Good morning. It's 65° with 100% humidity. The high will be 80°.

It's been a long day for me already as I've been up since 3am. I'm operating on three and a half hours of sleep. Maybe I can catch a nap later. I'm going to try to get more done on the layout today. I got a good start yesterday but I have to keep it going. The extension is almost clutter free. Once that's cleared away I can get started on cleaning up the east side where I'll eventually put in some structures for Knutsville.

Good morning.

Gut hurts today, but I think that it may just be acting up for some reason. Otherwise, nothing out of the ordinary.

Rob, on the 1957 Lionel Train.  If you pm me with the details I can look it up in my book.  There were a lot of sets sold through Sears, Montgomery Ward and JC Penny.  Those typically do not hold much resale value as they produced them in the thousands and several examples still exist. A friend had one that was given away with cereal box tops in 1959 and he expected to get $700 to $1,000 for it as it turned out it was worth $7.00 since they had produced about 1M copies of that train set for various companies (Kleenex, Korn Flakes, Borax).

Curt, I’ll be sending a box out this week.

I went to the Lakeland Train Show in Kirtland, not to be confused with the Lakeland Quilting Show in Florida….  Last year it seemed none of the HO or N scale vendors came out but this year there was plenty of Horribly Oversized and Nvisable scale trains.  The big purchase for me was 3 Pre-1950 oiling cans and some rolling stock.

Past few months have been really busy here.  Normally I get my coffee and check messages and email and jump on the diner while I enjoy my first cup of coffee.  The past few months it’s been walk in and attack 7-8 major problems and put out 3 fires.  Not sure what’s gotten into everyone…

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and a Denver omelet please, thanks.

A chance of drizzle before 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 47. It’s drizzling now.

No Irish food yesterday. Made some shrimp gumbo instead. Didn’t turn out that great. A bit watery for my liking.

Good turnout at Church for the Sanctuary sprucing debut, but was also told I have a BUNCH of stuff to do today in regards to deposits (good) and bills (not so good). Many little ones so could take me awhile.

Oh well, can’t think of a better place to spend my Birthday than at the Church. Unless it’d be the trainroom or a steak house!

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Dull and drab today..have about 1-2" more snow to fall this afternoon...again...sigh....

mmmm...seems Church stuff is the name of the game around here as well...two committee meetings and a budget thing to attend to here then off to the mall to try and get in some mall walking...maybe work in  little time for the trains as well...

Have a good one!!

Good Morning All,

23F and overcast this morning. At least the monster convergent s**wstorm has been cancelled for now. Guess is now for 1-2" instead of a foot or more.

Happy B-Day Happy Birthday Todd! Chinese food on the menu for tonight?

Back in the shop and ready  to pick up tools (no, I'm really ready to pick up tools - I left a mess Saturday).

Good morning.

TODD! .... Happy Birthday! ...... Is it today or was it yesterday? ....... Did you get any neat presents? Did Brenda give you a new pair of chop sticks? ....

Today is birthday cake day in the diner. ..... Yum!

CA Dennis .... I think $368 is a bit high too, but I also think it will be worth it. Flying is too stressful in my opinion. I'm old enough to recall traveling by train in the 1950's when the USA had the best trains in the world. It bothers me that governemnt caused the demise of those trains so we can either drive on congested highways (with pot holes) or suffer airport stress. Amtrak has a handful of nice trains, but they have lousy schedules and are normally running late.  .... I'm glad to be able to continue with my HO 1950's era passenger trains.

Cheers, everybody. ..... Don't eat too much b'day cake.

Strong coffee in a STORMY & SOUTHERN mug, please.

***Todd... HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!

***Lee, I'm still waiting to hear back from the man with the Lionel, but after checking the "sets" on line, I doubt it is what my oldest brother had. I know his locomotive was a Hudson with many separate cars and I do not see anything like that in the typical "sets" from that year. IF it turns out to be something interesting, I'll will pm you with the details for further investigation. Thanks!

Chance of severe thunderstorms today. Might try to get some more firewood cut up before Mother Nature whips it up.

Have a good day all.

Cheers! Rob

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, I'll have the Reuben Sandwich with french fries and a cup of dark roast coffee for lunch today.

Happy Birthday Todd!  Do you feel a year older?  Hope you have a great day and the other half takes you to the Chinese place for dinner tonight!

I spent part of this morning at the dentist office...  They decided not to put the temp crown back in as I have not been in any pain (came completely off last night and I bit down on it lodging it between the two teeth in front of it...  THAT was painful until I got it out!).  Also moved up the putting in of the permanent crown to this Thursday as it is arriving tomorrow.  I could have gotten it tomorrow afternoon but tomorrow I have to chauffeur my sister to the airport first thing in the morning and then spend all afternoon watching granddaughter #2 and probably be there to get Granddaughter #1 off the bus.

Tonight there is a local, Ontario County RR history program over at the Museum here in Geneva.  They are also hosting a display of photos of the Railroads of Geneva.  I hope to be there for it since I missed the program when it was given in Canandaigua and at least a dozen people have send me information about it....

I have made a bit of progress over the last week on the layout.  Finished some trees and built a stone fence and a stacked cedar fence in the area.  I have a third type of fence I am going to use there also along the road and the RR ROW.

Catch you all later!

  Morning All,

Currently 40 with an expected high of 65.

W**k has kept me busy and with varying schedules, not much time to be in the diner or w**k on the layout.

But Wednesday is approaching and I should get some layout w**k in, and this coming weekend is my weekend off so maybe more layout time.

     Todd - Happy B-Day

Well as usual my chances of getting any layout work done this morning were doomed. I had only time to take a couple of photos before my father called with plans that seemed like good things to do. I got home a little after 11am and now due to little sleep last night I don't feel like doing anything. I did get a halfway descent shot this morning. It's a side of Ezra's Exxon that's rarely seen.

Happy Birthday Todd...   Have an extra serving of shrimp fried rice on me. Get any new toys?

So another St. Paddy's day is under our belt. Like Ray, I'm Orange Irish, but that doesn't mean I don't believe in them little leprechauns and the wee fairies. Bothersome as they can be.

Did our usual railfanning yesterday and was rewarded with 7 trains and a variety of locomotives. Monday's are our day for breakfast at the restaurant, grocery shopping and any other errands that need doing. But looked out the window this morning to see freezing rain and ice covered sidewalks. Figured everything could wait until tomorrow so I went back to bed. It finally turned to rain a little before noon and then rained most of the afternoon. I did get all the laundry done in one day though.

My friend and next door neighbor passed away in the hospital this afternoon. He has been bouncing between nursing homes and the hospital for a couple of months now. One problem would come up and then that would seem to cause another. I think he just got overwhelmed. I'm going to miss him as we usually spent just about every evening in the summer sitting on his front porch watching the world go by and telling lies. His passing gave me another somber thought. I have outlived all my good friends and just about all the guys I worked with at the fire station when I first went on the job. The older I get, the more I miss them.

But that's life, so we will all get up in the morning and face another day. Hope everybody had a good one today and will have an even better one tommorow.

Afternoon, all. 25f and sn*wing!! Yuck. It was 77f last year today.

Thanks Jeff, JR and Garry! You guys post way better pics than me.

Vincent, thanks and that's actually a Jonny Lightning Camaro. 1/64 scale, but as a foreground item it tends to force the perspective. The scene there is only 12" wide. Most the vehicles you see on my highways are JL's because the benchwork is so narrow.

Happy B-Day, Todd!!

Gary, better camera= better pics! Good for you!

That's all for now!

This is an older pic. Those are JL's on a bench about 10" wide:

I am just whipped tonight. I was going to organize the workshop when I got home from work to see what I need from the hobby shop and craft store on Payday ( Thursday ) but I am just zonked out. I might just go flip through a model railroader and even think about going to bed for 8:30ish.

see you guys tomorrow afternoon.

Evening guys

Kind of a rough day today... Got my schedule for this week and I'm not happy. A total of 14 hours? Guess I should step up the job hunting to include more than degree field stuff.

On the way back I almost had a run-in with a pair of idiot (more of a jerk) drivesr. I was about to pull onto the main road, and I checked oncoming traffic and saw one car in the right lane. I start to pull out and checking the one car to make sure they stay in the right lane; but then someone pulls up in an SUV and blocks my view. I had already started to pull in, and then I hear a horn as I just get onto the road. Turns out the jerk that was in the right lane moved into the left lane at the same time or just after my view was blocked by the SUV. I noticed a mark on the road going from the right to the left... Figures that someone would try to block me from getting onto the main road. IMO, people here are generally jerks, and that's putting it mildly. Instead of people not moving over to let you on the road, you have people moving to block you for getting onto the road. Anyways, the guy tails me and swerves on my bumper for the next 2 miles. When I get to a light, he decides to make a left. I pass him and just glance at the dummy. Well the light turned green for him and as he passes, he slows down and yells "nice driving dips**t, watch were the f**k your going!!" then he punches it so I can't retort (I would have reamed him out). I just flip him the bird because I don't have a loud voice. Somehow, I don't think this is the first time I've had an issue with the same guy... I think that's the same guy that cut me off a few weeks ago. (a silver pontiac, with large black 5-spoke rims)

Terry, the effect works.

Todd, happy birthday.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good Evening All,

We are already past the 1-2" prediction. L

Packer - we have more than our share of idiot drivers here as well. I think it best to just ignore them but as you saw today, sometimes it is impossible. Best not to end up in a confrontation - you never know what the other person is capable of or for that matter if they are carrying. Between the combination of people from "the city" and the illegals driving sans license and insurance here it gets interesting. However the worst place I drive is still Florida all of the above plus a double helping of apprentice morons and tourists DWC (driving while confused). So yeah, patience and turn the other cheek (especially if you can have your passenger moon them).

Ah well time to get some sleep.    Catch Y'all tomorrow.   J.R.

Well due to not much sleep last night I've been running on empty since early this afternoon and really didn't feel like doing anything. I'm hoping I get a good nights sleep tonight. Very little done on the layout today.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
