I used the money I made to buy a bulk pack of kadee couplers, some faller glue, a miniture air eraser, and a plier set (apparently you can't just buy the small square-end pliers)...

Ok, I'll bite... what pray tell is a miniature air eraser?????????????

My left eye is really bugging me tonight. It's displaying all the symptoms of conjunctivitis. Pink eye for those lacking in understanding of medical terminology. I've been more or less expecting it. If it was going to appear it was a 90% chance to be in early spring with a high amount of pine pollen and this last couple weeks it' been heavy. Four days out of seven there was enough on the windshield of my van that I couldn't see through it. Using eye drops it should be cleared up in a week or two. Problem is my left eye is my good one. I have a bad astigmatism that makes me fairly blind on the right side without my glasses and the glasses warp things that I'm looking at close-up. That's going to put a crimp in anything that requires a straight line.

I put the F unit trio of Frankenlocos in the display rack today. That leaves the layout to a consist of four FP7's and a consist of two GP7's, a GP35 and a slug. The FP7's got a good run today. Nothing else was done on the layout.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Ken it's no wonder you are having problems with that decoder install. I've never smoked steaks before, do they smell funny like when ya smoke mary jo anna??? Whistling

As for my decoder front, I was all set to do the install and then looked at my shaky hands from too much coffee and decided I'd do it tomorrow BEFORE I drank coffee. Funny, coffee never used to do that to me. Confused

***Ken, cool layout pic. Really like the look of that loco!

***Jeffrey, where is the toy shipment heading? Surely not to all us big kids here in the Diner, eh?Whistling

Got almost all of the used models fixed back up as well as I could with a few of the plastic parts broken. Only one missing a small part which I'll have to replace with something. Almost time to try some weathering.

Healing thoughts to those in need.

Good Night all.

My eyes is crossed, my fingers have blue & orange paint on them, neck is sore, and I have a few cuts from an errant exacto blade, BUT the triplets have all the paint and decals installed! Going to the LHS tomorrow and getting the missing detail parts, MAYBE have 3 GP9's ready for a maiden run tomorrow night??

This is how the GP9's looked before (the 38 is already in service)

Good evening, I think a good 'ol traditional RBF is in order for this late night.

I was up at 0600 and out the door by 0700 for two assignments this morning for THAT Editor. First up was a 5K run at a running shoe store in North Liberty. After THAT, a quick trip to Swisher and the American Legion Post there. They've got a Junior Shooting Sports Program going. In an era where some are trying to turn people, especially kids, away from guns; it is refreshing to see a group introducing kids to guns while stressing safety, responsible handling/use, and instilling respect rather than fear.

The kids use .177-caliber air rifles, and how in the heck they hit those tiny little target circles ten meters away, I'll never know!

TODD: Yup, spray bombs w**k well for me, I was just hoping to find something more economical than the Testors products. Will give Krylon a try. The floor polish is the stuff THAT looks like it would have to be dipped, dipped again, dipped again, dipped again, and dipped again to get a good enough gloss to avoid the dreaded "silvering" of the decals. On a more positive note, Rerun is gonna love slipping, sliding and spinning around on THAT kitchen floor once I get around to THAT!

Woah....THAT's some darn-nice looking geeps there KARLBow

I was gonna comment on some other things, but can't seem to remember what they were! I will say this though, as for THAT stupid groundhog, I'm not sure what's worse: the worthless rodent being dead wrong, or those of us (myself included) who actually believed the worthless rodent!Bang Head

Have a good, SAFE Sunday everybody,

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and the Sunday Breakfast Buffet please. Thanks.

Well they lied againGrumpy. Probably an inch on the ground now, though it’s just starting to stick to the concrete. Let’s see what they pulled out of the magic weatherman’s bu… hat today. Snow, mainly after 7am. High near 34.  Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible. Tonight Snow. Low around 27.   Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possibleGrumpy.  Hm….inch already, got til 7 am and it’s snowing now soooo, whatever adds up then after 7 possibly 7 inches, then another 3 tonight…I got 11” there. So much for as much as 8 to 9. Maybe I should have got the sn*wblower out this time.

Garry- Is that a snack tray I spy attached to the facia?? BRILLIANT!!!!! Looking good by the way.

Ken—Let me get this straight. BOS (funny because the bank I have our mortgage through is  Bank Of Springfield….BOS) has a finding against them for wrongful actions against VA loans, had to pay restitution…..and they’re still doing it.Tongue Tied

Welp I’ve pretty much decided that I’m not going to Church today, I’ll just have to wait to wave palm fronds next year. Actually the sinus pressure has gone down a lot and for THAT I feel muuuuch better. But I’m not really feeling like I wanna sit in Church and sniff, and blow my nose every 2 minutes, then go into a coughing fit as my body tries to forcefully expel some vial substance that’s drained dow…Indifferent... Yes Flo I’ll shut up. Now will you please take the fork away from the back of my head.

Anyway, decided that in between peeks out the window and deciding if I should get the snowblower out, I shall w**k on the railroad. Actually got in there for a bit yesterday too. Gotta figure out lighting too. But first….WPF trip.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Morning guys

Just a drop in before work. Grabbed some cars that needed kadees out of storage and put them on the bench. I noticed on most of the last cars I weathered with an airbrush, the weathering comes off if rubbed or it gets wet. Probably good since some of them were over-done. I just wonder how to get it to stick. I used Testor's model master acrylics thinned with 70% alcohol, I didn't wash the models before hand. I'm thinking testors wants me to use their thinner...

Karl, nice Geeps. Any pics of the front of those? I'm curious about the cabs on the chop-nose GPs.

Chris, I like rustoleum and valspar for spray paint. It's just they don't have anything that looks like a BN green.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Garry- Is that a snack tray I spy attached to the facia?? BRILLIANT!!!!! Looking good by the way.

Todd .... To clear it up that was Terry's photo of his layout. My layout is the one with the built in wet bar, microwave oven, refigerator, and pizza oven. Whistling .... Kidding, of course, about my layout. Perhaps, Barry, if anybody has all of that stuff on his layout for his Barry-sized goodies.

Terry, that is a good idea to have shelf  there.

Todd .... Will you be installing a wok shelf soon on your layout?

Karl ..... You're doing good work with the locomotives. Is that a real short line or are you freelancing?

Our Cincinnati granddaughters have next week off at school. Our son and his wife work, so we "volunteered" to have them here. Yesterday, we met "half way" in Louisville to bring them here. "Half way" means we drove 200 miles one way, and they drove 120 miles one way. How's that for math?  (I bet next weekend we do the full 320 miles one way) ...... One was getting over a cold, but the second one came down with it overnight. So, we're staying home from church with a sick granddaughter.

Morning gang!

Cherry pie and coffee this morning Flo! Whaddaya mean pie aint a breakfast food, Its got flour, eggs and fruit right?Mischief

Snack tray on the layout I hear?? Don't know if I'd go that far, but since there is a mini fridge in the basement, (stocked with soda and Beer) I am considering cup holders next to the card holders on the fascia.Big Smile

Chris, those .177 air rifles are a great way to start with gun safety. Very easy to handle, no kick, and depending on the make, very accurate. My latest one (I've had several since I was 10) came with a scope and a velocity of 2200 fps. Actually more velocity than a standard .22. Nice little varmint gun that wont disturb the neighbors!   My son and I both can hit the center of the o on a diet coke can from 100 feet, no prob!

Vincent, I hope to, done or not, have some pics soon, I'll try to get a good front shot for ya. I will tell you this much. By far, the easiest cab to use is an Atlas SD24 cab, then for the center windshield post I cut    from an Athearn cab and glue it in.

Todd. Yes they will be Md Midland units, a 67 mile shortline that runs near here. Have fun with the grandkids, and good luck with the 320 mile trip next week!Wink

Gotta run, need more parts for the geeps, my LHS doesn't have what I need, so the nearest shop that does is Gettysburg or Blue Ridge Summit,,,so ROADTRIP!! Big Smile

Good morning. It's 52° with 63% humidity. The high will be 62°. A wind advisory is in effect.

Please pardon any typos that may appear. My vision is very fuzzy this morning. My left eye is very sensitive to light. Just looking at the video screen hurts. My right eye is acting up a bit as well so my glasses don't help much. Spell checker is being kept very busy.

No layout work planned for today. Winds outside are 25-30mph with gusts around 35-40mph. Good day for sleeping I think.

  Morning All,

Currently 34 with an expected high of 61 under mostley sunny skies.

Well was able to use the truck yesterday, but did not get to Home Depot for the foam. Plus got home too late to w**k on the layout. So today I will see what materials I have stashed in the garage and make a list for a trip to H. D. sometime in the future. See if there is anything I can use, I already have, and maybe get some modeling done.

    Prayers to all in need.

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, just a cup of hot chocolate for me please...

Just popping in to say I am still around.  Been busier than I have been in a long time.  Got home from camp last night well after 10PM to find my son had been calling me all evening.  He was just about to get in his car and drive over to see if I was alright when I called him back.  He had forgotten I told him I would be out to camp all day.  Seems that the Granddaughters were to sing at church this morning, and DIL had no way to get them there as she still can't drive.  I got to get up very early and chauffeur them all this morning.  I had to be there to usher anyway, but needed to get them there an hour earlier.

I got the Down's Syndrome Scout through the rest of the RR Merit Badge yesterday, and started another Scout on the Music MB as well.  It also looks like I may be taking over full time as the troop's Commissioner.  The other commissioner wants to just work with the pack associated with the troop and have me take over the troop.  I agreed that would be willing to do that, so the arrangements just have to be made for it.  It was fun to be out to camp for the day with the Scouts....

I will be driving to Canandaigua just as soon as I hit "post" to feed the cats there.  Sure hope the girl made it over to feed them yesterday!  I sure can't complain about being bored, but I do wish I could find some time for the trains!

Good to see some folks in here that haven't been in much lately!

Prayers for all in need!

Karl, seems a bit simpler than my doing. I take the atlas SD24 cab and cut the center out. Then I cut down a Des Plaines Hobbies window insert to fit... It's tricky to do without going over, as there is litle margin for error or to put filler and a file. An attestment to the riskyness of the procedure, I've attempted it 5 times, and had 3 successes. Out of those successes, only 2 were useable (to me at least) as the filler I had used on the other ate part of the window frames away. There might be a better way, as I've head Perscion Scale makes some parts to do this. Unfortunately, I have to buy their catalog to see what they have.Grumpy I wish Atlas had SD26 cabs in stock, or Cascade & Pacific Shops still made their BN-specific kit (which included a nose)

Luckily I only need one of my cabs right now, the second I'm saving for another project... (whenever I pick up another P2K Geep)

Well it was a good race right up to Joey Logano's BONEHEAD move that put Hamlin in the hospital! Hope Denny is ok.

Got the main and sidings done almost to Cameron before the race:

Then I made 41 pines while watching the race:

Still need to hit them with hairspray and ground foam when the glue dries.

All in all a pretty productive MRR day!

That's all for now!

It's gotten cooler here. At this time it's 51° but a 25mph north-west wind coming off the lake is making it feel colder, enough so that I have the heater on low right now to keep it at 70° in my little trailer. The weather guesser is talking about getting down to freezing tonight. It's looking like this cool streak will continue for most of the week. No layout work today but I did run the FP7 consist for a little while. I plan on repainting three of them.
