Evenin' folks!
Janie just a refill for the decaf please. I'll be in the back by the wood stove relaxing and warming up.
Long busy day... Had to take my sister to the Rochester airport this morning. Needed to be at her house around 9:15 AM as I wanted to be able to take it easy on the roads due to the fluffy wet white stuff we had over night. Going the back way to Canandaigua the roads had been salted well and the temp was already up into the high 30's here so the roads were wet but not at all icy. About half way to her house I got behind a guy driving a red pickup truck who figured he wanted to be extra, extra careful and was doing 30mph on the 55mph road.... He pulled out in front of me from a side road causing me to have to hit the brakes solidly. There were no places the whole way to pass him either. Since I refused to tailgate the guy, I was being tailgated by 4 or 5 cars because I evidently was the problem..... Got to my sisters house about 10 minutes later than I had hoped and she was nowhere ready to leave, of course. Then going from Canandaigua to the Thruway, I had lots of the "Get your durn Prius out of the way" from those who are in huge hurry to roar around me because I was only doing the speed limit (30mph) so they can slam on their brakes and sit at the stop light ahead to wait while I catch up with them so they can roar off to the next stop light and repeat the process while talking on the phone. These are the very same people who seem to always complaining about the price of gas..... They drive in ways to maximize their use of the substance per mile. I use about half the amount of gas and get there at the same time they do. Yep, idiot drivers doing stupid things are all over the place!
Got home from the trip to Rochester to get a phone call from my son saying they needed me his house to watch Granddaughter #2 an hour early. I watched the granddaughter, then met the other one at the bus, then took both of them over for the little ones dance class. Then had dinner at their house. Good news is my DIL found out at the doctors that her arm is healing well and she can go back to teaching tomorrow with a few restrictions. She has someone who also teaches there lined up to transport her to work and back. She was very relieved to find the arm is healing OK as she was worried she would have to have surgery which would have kept off work for a much longer time.
No time for the trains today, but maybe tomorrow!

It's gonna be 50 tonight with a possible 50% chance of rain. I got more stuff off the layout today and the phone didn't ring ONCE! Bad thing is I haven't gotten off the extension yet. There's still the east side on the main part of the layout and there's a bunch of stuff under the layout. I also managed to twist my left knee a bit and mow it's aching. The consist of four FP7's is doing so well I'm thinking about moving one of the other two consists back to the display rack. But which one? The F unit Frankenlocos or the GP7's and the GP35 Frankenloco? They all run great but each consist not being used takes up a siding or spur where I could store something else.Well look at the time. I need to wrap this up and call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Evening Folks
Flo, Beer Pleases.
Work Front Man I am beat, ran a cross something new to me and I hate it! Anyone here ever heard of a HDI (think that was what it was called) headlight blub? Dillon had written a ticket on a Mazda to replaces the low beam light blub, to pull the headlight bulb it called for 1.2 hours of labor that equals $122.40 in labor. Cost of the low beam bulb was $20.00 so ticket was $144.40 + tax. While high in cost, we did not design the darn car so that it called for 1.2 hours to install a headlight bulb.
Lady called back and told Dillon to go a head and install a new High Beam bulb because of the high labor cost thinking it would be another $20.00, seems logical to me. Here is where Dillon left me out to dry and dropped the ball big time! The high beam is the HDI bulb and our cost was $75.00 and list was $150.00? To top it all off Dillon did not call her back with the new cost of $294.00!
She shows up and I open the ticket to collect $294.00 for two light blubs? We where booth stunned and she was PO BIG TIME, well so was I. Boy talk about away to finishes up my day! But all turned out well after the fur stopped flying. Seems the tech saw the high beam was working and Dillon did not tell him to replaces $75.00 blub so it was not used, thank goodness!
I was going to work on the trains some tonight, but I am just to darn beat.
Vince, I will mess with the engine first. While I can hard wire I prefer not to of late. But, I do like the engine and I will be repairing some of my other engines anyway.

"And I'm sure that Chris in Iowa is getting (he already has, from an email he sent last week or earlier) his share of the wintry delight!"
You rang?
Figured I'd better stop by and say, "hello and things," so...hello and things.
W**k has been its usual roller coaster of pleasure and pain with three trips to Des Moines for State High School Basketball Tournament action. The Iowa City West High girls failed in their attempt to defend the State Large School title. They were Class 4A champs last year, moved to newly created 5A this season. The West High boys also had a State Title to defend, so I was there for Quarterfinals and back for the Championship. After a particularly crappy start, they got the job done, and THAT Editor got her "trophy shot."
And yes, there was plenty of "wintry delight" involved in the vast majority of the trips! One in particular was "white-knuckle" enough I'm sure I left finger impressions in the steering wheel! Now we be waiting on spring to arrive. I'm thinking of heading to Punxatawny, PA to find THAT groundhog...many of us in these parts would like to shoot the little bugger! Early spring my ...
I've been more or less following the goings-on in here, to all those in difficult times, know THAT the thoughts and prayers are still with you.
RR-wise, the Quaker Oats elevator sits awaiting some material with which to brace the walls and attach the third and final wall. The unloading shed is more-or-less done. I might get a shot of it for you guys, might not. Despite going to great lengths to ensure things were "square," I still managed to somehow fabricate and install "steel w**k" representing the frame w**k on the north end, in a slightly askew skewed manner! I'm not sure just how easy to spot it is, I'm hoping since it'll all be along the wall and have plenty of other "eye candy" around it, THAT it won't be. Then again, I'm about the only one who will be in the RR room most of the time, so its not like there will be a whole bunch of nit-picking goin' on.
Speaking of picking a nit, VINCENT: I'm with you on the Floquil BN green being too light. I used it back in '88 or '89 for a Cargill Salt hopper, it matched the photo I took, but the prototype car was faded. Scalecoat 2 BN green matches Walthers, MDC Roundhouse and Front Range/McKean from my experience. Then again, these kits are also from the late '80s and early '90s. Scalecoat is also a glossy enamel, most excellent for decals while with the Floquil, you'll need a gloss coat.
Which reminds me. Anybody in here use acrylic floor polish instead of Testor's Glosscote? I've got a P2K GP-7 I picked up off of theBay last year, it's coming along nicely except for the realization it isn't quite as, "new in the box" as it was said to be. Anyhow, I need to gloss it so I can decal it for the CNW 4132, replacing an Athearn Blue Box unit. I'm out of the expensive for the amount Testors product, recalled seeing where somebody was saying to use this floor polish instead.
Have a good, SAFE rest of the week,

Well,
I went to the pulmonologist yesterday at the hospital, and insisted MOH go with me to pop into the volunteer office. Did so, and found they had not even processed MOh's application form online yet. {I knew that was the case}. MOH was pleasantly surprised to be "hired" on the spot, but wouldn't have been if MOh hadn't gone in as I insisted!
SO now, MOH has an "in" at the hospital. NOW, we have to scramble to find MOH's immunization records OR get MOH immunized again BEFORE next Monday! {In Laws never kept the records!} We'll ge tthat done too.
Now, that MOH has "somehting to do", MOH will start to feel better avbout self, AND will now get job offers form all over, you watch!
Tomorrow the train nut friend shows up EARLy for a visit{like 7 am}. Living some distance away, is rare anymore to visit as now retired like me.
Today I go banking.
We DID FINALLY get our HEAP award, so this months utility bill is $0.00, can't beat that! Will put THAT payment into savings! The rarity that I can do that these days! It is almsot one Kia payment, so that helps.
WEll, Better get to my daily morning constitutional as I want to hit the banks and CU early..mAYBE our Income tax refund is in, too? THAT will also go directly to savings.WOuld have made a nice vacation money, but that is on hold too. SO nice to put IN instead of taking OUT what little we have in there.
My back is killing me as we did some perusal shopping yesterday after the Doctors. MOh's is to as shoveled some sn*w. Speaking of sn*w, supposed to be winter here for at least the next 2 weeks.*groan*
well, best get to things.
Later
Have a GREAT day.

Ohio drivers for the most part are pretty good until they drive by an accident. “Rubberneckers” the accident could be on lane 1 of a 12 lane highway and they will slow down just to look.
The only drivers I wave at are the ones that fly past me while I’m driving in ice and snow and I catch up to where they slid off into a field….

Morning All,
Getting ready to head out and run a couple of errands. Fighting off a cold. Yesterday it reached 90F here according to the weather guesser. He also said in 2012 we had 136 days of 90+ temps.
I hope Ulrich is just resting and getting some peace and quiet after what he has been going through.
Todd- Sorry I missed your . Hope you had a great one.
Chris- Good to see you back in the Diner.
Ray- That is great looking scenery especially the fence.
Jeff- Thats a neat pic with the van and airstream. It looks like what I have seen in the past.
I w**k again tomorrow so I will try to check in again later.
Hope everybody has a good day and prayers for those in need.

Good morning. It's 48° with 93% humidity. The high will be 70°.Well we got a lot of lightning, thunder and showers last night. Didn't sound like much wind though. Today I'm going to try cleaning up the layout some more. I almost have the extension cleared of clutter.
Howdy, everybody ...
Chris ..... Good to see you in the Diner. It's always good to hear another story about THAT editor. You we don't have to ask-you about "slightly askewed skewed manner". Your excesed from that conversation now. .... Regarding the floor polish idea, I would be afraid to do that myself.
Ulrich .... Are you looking in? Let us know how you are. You must have changed email addresses because the one I had does not work.
Galaxy ..... I hope thing work well for Mrs. Galaxy and the hospital job.
Ken ..... Funny you should mention the expensive headlights. Car designers are making it costly to change bulbs. A few months ago, I spent $85.00 for labor to change a turn signal bulb located in the front bumper of Shelley's car. That was upsetting. Well guess what. .... The other front turn signal bulb died on our way home from Cincinnati. Instead of going to Mr. Goodwrench for another $85.00 bill, I went elsewhere. I watched two guys struggling to change that bulb. It took them an hour, and the bill was $55.00. ...... This used to be a simple job the car owner could easily do himself. .... What has our world come to?
Jeff ..... I also like the Airstream on your layout.
Cheers, everybody!

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Afternoon folks....
Chloe just a cup of hot chocolate for me at the moment...
Didn't get in here this morning. Decided since my sisters cat hadn't been fed since yesterday morning I would run to Canandaigua and get that duty over with for the day before lunch. I set up an extension cord from her old washing machine plug (20 amp) down cellar going out the unused dryer vent along with the cords for her "Holiday lights". Between my 35' long cord and the EVSE (the charging cord) for the Pip I could just reach the port, got that charging, then fed and played with her cat. I was able to get 1 hour of charge which gave me 4.1 miles of EV for the trip home. By the time I went down the hill by the RR tracks at the edge of town I had regenerated some and had 4.3 miles to help get home. My gas mileage for the trip home (16 miles) ended up being 97 mpg. Not too shabby.
Got back home and dealt with several emails needing replies, had lunch, and decided to check in here. I have a couple errands to do this afternoon as soon as the PIP is recharged again. Then I have to w*rk on the Division Membership list and get the notice that our latest newsletter is up on line. May even get a few minutes to visit the train room if I am lucky!
Oh... Thanks Kurt!

Hi Guys
BAD DAY AT WORK
Anybody here ever have one of those days where everything you do doesn't work or you make a mistake, and it happen to be in front of the boss.....??? Thats what happen to me today. I was mad and angry at myself and also embarrassed when I'm told I did something wrong. Can anybody lend me any suggestions to me? am I just thinking about it too much? and should just brush it aside as a bad day and go in tomorrow as its a new day??
Any help would be great guys
I dont know if Im in a mood to work on the railroad tonight.
JeremyBam I just thinking about it too much? and should just brush it aside as a bad day and go in tomorrow as its a new day??
Boy, we just CAN'T catch a break!
MOH needs immunization records for volunteering at the Hospital.
Problem IS..some were given in Germany, and some here. Here, In Laws have no records kept of them. MOH called the school MOH graduated from for record. Well, guess what? The records were kept in a storage building that was in the flood plane of 2011 and now has the toxic black mold in it!
THEN, MOH tried to get the blood work done to prove immunizations and there is another problem...MOH was given the TB vaccine in Germany after having Meningitis, and so MOH always shows up POSITIVE for TB, so has to have MORE blood work and x rays to prove MOH doesn't have it!
Complications that may NOT get ironed out before Next Monday's orientation day for volunteers!
GRR..
SO NOW we Wait.
Fed income tax return in, so in savings, allows us a little breathing room, but not much, it can go fast. Awaiting State stilll. THey haven't yet taken the Unenjoyment back either. Dunno when they will.
Friend arriving at 7 am, tomorrow...so early day.
well off to cook some dinner...
hang in there guys! the newest units.
Why thank you Flo for the
Spent most of my day off napping, getting old sucks!
Train Front Well I did get some model Railroading done, but not as much as I would have liked to have got done. Did get my current Monon F3 A&B unit re speed matched.
On the haunted PK 2 GP 20, well I was in the mood to work on it. When I moved it to the test track, it did nothing. Took the shell off so I could mess with the wires, placed it back on the track, ran like a Swiss Watch! It is hard to fix something when it is working!
Vince, I sure cannot be mad about this transaction! When the darn thing runs, it runs great! So you had no reason to know it has mood swings! By the way, what OHM Resistor did you use for the lights? It is very bright.
See you all later, Ken
Evening All,
Had pork chops for supper, and will probably be going to bed early for w**k tomorrow. I built the Tichy Milk Station today (very simple) and plan on painting it on Friday. I'm going to place it behind the farm on the layout.
Tomorrow the high is supposed to be only 70 F after 90 F the other day.
Gary- Nice looking locos.
Hope everyone has a good evening and prayers for those in need.

Well I am proud of myself right now. Actually got some major body work done on my P-38J Lightning. Still plenty to do yet however.
Evening All.
Very windy day here, really too windy to do my usual outdoor stuff on my day off. So I did some scenery w**k on the layout after paying bills. Was so engrossed I missed lunch, and heated up leftover meatloaf for diner. After perusing the forums, I think I will tackle some more scenery.
Jeremy - When I was in management, it ment alot to me if someone felt bad about srcewing something up, it showes they care. I am sure your boss feels the same way. Now get over it, tomorrow is a new day.
