive is Cheapy-Joe and min has broken axle gears. Replacement parts from Bachmann have been unavailable in the months I have been looking. I should have a nice running Doodlebug in a few weeks.

I have other projects planned for the Heartland Shops, and I will update later. I doubt productivity will match the Sundown Shops, however.

Cheers, everybody.

Good afternoon everybody, A stack of bacon double cheeseburgers sounds like a good idea for Rerun and I as we try to figure out how to finish-up a business feature for THAT Editor. Don't know why, but the "easy" assignments seem to give me the most fits.

Thanks to those who weighed-in on the floor polish. I got a bottle of it yesterday and grabbed a foobie hopper THAT is being scrapped-out. Applied a coat of the polish. Nothing. Still flatter than flat. I grabbed a body shell from another foobie THAT had already been scrapped-out, applied a coat, and yeah...it's got a "glossy" finish now. I'd say it needs at least one, maybe two more coats before I'd say its glossy enough for decals though. So, 50-50 results.

I'll wait until I make the next Walthers order and pay Testors' ransom for the real stuff.

Anybody need a bottle of floor polish?

Have a good, SAFE day!

Chris (in frozen Iowa)

 Evening Folks!

Flo, a few Beer and put them on Vince's Tap, he owes me!

Was up at 4:00 AM and could not fall back to sleep. Poked around some on the site then watched a NCIS marathon, still think Abby is hotter than Ziva.

Train Front, well I felt better than I thought I would today and worked on the trains.

Sort of got the Bachmann GP 30 and the PK GP 20 speed matched. Whistling Did not realizes that the Bachmann decoder did not have CV 5 and 6, that is just stupid! But then again, if all you are running is a E-Z  Command for a DCC system, you can't change CV's anyway. But then why can you change CV 2, 3 and 4? Whistling Had to set the PK GP 20 CV2 too 20 and CV 6 to 210 to get them closes to each other.

Most shocking thing? The Proto GP 20 was till working! Whistling

OH Vince's, did I make you mad or do you just don't like me? Whistling

OK, I was ready to get the PK 2000 SD 9 B&O on the line! Been looking forward to getting this one running, they are good pullers! Installed a DH 163PS decoder and gave her a try, well the lights came on and that was it? Must be a Florida Engine thing! Whistling Tried reading the CV's using my PR 3, all the values came up as Zeros. Must be a defective decoder me thinks. Wrote CV's 2, 5 and 7 and changed the address to 77. Sat it on the test track and the DH 400 address was still on 3, engine start to run I picked it up and reinstalled and it was not running.

Sat the throttle to address 77, well the lights worked and that was it, seems familiarLaugh Took it back to the PR3 and tried to reread the CV's. Only one's I could read where the ones I had written, OK bum decoder. Installed a DH 123, want to guess what happened? Exact same thing!

So, either either Engines that come from Florida get mad because it is cold here or I made Vince mad and he is paying me back! Laugh

By the way Vince's I am not mad at you at all at this point just kidding around. My guess is the SD 9 has a bad PC board in it. My SD 7 sort of did the same-thing, ran fine with the DC plug in it but install a decoder, nothing. I bought one from Walther's and it was either $10.00 or $15.00. More than likely I will hard wire the engine.

If it would not be that much trouble, I would like the harness back I sent you. Seems I have need of them again. Sorry, I did not get the Grab irons out today, but the are ready.

See you all later, I am BBQing Dinner

Hi Guys,

Had a much better day today at work then yesterday, even though I was using a air line to blow off some machinery and I went a bit too far and the line wouldn't retract back inside the reel Stick out tongue they said the maintenance guy would fix that.

Went to the hobby shop ( about 25 minutes away ) and picked up some stuff. I always enjoy going to the hobby shop, didn't have time to look around today though. I also ordered my 2013 Canadian track side guide so hopefully that will arrive early next week. Going to go have a poke around the forums.

Afternoon guys

Been busy cleaning up a bunch of stuff to sell around here. I managed to get the original hood back on my car after some finagling (Read, cutting some of the underside ribs out with a dremel, and hammering some vacuum lines to clear). Works fine, and I might be able to get a couple hundred for the cowl one.

Ken, IDK what's up with the SD9, but then I never tested it on DCC... Maybe they don't like the colder weather??? Did you try the SD9 on DC or DCC address 0? If it ran on DC or 0, it might be the harnes you used (I think installing it beckwards might cause that issue), or digitrax's decoder issues (They are about an hour west of me, I stopped buying new digitrax decoders)... I can send the other harnesses back.. I'd try putting them on the programming track and reset them.

Evening all -

I'm about to start work on building my 1st layout. I found a interesting (to me at least) 2' x 6' layout in the 2013 issue of MRP. It is mostly switching but also only has 3 businesses on it. It also has a street along the back side with a row of 5 businesses that are street side and also has a creek running through it.

Anyways, I figure I'll start building tomorrow and see how it goes from there. Pictures will be posted for all to see as I progress in my 1st layout venture. Even if it doesn't come out good or even useful, I can always calk up the learning as gaining experience in building a layout.

Well, hope all is well. Have a good evening.

Weather guesser says it'll be 55 tonight with a 20% chance of rain. Bit warmer than last night. I got a little more work done on the layout. Not as much as I would have liked. Today it was my own physical limitations that got in the way. My knee is still hurting and I couldn't keep my weight on it for long. After it was hurting bad enough that I just said the heck with it and stayed off my feet the rest of the day.

Well, time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
